I stayed here for the night driving from Seattle to Santa Cruz. It is very reasonably priced. If it were fancier, the prices would go up. The camping is very basic, I camped in a well trodden field. I had some space around my tent, no one bothered me, and it was close to the hot springs pool which is really why anyone would stay here. Having a cheap place to camp plus a hot spring is ideal and I would do it again in a heartbeat.They also had a steam room. I went earlier before the clothing optional time and there were not many people in the pool. read more

4 stars for the price, friendly staff and the springs themselves. I came in for the clothing optional hours and was surprised at how loud and distracting it was to sit in the hot springs with 10 different conversations going and a few guys with an alcohol/drug vibe. It was 4/20 so whatever but was not mentally relaxing at all. The hot pool was too hot for me to soak for more than 15 minutes before I had to jump into the unheated pool. The dry sauna is huge and the wet steam room is strong. I would go back if I was in Ashland. Check it out of you like soaking. read more

Feels like something between a trailer park and a refugee camp. To top it off, staff (some, not all) kinda snobby. Had to beg the chiding janitor to let me use the main bathroom (the pool is closed Monday mornings - apparently this extends to the bathrooms for some reason) because the ones for the campground were disgusting. I get it, you're free spirits and you resent that I bought my clothes in a store. Guess all that hippie "free love" only applies if you don't want them to fulfill the services they offer and you paid for. Won't darken your already filthy doors again. read more

Driving into Jackson Wellsprings I was very sure that we were in the wrong place. From images and descriptions on the website I was picturing something more akin to a peaceful sanctuary; in reality, the grounds of the facility are more like a run-down trailer park. To be fair I must say that the staff was very kind, although they seemed to need a bit more help in the office. The water was also quite nice; the pool was clean and inviting, and the private two-person tub we paid $30 extra for (discounted from $40 since we were camping) was the highlight of the stay. If I were rating on the water alone, this review would be a 3-4. That being said, it was the grounds that made me very uncomfortable. When we arrived we were directed to RV site 53 which not only turned out to be sandwiched in between long-term residents, but also was filled with 3 cars. It took about 20 minutes for the staff to track down the owners of the vehicles to move them out of our reserved site. The site was also located righ behind a small shack which had several men hanging around the exterior for most of the night, playing drums and smoking weed. Nothing against either of those activities but we felt like we were in someone's backyard, and people walked through our site to get to the shack many times. What made me super nervous was that throughout the day we were blocked in by various vehicles, some belonging to staff members, others unknown. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to leave early in the morning. Luckily enough cars were gone for us to back our trailer out when it was time. We seriously high-tailed it out of there before we were trapped again. This place has potential to be really fantastic, but overall it gave me the creeps. Lots of people car camping, overgrown plants, run down residential trailers strewn about the grounds, it was not what I had hoped for. Our site should not be rented, but used for extra parking. Stop by to enjoy the water, but expect it to be crowded. read more

Showed up after a long drive before closing and was treated in a hostile manor by the onsite manger. I asked to use the bathroom and was told to figure it out. I explained I have never been here before and kindly asked to know the direction of the bathrooms and camping area but was then was scoffed at and rudely told I couldn't be in the area near the office. I was really looking forward my stay but am very disappointed by the way I was treated. I still give two stars for the potential of a wonderful experience, but suggest going elsewhere anytime remotely near closing. read more

This was hard to rate. As far as a campground - It was awful. Granted, it had rained a lot the week before (doesn't it always there?) so the grounds were muddy, but even without that, the "spaces" were small, hard to get into (we have a 35', type A motorhome) with very poor electrical set up. This was basically a hippie commune that allows some public to park there. As for the spa, that was a 3 star. It was "ladies night" when we arrived, so only I got to enjoy it, but the pool was a nice treat given the cold wet nights we had been experiencing. Dashing from the changing room to the pool, with no roof overhead, slippery floor, in December, was quite cold, I must add! The whole experience, from meeting "Wisdom" to the soaking pool to seeing all the old, converted buses, trailers, rvs, etc with tie dyed peace symbols, was a hoot! Not for the unadventurous. read more

Has anybody gotten skin rashes and hives from possibly unclean water? I was there last week twice and returned home with moderate skin hives in multiple areas. I was skeptical about the cleanliness but the website indicated the water circulates (?) ....not sure where the problem was -in warm or cool pool, possibly more so in swimming pool -no signs reminding patrons to thoroughly clean and see poor etiquette in many patrons who don't even rinse to get into the pools. read more

