Visited a location in San Mateo, I am a regular here and I have mostly had a positive experience except this time. The wait time is almost longer than stated on the app.i asked the staff if there is a reason the orders take longer and another employee named Ashley from behind the counter in a loud voice said we have ordered don't you see? She is very unprofessional and rude. If she is not happy about people placing orders then she should find another job. I had to ask her name three-time and she looked into my eyes and did not answer. I will not visit this location while there are rude employees like Ashly. There are other sandwich places whitin 10 min from here that have friendly staff. read more

I am breaking my Yelp hiatus for a surprisingly great sandwich shop. Jersey Mike's have been popping up all over the Bay Area it seems like... people raving left to right, but I had yet to experience it until tonight, and I have to say... the hype is real! #17 Philly Cheese Steak - how is this so good?? Puts every cheese steak I've had to shame annnnnd further corroborates that there are way better ingredients than cheese whiz. #18 Chicken Parm - I had this VIA their clever and low-carb friendly dining option "Sub in a Tub" LOL and I would order it the same exact way again, so great on its own it doesn't need the bread! #9 Club Supreme - has roast beef, turkey AND bacon. With no shame it comes with mayo and is GOOD. I don't know what it is, but it's on point! On top of the well prepared subs, their vegetables are fresh and the meats are great and not scary or slimy (sorry Subway, but that's a real situation) and the bread seems SUPER fresh. Hands down the best customer service at any sandwich shop in the San Mateo area. Victor and Phillip understand what it means to service there customers! Today myself and my daughter went into the store for lunch. We ordered our sandwiches which were absolutely amazing tasting I mean you really can't go wrong with Jersey Mike's. When we went to pay for the food my bank card wasn't working due to some transactions not posting. The team of Victor and Phillip could have told us sorry but no money no food! They did the exact opposite! They assured us it was not a problem and that we could pay the next time we came in, which we do frequent this store often! I was blown away at the level of professionalism they showed and also telling us thAt these things happen and not to worry about it! I was a bit embarrassed by what had happed and I felt bad but they assured me that these things happened. Went into Jersey Mike's yesterday. I have 108 shore points and I was going to use 72 of them. 72 points gets you a free regular sub with a value of 9.25. So I purchased a giant that has a value of 15.25, so I figured they would apply my 72 points and subtract that value of 9.25, the girl told me no, you can't do that, I said serious, she said yes. I said ok, how about if I order a regular sub also, she said no you can't that either because you need to wait until tomorrow, I said what if I walk out and come back in and place another order, she said yes you can do that, I said forget it, I'll use my points another time. Also, their mobile website won't let you apply your points, you can apply promo or gift but not points. That forces you to order in store if you use your points. New sandwich chain that seems to be springing up in every city on the peninsula. It is very good. It's still a chain, but its good. I'd place it just below Ike's but above The Sandwich Spot. Quality is vastly superior to Subway, but the Jeresey Mike's menu lacks Subway's diverse options. Ordering advice: All cheeses and meats are sliced to order and bread is baked daily. Veggies are fresh and sliced and prepared every couple of hours. Nice attention to detail across the board. Unless you hate vinegar, go mikes way. The spices, oil, and red wine vinegar seem to be perfectly calibrated to add richness, depth, and tang to your sandwich. Don't get the giant size unless you plan on eating the sandwich for lunch and dinner. Its HUGE. It is NOT a typical 12 inch foot long, its about 16-18 inches long and is packed with 3x more meat and veggies than subway. Regular size is well suited for a moderate appetite, mini will fill you up the same as a 6-inch sub from Subway. Hot sandwiches can take forever. Easily 15 minutes if there are a couple people ahead of you. Cold sandwich orders take less than 5 minutes. read more

