I haven't given a Yelp review in years but my experience at this location is such a consistent dumpster fire that I felt the need to share with this now being the third and final straw for me. Big Jersey Mike's fan here. The location near my former home in Westwood was clean, fast, friendly, and consistently good. I moved to the area recently, have given them multiple chances, and let's just say I'm shocked by comparison that Jersey Mike's corporate hasn't stepped in to hold the Van Nuys location franchise owner to accountable. Every time I come here the place is filthy, most of the staff is congregating in the back, and when they begrudgingly saunter back up to the front to provide service the entire operation is a disaster. No one knows their role, follows any semblance of a proper procedure, or exhibits any sort of proactive thinking. I don't if they're just bad at hiring, but these people either have zero self awareness or plainly don't care. I think it's both. Today alone i watched multiple people leave the line and exit the store because of how long they were taking to make sandwiches. One of the people on staff thinks it's funny to yell "Welcome" and "Have a nice day!" loudly whenever the door opens, and doesn't even pause it when it's angry lost customers existing who are dumb founded they would do this even when losing business. The girl making my sandwich got into a dispute with the register girl about how much meat goes on the sandwich with register girl saying management told her how much to put on and sandwich girl arguing with her based off stuff the other bozo's in the back ruining the place told her. They get to the final part of the sandwich and realize theres no bacon, so they say they need to make it AND THEN DON'T EVEN LIFT A FINGER TO MAKE THE BACon FOR ANOTHER 3 MINUTES AS I WATCHED IN DISBELIEF. Mind you, I asked for the bread to be toasted on my #8 at the start of this entire thing so any forward thinking employee would register "he's gonna need bacon, lets get these going too" from the start. After waiting enough time that the entire line behind me was now out of the store, my sandwich sat there while no one bothered to even wrap it up, and the last guy who was making the sandwich and knew the only thing I needed left was bacon just stared at it wondering whether it was done, I reminded him it was. Then they proceeded to play hot potato and hand it around to 3 different people confused wondering if it was for the guy who just came in for his mobile order before I said "Yes. Thats mine. The one I've been standing here waiting for since we spoke moments ago." Im actually shocked I took the time to type this up. This place is a complete mess. The employee's are inept. And whoever owns it should fire everyone and start over... or maybe care enough to even recognize how bad it is compared to literally every other location. A friend actually joked with me recently about how this location was so bad he told the employees to do better before he left the last time he was there. I kind of agreed but figured I'd give it one last shot. Lesson learned. read more

I love this location. I've ate subs from here several times throughout 2021 because I moved to the area last December. Every time I walk in, even though there aren't any people, the staff of 4-5 are always working hard! I assume from online orders. It's not a complaint, just a statement that I always see them working. No one is ever just chilling. They always help me out very quickly and get my order correct. The staff is BEYOND friendly. There's always a conversation between staff and customers while they work. I laugh here all the time. I order though one of the delivery apps (I forget which one) and sometimes it takes a bit longer to the food prep but it's not an issue because I know the long wait is because of so many orders, not the staff lacking. I can't even say they are understaffed because there are so many people multitasking in a small space. This is a good place. Editing to say: Jersey Subs (the Corp) should have a better system in place for online orders so the staff on location doesn't get complaints or trashed on Yelp. If it's busy, let people know the wait time will be on hour. It's not hard read more

I love jersey mikes #7...I have loved most locations I've been to, except this one, I went at 1pm on a weekday, it's a smaller store, very busy when I walked in, 5+staff behind the counter working the long line, the door was left open on this hot valley day, too many flies flying around to count...ewww, gross! They had started my order already or else I was on my way out the door! It's not anything the employees could've don't different, it's management caring to put in the fly deterrent on the door and maybe an automatic closer on the doors? To the owner of the store. If you have cameras at the store, please review footage from 6/26/2022 at about 7:40 pm. Your, I assume, manager- female- tells people to cancel their orders, just because crew is late with filling online orders about 20 min and customer inquiries abt it. I ordered online, order had to be ready at 7:25, came at 7:27, order wasn't ready. Spoke with a gentleman at a register- showed him my empty bag/order/name, patiently waited in the store for about 10 min. Asked again same gentleman, at that point he tells me that "he doesn't know what happened and ticket got lost and he needs to reprint it". I questioned this actions. Female manager( I assume), told me to cancel if I am not happy. I don't want to cancel, I want my sandwich and I want to know when it will be ready. At this point another manager comes in, gives me his worthless apologies and tells me to speak nicely to the staff. At this point, all I did is asked why cashier let me wait 10 min before reprinting my ticket. I wasn't rude, I wasn't loud, I was questioning. So this male manager by the name MP continued telling me that he saw me waiting for a while, but I should have figured out that he is a manager ( don't know how- no name tags) and addressed my issue with him ( I didn't know there was an issue, I was patiently waiting for order), since everyone knows that he ( MP) always solves customers' problems. When I tried to disagree, I was told to stop speaking. And female manager again told me to cancel my order if I don't stop speaking. This was like a twilight zone. My food was late 20 min, for which I paid and left a tip, and according to the "management" I couldn't question it, otherwise my order would be canceled. Any other day, I would cancel, but at almost 8 pm and full car of kids waiting for their food, this was not an option. What is the option is to go to another location from now on. So to the owner of this particular store, too bad you have rude and unprofessional staff that doesn't care about you, you lost regular customer. I'm not much of a sub sandwich kind of person. I HATE Subway (who likes the taste of cardboard?), but Jersey Mike's Subs aren't that bad of a sandwich. I usually get the #13 mini Mike's way. The size is perfect for a petite person. Their giant size is literally for a giant person with a giant stomach. I tried eating a giant sub, and it took about a week to finish...and I still didn't finish. Although their assembly line doesn't work as fast as Subway, you are getting really good quality ingredients. Fresh sliced deli meat, bread rolls cut to order, and prepared how you like it. read more

