Such a cute, little doughnut shop! Great location next to Philz and Streoscope Coffee, but they also have coffee here! Didn't get to try it but definitely will be trying next time I go! Had to support a hometown 808 business. Their donuts are made from taro! My friend and I went, and chose 4 we thought sounded good that we could eat. It looks like they have 4 "classics" then 4 "tasting" flavors which change. It tasted like it was the same donut and the flavor was in the frosting and toppings only. I forgot the names, sorry but the flavors were: 1. White frosting had "market lime" flavor and there were coconut shreds on top (7/10) 2. Chocolate glaze was delicious (9/10) 3. I was very excited to try the calamansi and mango donut so I'm guessing the calamansi flavor was in the frosting and the yellow string icing was mango. I didn't taste any calamansi and the mango was faint =( and my friend said she tasted a lil bit of mango (3/10) 4. This one was maple with coconut and Hawaiian salt. First bite was delicious maple saltiness then I tried another bite with the coconut pieces but weirdly I couldn't taste it strongly. (6/10) A few things, the concept of a taro donut (it still has wheat flour so they are NOT gluten free) is appealing and I like the different crumb it creates; more cake like. I think it limits flavor when the batter is exactly the same, so then that means production should be faster but it took almost 30min for us and the other people to get our lil donuts. The business kindly apologized for the delay and offered us a drink while we waited (A1 customer service). We weren't in a rush, but give yourself enough time. Umm pretty sure only street parking, or I didn't see a lot. Went on a weekday afternoon so found parking easily but this part of town can get super busy! read more

The three stars is just for the donuts themselves. I love the business' overall mission and 'commandments' around community, sustainability, local sourcing, and real quality ingredients. At the LB location the workers were super nice, and the ambiance was nice (a bit small and not much seating, but great light and open air). Now, about the donuts. I like that the donuts were unique -- made of taro and with coconut oil and with unique flavors true to the business' Hawaiian roots. But I realized when trying the donuts that I just prefer a donut base made with flour. In rank order of the different flavors, these were my favorites to least favorite: 1. Lilikoi 2. L&L 3. Wae Waffle 4. Island Chocolate (I'm pretty sure this is what it was, but I can't 100% remember) 5. Miso Honey And I would say the first four were well above the miso honey. My friend and other reviewers mentioned miso honey being more salty than their liking. The salt didn't bother me; it was just the overall flavor composition of the donut I didn't care for. I wouldn't get miso honey again. I'm someone who really likes citrus, so the L&L lemony donut with the citrus caviar was good. And I love anything passionfruit, which is why lilikoi was my favorite. I'm also a coffee fan, so that's why the Wae Waffle was next for me. I liked the espresso and chocolate flavors. And then the (what I think was) Island Chocolate was a decent chocolate donut. I don't think I would go back, just due to my taste preferences, but I definitely think it's worth a try! read more

My favorite dessert spot on 2nd Street! The donuts here don't taste like the yeast or cake donuts you find at other donut places. I would describe Holey Grail donuts as having a churro-like crispy exterior and a light bready interior. They're unique, which is helped by half their menu rotating on a weekly basis. So good to be back in Long Beach & was anxious to try Holey Grail Donuts. We love supporting small businesses & this small business supports small farms, win, win! We were greeted by two friendly employees who greeted us upon entry. We went with a (4) pack and couldn't have been happier! All the donuts were made on the spot & were nice & and warm. We had the lilikoi and Rick Martinez donuts and they were delicious! Super fresh, you can watch them fry the donuts right in front of you. This does mean you wait a little, but it was still super quick. I loved that they have a record player, unfortunately they weren't spinning any vinyl while we were there. Got the POG and Food of the Gods, for some reason both donuts reminded me of movie theater popcorn. The POG was decorated as ordered but I don't think it adds much to the overall experience. The service was nice and the store was well kept. It's not particularly a place I would go out of my way for or recommend as a must try. read more

I'm honestly disappointed with this location because the mobile order I picked up were not fresh at all. When I ordered from Oahu location even if I order ahead of time my donuts were still warm to touch whirl this ones aren't, quite frankly they were a bit stale not fluffy and moist. This is my first time ordering from this location and I don't think the donuts were supposed to be served in the manner. Surely you can smell coconut oil half a block away, because they usually my indication that I'm near by to Holey Grail Donuts, same as that ones in Oahu, Hawaii. I meant as much I would love to keep supporting this business, this location may not be my favorite. The love that they have different flavor of donuts, keeps me wanting to try them all. I appreciate that they use natural ingredients like coconut oil and taro. I mean you can't go wrong with simple ingredients that were put together to make a perfect dessert (only when done right, of course). Nice warm, moist, fluffy and delicious. read more

Small, but filling, and not too sweet. They are on the pricey side, but it's worth it. Tried a sample of the soft serve, which wasn't my favorite (strong coconut taste, a bit grainy). Kinda novel concept with potato donuts. Unfortunately...they aren't great donuts - just meh, they're still not healthy, and they cost significantly more than your standard wheat flour based donuts. A dozen donuts from Granny's on 4th is like 18 bucks. You get half or less than half a dozen for that price at Holey Grail. Oh, and the donuts have really long names for some reason. We started as a Sunday pop-up in Hanalei, Kauai out of a tiny red hamburger trailer. Our family served fresh taro donuts every Sunday, building a cult following that resulted in 45-minute waits, DJs spinning vinyl, and the world's most delicious donut experience that celebrated our community.

