This IHOP is not for anyone of color. Black people should avoid this place. The servers have this partial selective process in attending to customers. Terrible place Was at this place and after 10 minutes with no approach by any of the servers. I decided to leave. There are about two other customers that came after me. They were well attended to, skin color and language is a huge difference When I was leaving, they just acted as if I don't exist. I even told one of the servers why they are not attending to me. So, this morning was busy. Given that it was Father's Day I expected that. I got in and asked for a table for two. Sat down, the people after me clear also had a party of two but were sat down before me. Strike one. I asked for indoor seating and the hostess said she had no more seats. My family and I have been coming here for many years. Because of the convenience we have continued to come here regardless of the lack of service. Tonight we have all agreed we will not be coming back. Alicia was out server. We were never checked in on, never got refills, never were asked how anything was. I had to get up and ask for the ticket. Which was wrong. She argued with me and said she would not correct it because she would be fired. Eventhough they had them I was quite skeptical, but the cute waitress ensured me that I couldn't go wrong if I got them. We've been to this location a few times. It's okay but not up to IHOP standards. This past week, we went in for dinner because of the kids eat free deal we saw advertised on tv. Service was slow even though they weren't that busy. We got our food in a timely manner. It was just ok. The hash browns were soggy, not crispy. For whatever reason, our server dropped off our food, but never filled our empty water glasses. The only time we saw her come to the table again was to try to clear our plates. I still had food on my plate so I told her not to. We sat around a while waiting for our check when we were done. Our server never came. We eventually just packed ourselves up and waited at the counter for her to get our check. When she gave us our check, we asked why our kids meals weren't free. She said it was because we ordered off the special holiday menu. Apparently you can't do that, but she never bothered to tell us when we were ordering. She just said that we had to say we wanted kids meals for free next time so she knew to tell us what we couldn't order. Wtf? So instead of a $30 check, our bill was $43. Sorry. I came to this restaurant with an empty stomach and haven't been brought my food for over an hour! The service is terribly slow and you could fall asleep waiting for your food. The waiter hasn't even brought our beverages to our table after he ordered them. I don't recommend this location, IHOP of Encino, to anybody. Pay attention to their low stars! The worst food I've ever had at an IHOP and this was for my a sweet sweet senior as a treat since she hasn't ate out in sooo long. The waiter who attended my family and I is named Hugo. When we were seated we were given the menus, he came within less than 5 min of sitting and asked if we were ready to order. I asked for 1 min and he said "ok only 1 minute" came back 5 min later and asked for our order. I asked what page were the appetizers at and he grabbed the page I was on and with this hurry and harshness he took the page out of my hand like he was frustrated that I was not ready, and star ed flipping the pages harshly. As soon as my husband and I were finished ordering he was about to walk away. I stopped him by saying "And for my son" i ordered for my son, once he asked me if he'd like and toppings on his pancakes I asked my son if he was sure of the fruit he wanted. Hugo said "you want peaches?!" In a huge hurry. First of all, we just left the hospital from my son receiving chemo therapy, so his speed or mood isn't up to it right now, he is only 5 years old and they don't always stick to what they decided for in the first place. This was such a horrible experience. This is not the first time I come here, but the very first time I had a ride and inpatient waiter. I have to say that the last few times I've come here, I've been very surprised at the consistency of the food and service. There are so many great items on the menu, but I'm just going to list a couple of my go to items that are super delicious. 1) The Spinach Mushroom Omelette has fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese, in a fluffy (really tasty) omelette and top it with hollandaise and fresh, diced tomatoes. Delish! 2) Banana Crepes with Nutella is incredible. If you don't want a whole order, they will make a half order if you want to have them with your main order. Friendly staff too! read more

