It's this crispy on the outside finger food with delicious crabmeat filling. They have a lot of items on their menu so it is really worth it for the price! Had options like sushi, nigiri, and ramen. The meats were all fresh and great. Service was better than I remembered too. All in all this place is great! The menu is very extensive with appetizers, sides, bbq meats, and sushi! I would consider this place worth its price just based on the quality of the service and items. I've been here in the past when I came to visit, and it seems like they had recently remodeled this location? It's very modern and clean upon walking in! There was over a 4 hour wait at Gangnam so my friend suggested Hwaro. The reviews looked promising as most of them said it was better than Gen and there was only a 10-15 minute wait. Our server was really nice and quick to give us any refills/take orders. The meats however are less memorable than Gen's. Not sure if it was because it was around a holiday weekend so the quality of meat was horrible? There was a fly in our salad as well I took a photo...They don't have a very large selection of side dishes and they don't have radish or rice paper. The meats were not very tender, but rather very dry and chewy/hard. Quality was very sub par. The meats also come in small portions at a time. I wouldn't go here again, they would have gotten 2 stars, but the service was good so they got an extra star for that. read more

Usually this is my favourite kbbq spot. Our server was super nice and attentive, but we ordered a premium ribeye and it came out frozen. We felt bad asking for a new one but did anyways, and the replacement was also frozen. We tried to cook and eat it but it was terrible, we lost our appetites and decided to leave after that. The food is fresh, has flavor, and you are given things to season additionally if wanted. A table full of Korean BBQ staples are brought to your table when you sit. Wraps, veggies, and even a kimchi. We have been going to Hwaro for years but stopped a few years ago due to having a more favorite kbbq spot to go. However, this past week we had friends in town and wanted to see if we could get the 13 of us in somewhere. We had not gone since their remodel and thought it was the same restaurant but just newly redone. I called ahead and asked if they could accommodate our party later in evening and although they don't take reservations, they wrote my name down as well as the amount in our party so they could be prepared later. They also let me know what times we would most likely be able to be seated quickly with such a big party. When we arrived, there were tables available and we were seated as soon as our whole party arrived. Now, I mistakenly called it a kbbq restaurant earlier, but it is now a Japanese bbq restaurant and no longer kbbq. This led to disappointment in part of the group due to their high hopes for a steamed egg (but that was my fault for not catching that it was changed to Japanese bbq). Their long benches in the middle of the restaurant are also gone so we were seated at two tables across from each other. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. He recommended some meats for us and they were all great. Our grill changes were fast and I liked how we got a mini ice cream for dessert. However, I don't really like how they just let all the grease drip on their floor mats during grill changes. They switch the grill out, then carry it, oil dripping off, to the middle where the dirty grills are. I found it a bit gross and our shoes were very slippery. Also one of the benches we sat on moved when trying to scoot out so it was not fastened to the floor even though it's a booth. We were a bit skeptical at first, considering the area. We decided to get the premium bbq. For $6 more, it upgrades the regular bbq with premium items. This seems pretty worthwhile. At first, I disn't get it, but then, after a few times ordering anything that said premium, you can't get twice. I noticed that, for the most part, meat quality is above what we can get in California. We also went to Gen BBQ, and it was good. Beware! Parties of 4 or more get auto gratuity. BUT! We were clearly a party of 2 and still had the auto gratuity tacked on our bill! Itemized says 2 AYCE but table info says 4????? Seems like they forcibly added 2 invisible guests to our table so that it could apply the auto which is some shady stuff.. I will say though that service was great and fast and we still ended up adding a few extra bucks to make it 20% in total but I didn't appreciate that they forced it on us. I was enticed by the choice of having both kbbq and sushi in one. I thoroughly enjoyed the carpaccios and sushi dishes but the rolls can take a while since they're made to order. the spicy ponzu sauce was delicious, I even used some of it to dip the meat. The dipping sauces on the side were a great convenience so you can use as much as you want or even make your own sauce. The meat serving size per order was on the bigger side so I recommend starting off low especially if you're a party or 2 or 3. We were super stuffed at the end and weren't able to go through all the premium items so you know there's plenty of choices and variety. I used to come here with my friends to celebrate finishing an exam a few years ago, but the past few years I switched to other restaurants that I lived closer to. I'm so glad I recently revisted Hwaro as they had a major glow up! I hadn't come since the renovation and it looks very nice and classy. I don't really remember what the menu was before, but I think the selection for even the basic set has so many options. Every single thing I ordered was good quality, but my favorite is the brisket, beef belly, la kalbi, and if you're splurging, the filet mignon. The side orders and appetizers also have such a wide selection that it's easy to get full on them too. Service is great. The food came out SO FAST and I was constantly cooking, I never had a lull where we were waiting on someone to come to our table. Definitely would recommend coming to Hwaro to get your kbbq fix! read more

From the moment we sat down, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, had everything we needed, and understood the menu. Not only was he super attentive and friendly, but his timing was also perfect. He checked in just enough without ever hovering, and he even helped us cook the meat to perfection -- seriously, everything came out tender and juicy thanks to his guidance. He gave us great recommendations, made sure we never ran out of banchan or dipping sauces, and had such a warm, upbeat energy the whole time. It's rare to have a server who makes your dining experience that much better, but Joshua absolutely did. He turned an already great KBBQ dinner into something memorable.
