Took my wife here for her birthday at the West Seattle location. The store front is small with only two or three tables. Just order to go and you can eat at home. You will not be disappointed in the taste and portions of your items. My wife and I had ordered two lunch special of the pork ribs, sides and corn bread. The food was amazing. The portions are huge! For $19.95 I got a pound of meat, the brisket and end tips and two 8oz sides. I also added a cornbread for only $1.50. The corn bread must of been 3"X6" Huge! Although the only thing I would say is the meat is lathered in sauce, the meat was tasty and done moist. Compared to Dickys BBQ, which gives you a small amount for more money, this is the place to get some BBQ. I can eat some food, and I had to get a to go box. I highly recommend Jones BBQ! read more

Great hole in the wall BBQ spot and the best in West Seattle. They don't have much seating space (probably 8 seats total + 3 tables) so definitely a take out spot. They also have a Groupon if you're looking to save half off on your meal. BBQ chicken is a favorite and can be slathered in sauce or left off. Brisket is sometimes a bit dry and pulled pork a bit fatty but you get a good bang for your buck. They also have weekly specials including Turkey legs, cat fish, half off ribs and even a family deal with over 2 pounds of meat. I'm appalled at how many times a place can "run out" of something and do nothing to compensate or apologize. We used to be dedicated customers going at least once a week get the same thing every time as it's the only thing I like from there (pulled pork was amazing) but after 7x in two months of running out and telling us after we wait in the store for our to go for over 15 minutes they're out. THEN on top of that about 4x they ran out of fries as well. Since the chances are they'll prob be out of the only things we ever want and will have to go through obstacles to even find that out we refuse to go and have spread the word. Really, really good barbecue. The hot links are probably the best I've ever had! It's definitely a hole in the wall with little to no seating (that's part of its charm!), but the food is great and the customer service is friendly and fast. OMG this is my third time going to jones. The First time I didn't get all the items that I paid for. Plus I received a lot of attitude from Keya. The second time went well its was someone else taking care of my party. This third time its was Keya again and this will be my final time. I stood inside for about 10 mins before anyone acknowledged me. Now there was a guy waiting on a young lady he took her order out to her car came back took something else out and never said I'll or someone will be right with you. He never came back. I stood there then Ms. Keya shows up and she didn't want to be bothered. After taking my order she very rudely told me to wait outside. Keep in mind when I walked in there was a young lady standing inside with her child. If that's the rule everyone should do it. After Keya and i had words about her attitude she cancelled my order while she had me outside waiting on it. I had driven from the sea tac area in rush hour to get there and she cancelled my order because I didn't like how she was being short with me. Stopped in to get some food while hanging out at the West Seattle Brewery next door. It is very small inside - only a couple tables. The woman at the counter who took our order wasn't exactly rude but in no way would I say she was friendly either. We got the pork sandwich with mac n cheese and an order of fries. They brought it over to the brewery! Itdidn't take long at all. The fries were pretty good, wish they had brought/offered ketchup or something to dip them in. Brisket sliced too thickly, also luke warm, rubbery and almost no flavor. The ribs were very salty and tasted like they had a hot link rub. Wasn't sure if I was eating links or ribs. Even hot and fresh, they were just ok. Cole slaw had zero seasoning, but was a good contrast to the salty as heck ribs. Two slices of wonder bread. Are you serious?! Obviously not. What a sad state of affairs Jones Barbeque is in. I have been frequenting this establishment and the other locations before they closed for years. Customer service and cost saving measures are at all time lows. I would go to Jones because it is decent BBQ and they serve up a quick lunch. But their food isn't good enough to justify what happened to me today and I will not be going back. To save pennies, they have lost a good paying customer. For lunch, I always get the rib tip basket which comes with fries and cole slaw. I hate mayo, so they always give me beans instead. Probably a wash financially for them, or at the most, a few pennies extra. I was told today they couldn't do that and that I would have to order a dinner plate so I could choose my sides. Well okay. Pretty lame.....but I could deal with just the ribs and the fries. My meal comes out and I ask for a side of BBQ sauce for my fries. The person who dropped my food said that they would need to charge me $1.25 because "they only give 4 ounces of sauce and it was on my ribs." She then offered me ketchup, which I declined. This place is a BBQ restaurant and they are rationing BBQ sauce. Pathetic. Most barbecue restaurants have bottles of their sauce on the table. What are you doing Jones? The last 2 times I've been there, the beef brisket was inedible, very fatty and inconsistent slices, some big, some just slivers of pieces. The worst service experience I have ever had! Do not eat here. I recently purchased a Groupon for "football special" barbeque bar for my husband's birthday I followed the instructions on the Groupon and ordered at least 72 hours in advance. The ordering process was seamless and pleasant. On Saturday morning I received a voicemail from the same woman I placed the order with who let me know my total (taxes plus I added on a cake) and advised me to pay with cash or check and confirmed my order would be ready at 5 (the party started at 7). I showed up a little after 5 and waited about 10 minutes as a new employee helped the two customers ahead of me. This gave me time to write out my check. My order was ready - I could see it waiting on the counter. The new employee seemed a little confused as to how to ring up my order and asked a more experienced female employee. As the woman rang me up, I reminded her I had a groupon and handed her the groupon and check. She told me they do not accept checks. I told her about the voicemail I had received and said maybe it was because a catering order. I also said I would be happy to pay with a card. She went in to the back to check with someone and came back and told me that the owner that was there (Chase) said the groupon was not valid. I was confused and explained there had not been any issues when I said I had a groupon when I placed the order (the woman on the phone even walked me through what was and was not included) and the expiration date had not passed. This is when things got really weird. Chase came out from the back and agitatedly told me that the groupon was fake and that he had never put it out. I pointed to the phone number on the groupon and said that was the number I called, explained that I had received a confirmation voicemail and pointed out that they had my order ready AND that a note on it said the amount I still owed, which was the same as the amount on my check. He then said I was a liar and repeated that the groupon was fake. He also said, "We don't have a football special and it isn't even football season." When I asked him to talk to catering or call the number he told me to get out of the store. When I continued to talk and try to explain the situation, he kept yelling at me to get out and then threatened to call the police. I left the store and called the number on the groupon. Luckily, the woman answered. I explained the situation and she was also confused and said that they had catering customers pick up at the store before. I asked her to stay on the phone and explain the situation to him. When I walked back in and tried to hand the phone to Chase, he again called me a liar, refused to speak to the woman, said he didn't know who she was, again told me to get out, told another employee to call the police, and got in my face and continued to yet all me (Note - I am a 40-something woman and he is a muscular man). At this point I was near tears. I went to my car and, thank goodness, the woman from catering reached out to her brother, one of the owners, and got the situation handled. One of the female cashiers brought my food to my car. She apologized and said she wished she could say this was the first time something like this happened, but that Chase has a temper and won't listen to them. By the time I got home I was still shaking. I was charged the full amount for the food (they eventually took my check) and, as goodwill, the catering woman offered to comp me the same deal in the future. The food was good, but I do not think I can ever do business with a company that would treat customers with intimidation, rudeness, and threats when they were trying to pick up and pay for the food that they ordered through a promotion the company sponsored. read more

I really wish I could give ZERO stars for this place. Let me start by saying I have went to the Jones BBQ in Columbia City and LOVED it! Now for the West Seattle location, absolutely appalled!!! We went with a Groupon in hand and drove from Kent to West Seattle for this experience mind you. Upon entering the "establishment" it was VERY tiny, only about 3.5 tables. And all filled with patrons. I noticed they had a daily specials board and that day was rib tips special for $12. I asked the guy at the register what comes with that and he told me two sides and a drink. Ok, deal I thought. So I ordered two of those and a extra side of mac n cheese for my husband and I. I noticed he charged me for the drinks but I didnt say anything, didnt feel like arguing since I was starving. About 15 minutes later our food came and it was just two plates of rib tips, my husband asked him about our other sides we ordered and he told us it would be about 5 more minutes. We waited about 15 more minutes and I went to the register and asked for our sides AGAIN and AGAIN was told 5 more minutes. 