Came here about 45 minutes before closing and was seated within 5 minutes. I ordered a beer, the Akamaru Modern, and a side of corn. The beer was cold and crisp, and the corn was super tasty--I loved the Japanese-style seasoning on it. I don't know if it was just the long day of traveling, but the ramen really slapped. The broth was rich without being too heavy, and the meat was tender and delicious. Some ramen bowls can feel a little too rich for me, but I finished this entire bowl in 10 minutes. Loved this chain, solid location, and I'd definitely come again.

One of my favorites Ramen locations which happens to be near by the Powell Bart station. Once inside you will be pleasantly surprised after passing the curtains to see a seating of tables and a vibrant ambiance. We ordered edamame for the table, it comes with a yuzu like salt. Which trust me you reaaaallly need to love yuzu otherwise just eat it without the salt. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, which I would admit could have been spicier but that is just a preference. The broth is always delicious, hearty and the noodles where also, extremely tasty. The service is always good, they move fast, and they are always ready to make any recommendations if needed.

Windy and cold in SF tonight, so we decided on Ippudo ramen before watching Supergirl at the Metreon. The host asked if we and another party of 4 wouldn't mind sharing a long table, so both parties agreed. The place was extremely busy!! Our orders were taken pretty fast, and the steaming bowls of ramen came out shortly after. The tonkotsu broth brought back memories of Japan where Ippudo ramen shops were everywhere, in the malls or train stations....yes, Ippudo is a very popular chain. And here it tastes as good!! The menu has expanded over the years, but we just wanted a quick dinner before the movie so we all ordered the same thing. Sharing a table must be confusing for the waiters, they kept asking which party had what ....

Came on a wednesay afterw work and no wait. Flavor of the broth is fire. The edanamae taste like beans so no complaint there. Close to Bart station

100/10 would go again. I can eat that seasoned cucumber everyday, and I don't even like cucumbers. The Karaka Spicy Ramen was a fan favorite-- broth was perfect and the poached egg was a must making it even more rich n creamy. The bun medley (tempura shrimp was my fav) and spicy chicken karaage was a great way to get this delicious dinner started. The ambiance made me feel like I was in Japan again. Overall a great experience!

Came here after a long day at the Super Bowl experience. We did a walk-in for four. The wait for a table was 20 mins or we can share a large table with random people and be seated immediately. We were hungry. We went with the large shared table. Pleasantly, there was more than enough room. There were at least 1-2 seats in between the three groups on each side that were there- a solo diner, a small family of 3, and my group of 4. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, my bf ordered Akamaru Modern, his sister ordered Miso, and I don't remember what her friend got- I think it was also Karaka spicy. My bf and I ordered the Treasure plate on the side to share and a side of spicy paste because I know Japanese spicy is barely spicy (from someone who grew up eating SEA spicy). Karaka Spicy had a nicely balance tonkotsu mouth feel and pork flavor. Broth was a little salty. I was correct to assume that it wasn't spicy because I used half of the side of spicy paste and I still didn't think it was spicy enough. Chashu was cooked fine. Notes: - I wished I would've asked if they could swap the thin noodles for the thick ones. I love the chew thicker noodles provide. - Noodles were cooked al dente. Akamaru Modern tasted very similar to Karaka spicy without the spicy. My bf used the other half of the spicy paste as dip for his toppings. He enjoyed it. Miso was a lighter broth (obvi) with a good umami flavor and was not watered down. Solid. She loved it. I have never seen her finish a whole bowl of ramen before. There was a server in training that took our order with the help of the trainer- he did great. Staff was attentive with our waters. Bussers were also quick to notice and remove empty plates and bowls regularly making for an easy clean up after we leave and kept the shared table clutter free. Interior was modern, but casual. They had an expansive menu with vegetarian choices, sushi, buns, karage, etc. and a surprisingly large array of alcohol. I would def like to be back to try some drinks.

Chill spot! Good level of nice but not snooty. Lots of vegetarian options which I really appreciate, and the drinks were super yummy!

