Wanted to give an updated review on behalf of the new Service Manager George. You can always tell when the higher ups send in the big guns to get things done. I've been lucky in the past but it seems like some times in between management can be not the best. It also depends who you get on the phone. My last experience was about 2 years ago, and recently they brought in a new service manager George who really saved the day for me. A week before speaking with George about my backorder part from a recall I spoke with Mike who I believe is Asst. Manager. My truck had been diagnosed in July and I'd been waiting for a part on backorder since. Mike told me my truck wasn't even "officially diagnosed" so I'd have to schedule a transmission tear down which they were booked out at least a month. Not to mention he said the part he couldn't even place on order if it was even available anywhere until the teardown was complete. So according to him, my truck would go in in a month, get opened up, and maybe wait weeks or months in the shop for the part. A week later I talked to George. Within 10 minutes he called back, the part on backorder they had IN THEIR SHOP. He said yes my truck was already diagnosed he doesn't know why I was told otherwise. Took my truck in THE NEXT DAY and had it repaired within a few hours. Went to Hilltop Ford on Tuesday to look at a car and found that it was used so they could not hold the vehicle. After talking to John Tomahn a salesman and manager of used cars at there Ford location. He was able to put it on hold for me with a deposit of $1000 so that I could come back the next day (Wednesday) to negotiate the price of the car further and potentially walk away with a practically brand new car. This dealership is 45 minutes away from me. I was looking for a F350 Tremor, but due to shortages, would have to custom order it. The price on a custom order was MSRP, no deals. This is standard fare at almost every dealership at this time due to vehicle/material shortages. The two dealerships closest to me, worked on my previous F150, and after 8 tries to fix, I had to lemon it, so not going to give them my business. I was working with Maria Ferro since Oct, '22 (she's nice) and got the truck in late July, '23. Maria knows the product! This is important to me. I need someone that knows how/what to order, and how to work through the Ford ordering systems. The time to delivery was long because I was ordering a configuration where some of the options would not be available until Spring '23 (J2). Maria knew what to do to put my order in, but hold it for j2 availability so that my order maintained priority when the options became available. In Feb, '23, J2 options became available. I called for Maria, but she was temporarily out until May. I spoke to another gentlemen who immediately dismissed me saying that I could not order a vehicle and that I had no order. I kept trying to tell this guy that I had already ordered one, and that it was put into status 99 (order hold). After a bit of back and forth, he finally listened to me, and acknowledged that I had an order, that I was good (thanks to Maria), and that the truck had already been submitted for production. I did have some configuration questions, but this guy could not answer them. He complained that he spent 45 minutes on hold with Ford trying to get me my answers to no avail. Maria returned in May. She addressed my concerns about the options and helped investigate and explain that what I ordered was what I wanted. She confirmed status on the vehicle, gave me the VIN, and estimated delivery in late July or early Aug. I think Maria came in on her day off to help complete the sale. She had lots of knowledge about the F350 and my truck (even towing limits). They had the vehicle washed and ready. The black trim between the front/rear doors were all swirls. She said this was standard for all the Ford vehicles with this plastic trim. I checked two brand new Explorers on the lot, and they had the same. Did they come this way, or was it when they cleaned the cars? Finance department. I worked with A.J. The first thing I noticed was that the car's paperwork mileage was incorrect. I asked for it to be changed. It was only 2 miles difference, so I don't think that was well received. It seemed like after that, A.J. was annoyed with our presence. He wasn't rude, just cold feeling. In the end, not even a congratulations or thanks for your business. Okay, that's cool, I'm not buying lip service, just not the most friendly of experiences. Finance couldn't meet comp pricing I found on warranty and maintenance Ford contracts, and were too highly priced on other options that I ended up buying no add-ons from the dealership and I brought in my own financing. Maybe that's another reason A.J. seemed less than interested in our business. It was sign here, initial here, here's your copy, see ya. Not the dealership's fault, but I was approved for the student $750 discount through Ford, but didn't see the fine print that didn't mention inclusion of Super Duty trucks. It didn't exclude them just pointed out which ones were included. Maria said she was sorry, but couldn't help us. I guess I would have liked to see the dealership say something like hey, feeling bad for you here, here's a couple of bucks off, but that wasn't happening. It was MSRP and that was that. I didn't ask for anything either except meeting pricing on option add-ons. One last item. My truck was a custom order and when the truck came in, it had 64.9 miles on it. I knew that Ford, when building custom order vehicles, will randomly test drive them for quality audits/checks, but up until now, I only knew about them taking 20-30 miles to do so. I contacted Ford corporate who confirmed that the vehicle left the factory with 54 miles on it. Okay, feeling a little better, but that still doesn't explain how 10 more miles got on the vehicle between the factory and the dealership and no one could offer an explanation on that. It should have had a sticker on the window noting the factory testing and mileage, but that sticker was missing. I also noticed my car was listed on their website for sale, but I secretly called posing as a new customer and the dealership said it was on the website by mistake, that it was already sold. Maria confirmed the same to me shortly after as well. When I arrived to buy the vehicle, it had 4 miles more on it. It actually now had 68, but the finance guy put 66 which I asked him to change. The dealership was clean, inside and out. Bathrooms were clean. If not for Maria, I'd mark this 3 stars. read more