15 more minutes went by and we are now pissed, 3/4 the way done with our meat and nothing else with it. My husband went to the register and asked AGAIN for the sides very sternly and was told AGAIN 5 more minutes! And he told them that was what we were told 3 times come on here!! About 2 minutes later a mexican guy (the cook I suppose) came out with the reciept in his hand and tells us that the special doesnt come with any sides!! Are you Fu**ing kidding me right now??!! We have been here almost a hour and you tell us this now, oh hell no!! Even the other people in the place were saying thats messed up and shaking thier heads. I told him the guy at the register told us it did and he tells us "oh well he doesnt know anything". What??!! Then why is he working for you??!! I told him it wasnt my fault his employess dont know their job and we are the customer. If thats the case I could have paid $13 for the regular menu rib tips and that came with sides and a drink. So why is $12 a special then?? After about ten minutes of arguing with this joker he says he will make our sides. And can we have the $5 mac n cheese we paid for? He said oh he made that already and the guy at the register must have gave it to someone else!! Biggest JOKE ever, I dont care if the meal was free for a year I wont go back here EVER again and will tell everyone I know this story about this worthless, filthy, rude place. Not to mention the store bought potato salad. The food was ok, but NOT worth the mess we went through for it. There are plenty of other bbq places around to be able to avoid this one. I haven't had this bad of an experience in a long time. I bought a Groupon for half off and was completely excited to use it. My boyfriend and I went to use it on a Thursday at 5:30 and they were closed. Their website said they were open until 7. We decided to give it another try and went when they were open... Nobody was at the counter to greet us. When she was finally done making out with her boyfriend in the back, she came to take our order and was so rude. We had never been there before and she acted like it was a problem we didn't know what we wanted. While she was ringing us up another couple came in and she was incredibly friendly. While the cook was making our food I could see them kissing through the order window. It was completely unprofessional and unsanitary. Once we got our food our ribs were ok but they weren't BBQ, they were just drowning in BBQ sauce. Then we got to the chicken, the first piece was completely pink throughout and the rest was so dry it was hard to break a piece off. The cornbread had no moisture; you could hardly even call it cornbread. It was a waste of time, money, and effort. I don't recommend this place nor will you ever find me there again. read more

Gave this place a second chance and they fucked up my order again. There is no indication that the dessert is self serve. So paid for food I never got. The food was not great I can cook better. This place wasted my time and money. I had a five dollar trip out of good faith. I am in a right budget every month. So my money was excepted no problem getting decent service and being told to get your own dessert is to much customer service for Jones to be dishing out. First of all the food that we had was very good. But they were out of several items including brisket, collard greens and cups for water. The place is a hole in the wall with 3 tables that seat 2 people each so I recommend more for take out than dine in. Our tables were not clean. The service was very poor. The girl working there did not seem happy that we were interrupting her viewing of The Kardasians. She was very rude and unpleasant. Sometimes Jones BBQ can be the best, and sometimes a little inconsistent with their quality. The last few times I have been here, everything has been great. Wish they could let me give half stars, but they wont. For all those talking about rude service, I have never encountered that. There meat on bone has always satisfied me, and they are much better than that new place Pecos down the street. So my four star is really a three and a half star. Public service announcement for all out there with Groupons that are expiring soon. My Groupon said for dine-in only. I was thinking that perhaps the language was standard and not really applicable to this place, so I tried to call and verify. Because it seems kinda silly for a place with counter service, that uses disposable plates and has a grand total of 4 small tables to require dining in. Sure, I understand some restaurants require dining in to boost alcohol sales and tips for waitstaff but Jones has none of that. So what do they care if they box my food up or put it on a disposal plate? It's like Subway requiring you to eat in. Anyway, I tried calling many times to ask (and pre-order) and nobody ever answered. Always got voice mail. I was starting to wonder if the place was even open. Finally, I gave up on reaching someone there and decided to take a chance and drive there. It was open. With a sign on the door that says the Groupon is for dine-in only, but take out is allowed for a $5 fee. I guess that's why the Groupon is for dine-in only, so they can charge $5 for something that is otherwise free. I paid it. If they want my 5 bucks so badly, they can have it. (BTW, cash only, for everything.) The food was fine. The meats were tasty but the sides