Joyness Eating (San Gabriel) is not bad. I ordered the "Beef Brisket Over Rice" ($10.99) with added Chicken Drumstick (additional $2.49). It's cheap, fast eats. (Important Note: Be cautious of the high rating because this location offers a FREE DRINK for a "Google/Yelp Review." I hate these gimmicks, and I refuse. I will attach a photo of this shady gimmick.) I arrived at Joyness Eating (San Gabriel) on Tuesday (around 11:03AM). There's a tiny, cramped front parking lot (about seven spots). However, there's also street parking; sign says, "2 Hour Parking - 6AM to 6PM - Except Sunday." I quickly found street parking. Staff interaction is very minimal. Customers primarily order on the self-service kiosk. Staff briefly appears to bring the food and immediately return in the kitchen. The food was ready in four minutes. Crazy fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the "Beef Brisket Over Rice" ($10.99) with added Chicken Drumstick (additional $2.49). The meal is cheap & filling. Unfortunately, it's not very flavorful nor memorable. It all tastes like a reheated premade bowl from a convenience store. It's a hearty & affordable meal, but the protein has that dry aftertaste. Fortunately, the rice tasted fresh and hot. All in all, it's not bad. On ambiance, Joyness Eating (San Gabriel) is well-maintained. There's about five tables, and the location felt fairly clean. There's a gender neutral restroom, a big bottle of hand sanitizer, restful music, and a self-service water station. It felt comfortable. Overall, I had a forgettable experience at Joyness Eating (San Gabriel). At the very least, the food is very affordable and well-portioned. As mentioned, it's not bad, but it's currently not great. 3.9 out of 5

I found this hidden gem today and thought it was delicious! I got the braised pork flatbread, the braised pork knuckle flatbread, and the pickled fish which comes with rice. All were super flavorful and well spiced. The flatbread was a little bit hard, but still pretty flaky. Service was pretty quick, though I think there's only one person manning the front counter. Still, you can order using the kiosk, which is easier. There's a parking lot and easy street parking

I discovered this place from IG. It's a great self serve place. You order at the kiosk and your food arrives within minutes. I ordered the beef brisket over rice. The food is fresh and made to order. I made mine slightly spicy which had a nice kick to it. This place feels like places over seas, where you order your food from a kiosk (contactless), then your food is brought out. This place drives a lot of Food delivery services. I saw a number of drivers arrive, pick up their orders and leave promptly. But they do have tables to dine in and enjoy your food.

Got a takeout braised pork rice set from Joyness Eating and it really hit the spot at home. The rice was perfectly cooked and the braised pork was super flavorful--rich, savory, and not too greasy. It paired really well with the sauce and sides in the set, making it feel like a comforting, complete meal even as takeout. Portion size was generous, definitely enough for a satisfying dinner. Even after bringing it home, the food still tasted fresh and warm, which is always a big plus for takeout. Quick pickup, friendly service, and overall great value for what you get. I'll definitely be ordering this again when I want something easy but really comforting.

Great for if you are on the go because they're so fast. The food are delicious with generous portion. Plenty of seats and parking. And to top it off, their rice dish is only around $12. Which is cheaper than most places! Their dishes are more on the spicier side, so order with caution :) The service is fast and friendly, there's a self ordering kiosk too.

solid solid place. from the time i was in the door, to the time i threw away my trash and walked out, 21 minutes passed. you order, and basically get your food in the next two minutes. the whole joint is a fast casual kinda spot, with good food. if i had to describe it in a few words, id say its yo mommas food. really, it tastes like your mom is out back preparing it and there's just something so comforting about that. nothing fancy, no table service, just self serve. food itself tastes great, steaming hot, good flavor, great price. nothing really to complain about. ps i like yo mommas cooking.

