Also yes, I can and did read the menu. But we were here during beer fest and were here for a listed fruit beer event. So we just wanted to know if we could get the GABF special brews in a flight. This place was everything wrong with craft beer. It's not rocket science. You can just politely tell me the beer menu is updated and how many pours we can get in a flight. I cannot believe I had never been to Hops & Pie before! I found out about their $5 Detroit-style pizza on Thursdays deal via Instagram and just knew I had to check it out b/c 1. Detroit-style pizza is my absolute favorite and 2. what a deal!! We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Thursday - in time for their happy hour and just before the last couple of tables got scooped up by the rush of people also wanting in on the deal! The place was packed when we got there, but we thankfully got a good seat by the window. Despite the crowd, our waitress was on top of it, taking our orders when we were ready. We ordered beer first - their beer menu is super unique with a bunch of strong beers from different locations. I ended up getting a tasty stout and my husband got an IPA - we were both happy w/ our choices! For food, we of course got a Detroit-style pizza to split & we added feta cheese to it. My husband was worried that the pizza wouldn't be big enough to split, so he also got the slice of the day. Turns out the pizza is plenty big for 2 people to split! Carnitas Tacos appetizer was the highlight along with the homemade salsa The kiddos ordered Pizza nothing special and in our opinion way to greasy. I slept on Hops and Pie for way too long. My girlfriend and I came on a Tuesday night so it wasn't that busy when we arrived so we were immediately sat. We are both big craft beer fans and they had a terrific draft selection. I got the Russian River Blind Pig and she had a Slow Pour Pils. For apps we got the garlic cheese bread. It was unlike any kind of cheesy bread I've had, we loved the cheese sauce that was on it and tasted even better when dipped in the marinara. We split a Detroit style 4 topping pizza and could barely eat the whole thing. It was super good and very filling. My bf and I tried this place out and really liked it. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They had non alcoholic options for me which I really enjoyed, I think I had a mango sour which was tasty. My favorite part of the meal was the garlic bread appetizer. I don't know how they make it, all I know is it was delicious! The pizza wasn't very good which was kind of disappointing since that's what why went there but the garlic bread was the savior of the night. This is the spot that I take all my out of town friends to when they visit, and it's also the place that they always talk about long after they leave. Great variety of pizza to choose from here, although their budget Detroit style has really been my go-to for the last year or so. Rotating tap selections are always 100% on point, and they have regular tap takeover events along with having the juice to secure coveted kegs from time to time (Pliny The Younger has been available here once per year going way back). Another major bonus is their ability to make many dishes vegan, and we have never (repeat: never) had to return an order because they forgot to do the vegan conversion. Wait and bar staff are super friendly, attentive, and on the ball. Yes, this place is extremely popular and snagging a seat at the bar can be tough. Donuts are a recent addition here and those alone are worth a visit. This is one of my top 5 food spots in Denver, and the exactly 1,000 reviews prior to this one provide all the backup I need. read more

Hops and Pie has always been known by beer nerds everywhere as a must stop when they visit denver! Always amazing beers and events during GABF week but honestly there is good reason to go year round! They always get the best beers, so any time you go there will be something new and exciting on, and usually something harder to find! I love that they keep some regulars on like Slow Pour Pils and it seems there's always something from Comrade, which makes me happy. But low and behold this isn't JUST a beer spot...their food is good...like really good. Their Detroit style pizzas are fantastic. I'm going to go ahead and say it...some of the best I've had in denver! And I love that they are always changing up flavor combos for their pizzas of the month. I generally go for that because it's just so dang good, but we recently tried the regular hand tossed and it was bomb as well!! I consider pizza to be one of my favorite foods so I've been wanting to try Hops & Pie for a long time! I finally went and wasn't disappointed. They had a very large selection of beers and other cocktails, both local and from other breweries outside Colorado. We went on a Friday and sat outside, there is a large patio and some awesome live music (The women said there is live music outside on most Fridays). I ordered both a Detroit style pizza and the pizza of the month (elote street corn pizza) on the traditional crust. I'm from Detroit and picky with my Detroit style pizza so theirs wasn't my favorite. It was good enough though that we ate the whole pizza but the real show-shopper was the pizza of the month! It was so refreshing and all of the flavors worked perfectly together. I can't wait to see what the next month's pizza of the month is and try that one as well! I ordered the slice of the day - meat version was some lovely combination of short rib/meat/bacon and mushrooms - it tasted like an upgraded cheesesteak. Went here on 12-11-21. First time here in 2 years because of the pandemic. Looks like they have changed the parking lot into a patio. Which will be great in the summertime but it's winter. All employees are wearing mask. You have to wear a mask to enter but you can take it off once seated. Servers are very attentive and respectful. Always a great place to go. Visited on Tuesday and it looks like this might be the best day for specials on beer ($2 Pils all day) & a couple of pizza and beer combo specials. Wanted to try the Detroit pizza but although solo size it looked quite heavy for just one so went with solo size (10") regular crust. Ordered half Pepperoni/Sausage & 1/2 Pulled Brisket/Onion. The crust was excellent! Very light, flaky and so good you eat the ends. House made sausage and brisket also excellent with a good balance of cheese and sauce. This spot is very much about beer (Hops) also. They have an extensive selection of beers on tap (26+). While I was waiting for my pie, I tried a couple. I liked that they have a 3 oz size which is perfect for sampling. I tried the Scratch & Westbound & Down (liked Westbound more). Took about a 1/2 hour for the pie as they were busy. All of the servers from entrance to bar to takeout ordering were friendly and service minded. A triple D favorite that lives up to the hype! read more

