It is a poor service. Staff at the front is very disappointing. I was there at lunch time and hall was empty and there was plenty of table. But the service staff refused the service bc I came alone. I said I will pay for two persons. So I beg but she said. Sorry. What kind of restaurant is this? They only accept two or more. If one shows up and am willing to pay for two to eat. She said no. So is one person considered non-human, pig? Or cat? What kind of policy is this? I am going to report to consumer affairs if this is the proper policy or discrimination! The hostess and waitress were both very rude we had a party of 4 and we were called to get seated they told us 10 minutes to get the table ready and it actually took about 25 minutes. The food was good as usual. But the waitress seem to have attitude when we ordered. I went to Hwaro as a party of 8, however due to the seating available, we were separated into two groups of 4. Not an issue for us but just advisory for larger groups who may want to sit together. The menu has a lot of items and it's a good price for AYCE Korean BBQ. In comparison to other Korean BBQ places, I had one friend who chose Hwaro because of the appetizer selection. As my first time there, I enjoyed the steamed egg and gyoza. While other places do let you order as you wish, there are certain items, such as the steamed egg, where they limit 2 at a time. So, if everyone at your table wants one, you'll have to wait. There's a really good selection of meats - many talk about the Tomahawk Steak (limit 1 per person). There's a nice sweet marinade on it. Since my table ordered a variety - we only ended up ordering 1 Tomahawk. The king kalbi was really good! It was probably my favorite. The butter shrimp I didn't particularly care for, I felt there wasn't much flavor. When I go to Korean BBQ I never have rice but sub for salad so I don't fill up on a carb. The salad was very good! I also liked the Afrogato coffee dessert because it was a hot day when I went. Atmosphere-wise, it's a little dark in here and warmer than some other more well-ventilated Korean BBQ places. Service was really good and attentive. The server was always around and food came out quickly. All in all, a solid place for good Korean BBQ! This kbbq spot is always a great vibe and has great music. The servers were always helpful when we wanted more beef brisket, as their portion size is fairly small. I'm sad to be posting this review but I feel it needs to be seen by other customers. I have eaten many times at this Hwaro location but today while I was finishing my last order before dessert, my husband noticed what appeared to be a roach crawling on the opposite seat of our booth. I recorded the roach and informed one of the bussers named Juan and he removed the bug with a broom as well as informed our server. The server came back to our table and recorded our video and apologized. He then brought back dessert and the bill and that was it. I found it strange that he did not offer us to speak with the manager or at least a discount. Since we had practically finished our meal by the time the roach appeared I also did not want to make a scene but I do wish I was at least offered to speak to management. I saw someone post about this place on IG and Tomahawk on an ACYE menu is what initially peaked my interest... sounds too good to be true and there must be a catch, well there isn't and now this will be our new go to KBBQ place We were sat as soon as we got there but it was also just after 4 pm on a Friday. There was a wait by the time we got out of there which was closer to 6 pm. We placed our order and literally less than 2 minutes there was meat on our table!!! AWESOME service!!! Servers frequently checked on us and quickly brought over whatever we asked for Everything was great! Oh wait ... quick tip! I love steamed eggs IYKYK, but they add some type of seasoning/sauce that gives there steamed egg a light fishy taste. I did ask our server about this just to make sure my dish wasn't a one off, and she confirmed that there is something in the dish ... so just be aware of this if you're ordering this dish! Wifey & I went for an early Sunday lunch and did their All Day Special for about $28 a person. OH WOW such a stellar deal for that price! The apps and meats were Fast & Furious & Plentiful & Quality! FFPQ KBBQ! HA! Besides the nice & tidy menu for AYCE...the All Day Special had something that stood out to me right away! Dang TOMAHAWK steak! Yah you read that right, TOMAHAWK! An boy oh boy, is it MASSIVE AF! Big enough to share! The beef belly, hands down, stole the show. It was rich, juicy, and everything you want in a cut of meat. The