They excel at rice bowls and rou jia mo (crispy flatbread meat sandwiches). Huanxi Signature Braised Pork Rice (Pork over Rice): Like pulled pork, the meat is shredded, tender, and surprisingly juicy. This hearty bowl of rice is filled with hidden treasures. It contains matchsticks of potato, cabbage, pickled long beans, and two creamy quail eggs. You select a chili sauce to top the meat. The green chili sauce tastes like a fire roasted hatch chili salsa. With smoky charred notes and strong garlic flavor, you'll definitely want some of it on each bite. Braised Pork Flatbread: The same tender meat is provided in pocket form. The flatbread is extra crispy with many layers and a dense texture. found this close by where I'm running errands during lunchtime. it's in a small corner shopping lot. arrived here around 12pm on a Wednesday. the place is empty, but there's togo orders here and there while i'm eating my lunch. I ordered their famous pork buckle over rice. it's a self service place as you order at the counter, take your own utensils and water. food was served right away, in a plastic to go bowls. the pork knuckles were chopped to pieces so it's easy to eat, also included are 2 braised quail eggs and pickle beans. meat was tender and flavorful, sides are good as well. a good place to grab something fast. would come back to try other dishes. read more

I have to strongly disagree with the other reviewers. I gave this place a shot based on the others saying it's "tasty" and "good". I'm not particularly picky, but the taste is fairly plain and disappointing. I did not find the meat or rice "flavorful". It was bad enough I ended up having to throw away half away once home. Portions are mostly made up by large servings of rices. The location is a little depressing because they use wall-high one-way posters where you can't see inside at all. You can barely tell if the place is open. Feel free to take the risk if you want to try yourself, but I am afraid the other reviewers might be influenced by the free drink they offer for posting a yelp review sigh. read more

Came to try out the crispy burger which I give a 10/10. The rice dishes were a 6/10 due to the fact that the stewing of meats was not particularly memorable. The only thing that made the bowl unique was the low price and the pickled veggies and chili sauces that the owner has. They also had a combo deal that consisted of adding a chicken drumstick to a bowl and get a tea for an additional $3.50. Service was fast and polite. There was a hair in one of our bowls. Will be back but only for their crispy burgers. read more

In La La Land, TBH, it's rare to find real traditional combo from my hometown on this price. The most signature braised pork belly over rice is my must order every time. As a meat lover, very happy with the tender texture and delicious flavor, along with favorite pickle bean with chili oil & tasty chopped red chill. Plus: you also get a free 'Saint drink of summer' - fine plum tea (in oriental healthy lifestyle theory, we believe tea like this can kill your heat / fire in the body). And you are absolutely allowed to do 'à la carte' style, too. Choose whatever protein, veggie, sauce, rice/noodle, et cetera. This place is lowkey one of my favorite spots in 626 right now. The authentic dishes paired with affordability as well as just a large menu makes this a really special place. I will say that the menu may turn a lot of people away because of the translation issue. But you have to take a shot here for a quick lunch or a weekday uber dinner. Pork over rice and the beef brisket over rice are super high quality. And the spice levels are perfect. Note that I've gotten uber eats from here already once a week for the last month. I have yet to try the burger but I think that that dish would be better had onsite. Also the lemon tea is perfect sweet/tartness to cut through the protein, flavor packed bowls. Passed by this place. Has been curious for a while. Tried it for first time. The pork over rice, beef brisket over rice, pork intestine ocer rice and chicken over rice. They are all very good. It has spiciness level that we can pick. The spicy level is very good with the coarse chopped chili. Price is very affordable and food is very good. This is the definition of good deal. As a massive sucker for Italian food and all things truffle, this dish was my favorite. The al dente handmade egg noodles were wok-tossed in a rich black truffle sauce with delicious mushrooms, fresh Brussels sprout leaves, and perfectly seared scallops. The slow-drip Vietnamese coffee flan is a silky, rich egg custard infused with bold phin-drip coffee and sweetened condensed milk. It offers a perfect balance of bitter roasted coffee and sweet creamy custard. This dish was super smooth, creamy, and delicious. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later.