This place is nothing like what the website leads you to believe. Beware!! I had reservations to camp here but the camping area was full of broken down school busses, shacks covered with tarps, and beat up old trailers. I would never have parked my RV there or stayed in a tent. Clientele seemed to be of all ages -- sort of a burned out old hippy enclave. I've got nothing against hippies or herbs but this place was not as described. I'm quite sure the desk clerk was stoned out of her mind. We left. Went back a few days later to look around more, but the second visit just confirmed our impression. Run down, sketchy, dirty. Not a spa or convention center by any standard. Not a pleasant experience. Check in lady was grumpy and made us uncomfortable. Do not tent camp here, the only available locations are in the front or side yard where you wake up to the sound of the highway, and you fall asleep to the sound of neighboring campers snoring. While I have no idea what camping there is like - nor the curiosity to find out - I love coming to the place from Mt. Shasta for its laid-back, friendly atmosphere and together spa facilities. Jackson is a treasure for anyone seeking an inexpensive relaxing sauna and mineral soak and needs no frills or being waited on. The place is grounded in the best of countercultural ways - i.e. positive vibes and green lifestyle. Yes, a little spacy around the edges - but this is maybe a sign of staff being in the healing, non-materialistic zone of the place rather than just doing a threadbare song and dance about healing and can actually be conducive to relaxing and letting go. Why are people in such a hurry to relax, I wonder? "Serenity NOW!" (Seinfeld) Being right off the state highway and Interstate maybe doesn't allow the gradual shifting down that more rural mineral resorts allow. (Being so close to constant traffic is one of the few turn-offs for me, used to the deeper nature of Stewart Springs an hour south). The mineral water is great. I embrace the sulfur in it, relishing smelling it and drinking it. The ambient temp swimming pool is awesome. Likewise the small warm pool in the corner and the fairly new, tiled steam room. While the gas-fired dry sauna perhaps doesn't lend itself to a spellbinding atmosphere of Stewart's wood-fired, fire-view one, the obvious love and attention given to the place and usually congenial and positive conversations budding in it make the sauna - and all else - gently inviting. Often a regular will ask if it's okay to spray a eucalyptus oil solution on the stove. Being a long tradition in saunas, it's almost always appreciated. The obvious lack of desire to soak the people wanting to soak is one of the most endearing things about the place. It's so much easier relaxing, letting go and healing when sense the place's focus on healing over making money. Jackson's a treasure for any spa lover valuing a healing atmosphere. read more

I went here looking to unwind and left angry and feeling like I had been "had". I scheduled for a massage and received what was unequivocally the worst "massage" I have ever received. It was a series of disjointed prodding. The gal was nice, and not wanting to hurt her feelings, I thought I'd take it up with the manager instead. There was no manager on site so I paid and left. Four attempts to reach them have gone unanswered. As a massage therapist myself, I doubt the woman who worked on me actually ever attended massage school. I give them zero stars for the massage and zero for their customer service. Never going back. read more

The place does not open until 10 am. Apparently they clean out the spring water pool that morning so the water was VERY cold. It is actually spring water that is heated, not a hot springs. There were NO RV sites available, but I was told I could park on the road way. I did use the pool again later that day and it was warmer. There were many locals using the pool and all were naked! I stayed over and a nasty fellow banged on my RV and told me I owed for staying overnight. I refused to pay as I was told there were no sites and I could just park along the roadway. He threatened me, took photos of me and was generally nasty. I drove out and parked on the highway, he drove his golf cart there and again banged on my RV. I will NEVER go there again. read more

On a pleasant early July day,I visited this spa again,I was there eight years ago.It is currently in a very rundown trailer and campground area.It currently is under the auspices of a group that emphasizes Hindu religious philosophy and quiet meditation.Albeit,I enjoyed the healing soothing mineral waters,both hot and warm.This spa was very clean.I liked the tranquility of this place that has a very nature-oriented charm free from our very complicated computerized American Society.For people who wish to bathe nude,it is clothes optional after 8 PM or when darkness sets in.However,most people after 8 PM wear swimsuits,even though it is clothes optional.It is open from 8 AM to Midnight. read more

This place is a dump! Not only is it quite the opposite of what it advertises on its webpage - it's filled with homeless people living in tents on the lawn. We reserved our space after viewing the website. We were told we had space 54. When we drove in, we stated, "This can't be the place. . . we must be in the wrong park. . . " Then we asked a passerby who confirmed this was Jackson Wellsprings. Ugh. We then located space 54 - a cement pad where once stood a single-wide with a lean-to next to it filled with rotting furniture and broken beer bottles. Glass was everywhere. It was completely depressing... It felt and looked unsafe. OH! and not to forget, as we drove into the trailer park, a young man quickly jumped up to pull on his pants while his lady friend was pulling her top over her head . . . right out in the open. This place doesn't even deserve one star. read more

