Came here for some authentic Mexican sweets and was overwhelmed with many options. I ultimately decided on the Fresas Con Crema which are strawberries in a sweet cream and it came with Granola which was complimentary. Overall it tasted pretty good, it was a huge portion. The corn is big disappointed and the staffs seems so cold and not friendly at all. Maybe because I drove far away from the South with big expectation to the roasted corn but what I got is the cheapest kind of corn from the can that tasted really weird and tough. read more

This restaurant is a little slice of Mexican glory in Austin. It is the truest definition of a hole in the wall. The place is a walk through establishment where you will be served in a line to then go sit outside and enjoy the treats. I have ordered cheesy hot cheetos, the elote, ice cream with spears of fruit covered in chili, nachos, and the mango hill. The negatives: The elote comes in a cup so it gets a bit watery. The mango hill is giant which means you will need friends to help you eat it. The food is all snacks and desserts there isn't and real food. The positive: The food is all delicious. The price is very low. The hot cheetos and cheese is spicy and wonderfully covered in cheese. The nachos are typical ball park style chips, Rico's cheese, and jalapeños. Snack heaven. We got elotes (on the cob), Flaming Hot Cheetos with cheddar cheese sauce (not on the menu but ask for it!), and a Mango Hill. Everything was to die for and this place does an excellent job balancing sweet with savory and spicy. Legit. Cup of corn is so good here, not like that knock off on barton springs. Creamy and lime-y and spicy and great. Also, the mangonada is fantastic, especially with the kick of sour from the tamarind. Folks are nice and you get your corn quite quickly. They also have a version where they pour the corn in a bag of corn chips (think frito pie) and then on top of everything add that nacho cheese. It looks awful, tastes holy but will make you regret the decision later on. Feelin like a thousand bucks...inside a thousand pounds. read more

Me and my husband just came back from a trip and wanted to get a light snack. Hay elotes was on our way back home. The place is little hard to find, so keep looking while you drive slowly :) We ordered elotes, hot and sour Cheetos and mangolada Elotes were perfect- we skipped the mayonnaise, but corn with cheese, butter and seasoning tasted great. Hot and sour Cheetos: I have always loved popcorn and pickle, so wanted to give this a try. It tastes great for a couple of bites, but It is a huge portion. I love sour things, but this was too much after while. Make sure you share it with a friend if you are trying it for the first time. Mangolada: very refreshing drink. Mango with chamoy sauce and a tamarind straw. Sweet tamarind mixed with chilli powder and salt went really well with mango. Who would have expected :) service was great. Everyone was friendly and seemed passionate about what they were doing. Ps: please don't wear white when you visit. Everything is huge and chances of spilling are very high ;) also, there is no seating inside. read more

YAAASSSSS!!!!! This place serves up their elotes fresh and authentic! The elotes are served with white corn, to some people it may seem chewy or hard and even bland but it is technically the right ingredient instead of sweet corn. I also tried the mangonada which is a mango smoothie with chamoy. This was my first time trying it so I wasn't sure what chamoy was...it's a tangy sauce with a spicy kick made from tamarinds. It was definitely worth a try because the flavors are really balanced, the mango comes through and the chamoy just adds a depth to it. I extremely enjoyed my cup of elotes and mangonada so I definitely plan on coming back to try more stuff. The mango hill, fruit cup and sour hot cheetos have definitely piqued my interest. The place isn't very hard to find but you need to keep your eye out for the sign because it is a hole in a wall or I guess a trailer in the street. Not a lot of parking but it seems to be more of a to go place because there were just a couple of picnic tables and chairs outside. The ladies working there are very nice, super friendly and willing to answer any questions. It also helps that their menu is visual, it makes deciding what to order much easier. Personally, I think they are a little overpriced but at the same time there aren't a lot of places that serve street food like this. I'll be back and hopefully more people can become customers so they can expand. read more

One of the best desserts I've ever had. The Mango Hill gets all the hype and understandably so, it's great, but don't sleep on the Coconada. I actually liked the latter better. Holy moly where has this place been all my life? During the hot dog days of summer this place is the ultimate treat to beat the heat. Expect lines, but it's totally worth the wait. Their Elotes are descent and just what I need. They have a variety of fruit snacks and other savory snacks to chose from that are made fresh. They have 3 different sizes to chose from for almost anything that comes in a cup. Sometimes the line can be long but the staff is pretty diligent and good with getting to customers. This is a walk in and grab your food type place so there's no indoor seating, but there is outdoor shaded seating. One of my favorite quick bites in Austin. Always get the Elotes. I mean who doesn't love corn in a cup? And Hay Elotes makes it with white corn, like the mexican staple should be made. Leave your yellow corn at home people! I always have to ask for extra chili, but really I have to do that just about everywhere. It's a little ran down and rough looking, but really no one is here for the 5 star atmosphere, we're here to shove mexican street foods into our mouths! The only draw back is the line, which isn't super long, but I have yet to go there and there not be a line. But that's even more proof that Hay Elotes know what they're doing. Nothing is quite as perfect on a hot day as a Mangonada and Mangonadas don't come quite as perfect as the ones here. Show up, enjoy the food, enjoy the company. I stumbled upon this place by pure chance. I had been craving an elote en vaso, so we stopped. What a mistake! The place is extra small and crowded, the line was so slow. We waited 30 minutes to get to a cashier and another 10 to get our 3 items. We waited thinking that since it was packed then more than likely the food would be on point. But, no...it was plain and the corn was hard. I'm not picky but the texture after chewing on it was like gritty hominy. And to make it all worse, a lady shows up with her crying child!!
