I have eaten here for almost 19 yrs. I think they have a new owner now. I have always loved their food. It's been my sons favorite all this time also. But for the past 6 months or so my son says their beef has gotten more fatty and grisly, so he won't eat there anymore. I still eat there every 3 months or so because I love the charbroil meat. I ordered a meal a couple days ago with the mac salad and pickled veggies. The meat and rice was ok, but the mac salad had NO flavor. It was mayo and noodles, no salt, pepper or other kind of flavor. The pickled veggies were just plain veggies, no pickle on them at all. It just seems that the food quality on some of their items is going down. Sorry Hula Boy, correct your quality of food and we'll be back. read more

4+ stars. Hula Boy consistently makes good food. The chicken and beef teriyaki taste great. Large portion size. I always have leftovers for a late night snack. Love their macaroni salad even more. these guys wrote the book on mediocre. The food is really super not great. Not awful but for the price it's pretty ridiculous. Food has zero flavor and the chicken was chewy and gummy. They charged extra for half-filled teriyaki sauce containers. Cheap!! They charged me for sriracha which they called "spicy teriyaki". When it's good it's good. Hit and miss on the serving size. My advice is to check your order before you leave (if you are doing take out), we have ordered big and small and most of the time they mess up on the orders. Learned my lesson, check order before walking out. read more

Great little place with a big menu. I got the teriyaki burger & potato salad. Both were very good. I even bought a bottle of the Hula Boy teriyaki sauce which they make there. Good service for as busy as it was will definitely go again. read more

Took a friend here today for her birthday. The food was good and the service was pleasant, until we were asked to leave because there was one couple waiting and our table was "needed". We had not lingered long after finishing our meal - would have left within 10 minutes. By the time we put our jackets on there was no one else waiting for a table. Worst customer service ever happened today. Whatever the young lady is that just clocked in at around 11am was horrible, with a major attitude. Instead of apologizing she immediately started saying she just got there and walked away, leaving me standing there wondering where my order was. I placed my order at 1030am waited until 1130am to pick up, while they were all so busy putting orders together, they forgot to take care of the people waiting to pick up orders. My food was cold just sitting on the bar waiting to be picked up. Food looked good though and still tasty but cold. Yummy, casual place, and all around good vibes . I've had most the meats here from Pork, chicken, steak to Kalbi ribs . I think the kahlua pork is my personal favorite here, second to the chicken. All the sauces are very tasty with quite a few of their house made options made readily available. Many choices of sides, the Mac salad is ! Good sized portions. My boyfriend and I have been going here for just over a year, he's been a loyal customer for years. We always loved the calamari and the mac salad. We heard they were getting new owners, and we just got it for the first time since new owners have been there. We are NOT impressed. The mac salad is different, the calamari is CHEAP for the same price as the higher quality calamari we were getting before. We were okay with the prices since we were getting mind-blowing food every time, but I don't think we'll be coming here anymore with how drastically it's changed. Very disappointed. read more

You should probably eat here! It's fast service and quick to get your food. The atmosphere is charming and gives you a local feel. It's always pretty packed every time I have gone in, but that just means your food will be fresh. The whole reason you should go here though is for the macaroni salad! Holy cow. They have the best macaroni salad I have ever had in my entire life. It's so delicious! I normally order the chicken with noodles. (You have to pay extra for noodles). The noodles are okay but not great, the chicken is really tasty and tender. I will keep going back to this place, it's simply delicious and not expensive either. read more

This is the most white washed Hawaiian/Asian food ever, and I love it. Prices have definitely gone up since I was first introduced to this place 4-5 years ago. I almost want to say it's a little over priced, but it's so enjoyable and the serving size is pretty big that I guess it's worth it. I hate to leave reviews like this. I don't know if we just picked the wrong day to order here, but wow... the only thing we consumed in full was the bottled lemonades. We did DoorDash and order didn't make it to Hula Boy until driver arrived so things may have been rushed. Saimin soup tasted old. The calamari didn't come with the dipping sauce it was supposed to and was virtually inedible on its own, no flavor. We added our own sweet chili sauce, but because of the greasiness we couldn't eat much. The Kal-bi was the best thing in the order but was a little on the dry side. The accompanying coconut shrimp was horrible. I NEVER turn down shrimp, especially coconut shrimp, but I just could not eat it. The marinated cucumber side was missing so I can't comment on that, but I think it may have been the star of the meal if it were included. Macaroni salad lacked flavor just like everything else. I think Hula Boy Charbroil was the last remaining Hawaiian restaurant in the Vancouver area that we hadn't tried. It probably should have remained un-tried and we could have saved $50. :( read more