seemed tired. The counter guy was not unfriendly but let's just say that customer service is not a strength here. I like Jones. I was a longtime customer of its MLK location years ago. I like locally-owned joints. This review is not about the food. Warning: they do not have a bathroom. It's part of the law to allow access to bathroom for customers if you have at least 3 employees working. They had 3 employees when I was there and told me there was no bathroom to use. I don't know how they pass health inspection without a bathroom available. And yes Chayce, I asked where the bathroom was after I ordered and paid and the cashier said there wasn't a bathroom, so where is it then and why would she say that if there was one? I'm not sure why the owner is calling a customer a liar on the Internet. I'm just trying to report what happened so this business could fix. The exterior of this BBQ joint looks a little run down, but inside you get some darn fine food. I ordered rib tips, brisket, mac and cheese and potato salad as one of their combo meals. Much more than I could finish. The rib tips were nice and savory, The mac and cheese was genuine homestyle, and the potato salad was just the right amount of everything. Pecan pie was solid too. Had a full slab of rips delivered tonight and they were the best ribs I've had in my life. If these ribs were your last meal before execution, you would not be disappointed. I got the light amount of medium sauce and that's just perfect. The heat, flavor, tenderness, everything is perfect. The mac and cheese could use some work to be honest. It was way too salty when we ordered it, but that doesn't matter. You can get mac&Cheese anywhere. What you can't get anywhere are ribs this good. I love me some soul food. Ordering pick up I figured I could come and pick up my order. Place wasn't even busy and it took me 50min to get my order. Mostly due to two dissatisfied costumers making a long drawn out fuss due to 1. The groupon order wasn't valad. 2. They didn't accept cash credit. During the Groupon problem a previous customer came to ask for plates interrupting without an excuse me. After dude got his plates said Groupon problem went on about how rude it was not saying excuse me. I agree! After no cash person was done figuring out she had to go for cast, groupon person interrupted paying for my already done order without an excuse me. I interrupted her delaying my order rudely and was shut down then started to get video taped by one of the people waiting..... Ok all the people there were black and I'm white. I was perfectly nice and argued within good reason. for 5 seconds and let the lady have her way anyway. I got a weird vibe waking in there in the first place.... So by the time I finally got home 1hr went by all my food was cold and the ribs were still pretty good as an exception. 1.Jones, figure out your groupon issues. 2. clearly present signs that you are cash only at the time of entry. 3. have the cook or other staff take orders while other staff is dealing with your inefficiencies. To start, I parked in the parking lot out back and you could smell the smoker. That is always a good sign for a BBQ place. Went in and was greeted by very friendly staff. Ordered the 2 meet combo platter to share with Brisket, ribs, a side of mac and cheese, and collard greens. Unfortunately as we were ordering they informed us that they had sold out of all their brisket and that they had another one on the smoker that was almost done and they went to go check on it to see if it was ready. Unfortunately it wasn't and it would take about 45 minutes to finish it. the pit master himself and said its good but its not up to their standard of what he would serve to customers. We were really in the mood for the brisket so we opted to wait for it. the server recommended that we wait next door at the brewery and they would bring the food over to us when it was ready. After having some amazing beers next door we were really getting hungry so we walked back over to see about getting the ribs and the sides. They said they would pack it up and bring it back over to us next door, so we went back and had some more beer. A few minutes later the server brought over a bag with our goodies. The server apologized again over and over for the brisket not being ready and said that they included some hot links, rib tips and corn bread in addition to what we ordered, and that as soon as the brisket was ready she would bring it over. The ribs were amazing! Perfectly cooked fall off the bone goodness. I'm normally not one for ribs covered in sauce but their combination of dry rub and then their sauce was surprisingly good. The rib tips were stellar as well and the hot links were incredibly juicy and smokey. The collards greens were also delicious, and the mac and cheese was some of the best I've ever had. the corn bread was also phenomenal! Finally our brisket arrived!!! and it was definitely worth the wait. sometimes it can be on the dry side or a little flavorless but not at Jones'!!! it was moist and tender. Also the serving sizes for the prices are an incredible deal!! I Had a ton of leftovers! I wish I had the opportunity to try more of their sides but I guess it will require another visit!
