Thier google page says open at 6am. Every sign on the building says open at 6am. There are even multiple signs on the building that simply say "open"... I arrive at 6:20am and there isn't a soul in the building or even a car in the parking lot. If they are this disorganized with hours of operation. I can assure you there are nightmares to be uncovered in the kitchen. I would stay far away from this place. Too many great breakfast places in the Reno/Sparks area to settle for such incompetence. read more

January 20, 2018 Saturday - 10 AM for breakfast 2 Adults Atmosphere - 3 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - I want a big Breakfast before a day of shopping, which I know will cover me for lunch too with the late start today. Atmosphere - They took over the space after a chain restaurant pulled out of this location. Maybe the chain failed national, not sure. I do not think they changed a thing. The place is fine but needs a good cleaning. I could see dust on the ceiling fans, and I was not even close to them. The furniture has some serious wear and tear on them. Food Drinks - Just water this morning, I already had my fill of Philz coffee at home. Breakfast - I had the giant breakfast burrito, no that is the name on the menu and it was large. It was pretty standard breakfast burrito with sausage, eggs, onions, peppers, tomato, and cheese. Great balance of the flavors. The tortilla was nice and fresh. The best part was large chunks of sausage. You could not miss those flavor bombs. Service - My order was pretty simple, while my wife asked for few changes to meet her dietary needs. We have gone to the location in Sparks a couple times and decided to try the location on Wells this Sunday for breakfast. Pros: got sat quickly, food was fast. Cons: poor service; had to correct the busser on the drinks we ordered, only got one refill on our coffees which was at the end of our breakfast, the server did not check on us to see if we needed anything else until we were almost done with eating, the chicken fried steak was very chewy without any flavor and the gravy did not have any flavor, the biscuits were dry and there were open empty creamers in the bowl on the table. We saw the bussers near the drink station talking with each other and on their phones most of the time. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the food and service. read more

There was so much food that we are taking some back to our room. The service was great and the coffee was very good. The place is a gem! read more

Jack's took over the space previously occupied by Carrow's on Wells near I-80. Their menu is extensive and the portions are substantial. I ordered the Country Style Breakfast. 2 eggs, choice of meat, potatoes, and biscuits with gravy. I asked to leave off the potatoes and for my bacon soft. The order came out correctly. The over-easy eggs were cooked through with a nice, runny yolk. There were 4 biscuits with gravy. I might have liked just a tiny bit more gravy but there was enough to mostly cover the biscuits. I guess it's possible that there were 2 biscuits split in half but they were quite large and fluffy. The meal was delicious and the service was good. My coffee cup was never empty. I also like that they have flavored creamers on the table. I'm looking forward to trying some other breakfast items and maybe hitting them up for lunch one day. read more

Update: My husband and I have decided this will forever be our go-to for breakfast/brunch. I decided to try the Chilaquiles... TO DIE FOR. I love anything spicy and the red chili definitely has a kick to it. I get my eggs over easy and mix it with the amazing potatoes. Also get extra sour cream and pico de gallo. We've been every Saturday since!! Still super clean,everyone is really friendly and service is fast! 10/10 read more

I love timey diners shops like the ones from the 50's and 60's. I grew up eating tuna melts at Woolworth's five and dime lunch counters. My go to in Reno has always been Gold N Silver but then a friend recommended Jack's. Very nice service, old fashioned family feel. Variety of diner dishes to choose from including great pies. I'll be very sad with Gold N Silver closes but I now have a new favorite diner. read more

Sunday afternoon and the place was packed, so my first thought was Yay the food has got to be good. The burger I ordered was dry and crumbly and not very appetizing. My mom liked her breakfast, she said her pancakes were light and fluffy. All of the hard surfaces made the noise level unbearable and very annoying. I could not hear what my mom was saying sitting across from me, we literally had to yell at each other. I probably will not go back. read more

I am glad Jack's took this old carries restaurant over. It sat vacant for awhile, now Jack's looks like it is doing well here. I have been to the Jack's on Victorian Ave, and the one south of town before it closed. Jack's is a coffee shop, nothing special, but consistently good food and friendly staff. There portions are big, so come hungry. I ordered the leaner meaner. It comes with a half pound burger patty, cottage cheese, and fresh fruit. The fruit was delicious and was filling just by itself. The meat patty was a bit overcooked, and not fresh meat. Overall it was a good meal, if in area I will try again. read more

