I also got the Che Ba Mau dessert... just the right amount of sweetness. My Mom, brother, uncle and aunt ordered different dishes and I got a chance to try a little bit of each, too. Com Ca Kho To (clay pot with sticky rice), Combination Pan Fried Rice Noodles with veggie meats, and Bun Bi Cha Gio (vermicelli with egg rolls and shredded pork) were all scrumptious. They did not disappoint whatsoever! Remember, all items are vegetarian! Staff was very pleasant and friendly. They were very attentive to our tables. Speed of service was timely. If you are a vegetarian and vegan foodie, you must check this place out. Their food is incredibly flavorful and high quality! We ordered in person for take out and the food was ready within probably 10 minutes. The lemongrass chicken was a significantly smaller portion than the other dishes and was given to us in what looked like a lunch special container, but when we called they insistes that was the correct one, so you may want to check your order before leaving if you do take out. The clay pot rice was delicious with pieces of fried ginger on top. The salt and pepper chicken is so tasty and is a dry dish if you don't fancy sauces. The eggplant and tofu is flavored really well with lots of basil and the eggplant melts in your mouth! The lemongrass chicken was super delicious as well but there were a few too many mushrooms in proportion to the protein pieces. I got the clay pot peppered fish and the lemongrass chicken. These two dishes look a lot like each other. I liked the fish better because it was a bit more tender. The chicken was a little tough to chew. They close in the middle of the day so be sure to double check their time before heading over. I love that the GW is opening in the same lot. Maybe I just came here on an off night for take-out? The egg rolls were crispy, so that's a positive. The lemongrass chicken hardly had any flavor and didn't taste fresh, that was a disappointment. Then came the vermicelli with shredded pork. At first we thought they forgot the pork, the meat on the dish was unrecognizable. We tried to eat it, the pork was spongy and tasted off. We threw away the dish after one bite. Now for the beef chow fun, this was the one good dish. There was flavor, although it seemed they used ground beef, but everyone liked it. Finally the stir fried string beens with tofu, you can't really mess this up. It could have been improved with some garlic, or anything to add more flavor, but nothing a little soy sauce couldn't fix. Most of us are on a tight budget these days. For the $75 we spent, we're going to move on to another restaurant. read more

My family and I like to eat vegetarian food every two weeks. I had known about Happy Buddha serving Vietnamese style vegetarian food for a while, and I decided to come here with my family for brunch. The menu is quite large, and they have a wide variety of food, including pho, vermicelli, and even clay pot rice. The tea is complimentary, which is a plus. We decided to share a vermicelli with vegetarian pork and spring roll, stir fried vegetarian fish, and then a curry soup vermicelli. The vermicelli tasted very similar to one I would get at any Vietnamese restaurant. The spring rolls were super crispy and flavorful. Salt and pepper chicken - 5/5 this is my favorite dish at all Chinese vegetarian restaurants. It's not too salty and the basil gives it a nice flavor. It is a little dry but still good. Eggplant 3/5 this wasn't that good. Something about it was just off but it's not that oily which is nice. Stir fry green beans with tofu 4/5 can't go wrong with green beans but there wasn't much tofu. Shredded pork rolls 4/5 this was pretty good for vegetarian spring roll. Fish sauce is good too. Came here for LNY with the family for the first time. When going to a vegetarian restaurant, I usually stick to dishes that are authentic to their existence. So the fake meat that was in our dishes was really not up to what I normally like. Everything tasted really good and the way they're supposed to taste. The wontons were so delicious! I've never had vegetarian wontons quite like that. The Bun Bo Hue was pretty spicy, but very very tasty. If you're looking for something spicy, I would recommend this dish. However, they could improve on the following: the noodles in the Bun Bo Hue is quite textured when it should be smooth; the wonton wrappers could also be a little thinner; the price is a bit higher than I would have liked. This place filled me with such happiness. The minute I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to hear latin music. Everyone in the restaurant was having a good time. My mushroom wontons were filled with corn, two different types of mushrooms (duh), peas, and lima beans. It was a very sharable size. Such meaty textures on the "chicken" and tofu, nice and firm and very flavorful. It was nearly a toss-up which was the best between the Lemongrass or the Salt & Pepper Chicken, but I think we all loved the Salt-n-Pep most. Prices are very good! Before we had finished our first conversation, our meals were being delivered to us hot and fresh. The #11's noodles kept soft and dry and complemented the several varieties of flavored tofu mixed throughout incredibly well. My Lemon Grass Chicken was the perfect amount of flavor and spice and was accompanied by a generous heaping of rice, some sort of fermented cabbage (AMAZING palette cleanser), and a egg soup. As a lifelong omnivore, it's strange to see this restaurant in the same corner as The Hat (burger joint) and say - naw I want Buddha Kitchen. But that's what happened. I first visited when I had a craving for some clean eating and it did not disappoint.