Service and Staff: - We waited about 10 minutes and were asked if we wanted an individual table or if we were okay with a community table (we went with the community table) - Our server was nice - we were put off a bit though from a random staff member that came over and started very loudly telling us it would be $4 if we wanted to add more spice to our ramen. This communication was loud, repetitive, and unnecessary - Scan the QR code at your table to view the menu. A server will then come and take your order Food and Drinks: - Sake: flavorful and smooth - Dragon Tantan: the sesame broth was flavorful and this bowl definitely came with a kick of spice from the Szechuan flavors - Spicy Miso: another spicy ramen dish punched with flavor - Yuzu Shoyu: fun mix of flavors between the shoyu and the citrusy yuzu. Not your typical ramen flavors Miscellaneous: - Good for groups up to about 6 people - Bathroom is located in the back of the restaurant - Fairly loud given the amount of tables in the restaurant

Great ramen and beautiful restaurant! When you first walk in, you don't see the seating area, but when you're guided back, it's so spacious. There are many tables and also shared tables if you have small parties and are open to it (they double check if you're okay with that!) We got the karaage and each a bowl of ramen. The karaage pieces were huge and I enjoyed them, definitely filling. I got the yuzu ramen with their spicy ball on the side, which was a great decision. The spiciness really brought out the yuzu flavor in my opinion and was so unique.

Pricey for what it is. Portions are not very big. There's also very little soup for the amount of items in there, and staff refused to add even a little bit more of soup, which is strange from a customer service perspective. If you want a regular "ramen experience" a lot of the stuff (even the egg) is extra, which feels very nickel and dimey...

First time I went to the sf location since the first location in Berkeley opened 6 or so years ago. Staff were friendly and the food was good. We got seated and served quickly. I got my shoyu ramen because I like to compare this with all other ramen shoppes. It was good and solid but nothing strikingly out of the ordinary. Noodles perfect texture Broth has enough umami Porkx slices good Perfect medium boiled egg Love the bamboo shoots Oh and it's also convenient to have the baskets next to my table to put my coat a shopping bags.

Beautiful restaurant - you walk through the paper wall to get to the dining area, and it feels nice and private back there. I was really impressed with the overall design. I got the miso ramen. It was really good, but not on the same level as some of the other top ramen spots in SF. Prices are reasonable, and the service was great. Overall a solid ramen option!

    YUZU SHOYU (DD)
    Yucy J.

I quite enjoyed the ramen. Got the modern tonkatsu, which i liked, and my husband got the shoyu (he thought was decent, not amazing); tried three buns cause it was happy hour; i liked the pork the best, and my husband liked the chicken the most. We both agreed the shrimp one was subpar. I liked the vibes too. My complaints: to add an egg, it was $4... I didnt realize it was the price of like two at any other restaurants until I saw the bill cause the waiter just asked if I wanted one (i thought it would be max $3 and even that is really pushing it). That was my fault for not double checking though. The service was really slow for a ramen joint. Employees were friendly but service was pretty underwhelming

Broth is rich and is not too salty like almost all other Japanese ramen. With a location so convenient, will definitely come back.

Is ajitama offered as a topping?

May I ask. How the happy hours work?

    Does the ramen contain nuts?

There are no nuts in the entire restaurant

    Do they take reservations?

No, get there early. If you’re not there when they call your name, they will give away your spot.

Are there vegan options on their dinner menu? It doesn't have to be ramen.

Yeah they have two vegan ramens, I like the akamaru veggie the best. The veggie ones come with different noodles that don't contain egg.

Do they have non-pork broth option?

    They have a vegetarian option

What are vegan ramen and bun options?

    Vegan ramen. Just ask.

What's the best time to go for lunch? Are they crowded if we go for late lunch like 1/2pm?

No, we got here around 2 on a Sunday and there were only a few parties here

Does their signature dashi have fish stock in it?

There's one ramen on the menu that has a mixture of the porks an fish stock.

No phone number or website. Is this location still in business?

    Yes, the number is 415-348-1202

Do you guys open on Christmas Day? Any reservations?

Not sure about Christmas Day but they don't take reservation

Can someone confirm that their eggs is now hard boiled and not semi-translucent on the inside?

You request the egg the way you want it.

Does the SF Ippudo offer a gluten-free option, like the New York ones do? A friend of mine has a gluten allergy.

I've inquired numerous times but they currently do not.

