My husband i tried this place out since we heard it just opened at the international village. We made a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table for two, but when we say this place is new, they definitely need to iron out some kinks before the money you spend is worth it. We started with the buffalo octopus and a half dozen of they're west coast oysters. Main dishes we had the marlin and the Red snapper, and we were so full we didn't get dessert. The food came out almost all at once, and for the price you're paying you expect them to have a nice pace from appetizers to mains. Since all the food came out so fast by the time i got to eat my main the food wasn't as warm as it should be. The marlin although a tough and lean fish was a little dry, but the buffalo octopus was a good texture, a little too much sauce for my liking. Portions are generous though so you'll be leaving full for sure. Our server seemed like he was a new server as at first we didn't have all the cutlery we needed. you generally have a set for appies, and then you have a new set of cutlery for the main course meals. I was using the same fork and knife so i kept having the buffalo flavour from my octopus while i was eating my main course and it really dampers your tastes. But the server was kind nonetheless. The restaurant itself is lovely. the decor is very modern and it has a vibrant feel where you want to enjoy your time and ambiance, if the food came out slower I would prefer it better so you can actually soak in the experience. For 2 mains, 2 appies and 2 glasses of wine our bill came to about $225USD after tip. I would go again once this place has a few more months of experience, not really worth it right now. read more

This place feels trendy, classy and casual all at the same time. I came for HH and got the Berry Delight and the Brussel Sprouts with Macadamia Nuts. Both were fantastic. I was worried about the Berry Delight being too sweet and it was not overkill and hit the right sweet and tangy balance! The Brussel sprout glaze seemed like a mix of a great balsamic glaze w a bit of tanginess added. The Mac Nuts were a nice addition, texturally. Would recommend and would be back again if I weren't leaving town tomorrow! read more

FANTASTIC time at the bar this evening. Ryan is an AMAZING bartender. Great drinks and great fun. He keeps everything lively. Had a wonderful time here. Food was also good. We had the fish tacos and the octopus. Both were great but I would definitely recommend the fish tacos. Octopus was a little too chewy and spicy for my taste, but it was a hit with the company I was with. This would definitely be a new go to if I was local! read more

My review is based on one visit because I won't be returning. My wife and I went to eat there in Christmas day and were seated right away, but, after ordering, it took almost an hour just to get our shrimp appetizer which was burned on the outside and tasted bad. Then another 20 minutes later our salmon and crab was brought out. After almost an hour and a half the food was overcooked so we just ate it as fast as we could just so we could leave. Then we get a check for the food and two glasses of wine that was $130 before tip. The waiter was very polite, so we left a tip and ended up spending $160. Sadly we spent an hour and a half for overpriced and poorly cooked food. My family won't be coming back. read more

My son & wife are coming from NYC and my daughter & husband coming from SF and my Christmas present is Herringbone on Saturday 12/28 at noon!!! so I'm hoping that after the Norovirus incident that caused us to not have our brunch there way back in 2017, it will be great. Super pretty place once you locate it past Rolex and up three floors. However food was less than desirable not only in flavor but also portions. We started off with the tuna tacos, that we nicknamed the tiny tuna tacos. About the size of an inch and only three for a table to share. ($19), my husband got the pork chop that actually was good (reason for the second star) I ordered the salmon so dry and sent it back and the sweet waitress stated I was given the wrong piece. Second piece came out less done but the bok Choy was like soup with carrots and mushrooms (such an odd combination). Overall major disappointment. read more