I have to commend the team here for their great customer service. Whether you come in during the lunch rush or at a time where there is no wait at all, the people behind the counter are some of the friendliest and most efficient workers I've met. Some of these employees are younger and this may very well be their first job, so you'd expect some complacency and attitude from them, but there is nothing but genuine kindness and professionalism and it just makes the experience of stopping by for a sandwich that much better. I wish this store were more consistent. Everyone follows a different SOP, which means half the time I get the sand which I want. And half the time I won't. Its great that they offer a call ahead service. Except when they put me on hold for nearly ten minutes. Really? If you're too busy to take phone orders, say so. Don't leave my hanging. Waiting over 40 minutes for one sandwich is ridiculous. I understand you get busy, but perhaps have more staff. Seems like the owner of this place puts profit before timely customer service. That's sad. If you don't have enough staff to attend to customers & orders in a timely manner, then you should stop taking orders on postmates, UberEats, DoorDash, etc. At least for a little bit until your staff catches up. Avoid this specific Jersey Mike's location & go to another one. 40+ minutes of wait time for a #7 is beyond ridiculous. Kind of felt sorry for the staff. They under so much pressure. Update 6/29/2020 - Spotted- "Karen" in the wild So per my first review I'm a JM addict. I go pretty regularly and the staff is always friendly and speedy. Today was no different. Due to Covid regulations you can only have 10 guests in the restaurant at a time, including those picking up orders. I was at the front of the line when "Karen" walked in and immediately started huffing and puffing about there not being a line. There was one for those needing to order. Those waiting to pick up had the other side of the restaurant. This apparently wasn't good enough because then "Karen" went on to rant about how there were too many people inside. Dustin (Real name) is the GM and was working the line and counted for "Karen" showing there were 8 people inside. She continued to rant and rave about everything she could think of; wanting Dustins bosses info. Well JM is a franchise and his boss is the owner and he can't give that info out. She wanted to know the next time the owner would be in, how could she contact corporate.. it was insane. "Karen" wouldn't even let Dustin finish sentences. She continued to say there were too many people and Dustin continued to count and managed it well. Mind you phone is ringing, orders are up, and Dustin is still managing everything in the same breath. Once her order was ready she left. Dustin promptly apologized for the disruption. I feel SO BAD for these guys bc as I left, "Karen" was still in the parking, I assume trying to contact corporate. I would not be surprised if she makes her presence in JM known again today. Dustin and the JM staff handled everything professionally, with respect, and kept calm. JM owner, if you are reading this, you are super blessed with a fantastic staff and they definitely deserve a treat after having to deal with the "Karen's" of the world. HUGE KUDOS TO DUSTIN. I can understand that it was a busy day but the service from the cashier to the apparent manager is atrocious. Ordered 2 salads on App 30 minutes ahead of time. When arrival no salads were made. Asked for approx time to completion (3 times), was told they are in process. 30!!!!! minutes later I singled the manager out to check on the order. Was told they had not been started. What the flying F$#@.... You don't get to say your busy when you are asked directly about an order and you respond with its in process. Best part about it was telling him to cancel order, then told we can not cancel orders that's done online... But going to the site it says canceling orders is done by the location..... Yea another big f off to a customer... There is ZERO that can be reconciled on that level of poor poor service. read more

Great sandwiches. Great staff. The owner is super nice and I remember meeting him closer to 10 and everything is still on and available.Hence the 2 star... BUT tonight...pretty disappointed. Its 924pm and they close at 10. Was craving for a philly but they closed down the grill because it needs maintenance?? Nah...you want to go home as soon as you're close. Own it, just be honest. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but I dont think so. That grill should've been cleaned sooner than when I saw one of the guys cleaning it. I just want to give a shout out to this Jersey Mike's team. Everyone is always so nice to me when I come in! I really like their Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak, but I get it without peppers and onions and ask if they can add mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo to my sandwich. They always accommodate me without hesitation and with a smile. This means so much to me because I know special requests can be annoying. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the customer service here and I stay loyal to this Jersey Mike's branch because of it.
