So I've only been to this place one time so far (** update: 3 times), but the amount of different home cooked dishes that they had was amazing. It looked totally different than the pictures, so I am not sure if it's a dinner time thing or not, but they had about 10 different dishes on the counter and kept bringing out new ones. They were all in take-out styrofoam containers, not in big metal dishes that the pictures had. You just chose the ones you wanted and they closed the lid and gave it to you. The variety was really great. I could see about 6 or 7 different dishes that I would have wanted to try, on top of the tons of "dough" based items. The place had people coming in and out just in the 10 minutes I was there. They are clearly not there for cheap food as each dish was about 8 or 9 dollars (I forget exactly). The parking lot has limited space but it wasn't hard to park or navigate (and I drive a 2014 Honda Odyssey Elite Van which is around 202.9 inches long). It's located in an older building but inside everything is sparkling new and clean. They have a frozen food section, a refrigerator section, a rack with moon bean cakes and a hot foods area. We were greeted warmly by the owner James. He was kind enough to explain the different dishes and such. Items I had today: noodles with egg and chicken- so tasty, so flavorful for a dish so simply made. red bean sesame ball- perfectly fried with a delicate and sweet red bean flavor inside. green onion pancake- not greasy, and the most delicious green onion pancake I've ever had. wife cake- delicate pastry and inside delicious winter melon and mochiko filling. On another note, I found some of the other Yelp reviews misleading- the owners speak English clearly and there are signs in English inside the shop. I'm definitely coming back. The delicious food, the friendly owners (James and Jenny)- make for a wonderful combination. With the holidays coming up I'm going to order party trays. When you type in "No MSG Chinese food" on the Yelp app, Jenny's Kitchen is one of the first that pops up in the South Bay area. I saw the 5 stars, I read over some of the reviews, I was convinced that this would be a life changing experience, so one day I decided to curb my Chinese food craving and stop in. I decided to come in on a Saturday around 3pm which is an odd time as it's not lunch and also not dinner yet. I walked in and was greeted by this friendly Asian man who spoke pretty decent English. He described everything that I pointed at and I also noticed that they DO have English names for the items they offer here. Unfortunately, I couldn't get myself a single order of their noodles or one of their entrees as he was already serving dinner and usually you're buying dinner there for a party of 4 or more. So he suggested some of their most popular items for me to just try and I totally took his suggestions. I got myself the popular Pork and Chive pancake, Curry Chicken bun AND Purple Yam Custard Bun. The guy told me I will probably be very full after eating these 3 tiny snacks and I told him, "Trust me, I'll be far from full. This b*tch can EAT." ;) And that's exactly what happened. I came home. Opened up everything. Devoured it and ended up heating up one of my prepped meals (Chicken, yams and broccoli) in the fridge and eating that too. I think all 3 items I got here were WINNERS. You should definitely try the green onion pancake and/or the beef roll if you stop by Jenny's! The green onion pancake is the best we've had, and when it's stuffed with thin slices of beef, hoison sauce, and cucumbers, it's even better! It's a little pricey at ~$8 for a beef roll, but it is a large portion and perfect for sharing between 2 people. Jenny, the owner, is very sweet and helpful. She explains that everything they serve is prepared and cooked there, so the food tastes homemade. I found the items to be more on the plain side and not too salty or greasy, which I appreciate. Daikon sesame pastry- Generous amount of radish with a buttery flaky outside layer. Not super flavorful but very fresh and filling. Lotus seed mooncake- I'm impressed that Jenny makes these herself! Beautifully prepared and very good, my Mom liked how it tasted so fresh compared to the mooncakes you typically buy in the store. Lunch/dinner box- Basically the earlier you come, the more variety of dishes you get to try (but the price is the same). They put some of each dish and pack it into the styrofoam container until it barely closes. For example, if they make 8 dishes in the morning, you can get all 8 dishes if you arrive early. If you come later in the day and there are only 5 left, you get those 5 dishes for your to-go box. Small, family-owned business and food is only for take-out (unless you want to sit at the one table outside). Friendly service and they speak English! In all my years of Asian upbringing, I've somehow never actually tasted or heard of one of Jenny's Kitchen's specialty rolls, a delightful concoction of meat and green onions enclosed in a green onion pancake (cong you bing). I liked what I saw on the Yelps and headed