King Kalbi was a close second, but they only let you have one per person, which felt a bit like a tease. The short rib was good, though a touch too sweet for my taste. The pork jowl was solid, but it really shines when paired with that samjaang sauce (make sure to ask the waiter for this). The brisket was solid too, and there were no complaints there. The creamy shrimp and corn cheese were just okay. Bulgogi was not very good... the meat to marinade ratio was quite off due to the thickness of the slices. The ambiance was super cute, and the 2000s punk rock music playing made for a fun vibe. The waiter really added to the experience with really great energy and humor! The team members were so attentive and friendly. My daughter was craving Korean BBQ and we decided to try out Hwaro 2. Hwaro 2 is located at Twain and South Decatur blvd in a small shopping plaza. There is ample amount of parking available. We ended up going to Hwaro 2 as soon as it opened at 11:30, on a Sunday. Since it was the weekend, by default for adults, it is the ALL DAY SPECIAL $28.95 per person. Hwaro's AYCE Rules 1) Order little by little - Left over will be charged $9.50 a person 2) Time Limit 1 hour and 20 minutes The 1 hour and 20 minutes went by so fast! We picked a variety of different options at Hwaro 2 King Kalbi (2) Premium Steak (2) Tomahawk (1) Bulgogi (Beef) Beef Brisket All of the food was amazing. Our favorite was the King Kalbi. It was thinly cut and super scrumptious! The next time we come to Hawaro 2, we're going to make sure to choose the Tomahawk as the last call meat option. It took approximately 20 minutes to cook the Tomahawk. The service was outstanding!! The food was delicious! For dessert, we decided to choose the vanilla ice cream. Service is always a hit or miss. Obviously this spot is always busy, they have been for years. One thing that remains consistent is how dreadful the staff seems to be every time. Our group has come here more times than we can keep track of. Came here for my birthday in April, there were about 10 of us. When it came time to do the obnoxious birthday song, we asked for plates and silverware for my cake. "We can't cut that for you". Sounds good, no problem. I ASKED FOR PLATES AND SILVERWARE SO WE COULD DO IT OURSELVES. We kept the cake in the box and they ended up bringing the plates as we were already departing the table. Last night we came in, again, a party of 9. Our initial server began taking orders and because we had 2 grills, said that it would be more beneficial for us to double orders and split everything on to both grills. We don't eat / didn't want the same things though? We told him again we would prefer to split the orders. He replies, "Trust me, it will be much easier to do it this way." I held back from responding, "Easier for WHO?" I know what this means, easier for staff, easier for kitchen. Less work for servers. Copy. Because it's pooled tip, we had another server help us out here and there, we've had him before and he's usually pretty great. We didn't get names of either of them, they don't tell you when they approach for first orders. When it comes time for the bill, we pay one card. No issues with splits, iykyk. After the "usually pretty great" server drops the check back off, he notices leftover raw meats. "You're not going to eat that?" The grills are off and we're on ice cream already. He then tells us, "Usually we would charge you for that, but I'll let it slide this time." All of us are so burnt out from service that we don't even clap back at this point. We're not eating it because we didn't want it but were FORCED. And we're not paying for that. Obviously he's sticking to policy which I respect, but there was a lack of context and communication between the two servers. This experience won't stop us from coming, but just be reminded that you're getting automatic gratuity out of us, and next time we will come correct. Plot twist: We're ALL in the service industry and know how the negativity could've been avoided. Also, I don't think this location is ran by management, but lead servers/floor supervisors. I assume staff is burnt out because the lack of supervision and help from higher up, so I hope this reaches who it needs to reach. read more

The wait time was ridiculous. The hostess kept saying 25 mins then after 25 mins pass, 15 mins and after 30 mins passed, we check the waitlist on their iPad and there were 14 people ahead of us! With a wait time of 115-145 mins! The place is so small. They need to manage this location better. read more

Like changing out our grill without saying a single word so almost burning my grandma who was flipping the meat type of mute.