Wow. Hops and Pie's addition of Detroit style pizza elevates them even further. I did a pesto sauce Detroit pie with roasted garlic cloves, ricotta, and sun dried tomatoes, and I'll be surprised if I ever find any pizza as good as it. More or less had to wipe pools of drool up it was so delicious. I haven't had a lot of Detroit style pies, but compared to the place a few minutes away from them that specializes in Detroit style, H&P shits on them. I know that detroit style involved the sauce on the top, but I hope they'll be cool with me asking for it underneath the toppings so I don't have all the delicious (house-made, if I recall correctly) pesto in one spot. Yes, I've done three reviews of the same spot. Yes, I feel it's every bit worthy of the praise they've been given. Yes, it's definitely worth your time. Yes, it's probably crowded. Me and my wife stopped in here last Friday for a pizza and a couple of brews. We have been meaning to come here for some time but have left due to high wait times. This time, we were able to be seated this time within 10 minutes. We were sat by the window alcove which was fine with us because we enjoy people/pup watching. They were playing a good mix of music and we were still able to conversate without having to raise our voices. They had a ton of tap handles on display (just look up) and overall it was a comfortable environment. Solid beer list with some rare finds. I ordered the RR Blind Pig, but when they brought it out, it was the last few ounces of it. I enjoyed that sample and went with a full pour of La Cumbre Elevated IPA. Wife had the shandy. We decided to get a BYO pizza with goat cheese, broccoli and caramelized onions which turned out to be an excellent choice. Colorado is full of yummy pizza places, and this is definitely one of them. I've been here twice, and both times did not disappoint one bit. During the last visit, we ordered.... 1.) Roasted Pear Salad - I'm usually not too big on salads with a fruit theme, but I really really enjoyed this. Everything was so delicately delicious and were really compatible with each other. I can honestly eat this salad everyday of my life and feel satisfied and healthy. 2.) Artisan Pie of the Month - Everything about this pizza was top tier! I've tried two different ones (one in March and one in April) and if I didn't feel like making decisions about my own personal pizza, I can entrust everything into the Artisan Pie. They tend to make it pretty unique with the (generous) toppings and the combination was similar to the roasted pear salad -- tasty! A must try if you prefer flat/crispy kind of pizzas. 3.) Personal Pizza - It was good, but I wish I was more adventurous with the toppings. I just chose a combination of normal pizza toppings and it was just like eating a good, normal pizza. So during a month stay for work in the Denver area, we ate here three times and never ate at another pizza place. The staff is very helpful at explaining beers and recommending pizza choices. The only downfall of this pizza place is they only have one pizza on their menu. All the other is created by the customer. Which isn't a bad thing but we would've liked to have seen more specialty house created pizza choices. They have an awesome beer selection! We just moved to the area and were on a hunt for a new local pizza place (you gotta have one)- well, WE FOUND IT! This place really fits the bill. Crust is soft, yet sturdy enough to hold all the toppings. Great size offerings to feed however many are in your group. Selections are wide and include lots of fun, interesting flavors to choose from. We got the Artisan Pie of the month and I'm already sad it isn't a regular item. SO good! They have lots of outdoor seating and plenty of precautions in place to make it safe to go in COVID times. We ate inside from a very socially distanced place. It almost hurts me to give it only 4 stars but the beer menu wasn't as expansive as I would have expected for something with "hops" in the name. The inside atmosphere leaves something to be desired, and the service was not all that friendly or helpful. Next time we eat here (and there WILL be a next time)- we will order out! read more

We happened upon Hops and Pie on Tennyson as we were looking for something not too busy and that had a nice outdoor space! This place was it! Sparkling Rose was yummy! They have a huge, almost circus-like tent outside that creates an airy and nice outdoor space with picnic benches. It felt safe and nice to be outside! We had the roasted pear salad which was quite nice, though we thought the pear would be warm! Other than that, it was a simple and tasty salad! The star of the show was definitely the Detroit Style Pizza that has four pieces- all pieces are crispy side pieces. OMG. The crust was crispy crunchy perfection. There was baked cheese on the sides.