This coffeeshop is located on wells Ave, just off of Interstate 80. It looks like the old carries that was there for years. Parking is a breeze, with a private parking lot. There are quite a few booths to sit at and the restaurant can accommodate a large group. We were seated right away and our drinks were brought to the table. I ordered a chicken Cobb salad. It came with cucumbers, tomato's, onions, hard boiled egg, bacon and croutons. The chicken was grilled and had a delicious BBQ flavor. I asked for the dressing on the side. I'm not giving Jack's five stars because their food was incredible, because there are plenty of restaurants in Reno that have incredible food. I'm giving Jack's five stars because they have great food, and awesome service! As others have already said, my coffee cup was never empty, the food was wonderful, and the servers were working very hard to make sure all was good! Yes, this is an old Carrows restaurant, and nothing much has changed, but they are doing it right. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which I would give four stars. Wife had a spinach omelette, which she gave five stars. If you want to give your breakfast a little punch, order a couple of deep fried jalapeño peppers! They were awesome! Food was INCREDIBLY bland. I've never had muchy hash before today and the flavor was so bad and it was the only thing with flavor. My 6 year old who eats everything and LOVES biscuits and gravey wouldn't eat past two-three bites it was so bad. I tried it and he was right. Gross. He ate some of mine but between both of us not wanting to leave hungry there was still food on my plate and his was mostly untouched. We will not ever go back as there other location is much better. Even the coffee cup was so beat up the rim was chipped all the way around so evertime I took a drink it felt like I was putting my lips on little pebbles. Paid over 40 bucks and I feel like I would of got more for my money and better quality food at McDonald's, a place I don't eat as its garbage. The only good thing I have to say is that the gentleman who greeted us, poured my coffee, got our drinks and bussed our table was prompt and friendly. The waitress not so much. In my world, I would say it was a diner. Unfortunately,I came here post a visit to urgent care and needed food! Had Eggs, Pancake and Sausage--totally what I needed. Mom had "scones" term used lightly. Like no other scone I've had but if a Zeppoli and an Indian Fry bread had a baby this would be it. Served with honey which was need because it was a bit bland. The menu was expansive but I had one thing in mind eggs and pancakes. There's more to choose from on the menu. I'll be back to try something else on the menu. This is a review for Jack's Cafe and Jack's Cafe #2, since my partner and I ate at both locations on consecutive weekends and had pretty much the same experience -- a good hearty breakfast at reasonable prices. This is your typical all-American breakfast diner that does all the breakfast and lunch basics very well. The menu is pretty extensive with a bent toward some Mexican-style foods. Fajitas came super hot off the grill with a ton of grilled peppers, onions and spicy grilled chicken with delicious beans and rice. Huervos rancheros is excellent. Omelettes are big and hearty. Service is attentive. Coffee is nothing special, but what coffee shop java is? I will definitely eat here and again and it may be my new favorite breakfast spot. It's worth a short drive from a nearby downtown or Sparks hotel with expensive breakfasts or crappy continental breakfasts. read more

Husband and I were interested to try Jack's at this new location. Seems like the parking lot is always crowded so worth a try. We were there about 1:30pm and they close at 2pm. We were not rushed by the pleasant staff and I was pleased to see a lunch menu and not just breakfast. My husband ordered a huge 'man's breakfast' and I ordered a tuna on rye sandwich. The breafast was delivered hot and exactly to order as was my sandwich, I always ask for no extra mayo and seldom have this request remembered, guess it is pretty much automatic when making that sandwich. Very pleased to all the food come as ordered. Enjoyed the meal, not sure how often we will go back but only because we have places we enjoy more. The interior decor was freshened up with paint but still looked like the previous restaurant just cleaner and brighter. Regret not having their 'scones' which as I recall is fried bread.....why would I pass that up???? read more

Here from California, jacks looked like a good hole in the wall restaurant. We sat down had three different waitress than sat for 20 mins before the forth waitress took our order. Food came fast, however I specifically asked for toast instead of a "scone" (a scone...really) and I got a scone....instead of arguing I just simply said ok.....defiantly should have walk across the street to Denny's. Have to edit my review!!! As we where leaving we said something about how long we waited just to get our order taken...the fourth waitress walked up and literally started arguing with us in front of who assumed was the manager. Assumed manager said nothing and she continued to argue with us....wow!!! I have never experience such horrible customer service! The family was hungry for breakfast and we found this place while in Reno. The staff is very attentive and provide great service. We all ordered different foods. Big portions, prices are average with most other breakfast spots. I got the chilaquiles--eggs over easy, potatoes and baked chips with cheese and salsa. Very good l, the salsa is spicy but good...only way it could have been better would be to add some refried beans. My oldest got the ham and scrambled eggs with potatoes and biscuit--he liked everything. My little one got the French toast kids meal with bacon. He liked it.
