A solid 3.5. Good, not great. We drove 35 minutes specifically to try this highly rated fried chicken sandwich. The restaurant itself is very small. There is a small table with two chairs and a counter bar with four seats. We came on a weekday so we were the only folks in there. I imagine it can get quite busy on the weekend. Service was friendly. The young lady at the front was very personable and happy to answer any questions. I ordered a medium spice level chicken sandwich with regular fries and my friend ordered a mild spice level chicken sandwich with waffle fries. Honestly, we both could have went without the fries. Nothing special or spectacular about them. If anything, the waffle fries were a bit overly salted. Now for the main review, the sandwich. The sandwich itself is a good size, I always appreciate that. The spice/seasoning on the breading was flavorful. Medium was quite spicy so keep that in mind. I personally really enjoyed the spice level which balanced nicely with the cool coleslaw. Now for the part that makes it a good sandwich and not a great sandwich. There is way too much breading. I believe they double fry the chicken, but even if they don't, there's just too much breading. All along the edges of the chicken I'd get a mouthful of just fried breading, no chicken. Honestly, it was a little off putting. I also got some mouthfuls of fat from the chicken thigh. I enjoy fat when it's rendered properly, but this was pockets of white, chewy fat, not good. The coleslaw seemed to be a little overly dressed, thus making the bottom of the sandwich soggy. You might consider taking the sandwich out of its wrapping to avoid this during your meal. Despite these negatives, I thought the sandwich was tasty. It's different and unique, with flavors you wouldn't typically expect in a fried chicken sandwich. "Shatteringly crispy" is as close as I can get to describing that chicken sandwich. The crunch of the slaw and radish and the soft pillowy-ness of the bun made for a great combination of textures. We went with the Classic this time around, but I look forward to seeing how adding spice changes the flavor profile. We demolished our meal before even thinking about taking a picture. It's a fun little spot, and our server was cheerful and pleasant. The water and moist towelette station is a good choice, too.
