We went on a friday evening but we were seated right away. Our servers were accommodating and polite. We ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with shrimp tempura, Thai spicy hot wing and the Spicy tuna poke rice bowl. The spicy wing was the best choice among the 3. The flavor is very well balanced and it's not too spicy. You can taste the tanginess of the Thai chili sauce with a hint of sweetness. The Tonkotsu ramen has a mild flavor for me compared to other ramen I have tasted, but still pretty decent. The spicy tuna poke bowl has a medium spiciness for me but overall everything was good. The parking will be either street parking or in the paid parking structure beside it.

The atmosphere was warm, modern, and welcoming, making it a great place to relax with friends or family. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everything was served fresh. Hate it when decent food is ruined by discourteous service. Gu Ramen is one of the first restaurants my wife and I went to, after we moved to Long Beach 4 years ago. It's within walking distance, so was a bit surprised that I hadn't visited in over 3 years. My long cruise had gotten me a craving for good ramen, so decided to walk over for an early lunch. I got there about 10 minutes after it opened at 11, and was the first customer. There were two ladies working the front, and one of them greeted me immediately. I put up an index finger with a smile to show it would just be me, and was seated near the back close to the kitchen. I got a menu immediately and was asked what I wanted to drink. I told her water which came quickly. That's when it started turned janky. The server was having a rather loud conversation with the other server in a language I didn't understand. She finally came back after the other lady walked away (to work I'm assuming), to take my order. I stated what I wanted, and without any response, she just went away...wasn't sure if she got it right (but she had). About 10 minutes later, the fried rice dish came. She just put it in front of me without a word, ignored my 'thank you', and walked off. The ramen came a bit later, and same action. She did fill my empty water glass once without me asking, so I guess she was paying attention. Note I was still the only customer. The same attitude with the bill providing and credit card swiping; by this time I stopped trying to interact too. This is the time when I WANT to either just ask "What's your problem?" or more passive aggressively "Did I offend you in some way?" Decided it wasn't worth it, paid my bill, still giving a small(er) tip, and was on my way. Did notice that she was talking normally to a new customer as he was being seated. As for the food, both dishes were decent to great: the fried rice ($7.99 as addon to ramen) was great...very generous portion, cooked over very high heat to produce a delicious veggie fried rice. The tonkotsu ramen ($13.99) with added corn ($1.99) and narutomaki ($2.99) was decent (OK). Plenty of ramen noodle (so didn't need to order extra) topped with a two thick slices of well-prepared Chashu. The broth was OK too, but did give me stomach problems later (still haven't figured out what ingredient(s) cause this...but have decided that ramen and pho are worth it for me).

I had a great experience at Gu Ramen! The food was absolutely delicious rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite was satisfying. The environment was clean, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to enjoy a meal whether you're dining solo or with friends. The overall vibe was relaxed, and the service was excellent. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was on point. I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back again!

This is seriously my FAVORITE ramen spot. I love the fact that I live so close to it. I dine in or order take out often. I always order the Shoyu Ramen either mild or spicy, and the flavor of the soup is so mouthwatering, the generous noodles are quality, and the eggs are so delicious. I'd give Gu Ramen Taps and Tapas a solid 3 stars. We went on a Thursday night, and while the service was fast, it did feel a bit pushy at times, especially given how relaxed the night was. I ordered the chashu ramen, which was just okay. The broth leaned on the bland side, and it was a little disappointing to see extra charges for add-ons that are usually standard, like an egg. That definitely took away from the overall value. That said, the inside has a nice vibe, and the menu offers a decent variety of food beyond just ramen, which is a plus if you're dining with a group. Overall, it's not bad, but there's room for improvement, especially when it comes to flavor and pricing. read more

The hibachi fried rice was soooo delicious. I recommend this dish to everyone. The cheese wontons were plumply filled and fresh. The service was sooo welcoming and attentive. I would go 3 on the ramen as the broth is kind of plain. The service and fried rice did not disappoint so I must round up to a 4. I would return if I was in the area. read more