Humble, hippie vibe spa. Great steam and dry saunas. There's a large swimming pool, and a hot soaking tub. Very grateful for all of it. It's not a fancy place, and I'm grateful for that, too. Down to earth, super mellow spot. If you can get over your ego and enjoy a great facility with friendly, easygoing people, this is the spot for you. If you need everything to be prim, proper, squeaky clean, and no dirt or bugs anywhere, this is not your spot. read more

This place is really weird... There are shady people creeping around at all hours....the American general public would probably not like it here, it's really for hippies. Some of the office staff are nice and some are mean, and all but the simplest transactions cause a lot of confusion. Camping is spotty because there may be a lot of drug/dog/alcohol people around and there is generally no one to enforce the rules. read more

We have gone to the Wellsprings 5 or so times now and camped each time. The camping is pathetic to say the least, road noise, swearing and partying from young men volunteering so they can stay there, and rude staff when you register. They treat you like an idiot and are generally unfriendly. Their quiet hours are unenforced and they allow excessive smoking in the camping area. There are no where near enough picnic tables. We cooked on the ground because said young men sat smoking pot and cigarettes ALL DAY at the only table. They asked us for food and money. The reason I am camping and not staying at the hotel is because this is all I can afford. Why do we keep going there. You may ask? The pool and soaking tub are sublime. They have fun music, good food, and yoga. Think I might save up for the hotel next time though. read more

Funky, cool, easy going. My boyfriend and I spent 2 days here in our campervision and the Lithia waters soothed traveling aches and pains and gave me a great happy felling that lasted for several days afterwards. I took long, slow swims in the cool pool. I made reservations ahead of time and that worked great! read more

As a hot springs connoisseur I have pretty high standards but compared to the break-burning, hairpin roads where some of my favorite hot springs resides, there is something to be appreciated about easy and convenient. Just a short jaunt off the highway this little place has it all. Spring fed water for drinking and purchase, sauna, steam pools and all at an affordable price. A must stop if your doing the California Oregon haul. read more

I lived in Ashland Oregon (grew up in Medford) for many years back in 1972 forward. (and very familiar with communal life styles - the good, bad and the ugly, lol. Later lived in Boston and NYC for 33 years. After a building fire left me almost dead, I visited this place looking for another place to live and stopped by to talk to staff and have some food from a little cafe. "Health food". Then the staff went out and had their cigarette break (I had worked in Skyscrapers exposed up to 2k cigarettes in a 20 minute period - and knew full well the harm even side stream smoke can have on the physiology (Masters in health field). I by then could not tolerate it in any amount and asked if this was the norm at their "health spa". What has always disturbed me about aspects of Ashland is the hypocrisy of some of the residents - and it was in evident when I visited. Touted as healthy, it was filthy, staff rude or indifferent (but that can be said of many from Ashland) (and I worked in the Hospitality business while in Boston) and so like many of the business my friends' ran when I was there in the 70's - in disarray. Ashland is a wonderful place, has a rich history even before "we" arrived especially, (Sacred areas along with Grant's Pass) but having been around the world, I know that wonderful and inexpensive set ups can be done... Italy for one! (all were superbly clean, well appointed and food great - all on a dime). Maybe not when smoking pot all day! MHO children who have not grown up in such an atmosphere (the old Applegate - beautiful turquoise river now dammed up and gone forever - had two forks - one for nude swimming the other for family's) and adults naked doesn't work for me unless the lines are strictly adhered to. It may be natural but I recall some not pleasant incidents when those in communal settings used that as an excuse to be creeps. read more

Cool old-school hippie vibes, nice staff, warm pool plus old and large swimming pool with surrounding relaxation area, lounge chairs. Not meant as a luxury spa. Water is volcanic origin with nice strong sulfury scent. The large cold swimming pool is acceptably clean. I like that it uses no chlorine at all. Warm pool is warm (not hot), and very relaxing especially on cold winter days--but ONLY if you manage to get there just after the water has been drained and replaced. Which is currently once, maybe twice a week. Changing the water in the warm pool more often would earn the full 5 stars. Call and find out when the pool will be cleaned and show up immediately after, when the warm pool is crystal clear. Otherwise expect an occasional floating hair and grease scum. Small kids are welcome, another good point, but their bodily contributions definitely means the water needs to be changed (more) often. Still, I do go there every few months and find it relaxing. In winter, the sauna and steam room are great in combo with a cold pool plunge. Easy to make massage etc. appointment. Some clothing optional times at night. Women only one evening a week. Lockers in shower room, bring your own lock and towels. Street shoes must be left outside pool area, so you may want to bring flip flops. There are some snacks for sale or you can bring your own food. Admission price is reasonable and you can return all day. read more