For drinks we ordered our usual and as always made just how we like them. I ordered a Matcha Latte, my latest usual. Nice taste and texture and one of the best around! My friend ordered her usual, Lavendar Honey Latte, and enjoyed it. It was nice having our favorite drinks in coffee cups vs to go paper! For food, I ordered my usual the Breafast Croissant with Bacon. IYKYK their croissants are amazing, then add the eggs, cheese, and bacon, it's just the bomb. Although it's my usual, again, getting it served on an actual plate and being able to sit down and enjoy it piping hot, just special! My friend had the French Style Omelet and definitely enjoyed it. Next visit I plan to try their Stuffed Brioche French Toast! Of course next visit will have to be dinner so I can have some pizza!

My biggest concern, however, is the impact the business has had on our neighborhood. Since Zuzu's Petals opened, we've noticed a significant increase in litter, much of it appearing to be food and drink packaging from the restaurant. Weekend traffic on the sidewalks has become overwhelming, customers often park in alleyways or in unsafe locations, and it has made our neighborhood much more difficult to navigate. We brought these concerns to an employee, but were told there wasn't much they could do. If this business truly wants to be part of the community, I hope they take more responsibility for the impact they're having on the surrounding neighborhood. Encouraging customers to park responsibly, helping keep the area clean, and offering more reasonably priced menu options would go a long way toward building goodwill with the people who actually live here. I always want local businesses to succeed, but right now I can't recommend Zuzu's Petals based on both my experience and the ongoing issues it's created for nearby residents. Also beach cleaning isn't cleaning our neighborhood. That's no support to our neighborhood. Maybe have a neighborhood clean up day instead.

I was really excited to hear that Long Beach was getting a Holey Grail Donuts location! I've been to their spot in Los Angeles and was hoping the quality would be just as good here--and thankfully, it absolutely is. The donuts are super fresh, creative, and full of unique flavors you won't find at your typical donut shop. One thing to note: these donuts are definitely on the pricier side. It's not your standard $1 glazed donut situation. But considering they're made fresh to order from taro dough and topped with thoughtful, high-quality ingredients, you can understand the price point. You're definitely paying for an elevated donut experience here. With that said, be prepared to wait. I knew they made them fresh, but it still took about 20 minutes for my order of just four donuts to be cooked and decorated. It's not exactly a grab-and-go spot, so just keep that in mind if you're in a rush. For me, it wasn't a dealbreaker, but it's something I'd plan around next time. The location is at the old Earl of Sandwich and it has a really welcoming open concept with a patio where you can enjoy the weather and people watch. Overall, I'm really happy Long Beach has its own Holey Grail now. The quality matches what I've had in LA, the staff was friendly, and the donuts themselves were just as good as I remembered--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with flavor. I was thrilled to try Holy Grail Donuts, a vegan haven with a top-notch name, despite the long line. Upon entering, I was impressed by the clean and trendy shop, complete with cool merchandise and a bustling atmosphere. When I approached the counter, I asked the cashier for recommendations, and she suggested the donut holes and a Matcha spritzer, both made fresh to order. While the drink was refreshing and unique, scoring an 8/10, the mini glazed donut holes were a letdown, starting at an 8/10 but dropping to 5/10 after a few bites, and no one else in my group enjoyed them either. It's definitely the kind of place you'd want to stop by if you're in the area and craving something sweet. The donuts are unique and clearly made with care. I'm tired of these new fancy donut shops specializing in "creative" donuts with all kind of crazy toppings like every sweet cereal you grew up with priced like at $5.00 a donut or something. I go in and can tell this is one of those Asian donut shops that opened all over down here in SoCal. I think they might be Cambodian, nothing against Asians making donuts, they're the ones that started using the pink boxes we all know. Asians make the best fried chicken, so why not donuts? I look at all the donuts in the cases and they seem like all the familiar ones. I order a dozen and just point to the ones I want. The even have bear claws. I got one of those just for me. There's croissant stuff too. Service is friendly and efficient. The interior is a little dated but I'm here for donuts, not a fancy date or something. I get the donuts and eat that bear claw on my way back to the hotel to meet up with my crew. Yes, they were surprised to have nice donuts, so nothing like a happy crew to make them get the work done.

There are boutique retail, carry out food places, and Medical offices located in this area. Walking through the parking lot to the entrance along Long Beach Boulevard, it was easy to notice that the area was kept clean - both the parking lot and the drive-thru are spotless. Upon entering the front door we were greeted at the counter with a friendly 'how can I help you.' There were a few people on the inside picking up and finishing up their orders. Classic donut shop ambiance. Everything was clean and the display cases were filled with products. I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted, but I asked what their most popular items were. I noticed like most of the donut shops I've been to, they have a classic croissant ham and cheese as well as a great selection of freshly made donuts. My favorite is an apple fritter. We ordered coffee, a couple of croissants, ham and cheese and two apple fritters to go. As she was carefully packing our box to go she asked if we would like to try the cake glazed donut. What a nice surprise! They were fresh and still warm. As we were leaving there were some people coming in the door to pick up phone orders. There were a few people there for the peace and quiet with something to drink and a pastry. There is also a drive-up window that is very convenient along Long Beach Boulevard. Just look for the big donut! What a great experience and a cute place to discover near my appointments! Just look for a giant donut that says Angel Food Donuts! I think it's cooler than Randy's famous giant donut and the donuts are way better than Randy's. They have a drive trough. You order on one side of the building and drive around the building to to opposite side to pick up and pay for your donuts. I went inside. It's a great, mom and pop donut shop that's been around for a long time. The prices are very reasonable and you can't go wrong with any donut you order. I am a donut aficionado and I think a donut must be worth both the price and the calories. Yes on both for Angel Food Donuts! The coffee is perfect donut shop coffee. There are a few tables if you want to eat inside. They also sell ham and cheese croissants that look pretty good. Also, all kinds of croissants and coffee drinks, tea, soft drinks. etc. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it's cash only. I paid cash anyway but I did see a sign that said cash only.
