One of the pricier AYCE sushi buffets, but for good reason. The sushi served seemed well made, seemed fresh, and were flavorful. With an abundant and quite extensive menu (some restrictions on the AYCE), this place's gem would be its more expensive offerings of Toro, Salmon Belly, and Uni. Add very attentive service allowing you to order without round restrictions, you'll be full before your 90 minutes are up. While we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and we're satisfied, for the price, I did wish there were slightly more options/ selections and the ability to get sashimi plates along with your AYCE option. As for the ambiance, when you step into this restaurant, you feel like you're stepping into a scene cut from Brad Pitt's new Netflix movie, Bullet Train. I have so many questions about this place and how they ended up with the overall rating they have. To start, the operations and set up of this place is pretty bad. As stated on the Yelp page, there are no reservations on the weekend, but when we arrived on a Saturday, we found that's not the case. So many parties who came after us were seated before us. Be aware if you are coming in a party of 5 or more. There is only 1 corner booth that they would seat you at ... The host also sat down a party of 2 who came after us there .... The host didn't have a response as to why that party who arrived after us was seated there. I was especially disappointed because there was only 1 party ahead of us when we arrived, but we waited over 1.5 hours. The food is not that great. Came here recently. QUALITY WENT DOWN DRAMATICALLY!!! The hamachi was not edible!!! Most of the foods weren't fresh!!! The mushroom was like hella gross. After having grocery store sushi for lunch, I was longing for an experience that would satisfy my itch in a way that would spoil my taste for "just any sushi" for a long time. Luckily, I found street parking as the valet lot was so, extremely full. I would recommend an ride over to avoid the parking and being able to splurge on yogurt cocktail and onikoroshi sake with a conscious. I arrived early and glad I did since it was full inside. Service was nice and every hostess greeted me and checked with me several times through out the meal. It appears they don't have area assignments since repetition was in the air. That was both a blessing and a curse, and being the positive person I am, I take the blessing. I ended up ordering the same thing with every server, and they manage to delivery perfectly, despite my fear of getting 6 omakase style chef choice special at 60 per and 3 uni orders. This is the 2nd location and I'm glad they opened it up due to customer demand. It's equivalently as good as the 1st location with less of a wait. I'm not typically an all you can eat sushi fan due to the lack of quality, but this place was well priced and had a lot of selections. Once you sit down, go straight for the "one order per person" stuff. Most of them are worth trying. Service is pretty good depending on how busy the restaurant is. The highlight that sets this place apart from other sushi spots is the amount of rice they give in their nigiris. The rice to fish ratio is so unproportional in a good way. The AYCE is about $48 for dinner and it says explicitly "no sashimi". AYCE menu is rolls only. Food: I love what I order every single time that my partner and I are kind of creatures of habit here; the times that we have taken the chef's recommendations though we have really loved it as well. We always start with the garlic tuna. Sometimes we also add the yuzu yellowtail and the Cajun garlic tuna. For rolls it is always the kiss of fire, shrimp tempura, and occasionally the lemon crush, surf and turf, and sunset. I made a reservation via Yelp for lunch and it was $39.50/person, which isn't too bad for the variety of menu items to select. Hubby and I went to Universal Studios just to watch Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle (he's obsessed). After the show, he suggested this place he found on Yelp because he knows I always crave sushi and he was hungry. We arrived at around 10:15. They have AYCE for $49.50 and while we no longer eat enough to make it worth it, I do still like to pay for AYCE once in awhile when I'm hangry just for the variety alone so I was giving him a hard time for not thinking of it before we snacked at the park! We tend to gauge our hungriness and calculate if AYCE is worth it. In this case, it wouldn't be because we'd eat less in value than the cost. Needless to say, we just ordered à la carte. We ordered yuzu yellowtail, garlic tuna, garlic salmon, lemon crush roll, and California roll. I wasn't expecting much for a sushi spot that's open until 2am but boy was I pleasantly surprised! Also, their sushi orders have 3 servings rather than the standard 2 which was nice for the price. The fish was fresh and buttery. I loved that it wasn't packed with rice. I'm curious if the AYCE versions are packed with more rice as AYCE spots tend to do to fill you up quicker. Our bill came out to $75 with tip so definitely didn't eat $99 worth to justify the AYCE expense. And I could've done away with the California roll order because we were forcing ourselves to finish. Our server was really nice and came by to check and took our plates out when we finished. We ordered 4 rounds, but some of the food that we ordered didn't come, which was pretty sad since we were looking forward to it. We waited for a while and even sat with no food for 15 minutes. We asked the servers to check and they were behind. We were there for 1 hr and 45 minutes already and by then we were so full. Overall a good AYCE sushi. Not gunna lie there is some fine print I'll break down real quick, 1.5hr seating time, the Hello Fish Special are only 1 per order (salmon belly, toro, uni, fish egg etc.) and the valet service outside is trash. I repeat DO NOT use the valet, try and find parking on the street, park at the structure down the street, man just leave your car with the key in the ignition in the middle of the intersection if you have to. I had 1 homie get his car damaged, the other lost my friends keys/stalled his car and a third time the valet just went home not telling anyone where their keys were left! Food wise, well this is as premium as watching a LALISA video with the lights down low, curtains closed and your wifey just stepped out for the night. PREMIUM! The selection of nigiri sushi deserves a five start alone. All the various types of fish and other sea creature carcasses you love to lay over a small lump of rice and devour.