downways to Jenny's to give them a shot. Tell you what, I liked them suckers. I've tried two different ones from here, the pork and the beef. One of my favorite Taiwanese dishes is the breakfast specialty, niu rou shao bing, and so I figured I'd take to the beef. Instead, I daresay I like the pork better. It's more flavorful and oozes natural sauce, making the roll less dry than the beef. The bing is also really good at Jenny's. It's a little starchy and dense, not optimally flaky as I'd like, but very tasty and perfect for this Asian tortilla. Jenny's also has a bunch of other Asian goodies stocked up here. I have also tried the tea eggs (cha ye dan) and the sticky rice (ba zang or zong zi). I've had better elsewhere, but that's not a ding on Jenny's quality by any means. read more

So glad I found this hidden treasure! This place is really popular with the locals and older Asian customers so you know it's gotta be good. It's take out only but they are extremely busy so get there early or their most popular items will sell out (green onion pancake and chive pancake). The green onion pancake is the size of your face! Truly a neighborhood gem. The concept of Jenny's Kitchen is very unique. You essentially go up to the counter, see what dishes they have prepared for the day, and choose from those. They also have a huge variety of dumplings, cold appetizers, pastries, and buns (plain/vegetarian/meat). My recommendations are the following: 1) Pig ears - My favorite item here! These are the best pig ears in the bay. They come with sliced carrots, cilantro and scallions which add a great crunch and garnish. I can eat an entire box in one sitting... 2) Pork roll - Tender and flavorful pork, sliced cucumbers and green bell peppers wrapped in the infamous green onion pancake. So good! 3) Fresh tofu - Some of the best tofu I've had. It has a faint Chinese medicinal taste to it, but is incredibly fresh and delicious. 4) Lunch box - This is their most affordable option in my opinion. You get a choice of either noodles or white rice with 4-5 freshly prepared dishes. Unlike most Chinese restaurant, this place doesn't serve fried and greasy food; instead, you'll find fresh, home-cooked, and light Chinese dishes. They seem to be on rotation and they would rather give you extra serving to overfill the box Than anything else. If you come there during dinner. It's $10 for three entree plus rice/noodle. Not bad at all The green onion pancake is relatively decent. I wish it had more onion taste instead of being starchy . But for $2 it is def better than what you get at restaurants near by Their pork Jong taste authentic. Perfect amount of peanuts, pork, and egg and the sticky rice texture just have the right firmness you would expect. Also big fan of their steamed bun. Lots of filling and the bread itself isn't dry like eating chalk. Their lo Mai gai is like twice the size as dynasty dim sum lol. Def would recommend if you got people to feed. Even though the food wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I am happy a place like this exists - so I'm giving it an extra star. The man behind the counter is super attentive and explains everything. You get a big box of authentic asian food for about $8. The scallion pancakes are huge, I would have liked them a bit crispier - but I ate every single bite. A fun little place to have tried. I'm going to start off with, HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you're looking to get a Taiwanese breakfast fix. Found this restaurant via Yelp and read the reviews and decided to give it a try because I was famished. There's a small line outside because they're still enacting social distancing protocols. Inside, there are fridges for cold dishes, tofu and soy milk, freezers for frozen dumplings and lines of ready-made buns. On the other side by the cashier, you'll see a selection of hot food. Now, it was my first time visiting so I didn't really know what to expect. The staff/owners were super nice. I spoke in broken Mandarin but heard one of the speak in English to another customer. They're selections are all labelled in English and Chinese so didn't have any issues stocking up food (bought so much I have enough for the week!). The quality and the quantity have gone down from good to bad to terrible. The dumpling's size has gotten smaller and smaller despite the price continues to increase. The latest dumplings I bought last Friday had crack in majority of them. As a result, they cracked open when boiling them. The dumplings look like they were made by rookies, not professional but we are paying for professional price. Take a closer look on the frozen dumplings, one will see the crack line in the dumplings. I've been eating green onion pancakes for years, but it was not until I had one here, that I was blown away. It's $3.50ish for one, and I thought it was kind of pricey at first, but it's huge. I definitely get full off of one. You can tell that they're freshly made by temperature and texture. They're nice enough to give you a hot one if you tell them you'll be eating it shortly after.
