My partner and I's favorite place to come eat some AYCE K-bbq. They are some really nice and lovely people, to the point where they know us by now with how often we stop in. The place is always thriving with people and it is always nice and cleaned with great music options. The service is quite fast and they are willing to accommodate to your needs and party size. They are pretty busy on the weekends, but you can join their waitlist online if you want to get ahead and know their wait time. Prices are very reasonable for their portion sizes & you get a lot of options and sides with their AYCE MENU. This place also serves other traditional Korean meal options besides AYCE. I love this place & will keep coming back!! Keep in mind though, it's not in the best area, so choose wisely on where you park because of car break ins! The kbbq here is fine, its not bad but coming from SoCal, by comparison it does not blow my mind or anything. The quality of the meats seemed kinda old because the texture was milly and most meats didn't have marinade. Even the ones that did was still not that strong of marinade. I do like their selection of bonchon and service is quick to bring out the food and attend to your needs. It is weird though that they don't have those korean bottles for water, we got tired of asking for water refills and asked for a pitcher of water. Had an unfortunately dreadful experience at this (surprisingly popular) Korean eatery by Grand Lake. We visited on a Saturday night at 7:30, and the place was packed with extremely boisterous tables, with people screaming at the top of their lungs. We were asked if we wanted all-you-can-eat or regular service, and we chose regular. We were then taken upstairs to a hidden overflow area that was stuffy, poorly ventilated, and filled with smoky air from the on-table BBQs. There was a button on the table to call waitstaff, but despite pressing it multiple times, no one came. Our server was kind and genuinely tried to help, but it was clear they were short-staffed, and the upstairs area was easy to overlook. When we inquired about vegetarian options, the choices felt quite limited. We eventually ordered a tofu and vegetable dish, but it arrived without any tofu. Service was exceedingly slow, and I hesitated to correct the issue for fear of another long wait. By that point, I just wanted the check and to leave. I don't entirely blame the server--he seemed to be doing his best under the circumstances--but it was clear they were understaffed, trying to serve both all-you-can-eat and à la carte patrons, and managing a hidden, easy-to-forget upstairs area. I will not be returning due to the excessive noise, poor overall ambiance, lacking service, errors in the food, and poorly prepared à la carte dishes, including the limited vegetarian options. I can only assume the high ratings are due to the all-you-can-eat BBQ meat experience, but for me, this place was a 2 out of 5 stars at best. Came here on a date at 5pm on a Friday. We did AYCE KBBQ, prepared with beanies (for our hair) and all! We were seated right at the front door. We didn't mind the breeze. The store was nearly empty at 5pm, but groups trickled in by the end of our meal around 6:30pm. We noticed many groups coming in after us were placed by the front door area as well. The waiting area can get tight. I noticed many sides on their Yelp photos. While there wasn't as many as I expected in real life, there's still a decent variety. The service was quick and easy. Here's a hack: We used some of the red sauce from our sides as dips for our fattier meats. We ordered the usual meats: brisket, garlic pork belly, and it was my date's first time trying pork intestine. I expected it to be crunchier on the grill but they were mushy. It wasn't bitter like some experiences I've had with intestines, but I wouldn't recommend this just based on how thin and chewy it is. We ordered the usual sides: radish wrap, garlic, jalapenos, mushrooms, corn cheese, and carmelized fried potatoes. I do not recommend the carmelized fried potatoes because they just tasted like oil. We've been trying to find a good Korean AYCE spot and I'm pretty sure we found it at this nice spot near Lake Merritt. Made reservations, which is pretty rare for K BBQ restaurants. Our party of 5 sat at a 6 top with two grills and two sets of banchan. The banchan was good, especially the fried potatoes. We ordered 4 kinds of meat and the server brought double, so we were getting 8 plates of meat at a time. The cheesy corn, potstickers, and spicy tofu stew were good apps. The meat was nicely marinated well marbled. Our only disappointment was the rib eye, which came partially frozen and was kinda bland compared to everything else. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Had the AYCE lunch, and I ordered everything except the chicken. For some reason, I really love the kimchi here. It's a but spicy but so flavorful. Back to the meat, my fave is the miso pork and the intestine. My least favorite is the LA style, short rib, and rib eye. The meat was tough for both. The rib eye was just flavorless, which was disappointing. Also ordered the soy bean soup. It was a bit salty for me, I wish they added less soy bean paste. Overall, the BBQ and food here are okay. I was really happy with my experience here. I looove kbbq. I was raised in OC and we have a plethora of kbbq and since moving here to the bay, I've been quite disappointed. But I was told to go to the east bay for better kbbq, and they were right. So much more affordable and the quality is better at this spot. $28.99 for lunch and $32.99 for dinner. They had a lot of more sides than most places do and I like having a lot of options (veggies, side dishes and soups). I came around 4pm on a Friday night and service was quick, obviously it was slower but the food runner would check on us and was very friendly. She said she has been working their for like 15 years I think? She gave amazing service and was so kind. I can't wait to come back and try this place out again. Heard good things about this place, but was deeply disappointed. We did the AYCE kbbq. Service was pretty bad. Slamming plates on our table and not placing items carefully on our table. Some of the meat dropped on the table when they placed the plate and they threw it on our grill. A big no no! Ordered a spicy tofu soup/stew. Tasted like lasagna soup. The spicy pork belly was marinated in too much gochujang. Grill heat was out of whack. One of the servers kept on adjusting our flames every time she passed by us. Really pissed me off. It was served to us cold though so that was a bummer. Kimchi Pancake - Not a fan. I'm not sure if it was underdone but I could taste the flour. I also wish it was crispier because the texture was just too soft. Spicy Soft Tofu Soup - My favorite dish! It was actually spicy! They also gave us lots of tofu. This soup was really filling too. Cold Buckwheat Noodle Soup - My cousins really enjoyed this. The portion is LARGE - more than enough to share. They also give you a nice portion of meat. We weren't sure if the egg was just over cooked or the cold water was a factor...but the yolk was extremely hard. The price is very reasonable, probably the cheapest KBBQ ayce I've ever had. 4 days prior, I called in a reservation for a birthday party of 14 at 7:15pm on a Friday night. Table was ready and prepped for us on time. When majority of the party arrived, they asked if we wanted to be seated. I said sure we can get situated. A few folks were traveling from the city and were about 30-45min late. About 7 or so min after sitting down, staff asked if we wanted to order and I said we haven't looked at menu yet and we're still waiting for others. She said that time starts when you sit whether you're eating or not and there's a 2 hour limit (which I was aware of but unsure why this starts when we're not eating yet which is a bummer!) Instead of complaining, we ordered while waiting for the missing 4 others in our party just to be compliant with our annoyed server. When the meat was delivered, she brought double portions of each to both tables (needed 2 tables to fit such a huge party) -- luckily, we were sitting across from each other's row. This was unfortunate since it prevented us from ordering as much a variety than we wanted since they have a special meat policy. All meat must be on the grill before ordering more and you can only order 3 at a time. As for the service, our server came around quite often but she was super quick and sometimes we had to rush just asking her for things. She barely let us finish talking before she left which was a bit irritating. We had to ask her for water and banchan refills multiple times before it arrived. It was a busy night and it might've been her personality. But hospitality is the field she's in so hoping her attitude could have room for improvement Ambiance was a typical KBBQ house a bit warm, cozy, tight seating and clothes and hair smelling like BBQ when you leave. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because due to parking. It is really bad to find parking here and also wait time.
