11-25-22 My 1,500th review was saved for something special. In this case it is my long awaited visit to In N Out Burger. Florida where I reside at this time does not have one unfortunately. In planning my trip out West I knew we would have time in Phoenix to go for lunch. So we headed over to the closest one from our hotel in Downtown. We parked out front and once inside they were extremely busy. They make your order fresh and call you when it's ready. I ordered a single hamburger with grilled onions, lettuce and tomato with French fries. My husband got a double cheeseburger raw onion,lettuce, tomato with fries. To drink my husband got Root Beer to drink and I got a Neopolitian Shake. It's not on the menu however in my research I found there is a whole cult following to this place. It let you know what items you can get such as this shake and grilled onions that are not listed on the board. The fresh ingredients make the difference. This restaurant seems like it is back in times to the fifties when there was no preservatives and everything was clean and nice. It was delicious. This place offers diet lemonade, which not a lot of places offer (Chick-Fil-A's diet lemonade is unsurpassable). The burgers are freshly made and cook medium well (hint of pink) and not dry or a carbon dated. The buns are perfect with a light crunch but still soft. The stacked crispy lettuce and fresh tomatoes to me, make the burger so good. I want so badly to like the fries but they just don't make the cut. I know they are fresh but they lack a light salting and not a great crispy taste. The burgers here a good and well assembled. The fries are the weak link. The person I was with ordered a 3x3 and fries. We both were surprised at how salty the food was. I'm not sure if this is how heavy-handed they usually sprinkle the salt, or if it was just a fluke. The double double was so salty, that my ankles were swollen by the time I got home. I have never had that problem with In N Out before. Tomatoes, lettuce and onions were all fresh. Now, the prices here are really incredible, especially compared to spots like Shake Shack which I hear people make comparisons to. $2.55 for a cheeseburger?
