This has been a favorite place but the last couple of times makes me think something has changed. Went in yesterday for brunch and it was abnormally loud inside. One of our orders was steak and eggs which normally is a good choice. The steak could not have been more than three ounces and came out much closer to well done than medium rare. I was ready to send it back (Which is very rare for me) but decided to go with it. The brisket omelette is always great, but not quite as good as usual. We asked if we could sub the hash browns and biscuit for something else and the server said she could bring us berry plate. I got the bill and was up charged for the berry plate. Yummmm! I came here because I saw the yelp reviews and I can confirm and attest to it being delicious. Heads up, it's pretty crowded for weekend breakfast and parking was a challeng. I got the chicken fried steak and it was delicious! The crispy bits tasted like they were made of French crispy onions and it was amazing. Had wanted to try this place for some time & finally got there for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The space is pretty cool. And the staff are nice. But I wouldn't say that the food was anything to really rave about. It seems that one of their "specialties" is chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, it was over breaded and overcooked. Spent the night near the stadiums after a concert and wanted to try somewhere new and different for breakfast. Found Hudson on Yelp and so glad we did! This is our new go-to place for breakfast if we are even close to that area!! We like that it is 21+; no offense, but we prefer to enjoy our morning meals sans children. There was a bit of a wait (small place - not many tables) so we grabbed a cup of coffee. We were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar before our coffee even cooled off, so that was excellent. Nice tap beer list, so we had beer with our brunch after we finished up our "go juice". Husband had the chorizo omelet, and it was delicious. I had the shrimp & cheesy grits - wow! what a flavorful meal!! Portions are generous. Neither of us finished our meals, though we gave it the old college try! Highly recommend Hudson. read more

This place is tiny! It will be hard to sit more than a party of 4 here but parties of 1 rejoice. There is a large U shaped bar that takes up most of this restaurant. This is where we sat at. It was the best spot because I could see the chef behind the counter cooking on the flaming stove and watch every finished plate delivered to its table. I saw many plates of pancakes go out with eggs anyway you want it on top! The pancakes were so huge I couldn't even see the plate underneath! I am always torn between the brunch battle of savory vs sweet. Savory usually wins for me. This place has huge portions. Just look at my beef brisket omelette I ordered. Fluffy eggs topped with fried onions. Inside filled with big tender chucks of beef and cheese. Also the warm biscuit is the perfect addition on the side. He ordered the chicken fried steak. Good food - okay service. I came here for a coffee and to meet up with a couple of friends one afternoon and was a little put off by the vibe I got from the hostess/server. It was probably because I was carrying a computer bag with me and my friend had his hood up from the rainy morning cold. Regardless, I felt an odd vibe and hoped it would change after we ordered something. I asked the server for a menu and when I didn't see any coffees on it I asked if they served any since I thought they were known for being a espresso bar in the past. She said the machine had broken down and now they only serve drip. That was fine so we ordered two coffees while waiting for the third member of our party to arrive. As I perused the menu I could not avoid the po'boys staring at me and calling my name. I quickly ordered the shrimp po'boy and within 10 minutes it was out, piping hot, and every bit as delicious as described in the menu. There is little in the way of food or cafe options in this immediate area so they are positioned well to be a high traffic top-notch establishment. I'll start off by saying the food here has always been great. I've been to Hudson several times and have always recommended this place to friends and family with high praise. I've had the shrimp with cheesy grits and the beef brisket omelet with a biscuit which I both highly suggest. Today for some reason, the service was absolutely terrible... I took my brother in law here for his birthday with a few friends (6 peple total) and we could not have been treated with the utmost disrespect from our server. Our server, Jenn, greeted us with attitude right from the start. My friend ordered the brisket omelette with a BISCUIT, but got toast instead. We let Jenn know of the mistake and she argued that that's what the ticket stated. Ok... we just let YOU know politely that IS NOT what we ordered. Whatever, cool... Next, as she was cleaning our table, she picked up my brother in law's plate and dropped the dirty fork and butter knife on him. NO APOLOGY. He was was wearing a white button up which is now stained. I can understand if she was having a bad day and treated other tables the same, but no... the 2 other tables she served, she served with a smile and kind gestures. As we received our bill, Jenn mixed up our tabs and ended up switching our orders. It looked like we were charged for extra toast. Asked her why we were charged for the toast when we let her know we ordered the biscuit to begin with and she tells me "oh, is the toast too much to pay for" WTF... your kidding me right??! I have never not left a tip until today. I should've left with a full stomach and a smile. Instead I left angry and disappointed. You can't have a good day with a bad attitude and you can't have a bad day with a good attitude. I would definitely come back here for the food, but service can definitely use some attention. The food is soooo good here. Everything we ordered was absolutely on point. Try the shrimp and grits or the huevos rancheros.

Definitely one of the more solid brunch places we've been to as far as food and drinks. Just prepare yourself for some grumpy servers. Hudson is small, so when we arrived for brunch there was a 20 minute wait. No worries though. We grabbed some coffee at the little coffee bar and tried to stay out of the way. There wasn't much room to wait since it was too cold to stand outside. We stuck to a wall and sucked in every time a waitress came by. No matter what, the waitresses seemed really annoyed at our presence and I felt bad but there was literally no where else to go. After being seated, our somehow even grumpier waitress came to take our order. We made our choices quickly and our food came out pretty quick as well. The Bloody Mary was perfect and the egg scramble with hash browns was really great too. Honestly if it weren't for the service this place would get 5 stars from me, but like so often in Seattle you can't have good food and good service. read more

