This is a solid choice for breakfast, but not our first choice. They seated us quickly, but service was super slow (although friendly). The biggest downfall was how crowded and loud it was. My husband couldn't hear anything I was saying the entire time. Granted, he may only be in his mid thirties but as a combat veteran his hearing is less than optimal, so maybe the noise won't be an issue for you. For us, we wish they didn't crowd in the tables so much. Green chili egg platter was good, but needed quite a bit of added Tapatio in my opinion. read more

Another local spot I go to for a quick breakfast. Food is ok, but consistent. You'll never be surprised. Been here several times and never ever a problem with service until today. Seems as though they have a lot of new staff. The full bar is a plus as well as the TV's in the bar. The place is always clean and they always have a special. read more

This is old time American food at its best. Burgers, fries, and my favorite chicken fried steak. Great onion rings, too. The service was outstanding. Our only qualm was cleanliness. Stopped by after browsing yelp on our way out Tucson after attending a UA game the day before . Had great reviews so stopped in , the place was packed but didn't wait long and the waitress was wonderful. Service was amazing and food was delicious. Went there for the first time today. It looks super small on the outside but there is plenty of seating and a room cap of 83. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and my wife had the country fried steak. Both were good and I really enjoyed the country potatoes. The service was decent. They did mess up my order as I had asked for hash browns and sunny side up eggs with sourdough toast but got the country potatoes, eggs over easy and white toast. Honestly I didn't even say anything because I'm just not that fussy and what I got was just fine. The food good but nothing to brag about. My biscuit was a little on the tough side but flavorful. The gravy was nice but I added some pepper to make it better. Overall it's a decent little breakfast spot and the pieces are pretty good. Oh and you get 3 eggs with each order instead of the normal 2. That's a bonus for sure! read more

I came here for dinner Tuesday night right before they closed and they were really nice about still taking orders. My mom's mushroom burger (honey mustard instead of mayo) was pretty good. I did not like the fish dinner I had. The fish was very greasy (my fault I suppose for ordering fried fish), the red beef chili was cold and not good at all and the garlic bread tasted like they poured salt on it. Their prices are great so I might come back to try something completely different. read more

The service was great, the food was great, the ambiance is decent ( it's just a diner style look in a shopping strip). The prices were reasonable. We ordered a chicken sandwich with the buffalo chips ( recommended by waiter and glad he did) and a beef Philly. We will definitely be back, heard they have an $8 burger on Tuesday and I can't wait to go try it :) read more

Mom Pop Resturant. Very popular: However, there are Hot and cold days. One day service (waiter) is good, the next terrible. The food is good but there's a wait. There are certainly very few smiles amongst the staff, the owner is nice, but there are times you just want to walk out and go to Circle K for that dull breakfast sandwich. It's a hit and miss here. Today waited at the front door un-noticed for several minutes, then had to flag down a waitress to located my table waitress who was not in a good mood or lacking a smile. It's rough when you have traffic all day long. Hire someone already with good strong energy because this place needs it. THIS WILL BE MY LAST VISIT. Heading to the Crying Onion. We found this place after stopping at Costco for gas. The place was packed at 1pm on a Tuesday. They had a $9.95 burger special, so I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with buffalo fries. Both were really good. Sitting outside on their front sidewalk was nice. read more

Usually we just visit Grumpys for breakfast. This afternoon we ventured out and tried it for dinner and happy hour. We were pleasantly surprised. This Bar and Grill is one of our 'Go To' places when in town. They have some of the Best burgers, in a Great Variety. They have a "Burger Day" on Tuesdays where you get any burger discounted. My Mom really likes the Onion Rings and their "Grumpy's Favorite" burger, which has Peanut Butter of all things. Their Green Chili is Great. It's good on pretty much every dish they serve it on, plus a few we've special ordered. My Dad and youngest son like to order a cup of it with whatever they get and eat it with their fries. The Servers have always been nice. We have become acquainted well with a few of them and ask about families when we go in. They always smile and greet us warmly when we come in. The setting is typical sports bar and grill. Small place with quite a lot of seating for the little area. They have three outdoor tables, too. It's quite the popular spot at specific times of the day. There will be times you have to wait for a seat, especially on weekends. read more

Visited with a friend for the first time yesterday. The waitress was very pleasant. We were seated immediately and our food came quickly. The menu has a nice variety of options. It was difficult to decide what to order. I had an omelet with fruit. It was a nice portion and was delicious. I'll definitely come back. This is a local owned business here in Tucson with a nice range of food choices for reasonable prices. The burgers are some of the best with hot fries that beg to be dipped into ketchup. The chicken fried steak is one of my favorites and the chili Mac being my wife's. My daughter enjoys the chicken dinner basket. Service is always fast and friendly. read more

My wife and I started going here over the last year. Each time we stop in, the food has been great. We've tried the French Dip, Shrimp dinner, and Tuna Melt. They have all been very well made. Grumpy's is now one of our favorites. The prices are good, quality is very good, and quantity is good. Nothing fancy; just a good diner style restaurant. Seems like they actually take pride in how they make their food. Hard to find this type of quality in Tucson anymore. read more

I was coming from Chandler and my friend From California for a brief reunion. She found this place based on their having a dog friendly patio. What a blessing for both of us. The beautiful October weather was a plus, too. We were lucky to get an outdoor table. Server Julieanne was professional and knew their menu. My friend had a vegetable omelet, crisp hash browns and raisin bread toast. I had the coyote burrito with an amazing green chili sauce. I learned you can order ahead to take some sauce him vegetarian or with pork. I wish I had known that and had brought a cooler! Lots of regulars were showing Ip but we felt just as welcome. We stopped in at Grumpys for breakfast yesterday. We were on our last leg of a 2 week Texas vacation, heading back to San Diego. The whole trip was exhausting and filled with lackluster food and entertainment. We just wanted a good breakfast so we took a chance at Grumpys. We're glad we did. When you're not "from around here" it's hard to know if a place is good, but when we walked in we could tell by the morning crowd (a lot of older folks) that this was probably a good place haha! It was pretty full of customers but we were seated quickly and our coffee came out quickly to get us started. There were a lot of good looking choices on the menu (but not so many to overwhelm you). We went with a french toast combo and a deluxe omelette. The food came out in just a few minutes and it was really good. Nice and hearty, good flavor and our waiter was awesome. I wish i caught his name! Anyway, highly recommended! Thank you Grumpys, for a delicious breakfast to start our day before we hit the road for 8 long hours! read more

The restaurant offers an extensive menu, but is best known for it's delicious burgers. Happy Hour is everyday from 2PM-6PM and there are daily specials. Homemade Green Chili is presented on a number of dishes and is very flavorful and quite unique.

Tim & Lorrie Klump had owned several franchise restaurants in the past and decided to venture out on their own. Hence, we have Grumpy's, named appropriately after Tim.

I have NEVER had a server do that. Friend mentioned that it looked like he definitely wanted us GONE!!!! Had I known we would be treated this way, I wouldn't have left my 20%+ tip. I want 15% of my tip back! I'll go back but never again have this person as my sever.

I had heard about it once in passing but never really looked it up or anything. Every employee we came in contact with was so very nice and helpful when it came to our kids. I loved how the interior looked and it's nice and bright inside from natural lighting from the windows. The food was outstanding. There was not a bad thing to say about anything in our experience. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. My favorites were the pimento cheese dip, shishito peppers and the steak frites. We will be back.
