Came across this restaurant on a whim. First thing I noticed - how clean everything was. The interior was sleek along with the lighting. Menu had a pretty wide variety of options including live octopus and raw marinated crabs. I ordered the sushi special which came with 18 pieces of sushi for $40 and a Philadelphia roll for $10. Service was so fast and the sushi was such great quality. I'm so happy to see another great Korean restaurant open up in the area. Hope anybody reading this is willing to take a chance! read more

Came here for lunch today with my dad and was not disappointed! They give so much food for the price and the quality was so good. Service was good as well. Very long overdue review of this gem, but it is hands down my boyfriend & I's favorite sushi spot. Luckily we live down the street so it is very convenient when there are long waits. I remember when I placed an order to-go it was an hour wait! But it is so worth it. The service is good too. I believe it might be family owned because it's the same workers every time but I am not sure. Don't let the location fool you. The inside of the restaurant is small but cozy. Our top orders would be their sushi, sashimi, or salmon teriyaki boxes which are a great deal btw, and/or their candy roll. I feel like they already know us by now because we come here often lol. If I could give zero stars I would. Food is ok. Customer service needs to improve at this restaurant. Hostess (young Asian lady) made us feel very uncomfortable when coming into dine and get a table. She didn't greet us, looked bothered & just told us "this is the only table" while there were other tables available. Sushi chef was just there making the orders. Took a while to take our order and to receive our food but overall felt not welcomed. Meanwhile, another family (Asian) came in and hostess treated them well, greet them and showed them to their table. Most customers at this sushi restaurant are predominantly of Asian descent. It doesn't matter what your race is, treat everyone equally with respect. Will not be dining here again! I miss the old sushi restaurant that was there for many years before this one. read more

I have been coming to this location for Sushi since 2014 when it was owned by previous owners. Sweet old couple with adequate food. To say the place has been upgraded is an understatement. Olivia the server is very sweet and great at explaining the menu and atmosphere but man, the food is AMAZING. I had the edamame which was so fresh and savory with a hint of garlic oil. Ate here today with three friends. I had the chirashi bowl that was the BEST I've ever had anywhere. My friends had various sushi rolls but were envious of my meal. We've been here 3 times in the past month and have enjoyed it a lot, it's become our new favorite place! Have never tried the bento lunch, only come for dinner. But we will definitely make a point to do so after reading all of the good lunch reviews here on Yelp. The sushi is very good and fresh, the tempura comes to you crispy and hot, and their miso soup is delicious! The service is good too, the waitress, "Olivia" is friendly, kind and prompt. I can't say enough good things about Hiyori. We have become regulars now. I hope people come give it a try and they do well here in Cypress! read more

Had high hopes for this place when we just arrived, prices were cheap and they brought us miso soup as appetizer but taste of both our rolls was off. Rice was very soft and overcooked, salmon was looking off mostly because if was cut randomly on top of my roll plus tasted very fish. But we were hungry so we ate it and here I am the next day with food poisoning :( read more

The sushi roll was good but the service was not great. The server took our order without writing it down and brought the wrong roll and forgot one order. She even said to my partner and I, it was a lot of food, so my partner told her we are hungry. I don't think we will come back. We do miss the old sushi place that was originally there. read more

New sushi/sashimi spot opened up near my house. They specialize in Japanese/Korean style live fish. It was my first time and I was in a rush so I did take out. Got the baked salmon roll and tuna roll. Tuna quality was pretty good and they gave a lot of fish for a maki roll. I noticed they also gave out miso soups which is a really nice touch. Prices are very reasonable for a small place in a strip mall. Will def come back to dine in and try their live fish and their bento boxes! read more

So I was surprised to find out the head chef my favorite go to place opened another business in Cypress. I have left a review of this place in Fullerton called "Gichagil" about how amazing the quality of the foods were. Felt like i was in the middle of Gangnam in Korea where everything is Top quality and tasteful( not over exaggerating ). Enough said, i had to check out this new place open followed the amazing sushi Chef. They didnt disappoint my high expectation of this chef is capable to Offer. I ordered Nigiri. Each fish was cut in thick and big enough to cover ideal amount of sushi rice. If this place was located in the middle of Beverly hills, it would be rated as one of the most high end sushi place and no i am not over exaggerating, you wouldnt know what I am talking about until you try them. I really enjoyed every single piece of sushi I ate and this would be my go to Sushi place from now on. Their blue fin sushi is absolutely my favorite and everything else. I think the chef himself has high standard in foods he offers and serves which sometimes matters most in restaurant business. read more

Not a good quality. This is individual sushi and roll place, but all of the fish i got for sushi combo smell so bad, not fresh, and not better quality than any of other all you can eat sushi places. They use rolls that already made a long time ago like spicy tuna roll or California roll that will be base inside of other kinds of rolls.. He cut some fish at sushi bar and then brought it to kitchen inside to hide that he is using old roll that made a long time ago. Do you think people won't know that? The rice was hard and too saggy and became like a cold rice 'cake' lol. Almost was going to throw up at the first bite. I wonder how the business can be well. Was it just for me that he was doing it? This is a place I have passed a hundred times and never tried until today. My boyfriend and I were really wanting sushi and this place is open later than most.