I popped in to this Ihop today for brunch with my girlfriend. We were immediately seated, friendly staff, I ordered the breakfast sampler which includes 2 slices of ham, 2 sausages, 2 eggs sunny side up, 2 buttermilk pancakes and hashbrowns, mind you this was a lot of food. My girlfriend ordered a chicken omelette, potato fries, and some creppes as an appetizer. i gave 4 stars because they forget my girl's mashed potatoes but its ok because it was a lot of food to begin with. they have a great selection of food. Wow, what a change in service and food quality. The waiter only gave me a cup of coffee but never came around for refills and originally my coffee was not hot- I ordered my T bone steak medium rare and weirdly one half if the steak was cooked properly but the other side wasn't- before I ordered the steak I had asked the waiter if the beef quality was good in which he replied that it was very good- the steak quality was selected from the bottom of the barrel- The other unfortunate experience is that upon entering the restaurant itself was blaring with Mexican music- I literally had to peruse the restaurant for a table of mariachi band that must have been singing aloud despite how miserable sounding the loud music and workers yelling in Spanish to other workers. Solution: turn off the music- one cook was even singing loudly to the Spanish music, I thought I was in a hacienda. Never once was I asked if I wanted a cup of coffee but when I mentioned it to the waiter after an hour of sitting, he advised me that there was a carafe of coffee filled at my table-it would have been nice to know because I seriously never noticed it. The steak and 3 eggs where as I was only given two runny eggs were $15.00 plus was horrible. Well the manager took $9.00 off my meal- yet, nothing I ordered was edible but 1/2 inch of the steak. Eggs were not over medium and were runny. So I spike with the manager myself where I advised him that I was being charged for three eggs where there were two, I was forced to listen to the cooks sing while cooking in the kitchen, Spanish greatest hits and can only say that my experience was an epic failure! I always associated Ihop with a negative stigma. It reminds me of a super cheap, hill billy low class diner with bad taste and low quality food. however I would find myself here eating egg whites and unlimited coffee to study since it's open 24/7 and I had a lot of studying to do (boo no wifi but I made it work). I surprisingly felt safe even if it was late at night/early morning. However it has been a long while since then and today I happened to have to drop someone off across the street and I was hungry looking for a place to go over a few things. "Should I like go to IHOP?!" I asked myself. So basically my experience went like this: Parking was easy I walked in and its pretty crowded but there was SOO many people working there that I did not feel a decrease in service. i was greeted by a bunch of the workers and although the place is really small and I kept getting crammed walking past the kitchen, everything else was pretty good (clean single bathroom). I ordered a salad and a drink which I am kinda surprised, tasted pretty good... Now for the reason I am writing this review: My bill plus tip came out to over 20 effing dollars....for a drink and salad... at IHOP.... I actually decided to come here because I felt like I was spending too much at the whole foods hot bar and nice sushi eateries but I mine as well of gone there anyways...however it was actually an ok experience...although i was shocked by my bill. Dine Equity owns IHOP and they are actually a pretty good mid cap company in my opinion...id probably suggest investing in it at this point after what i witnessed today. They are attracting A LOT of customers at all times of the day and the prices aren't even that good and they aren't even paying a lot for ambiance (everything is outdated yet clean) and these waiters cant be paid THAT much compared to these other more bougie hot spots SOOO they must be making some good profits over there... oh and they never rush me despite brining my lap top in here all the time and working. I was hoping by the end of this review I would know how many stars to give them...but I cant even tell if I like them or not. 3.65 stars! read more

We walk in, there are two girls by the front register doing absolutely nothing but chit chatting. We were waiting there for a good 5 minutes until the cleaner sat us down. No customer service, no acknowledgement of us walking in at all. Those two girls should get fired. The blonde hair one and a brunette. Especially the blonde one because she didn't help check out a guest and asked the cleaner to do it and he told her "Don't be lazy, you do it". Great breakfast for its price. They don't have the Nutella crepes any longer which is sad. I ordered a regular French toast and Pancake combo for 2 and coffee for 28 not bad. My only issue is sitting outside random ppl come by and say hi and we were approached by a homeless so we gave him our left overs so he can leave us alone.