Brunch review: Yah this place is worth it and I'm siked to go back and discover more. I had the shrimp and cheesy grits - and the presentation was really cute and the sauce was delicious. Kind of like an ettoufe' (sp?) My wife got the BELT - no complaints there - a good breakfast sammy option. There was a respectable 15-min wait at 1145 am on a Sunday. Self serve coffee and comfortable seating in/out while you wait. I probably could have grabbed a beer too - good local stuff on tap with standard and cocktail menu as well. Finally came to Hudson to start off the weekend journey to central WA. We stopped in for breakfast around 0900 and found seats at the bar; all the tables were occupied. The bartender was friendly and welcoming. We were promptly served waters and given menus to peruse. I decided on the lincoln ave potatoes. OMG, absolute goodness! Perfectly cooked yukon gold potatoes, apples, onions, garlic (and a hell of a lot of it), and cheddar. I added the extra protein of an over-easy egg and bacon. My guy ordered the federal scramble: eggs, button mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and parmesan cheese all scrambled together for a delicious breakfast meal. We've come here a few times and it's a fairly solid spot for a heavy breakfast/brunch. They tend to get busy so if you're trying to get a seat during a prime time, expect to wait. Also, don't expect to have a meaningful conversation here, it's really loud. The last time I came in, I got the Eastsider (1 egg, 1 pancake, 1 veggie sausage). Before that, the Sodo (2 eggs, 2 veggie sausage, 2 pancakes). For being half the size of the Sodo, the Eastsider is pretty filling. The pancake has a bit more of a bite to it than other places but it isn't bad (gf doesn't like it). Nothing a little (or a lot) of syrup can't fix. Food takes a bit to come out. Service is much friendlier when you sit at the bar and not a table. Last time we came in the table and seats were dirty. Not a bad spot though! Definitely a gem in Georgetown. read more

I stumbled upon Hudson on a late Friday morning on a jaunt back from downtown Seattle. My family and I were hungry, so I pulled up the Yelp app and saw that Hudson was located nearby and had pretty good reviews. We arrived around 11:15 AM and though it was pretty full, we were still able to get a booth. FOOD: Legit. We all enjoyed our food! - BELT: The bacon is some of the best I've ever had. Make sure you add avocado which is the icing on the cake. - FISH TACOs: My mom loved her fish tacos. Beware that the mango salsa is a tongue burner, so if you don't like ultra spicy sauce, you might try something else. - FISH & CHIPS: HUGE portions of cod - they make sure you get your money's worth. Both people who ordered this were pleased. SERVICE: Service was a little slow as there appeared to be only one waitress for the dining area. Our food came out at average speed, but it did take us a while to get our check. Our waitress was not very personable, but I don't necessarily expect top service at a diner. This is a south side breakfast, lunch and dinner go-to to for the local industrial workers, firemen, rave refugees (local warehouses around here are sometimes used as pop-up all-night dance halls), rockers and lost tourists. The Georgetown Morgue haunted house is just next door, making this a good staging area for fright-night fall entertainment- just be respectful. Food is diner fare, taken up a notch and served with a side of Zeppelin; Industrial-sized portions of diner classics, plus interesting specials. Fearsome appetites should look at the chicken-fried steak with its beautiful homemade gravy, or the massive brisket sandwich, while lighter appetites might opt for the flavorful Huevos Rancheros or Federal scramble. Omelets have generous goodies. Hash browns and fries are crisp, grits are cheesy, eggs are cooked perfectly to order, and drinks are generously poured. As it should be. They feature some good local taps, a few exotic bottles and some classic working-class brews from various parts of the country. Wine choices are curiously good, and appropriate for the food. Their cocktails are mostly traditional, with a few fun variants and specials. Service is good, no-nonsense and efficient, mimicking the hard-working, hard-rocking, industrial grit of the neighborhood. They keep it quite clean, which isn't easy and which I appreciate. This used to be one of my favorite places to come to in Georgetown. The food was always great as was the service. My favorite was the Friday special Lamb Burger - so delicious! As of lately.. my last 2 visits... food also great but the service was not pleasant at all. Both visits was a different woman and both visits I received hardly any banter (a 180 degree difference from before even on super busy days), cold looks and tones when I was spoken to. Not welcoming at all and each time felt like the woman wanted me to leave. Each seemed irritated that I not only had ID but I was of age. It was very off putting and now that my favorite item is no longer on the menu I really think twice about coming in; even on other days of the week. A lot of my friends are having babies and after moving from Cap Hill (Hipsters, More dogs than kids) to West Seattle (families everywhere), I was admittedly craving an adults-only brunch. Enter Hudson. A girlfriend picked Hudson because she was craving shrimp and grits, and I was thrilled to discover this gem. It's in a rather industrial (read: crummy area), so try your best to park in their lot or on the same street. I made the rookie mistake of parking down the block next to someone sleeping in their car :/ so that was a bit sketchy. Drinks: I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was solid, but it only came with 2 olives and not the extras that I like (cheese, bacon, etc...) but DID come with a side of beer. This evened things out and made me happy. Food: I ordered the "Bowl of Grits" and added cheese. Really tasty. Note: If you're looking for a kid-free brunch, this is a must! Very interesting experience here. We entered after a group of old white dudes who were sat by the waitress quickly, and with what I assume is a smile (it looked pained, but that might be her face?). Before my group could make our way around them to sit down she asked us if we had IDs and told us if we didn't we needed to leave. Mind you, she didn't ask the other group for IDs and we were all of similar ages. We told her we wouldn't be buying any alcohol and she said it didn't matter and that the health inspector lived across the street which was obviously a crock and made it very clear that for some reason she didn't want our group there. So we left with everyone in the restaurant watching. Best part is that before we left, a girl who didn't look like she'd be a year out of high school whispered that she had never been carded here before and she was sorry that this was our experience. read more
