When I first came here years ago I took one bite and loved it and have been singing it praises ever since....Im probably gonna skip it cause now there are better places... and this isn't as good anymore. They're really skimpy with the daikon slaw... which also isn't as twangy as it used to be. The sauce is still pretty good, fries are crispy and the seasoning is still flavorful. But the main attraction isn't as good, the menu is confusing... and they're trying to follow the trend and added new things like cheese sauce and elote "slaw" which is canned corn with Mayo and crushed up Takis. Legit so annoying, cause I loved this place... I had lunch there and literally so many people came in so confused on how to order/menu is different. We went to this one because it is located right off the 5 freeway. Parking is easy to find (large plaza parking lot), and the shop is easy to find. There is indoor seating, but you can also get take-out. Service was very fast, and the food came out hot. Original Chicken Sandwich: 3/5. The chicken itself was delicious, crunchy and filling. However, we weren't big fans of the caramelized onion ketchup sauce, which tasted like marinara sauce. Spicy Chicken Sandwich: 4/5. It was also super crunchy and filling, but we felt it could have been spicier. The image on the website seems to be redder and spicier, but in person, we were not able to easily differentiate between the spicy and original. However, this one was coated with the special sauce, which was so delicious!! We preferred this one over the original sandwich. Shake fries: 5/5. Fries were very crispy with good seasoning. Comeback sauce: 5+/5. We were given two small containers of the sauce, which tastes like a sweet, spicy mayo. Has the perfect amount of heat and paired very well with both the chicken sandwiches and the fries. Overall, we will come back for the spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and the sauce. I've been going here for years and didn't think to write a review until now. The staff throughout the years have always been cheerful, and they seem to be very close with each other behind the counter, indicative of a good work environment. I've gotten maybe 20 of their chicken sandwiches over the years, and have brought countless friends to this location, 2 blocks away from my house. The sandwich has 2 chicken strips in it, along with their slaw. The slaw is quite good at cutting through the fattiness of the chicken strips, and the pieces of chicken are always MASSIVE. Definitely worth the price. I got the spicy chicken strips this time, and they surprised me with an extra strip in there! If you order the chicken strips, they come with the comeback sauce & ranch. But if you order the sandwich & fries, they only come with the comeback sauce. The elote slaw is just ok, I ordered it a few months ago just to try, and I'd encourage newcomers to give it a shot. I don't think I would get it again though, but it might be someone else's cup of tea. This place isn't open on mondays, I've made that mistake once. TIME: EATEN IN THE CAR RIGHT WHEN WE RECEIVED ORDERED: 3 pc spicy chicken strips ($7.50) and spicy chicken sandwich ($7.50) First of all, I just want to say that I can't stop thinking about the FRIES!!!! I'm dedicating a whole paragraph just to describe the most heavenly fries I ever had. They don't taste like the McDonald's fries where they're thin, crispy fries. Those are good, but these fries are the melt-in-your-mouth kind of DELICIOUS. The outside is perfectly seasoned and crispy, while the inside of the fry just melts in your mouth. There's not too much potato too. It was too good. The bread was immaculate as well. The toast came with the 3 PC Spicy chicken strips and it had a hint of honey brick toast which was amazing!! Out of the 5 chicken shops I've been to, this one actually had CRISPY bread. Other shops had bread that became soggy from the chicken. The chicken was very juicy, but I was sad to see how much breading there was. The chicken sandwich consisted of 2 chicken strips and pickled veggies. It was so good!! I hoped that they would give a big chicken piece, but maybe I was just unlucky. The pickled veggies tasted DELISH and DIFFERENT from other chicken shops. In the store, I saw a whole bunch of fried chicken just stacked up in a huge pile, so I was thinking.. . Does this happen in usual chicken shops? Not sure. Anyways, it seems like they refry the chicken in oil and then season it with spice. I docked off a star for several reasons. First, I think the breading for the chicken strips was too much and there wasn't enough meat. The breading just easily fell off the meat. Also, the breading just tasted like refried chicken which is probably how they cook and heat it. Last, the chicken sandwich was basically just two chicken strips with a bun. It didn't have that traditional chicken sandwich taste in which there's a big piece of chicken, and you could taste the juices and the chicken. I recommend that you simply bring your own water bottle. FOOD ORDERED - Fries ($2). Thick and crispy with fluffy centers. The crispy exterior suggests the use of potato starch or double fry, but I'm not sure. There is something special to them though. They are also lightly spiced. - Spicy chicken sandwich ($7.95 according to my receipt -- though the menu board says $7.5). I paid extra $1 for Spicy and the heat level of the breading was less spicy than hot cheetos. Even the sliced jalapenos weren't very spicy. I was displeased. However, the flavors were there. The Amish bun was soft and squishy yet crisped and maintained structural integrity. I found out the hard way that the crispy battered chicken was not a single breast, but two strips. One strip fell out as I was taking pictures! I managed to catch it. The chicken was cooked well and not dry. As for sauces, the sandwich was wet but not overdressed. I'm ambivalent towards the Comeback sauce (essentially sweet honey and chili aioli). It added some creaminess, but it was quite thin. My younger brother was telling me about this delicious Korean chicken joint called Holdaak in Fullerton, California. It's a great place for their fried chicken sandwich, chicken strips, wings, and fried chicken salad. I've been there 3 times already and I really loved it. For $7, you can get a really good spicy chicken sandwich which it's totally worth getting. First couple times here, I've ordered a spicy chicken sandwich. When I took a bite of it, I was wow'd by the spiciness and their sauce for it. I was hooked. The portion size was nice and big. And quality was excellent. You can't beat this place and their prices. It's pretty reasonable. My last visit, I got a spicy chicken salad. It was also good. Service were amazing. Very friendly approach. They actually make the food and give the order to the customer in a timely matter. And during the COVID-19 season, this is one of very few place that still do self-serve fountain drink which I never bothered using since I don't drink that much soda anymore. But I figured some of the customers preferred self-serve fountain drink over full service (employees filling up the drink for you). We stopped by on a Saturday late morning and got the following: A spicy chicken sandwich, a classic chicken (3 pc) with fries, and an order of 6 soy wings. I really like the packaging, and everything were kept fresh and crisp even for take out. They even provide you plastic gloves so you can indulge in the chicken without getting your hands dirty. The spicy chicken was more than just a spice rub, it's actually spicy! For me, the spiciness was rather intolerable and therefore I didn't have much of the sandwich. They have a unique chicken sauce, quite similar to a spicy version of the raising canes sauce mixed with the chick-fil-a sauce. I didn't find the chicken tenders to be as juicy as I wanted them to be, I was honestly slightly disappointed. Lastly, I would say that the soy sauce chicken wings were quite good. They were juicy and flavorful! I was actually quite surprised since I didn't think the friend chicken were the best. They had a soda fountain for self-service, which I found a bit surprising during these times, but I did enjoy getting refills on soda again. You definitely get a good amount of food. The chicken strips and sandwich were pretty hefty. The chicken sandwich came topped with a sweet sauce, cabbage, and daikon (I think?). It was moist and crispy. The chicken strips were also pretty good. One thing I will say is that they didn't have a lot of flavor, but you really do taste the chicken. I will also say that while I wasn't particularly wowed at the time, I have been thinking about going back soon - I guess they sneak up on you. The wings were good, but again the soy caramel sauce didn't have a ton of flavor that I expect of these wings. The fries are very good, very crispy and almost like battered fries.