Dave ended up taking this issue all the way up the chain to the Ford engineers as the code displayed was not one they had previously encountered. My beloved Mustang was there for two days and the situation was finally resolved. I am a US Army Vet, veterans this is the spot. Staff at Hilltop could have ripped me off and charged me I would have not known. Instead my oil was changed, tires rotated and situation with he codes brought to a conclusion. Twice now we have had issues with just a simple oil change on our New 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor. First vehicle oil change service tech left the skidplate loose and barely hanging on by a few threads. At this same service we also were left with a dent in the door. They fixed the dent at no cost but had to drill a small hole in the side of the door to do it. Kinda annoying to have this done on a brand new truck with less than 1000 miles on it. I tightened down the skid plate my self as I went straight from the dealer on a road trip the next day that's when I heard the skid plate clanging around. Second oil change after we moved the car from parking it in our driveway we found oil on our driveway. It was Sunday so not much we could do but when we called the dealer first thing Monday the advisor asked if we could have it towed to them to look at.. Wait no offer to tow it them selves you say? Correct they wanted us to figure out a tow company and do the leg work on something they should be responsible for. So we bring it to the dealer they say it was just leftover from draining it that didn't get cleaned up. Looked like new oil clean oil to me but hey maybe they just didn't clean up after... They cleaned the "old oil" and sent my wife on her way.... No apologies, no don't worry we will take care of you at your next service, nothing. These are the things that make me do my own oil changes typically but I had Ford points I wanted to use so take all of what I wrote for whatever you want. I came here a couple weeks ago to get 100k mile service on my car. It's an expensive service wherever you shop around. KIM in the Service Department was professional and kind. She helped me out a lot and made me feel confident in their services. I got a $50 coupon in the mail and they did a great job providing all the service (including fixing a recalled part). The cherry on top was when they vacuumed the inside and cleaned the outside of my car. I felt like a VIP. Thanks again to Kim and her attention to me as a customer. I took 2 of my fleets trucks in for recalls on a Tuesday. One truck needed a simple emissions update mandated by DMV, so I could register the truck. I was told it would be done by Friday, Friday came and I called the dealer and was then told Monday. I called Monday and they said it would be done the following Monday, 2 weeks after my appointment. So in the end it would be 3 weeks until they would get to the trucks. At that point I told them I'm losing business as a result of the 2 trucks not being available for work. I them told them I would pick them up and take them to another dealer. I called San Leandro Ford and they said bring it in the next day. I took the 1 vehicle in and they updated the trucks computer in 45 minutes, and I was back in business. All I heard from Hilltop Ford were excuses of why they couldn't fix this, there mechanic was out, the mechanic was too busy. Don't give me an appointment if you can't do the work, a horrible way to run a business, I will never be taking any of my fleet to Hilltop Ford again, customer beware! read more

I went back to the dealership to talk about my experience there which I was not happy about. I spoke to the person who initially greeted me, the salesman I dealt with, and eventually his manager who ultimately determined what the deal was. This is the result of my conversation with him: I bought the car the last day of the month and the very following the day the rebates increased considerably so they naturally offered me the rebate that Ford made available the day of the sale, much to my misfortune. The next day the rebate increased by something like $1200 from $6000, bringing the total rebate to $7200 which would have been quite a savings for me. If they did not know about this, as they claimed, then I understand although it is quite frustrating on my end. So much for the rebate. Now for the trade-in. Car Fax rated my car TRADE IN on selling outright at $6641. The manager told me that was unrealistic and that no dealer in his right mind honors Car Fax or even Kelley Blue Book. In order for them to make $2000 on my trade-in car (Ford Focus), as they want to do, they feel justified in paying me only $3500. There are other dealers I talked to later who would have honored a figure much closer to the Car Fax appraisal, considering the condition of my car, new tires, low mileage, etc. Furthermore, a buyer, in this case the dealership, has every opportunity to adjust his buying price, especially in the face of an impartial and fair appraisal, unless of course he knows he can get away with lowballing the price. Now for the financing. When I bought my Ford Focus in 2016, I was offered a very fair deal by another Ford dealership. For only a small amount of money down, they offered 0% interest, long term. At this dealership, even with my trade-in which I maintain should have been close to $6641, I was offered a long term loan at 3.9%, not 0%. But you can bet they made sure they made $2000 on my trade-in, as they aimed to do in the beginning, in addition to their profit on the car I purchased. I'm updating the rating to 2 stars because they did offer the correct rebate at that time, even though the following day I would have been entitled to much more. I do not see the trade in as being fair and neither is the financing. read more
