Been meaning to check out Izzy & Wooks for a while now since they have such a unique menu! I got the tamarind hot chicken and it was very crispy and juicy. A solid fried chicken sandwich but I wouldn't say it's hot or spicy at all. The flavors were really delicious though and if you take out the "hot" part, it's still a good sandwich. Also got the lumpia which was so flavorful and freshly made too! It comes out piping hot which is great, but just don't bite into it right away. My co-worker also said she preferred the smash burger she had the 1st time over the tamarind burger. I had the adobo burger and do wish there was more of the adobo flavor but it was a solid burger and was very satisfying. We were disappointed with how little seasoning there was for the furikake fries but I absolutely loved that they have such crispy battered fries. The longanisa poutine was a big disappointment as it didn't have any flavor with soggy fries. The fried cauliflower was interesting w/ the pickling and crispy but not as good as the fries. The co-workers I went with are both Filipino so of course the lumpia wasn't "as good as mom's" but it did have a nice crisp. I also thought the flavor was fairly muted. Manny (one of the owners) and later a female (maybe his wife?) stopped by while we were eating during our 1st visit and asked how we liked the food andif there was anything they could improve (which I appreciate that they're open to feedback). We did mention that the furikake fries barely had any seasoning so maybe that will improve. We will return to try the shakes once they're ready. My first time here and the food was real good! I think they messed up gave me an extra burger patty in my mini burger, loved the sweetness from the banana ketchup onions. Those lumpias were so crispy and delicious!! one of the best I've had. Not the fault of the restaurant, they tried kicking out a homeless person, then that guy tried coming to me to harass me while I was waiting for my food! But one big issue, the ink from their stamp on the burger wrapper started bleeding onto my burger bun and my hands! That's pretty gross, I don't want to eat ink! I dropped by a couple days before their grand opening and got a chance to chat with Izzy a bit about the menu. She gave a couple recommendations, but I ultimately opted for the Tamarind hot chicken sandwich to try first. It had some spice, a little tangy and actually really well balanced with the slaw in the sandwich. I had hoped to be back for the grand opening, but circumstances prevented me from it. I really want to try the sisig fries and longanisa poutine because they sound amazing! There are a bunch of items that I hope to go back and try soon! They're located on the outside part of Metreon and there's a good amount of seating inside. You can order from the register or at 2 of the kiosks inside. The portions and sizes seem to be on the larger side while still paying standard Downtown SF prices. Just happened to be hungry for lunch and walking by on the way to the Metreon on 4th street. My kids actually found this spot...because if the sidewalk sign. My teenager loves chicken sandwiches so it caught his eye lol. So they are having a Grand Opening on 4/10. Currently on their soft opening. We decided to try out the soft opening menu even if it was limited. Ordered the Sisig Chicken Fries, Tamarind Hot Chicken Sandwich (Mild Spice Level) and the Adobo Portobello Sandwich. It was all so delicious and tasty! My favorite was the Adobo portobello because it reminded me of a mushroom burger, which is my usual choice when I order a burger. It has pork adobo meat and portobello mushrooms, I enjoyed it. The Tamarind Hot Chicken is their Mild level chicken sandwich, if you like spicy you might want to consider their "scorpion" it's indicated as a level 7 spice. The chicken sisig fries is super tasty, served with a fried egg on top. We eat every single bite and everything was enjoyable. I heard about the grand opening through the Yelp app when I saw the ad. I saw the buy 1 get 1 free deal on the grand opening day during lunch time, so I came to check in out. I was really curious about what is Filipino burgers and wanted to check it out since there isn't much Filipino food in SF. The food here is fusion with American food that's added with some Filipino flavors. I found the crispy mochiko chicken burger being very crispy and yummy. I'm glad I asked the staff what is the adobo portobello burger. The name made it sound vegetarian, but it has a pork pattie in addition to the mushroom, which is awesome. Looks like it's a Filipino-American fusion fast food place. I ordered the mochiko fried chicken sandwich since it seemed interesting that they used mochiko for the batter on the fried chicken. I love it. It wasn't spicy and it had the other usual stuff like slaw and pickles for toppings. I think I'd definitely try the adobo burger when I check this place out again. It was delightful to find a Filipino restaurant in my first visit to Saluhall. And what tasty food. I had the BBQ pork belly bowl and four lumpia Shanghai. The eggs were silky and somehow stayed together well in a sandwich. The pork belly is incredible. Even the kimchi comeback sauce adds a nice twist and kick. Using the kiosk was simple and allowed you to take items on or off whatever you ordered but I wish there was an option to put items like sauces on the side. When placing the order on the kiosk you're given a number and can scan a QR code for your receipt. The lobby was cleaned immediately when tables left. I counted 10 tables with two seats and 2 tables with 4 seats. There was only one other table of three when I was there but the employee had a little voice so when she called out my order of food the other table almost took it- maybe they should have a mic so people can hear their order. The sandwich was good, not the type of chicken I prefer but the flavor was great. The furikake fries were spicier than I thought they would be so I was unable to finish them. There's free lemon water next to ketchup and mustard by the front register. Bathrooms were located around the back down the hallway. One of two was out of order. I politely asked for a bag and lady behind the counter (who was nice) said 25 cents. I didn't realize there was a buy a bag option through the kiosk and she said sorry. Came for the grand opening and the deal was quite nice, but the food is unremarkable. Was able to get most of the things on the menu and nothing was amazing. Everything I got was acceptable with a slight Filipino twist, and in typical burger fashion do not look as appealing as the photos would suggest. The smash burger was a smash burger with a very "slight" Filipino twist, the chicken sandwich the same. The adobo portabello was more unique and probably my favorite of all of them. Overall while tasty, it's not really anything incredible and barely differentiates itself from the Super Duper burger around the corner besides being $3 more expensive. Pretty average, and WAY OVER-RATED on Yelp. The flavors were good, not particularly amazing though. Maybe a unique concept, but really nothing to brag about. They have decent sandwiches. The portions were certainly average, if not a little on the smaller side. The service was average, perhaps below average. It took forever to get the food - about 20-25mins from ordering to get two sandwiches and a lumpia. They also mixed up orders/almost gave me someone else's at the 15-20min mark. There was no line at the time, and maybe one or two other orders total, that I visibly saw in my 30+ mins there (no other delivery or other people walk up in that time). The ambiance is a food court. Not great for anything other than a quick "fast casual" bite. But it wasn't fast, and it wasn't very casual bc it smelled funny in the food court/emporium. read more