From Orange County visiting my sister's awesome farm in Ashland... This place is awesome! Super different from where I am used to which makes it more appealing to me. Sure, there are many kinds of people here and that makes the flavor more interesting. I've met hippies, biologists, growers, attorneys, hitchhikers, business owners....it's a mix of everything Oregon. If you are looking for spa amenities, perfect cleanliness, and a homogenous group of people, perhaps stay away... If you want to keep it real and fun, try this place out! Most people take advantage of the clothing optional which happens after 8pm or when the sun goes down; however some people keep their suits on, etc... It's all good either way you choose. We stayed in a teepee for two nights. The teepees are interesting, but be aware that there is a hole in the roof that you cannot close, so if it rains outside, it rains some inside. Luckily it did not rain the two days we were there, but we definitely worried about it. The teepees are in a field off by themselves well away from the normal camping and the permanent residents. Nice for seclusion. Bad if nature calls in the middle of the night. The bathrooms for the campground were very dirty but the ones in the spa were quite clean. Unfortunately the spa does not open until 9am, so you don't have much choice early in the morning. We only used the spa after 8pm as it is very crowded with kids before then. We really liked the pool (even if it was a little cold) and the hot tub was very relaxing. They have both a wet and dry sauna. Neither had any lighting other than a translucent window in the case of the dry sauna and a frosted glass door in the case of the steam room, so combined with the steam and my glasses fogging over I was sort of fumbling around in the dark when I first went in. The office staff was very helpful when we checked in, but I had tried contacting them via email in advance and it took about three weeks to get a reply. I had given up and called instead. read more

Interesting place. I wish men could use the place monday nights when the water is fresh, but that luxury is apparently reserved for women and "Ladies Night". (men don't like fresh water?) And I wish they had some kind of "decorum" policy that would allow them to refuse service to anyone that did not look or smell clean. Driving back to Seattle from San Francisco, my family and I decided to give this place a try while staying one night in Ashland. People working there were very friendly and provided me great instructions since it was our first visit. The pool is huge but pretty dirty. The hot spring was warm but not hot enough to our taste since we lived in Japan for couple years and we visited hot springs every weekend. Overall interesting experience but we will not go back there again for hot spring. read more

Most people that write reviews love to complain. This place is special. There's an energy here unlike any other. It's been a hub for world travelers and local healers for decades. Sure, it could use some improvements. So could every community center. Society isn't pretty. The beauty of this building doesn't live in the walls or the pavement. Another overnight tent stay and another pleasant experience. I looked around with a critical eye and indeed the grounds aren't perfect. But I don't care. My tent site was just fine. The porta potties were clean and as close as the office restroom would have been if it wasn't locked after 1130. Everyone I chatted with was cool and I felt totally relaxed. I think this place is magical! Do not expect the Ritz, it is very comfortable, but not fancy by any means. This place is perfect for us earthly-hippies types who prefer a chill environment...to me it had a burner festival vibe. Not my kind of place. Very inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. My wife and I were brought there by a tour guide for a spa and were very displeased. The hot tub was more of a lukewarm tub, however the sauna room was nice and got extremely steamed (couldn't see my hand on my outstretched arm). It seemed like a great place for hippies (many were present) the day we visited, or the indigent (because of its affordability.) read more

Here is the deal. Good intentions. Aging facilities. Other than Mondays(ladies only night which packed for a reason) there are WAY more men then women. Probabably 20:1 ratio at least. Some these men are homeless/transients staying under the nearby bridge or in parking lot camping area. Don't be naive, yes, there are creeps, i have seen them and heard plenty of stories from local woman who will only go on mondays if at all. Might help if men had to bring a woman to create a more comfortable atmosphere. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I was raised by hippies so commune life and its lack of boundaries are not foreign to me. That said, this was one of the saddest and most depressing places I have camped - ever. Billed as a medicinal hot springs campground, it is a rundown, filthy, pathetic little pachoulli infused dust bowl with garbage everywhere and homeless sleeping in cars and tents. While the pool is listed as "clothing optional" after 8, one particular staff woman clearly liked walking around topless at all times which is not what everyone's 8 year-old nephew needs to see. Not my kid, not allowed to watch PG13 movies, just taking the kids camping. The pool and tap water were likely hot springs water but it just smelled like sweaty feet and tasted sulphuric- not in a good way. The staff seem to have a loose relationship with service industry protocol such as a) how to take money accurately b) how to provide the paying public with any sort of assistance other than "pick some grass to put your tents" and c) cleaning some part of the facilities. Retract that - there was a woman in the men's room who didn't allow one of our party in because she said she was picking up "somebody's broken glass pipe" but I have no way of knowing if she worked there. Additionally we needed to avoid explaining a "glass pipe" to the 8 year-old boy... Maybe when he's nine. Finally, if you're billing yourself as a campground, perhaps it would be better to not set up the running sprinklers (that cover most of the grass) to run all night so that 90 percent of the people are left to pitch tents on 5 percent of the grass. read more