Service is horrible. Ordered the food online was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Cool . Drive there and it wasn't ready. Was rudely told they would let me know when it was ready. After waiting for 10 mins. Noticed. They were working on the orders of people who came into order while pretty much ignoring the orders that came in online. They would put the orders into a paper bag and then move on. There was at least 30 paper bags. That were just sitting there. It wasn't until I talked to someone and asked them about my order that they decided to make the sandwich. I've ordered from them before with no problems. Not sure what's happened. Why they decided to ignore online ordering. If I hadn't paid in advanced I would have walked away. Food was fine but a little under seasoned. Needed a little more vinegar. I sent a complaint on the corporate website about this place a while back. It's been 6 months, I don't think they're going to get back to me. So I'll just re-up the story here. I used to go to this location every week or two, sometimes eating in (when that was something they still allowed), other times getting it to go--taking back to my office when I was in a hurry. I usually placed to-go orders on the app so I could get in and out quickly. I went in to pick up my order (hot sub/chips/soda combo) as usual. Got the sandwich, grabbed jalapeno chips and was going to fill the fountain soda when the guy behind the counter started yelling at me. He said that I'd ordered Lay's and that's what I had to take. This didn't make any sense on a couple of levels: I didn't realize you could even choose the type of chip on the app, and can't even imagine why it mattered. They don't bag your order, you just pick any bag of chips off the rack. The price on the menu is the same for any kind of chips, which I pointed out. He said no, other chips cost more online so you can't take anything but what you ordered. That sounded like pure BS to me, and if you look at the pic I attached showing pricing, it is. He totally made it up. Any chips, same price. He got me so pissed off I threw him the bag of chips, left the soda cup and haven't been back since. Youre speeding down El Camino and you think you've arrived, and nope ---you passed it! The Waze app is never wrong! Well, where is it then? I can't make a u turn on El Camino! Ugh. This happened the other evening as I used the mobile app to place and pick up my sandwich order. First, this place needs a lighted sign PRONTO. Emphasis on lighted. You just can't see it. No wonder there was no one there! Second, Jersey Mike's needs to never remove the Italian from its sandwich menu. That is one fine sandwich! Spicy, well, yes with the addition of the jalapenos and the wonderful bread it's on. Really terrific, I have had the roast beef too, also great, and the turkey/provolone and I still have to say the Italian is the way to go. Save time too --use the app and pick up. Different sizes for varying appetites are available- 5" being the smallest. There's the Grilled Veggie for you vegetarians too. I relished my roast beef sandwich between a wheat roll Mike's Way- which is the basic ingredients of lettuce, tomato, oil, onion, vinegar, salt and pepper. Wraps and even a sandwich salad minus the carbs are also options. If you have to know the extensive nutrition details of ingredients, Jersey Mike's has done their due diligence and provided the low down on all that: soy, wheat, sulfites etc. It's conveniently found in the "Nutrition" section of their website. It can get crowded at lunch time. Call in your order. It's a quick in and out process. They are fast friendly, reasonably priced and make some yummy subs- cold or hot. Pretty tasty cheesesteak for the west coast. Not quite as greasy as it should be. I get it Maryland style with grilled onion, provolone, lettuce, tomato, mayo and crushed hot cherry peppers. This place is trash. Been to this place three times now and each time receiving low quality meats and low quality soggy bread. Portions are on the generous side which is the only plus. Today was the final straw. Against my advice, my co-workers desperately wanted to try this place, so we placed a doordash group order. Order was placed around 930am for a lunch time delivery. Around 11:45am our order was cancelled without any notifications or reasoning. So now it's up to me to scramble and find food for the office. What drew me into this place was the coupon for $2 off a regular size sandwich. I ordered the Big Kahuna Jalapeño sandwich. I handed the cashier my coupon and he charged me a total of $11.72. Lo and behold I checked the receipt and he neglected to apply the $2 off. I thought "what's $2?" I've been coming here during the coronavirus/covid-19 lockdown and I'm so glad they've stayed open. I drive farther than I should admit just to get my JM fix. They run a tight & clean ship here and I've seen them cleaning the counters during my brief stops there. My order is always ready when I arrive sitting in a bag on a table right by the front door. Everything feels very safe and the employees are always friendly and my custom order is always prepared perfectly, thanks guys!! Note, ordering through the app is pretty easy, and here's a little tip, you can specify which chips/drink you want. I think the default is pepsi/lays, but again, you can pick exactly what you want. The app failed on me once but that was because my internet/cell signal was too weak. When your signal is strong, the app works great. (Note, this is my second review for this great location. I came here on the recommendation of my good friend Dr. Mantis Taboggan. He was raving about how they chop and cook the steak right in front of you. I came here on my lunch hour, in pursuit of a good cheese steak. I ordered a chipotle cheese steak with extra steak. I left my work at 1230 and was back to my desk at exactly 1pm. They cooked it really quickly and it tasted great. The chipotle wasn't too spicy and thats good because it let the steak take the center stage. Nice grilled peppers and onions to complement the taste and some cheese to balance it out. It's pretty good, better than some cut rate subway or supermarket offerings when it comes to a nice hot steak sandwich on your lunch break. Giving 4/5 because the location/parking situation is a little odd. It's only accessible on El Camino north, right across the street from Hillsdale in a Michaels crafts parking lot. I'd like to try a cold sandwich next time because then I'll have a full picture of the menu and offerings, but I'll definitely return. read more

