Customer service- awful Food- ok So I ordered food to go here and actually left a $0 tip, which is completely unheard of for me but considering the fact that it took the staff over 5 minutes to realize that I was waiting to order when there was no one else in there. Then, after I placed my order (two slices with fresh mozzarella and onion) the woman stared and me dumbfounded and rudely said "fresh mozzarella?" I confirmed and she informed me that it wasn't a topping. I remind her that it's on her menu and she says, "Well, it's really expensive so it's not for slices." The way it was handled was awful and I feel like they may just have the kitchen staff working the register- a bad move. It's a shame because the pizzas not bad. read more

Pizza is always awesome, however I found the service at this Johnnie's to be lacking in the customer service dept. I went in July 13th 2014 (this is for the owners/management to know who was working that night). The man-boy (short chubby lil guy) was pretty rude. He was eating at a table when I walked in, whipped his hands on his shirt, dropped my credit card on the ground, got it all greasy, didn't apologize, and served me my pizza dead cold. Did I eat it? Yes. Was it good? Yes, but... I like my pizza RIPPING hot. Again ... Never an issue with the Pizza, but Management, if you're reading this... Do something about this guy. How can you go wrong with pizza ??? We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a vegetarian . The crust was paper thin and completely bland. It had no flavor at all. The vegetarian pizza had a few onions and tomatoes with a handful of olives scattered around - same with the pepperoni. It was like eating cardboard. Contact the Vatican. I have found the Holy Grail of Pizza, not Piza. Although I did have to lean for support after consuming more than my share of the pie along with a freshly chopped salad from Johnnie's NY Pizzeria, I still managed to whisper satisfyingly, "Mamma Mia!" Here I go, but honestly I could not resist from having one slice after another. Now, I'm comparing my recent epiphany to probably romanticized memories of some of the most unique pizzas that I've had on a trip to Italy more than a few years ago. The combinations of fresh produce, seafood, and salumi toppings spoiled me even for the most talked about pies in this country (i.e. from old-school Lombardi and Batali's Otto in NY to Nancy Silverton's Mozza in LA). After years of searching, I honestly gave up. Then, came Johnnie's... When a friend suggested that we dial up a couple of pizzas for dinner after a day of watching Kobe and the Lakers, followed by tennis and a swim, I thought it was brilliant. The same friend who has been a long time fan of Johnny's New York Pizza on Abbot Kinney just west of Lincoln insisted that I try the NY White Pie. In less than 20 minutes, dinner arrived with creamy garlic sauce, gourmet mozzarella cheese, sautéed baby spinach and an additional shrimp topping. I admit I had some suspicion but the burgundy was getting into my head so when in Rome... Ahh, it's a miraculous conception. It's carbonara on a pie but better with lightly cooked shrimp, perfectly pink and not at all rubbery. (Btx, the secret code is to order it slightly undercooked and crisp it up in the oven for a few mins just before serving.) I also recommend the NY Chopped Salad. The list of ingredients include Italian salami, garbanzo beans, roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, diced zucchinis and carrots, Kalamata olives, and corn, just to name a few. Tossed with a lightly dressed vinaigrette, the salad was a perfect accompaniment to a meal worthy of a saint. Johnnie's is my latest favorite pizzeria west of the 405. So I tried this place for lunch two days in a row. First visit was yesterday and my coworker picked up lunch there today. Let's start with yesterday. I got a chicken panini and coworker got pizza and Caesar salad. My panini was literally awful. The bread tasted weird and the chicken was SO DRY it was like eating a chicken flavored piece of sawdust. The bread was also super dry and had almost no sauce of any kind. My coworker liked her salad and said the pizza was OK. Imo it didn't look too good either. Extremely greasy; like shiny. To be fair- the two guys working were very polite and friendly. I almost gave them an extra start just for that but today's experience made that impossible. Today, when my coworker called to place our order, the girl who answered was rude and had a short attitude for the entire call. She also wasn't familiar with the menu and didn't know if our order could be placed as requested (despite the fact I was reading it DIRECTLY off their website). After she abruptly placed us on hold for a couple minutes, she came back and stated we could not have the order as requested. Honestly... this part kinda pisses me off. Let's be clear -- I wasn't asking for some special shit like boil my pasta in Evian, cut all the veggies in 1/8 inch cubes, and make sure all my noodle tips are pointing east upon pickup ok..? I asked for a lunch pasta combo with one of the pastas that is listed on the menu. Literally no extra / special requests on the pasta combo meal AT ALL. Anyways, a reasonable amount of time passes and my coworker goes to pick up the food. The lid on my pasta was not fastened correctly and sauce spilled all over the bag. That being said, the pesto sauce was so GREASY that there was literally a pool of oil in the bottom of the dish; and the bag where it spilled out. Suck. A couple good points- The carrots and broccoli in my dish were very fresh and well prepared; even if they were drowning in oil. The two actual pieces of bruschetta we got were also very good. For some reason, they give you an adequate amount of bread and one tiny, tiny cup of sauce to go with it. So basically 2/3 of the bread will have to be eaten dry- yay. That's exactly what I wanted.. my coworker got some sort of chicken sandwich type thing and guess what? It was DRY as hell. She also commented that the salad didn't have enough dressing... wtf. So bummed since I love Italian and this place is super convenient. Based off my first two experiences, I doubt there will be a third. read more

This Pizza was the best Pizza I've had in Los Angeles. it's amazing because I just stopped by coincidentally. i had the pepperoni pizza and the pizza was just really amazingly freaking good. Exactly what a pizza is supposed to be. The sauce cheese and dough were all really good. I seriously recommend this place and i know i'll be ordering from here now on. This is a great place to get authentic pizza with so many options, which will definitely serve a variety of people perfectly (from veggiterian to meat lovers!) We've tried White PI, Veggie Delight and Shrimp Scampi and they were all AMAZING! We've also tried Nutty Salad, which was super fresh with fruits and delicious dressing sauce. Everything was so perfect. Don't order Domino pizza. With better price, you will get the best authentic NY style pizza and pasta for sure. The owner is so kind and he took care of us really well. I've had my share of NY Style Pizza's and this is surprisingly one of the better of that style I've had in LA so far. They claim they get the water from New York and maybe that does make a difference since the crust while thin, is flexible and chewy. The toppings are good and plentiful and their white pie with spinach and garlic really has some good flavor to it.