Every thing on the menu looked and sounded amazing but I planned to try the ramen because I've been craving a good bowl of ramen for a while. I landed on the shoyu ramen with tofu. I really enjoyed the taste of the broth. The flavor and seasoning was soul-healing. I don't usually go with plain chicken broth in ramen but I felt confident in my choice. I was literally happy dancing with each bite. The ramen was so good! My partner went with a spicy order of tonkotsu ramen with chicken, garlic, and black oil sauce. I tried parts of it and it was also delicious! I wanted to try the sushi but did not have that big of an appetite for both sushi and ramen so I opted for the salmon poke tacos. They tasted very savory and the salmon was flavored really well. The temperature and consistency was not too overwhelming for the tacos shell. The service was attentive and not too invasive. We took the check to the counter to pay. I am excited for our next trip here. It is dangerously walking distance for us! The place has a slightly unusual layout where the staff may not notice you immediately, but once they do, service is fast and friendly. The setup is also perfect if you enjoy sitting by the window and watching the street while you eat. Overall, Jounetsu Ramen doesn't disappoint, but compared to LA's heavy hitters, the ramen still has ways to go.

Where it all went wrong was with the service, the waitress here saw me and didn't sit me along with slowly taking my order and never coming to me. It's almost like you have to tell her or ask her something rather than her helping you ou first. It was honestly one of the most frustrating service experiences I've had in Long Beach in terms of waiting and I had to go to another waitress for help. I don't usually like giving reviews so I'm sorry Rakkan.

I wish we could've bought the vegan meats and/or banchan to take home and grill. I finished off my little bowl of white rice with the sides and savory meats. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.

It was a perfect mix of underlying lemon-y flavor, the crunchy god the asparagus and snow peas, ... I could go on forever. I've also gotten the agnolotti and it's heavenly ! You gotta check this place out I promise you won't be disappointed :)

After picking up countless orders from Gu Ramen Tap for DoorDash, I finally had the chance to dine in, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. As someone who was feeling like trying something different from noodles, I opted for the rice. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! It had a thick, hearty consistency that was both satisfying and comforting. You might think rice wouldn't stand out at a ramen place, but trust me, this was a worthy choice. To accompany the rice, we ordered a few appetizers, including pork pot stickers and cheese wontons. Both were fresh and flavorful, capturing that perfect balance of crispy exteriors and savory fillings. The pot stickers had a delightful crunch and paired nicely with the dipping sauce, making each bite a joy. The cheese wontons were a fun twist, creamy and cheesy without being overwhelming. We couldn't resist trying the lollipop chicken, and while the presentation was charming, the chicken itself was a bit undercooked. Despite that, the flavor was still solid, with a lovely glaze that added a nice sweetness. I couldn't help but think that switching the sauce and starting with the lollipop chicken as a base to complement the pot stickers might create a more balanced combination. It's just a small adjustment that could elevate the dish even further! The atmosphere at Gu Ramen Tap is casual and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring our dining experience was pleasant. Overall, my first visit to Gu Ramen Tap was a success, and I can confidently say I'll be back! I had an amazing experience at this sushi bar! The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Every roll we ordered was packed with flavor, and the quality of the fish was outstanding. Kit, the owner, reached out to our friends that were victim to homophobic verbal abuse yesterday. He feels horrible and let everyone know that they are welcome and that his business will protect them via Facebook live with one of the victims. Thank you Kit for helping to rectify the situation. I tried this place because other ramen places are far and booked. I was happy with the pricing and the quality of food but not with the servers. They seem so uninterested with their customers and pretend that they dont hear you or give you a bad look on their faces. There were two asian ladies one with glasses and one without glasses that are too grumpy. Overall, the food was good but the people in here treat you like trash. So i recommend you try out other places instead. read more

The base ramen was flavorful, but I was taken aback when I realized that many toppings come at an additional charge. It felt reminiscent of a video game with hidden DLCs. While I appreciate the option to customize, I wish the cost structure was more upfront and inclusive. read more

Gu Ramen unfortunately embraces hate and discrimination. There was an unfortunate incident with another patron spewing hate against the LGBT community that they allowed it to happen and not intervene even when the manager was asked too. read more