We shared the special of the night which was a full fish fried (I will never remember the name but like a snapper). It was so amazing and flavorful. We were there on 7/5. Herringbone was a FANTASTIC spot. Drinks were great and food were just phenomenal! We had Yellowtail Crudo (exquisite), Mari's salad (dressing was so lite that you could taste the freshness of the ingredients rather than the sauce), Ponzu Pork and Pineapple flatbread (so juicy and flavorful), and shrimp (meat quality was tender and "bouncy" so fresh!). Absolutely a gem in the International Market. Service was absolutely on point. A big shout out to Kurt C, he was knowledgeable with the menu and suggestions on both drinks and food. He would suggest food items to compliment your palate and enhance your dining experience. Never intrusive, check in when he needed to and our glasses were always filled, and he also brought our clean plates and utensils so we didn't have to mix the flavor in between courses. Well done! The plates here are kind of hilariously small. My friend ordered the papaya bowl ($17) for her birthday brunch and it was literally the tiniest papaya I ever did see! I ordered the fish tacos (because they were already out of the eggs benny only 1 hour after opening time???) and they tasted great, but the tortillas must have been 3x3 inches and the pieces of fish no bigger than my thumb LOL. For $23 you'd think they were loaded and would leave you feeling full but I ate when I got home... my other friend paid $18 for the avo "toast" expecting a hunky piece of bread, but instead got a plate with 4 miniature crackers topped with some guac. We were actually laughing out loud. You're definitely paying for the ambiance/cuteness of the place here. It's decorated really well and you can tell they put extra effort into the details of the place. The only other good thing was the bottomless mimosas, for which they gave you 5 juices to choose from, and were pretty good about keepin it flowin. Overall I'd say this is a one-time-thing type restaurant. Good for a special occasion but not if you're actually hungry! read more

We tried this restaurant for Father's Day lunch. It was also the second outing with a newborn. It was a very hot day and they took us to a side gate so it was easier to navigate to the table. There was giant fans and it was breezy with a beautiful outdoor garden feel. The waiter was very nice telling us about the menu. The food was relatively quick even though it was busy. I tried the Herringbone Eggs Benedict. It had a great flavors and a bit fancy with a caviar topping but the price was pretty reasonable. I took off one star because we had to hunt down a waiter for water. We were trying to be patient and wait but we finished our meal and still didn't get a water refill. read more

It was our first night in Hawaii and we walked to the International Market. There were a number of restaurants so we checked menus and decided on Herringbone. There were 4 of us. We were promptly seated. The restaurant wasn't that crowded. We ordered drinks and they came quickly. Our food came in a normal amount of time. My wife and I had the shrimp and grits. They were delicious. However there were only two shrimp. Yes they were big but a third one would have been great. We shared the Brussel sprouts and Hawaiian vegetables with the other couple. When Happy Hour seating is full you're out of luck for cheap oysters, if you sit in the regular restaurant the specials don't apply. So we sat, and enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere is quite nice. I take a star off for the happy hour situation, and that their food needed just a little more flavor. The fried whole fish was a tad dry, and my mussel dish was light on curry flavor and mostly tasted of tomato sauce. The mushrooms were good, and cocktails tasty. Went to Sunday brunch at herringbone against my will and with low expectations.... I still left disappointed. The omelette was bland and had over cooked eggs. The sweet potato hash was also bland and greasy. The breakfast burrito was probably the best thing we ordered but for almost 20 dollars it was not even close to worth it. Service was so slow I can't even begin to describe it. 3 hours for brunch.... not exaggerating and the waiter made us split up our own check at the end. Food for 9 of us came out little by little and by the time we all had food most of us had cold food in front of us. I will never come back. Ever. read more

Took a group of my coworkers here Monday night and had a feast. The patio is a bit loud but it got more fun and lively as the evening progressed. Very attentive waitstaff. The black octopus is delicious as long as you can take a little bit spicy. I love going to international marketplace because the parking so easy and free. You pay a little bit more to come here but it always seems to be good value at the end of the day. Next time Icome I think I'll try the eating house. Super nice ambience with a garden feel and top notch service. We went about 11:30am on Sunday for brunch and the food was incredible. We had west coast oysters for a pu-pu and I had the battered fish tacos for an entree, both were so fresh (server told us they don't keep anything longer than 2 days) and delicious. We also opted for doing endless mimosas which was the best idea of the day. You have lots of juice options, we did orange, pineapple, guava, and lilikoi. I believe he mentioned pog as an option as well although we didn't try that one. Our server, who was super personable and nice, kept our champagne topped the entire time. The endless mimosas (they have endless rose' also) ran from 10:30-2 and the cost is $25. If you drink 2 you break even. For price reference, my husband and I got 12 oysters, 2 entrees (tacos and eggs benedict), and each had endless mimosas with our check totally $156 ($195 after tip), so not cheap by any means but you definitely feel like you've gotten your money's worth!