These guys are so awesome and the food is really tasty! I absolutely adore is how they keep customers loyal. I received my birthday gift this year again - thank you so much! This means a lot and I will definitely be recommending them. In fact my husband and I buy Jersey Mike gift cards and give them to all of the staff in our building for all of their hard work. Who doesn't want a gift card for awesome food at a great place? Once a year they send you the awesome birthday gift that is good for a full meal with drink. Pulled in w/kidz looking for something different. Let me say it turns out Jersey Mike's isn't for me; but I can see the appeal for other people. If you like white bread, yellow mustard, meat and cheese, other toppings - you'll be happy. If you desire a variety of breads to choose from, like dutch crunch or sourdough, don't park your Clydesdale here. The team behind the wheel is very responsive and interested to serve, that's a plus. The fare is pedestrian I thought. LOCATION: No-man's Land - Bay side of El Camino, opposite the rock pit formerly known as Sears. SUMMARY: Sandwiches were good from an ingredients perspective (fresh sliced) but bread is an issue. But overall I guess the bar isn't very high - it's just simple subs. I like other places much more, and while Subway isn't a fave of mine I'd go there instead of JM. Lack of healthy drinks is a reason I'm marking it "not sure" it's good for kids. She made the ordering process easy - I placed the order at 1:25pm and picked it up at 2:00pm. We got 30 Giant Sandwiches + 25 bags of chips. Terrible.... Don't waste your time or money. I really love jersey mike's. Been to a few across the county and I must say.... THIS ONE SUCKS!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE FOOD!!! THIS IS BY FAR THE WORSE ONE!!! Got pinged by yelp on this review not becuase it's not true, but because I didn't offer suggestions. Well here's my suggestion. 1. During lunch rush hours don't be under staffed 2. When the cooks are on the grill make sure he doesn't touch the beef/chicken and then the veggies with his hands... 3. When the grill cook sees that he's made the wrong order (wheat, not white bread). Make sure he doesn't touch with his contaminated gloved hands and dump the content of the #42 onto the wheat bread from the white bread and add more sauce and cheese and not cook it... Everywhere on the packaging it states something like "Real ingredients, for real people, paying real wages." All I can say is that it's REALLY bad. You know you're at the wrong spot when you'd rather have Subway or Quizno's. The interior is pretty nice. Everything is branded and designed will a nice sheen on it. The side room isn't fully enclosed. So if it's a hot day you're screwed. They do have wall heaters if it gets cold. The menu is half cold and hot sandwiches. They do have sandwich wraps but it's neglected to the side. I ordered the chicken parm hot sandwich. The hot sandwich comes in a sheet of standard wax paper, then wrapped in aluminum foil, then packaged in a brown paper bag. I really don't understand why I have to unwrap this cumbersome Christmas present even though I said I was eating in. This sandwich is horrible. The chicken is entirely bland. I thought I was tasting the breading of the chicken parm, but it was the chicken. The breading is limp and flavorless. The only thing you can taste is the artificial tasting cheese, bread, and tomato sauce. The bread is really odd. It's soft yet flat and tasteless like you're biting into a futon. I always finish my plate even if the food isn't that great. Waste not, want not. In this case I threw away the last third of the sandwich. All I wanted was to stop eating the disgusting sandwich. ____ You're better off going to Subway or Quizno's because you'll be getting the same thing. read more

I find it quite OK but nothing more. I always go for the Italian sub but have to ask them to hold the liquids (otherwise it gets too wet and soggy). I prefer Jersey Joe's down the road in San Carlos (Jersey Joe has been around for about 20 years). Bigger sandwich and more value. read more

Sandwiches here are awesome, I had the cheese steak. It was awesome, had a bit of the mikes way turkey sandwich, i think they do a little oregano, celery salt, oil and vinegar. I would definitely say the service here is prompt, but friendly wouldn't be the correct word. Just get the sandwich and leave lol, thy do have a little enclosed patio with heaters, it was all around a good experience. The service here dropped that 4th star for sure tho. read more