Since there are no reservations to get seated, do you just write your name down on a list and wait to be called?

You'll wait in a Disneyland like line until the hostess asks for your name, she'll call you when it's your turn to be seated.

He was unconscious, shaking, thrashing, sweating and groaning. The staff immediately came to my side (as well as customers) to help me. They called 911 at my request, and once the EMTs arrived they were helpful and truly concerned. Not just trying to get us out of the way. Shaking, I tried to hand over my credit card while the EMTs took my husband on a stretcher. The manager said "No, no.. it's fine, it's fine," with the kindest look in his eye. This would have been our third visit because the food is sooooo good. But now I'm basically going to be their cheerleader to anyone who will listen. I could not be more grateful for their grace and aid while I was in near hysteria. Kindness still exists. And so does genuinely good food. PS: it turned out to be dehydration, but it was scary AF, kids. Drink. Your. Water.

The ambiance is extremely loud in there and the tables are very close together. So if you're looking for a quiet, less crammed space, this isn't it. The actual restaurant looks very nice, but not sure why the bar seats face a storage area with clear windows. As for the food, the calamari was delicious, they give you whole pieces of little squid. The ramen broth is very hearty and bold. When I was halfway through, it became a little too much. I do wish you're able to pick the thickness of noodles. I didn't like the thin noodles with the ramen. It actually reminded me of instant ramen. But to each their own with noodle thickness. I just wish there were options. I almost wish there was something else in the ramen to balance out the flavor besides more bold flavors from the pork and egg. It does the job but wasn't a huge wow factor. As for the service, they are pretty attentive. I didn't like how one of the servers kept hovering around the entire time grabbing anything they could off the table. The second we took off the wrappers of the chopsticks, they grabbed it. Usually I like the table cleared out to make space but it was the constant hovering that was awkward.

This dish stands out as one of the most memorable and flavorful offerings we have experienced. The rich, creamy broth delivers a perfectly balanced umami depth, harmoniously combined with subtle heat and aromatic spices that create an indulgent yet refined dining experience. Both my partner and I were thoroughly impressed by its complexity and comforting warmth, and we have continued to crave it long after the winter season. The Umami Creamy Tan-Tan-Men soup represents a true highlight of your culinary repertoire. We believe it deserves a lasting place on the regular menu, where it can be enjoyed year-round by loyal patrons and new guests alike. We were recommended a spot in the Japantown Center Mall, but settled on Hinodeya after checking Yelp. It turned out to be a great choice. We were greeted upon entering the restaurant and someone rang what to believe to be a gong?! It was a very fun addition to our experience. We were shown to a table and started browsing the menu. The interior was very clean and neat. There are plenty of options, including some for vegetarians/vegans. My two vegetarian friends ordered both of the vegan/vegetarian ramen options and were raving about them. I ordered the Hinodeya (house) ramen and it was delicious. The broth was so flavorful and the noodles were perfect. The table is set with crispy garlic or onions (can't remember) and a chili blend which were yum on top of the ramen. My friends ordered the spicy miso ramen and was satisfied despite it not being very spicy. We had great service the entire time and the prices were very reasonable. Hinodeya is a gem I will be revising on future trips to San Francisco!

Gretted when we entered, we slid into one the few open tables. The decor was charming, and we were quickly gretted by our server with menus and water. My sister and I split some appetizer items so we could try various items, and every single dish was a taste sensation. The gyoza was crisp on the outside while packed with a savory meat, drizzled with sauce. The Karaage was tender chicken encased in a light fried pankostyle casing, also drizzled with a sauce, and the flavor, each bite was satisfying without being too filling. The Kabocha Kor, were panko fried pumpkin patties with a tonkatsu style sauce that brought the taste buds to a more earthier place . The Tokoyaki, were tender fried octopus balls in a sauce that I would have been happy to hunker down with a large bowl of and just crush, easily my favorite bite, which is saying something as no bute was bad . We closed with an order of Hotate, which was a grilled scallop skewer. Somewhere between sea and bay scallops in size, they were an awesome cap to the dining experience. With a this, I washed it down with a peach-weizen beer which was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Every dish was fantastic in flavor, sauces, and texture. On top of all this, the service was excellent, and the happy hour prices very much in reason.
