Food is always so good. Meat is good quality and they have many yummy side dishes. The prices for all you can eat is also super affordable considering the quality is great. Service is fast and the staff is super sweet and friendly.

Definitely still might go to spot whenever eat Korean barbecue in Oakland!!! the service is always on point!! the food is really worth it ! It's fresh and delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Can get crowded during night time and parking can't be tough[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but once you make it inside, it's amazing!!

We came here to start the New Year 2026. We got seated within minutes. It wasn't too busy. Reasonable prices, which is why we chose this place. Few servers were around. Seemed very busy. At times it was hard to get a hold of them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One thing that was alarming, was when walking around, the floor was slippy. When going to the bathroom, I felt like I was gonna fall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hopefully, when we go next time, it won't be slippy. It was a good place to go to for sure. Will be back

Very good food and great service! A lot of good meat to pick from and cook. Definitely worth the stop at Jong Ga house.

Finally remembered to submit this take away review on Jon Ga House after years of love for this Korean institution in Oakland. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not sure whether Jong Ga changed hands or just did a refresh inside, but the interior is now vastly different than I remember: tables now have individual vent hoods to reduce smoke and allow cooking at the table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just like any Korean BBQ spot, you have to expect leaving smelling like grilled meat. But this is a huge improvement that I'll have to try when dine in sometime.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 2 spicy pork entrees for take home. The cook time was reasonable (20 min after phoning in the order). On arrival, everything was bagged and ready. Service was friendly. Once home, we unpacked and everything was packaged well to avoid any spilled oil or sauces. Meats were wrapped in foil to retain heat. Our dishes were still piping hot. Pork had a good combo of meat to fat ratio, and the spicy sauce was just right... fiery but not painful. Entrees came with a side of steamed white rice and a clamshell container of mixed banchan (kimchi, daikon, pickled cucumber, japchai, fried potato, and marinated bean sprouts). Quality Korean BBQ is not "cheap eats", so prepare yourself for the sticker shock. But if you want great Korean in Oakland, this is a great option.

love this place! this is my second time here and I wish I had come sooner. I grew up in the east bay and I'm bummed I didn't know about it til now! great prices, great staff, and even better food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice, clean restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good variety to choose from. Quality ingredients; however some people f our meats were frozen. Competitive pricing for all-you-can-eat option. 2 grills make cooking more efficient. However they're very slow in coming around to take orders. We were waiting around to order with nothing on the grills or our plates. Staff was very polite and courteous.

Came here for Saturday lunch and it was a great experience. Would come back again for the beef bulgogi and beef brisket

Popular Korean restaurant in Oakland. Street parking only. We have been coming to this place for over 20 years. The quality of their meat were not as good anymore. But they still got lots of customers so expect long wait for weekends. We all hope they can bring up the quality of the food again. And we hope this place stays in the neighborhood and more people can come and enjoy their food from all over the bay area.

Firstly, it's wonderful to see this great restaurant survive and thrive thru so many years and challenges. And you can't ask for nicer folks than the owners and the servers. Please be polite and treat them well. I often dine out for lunch during the work week to take a breather from the office hustle and this restaurant is one of the few that is on my weekly rotation, which says a lot. (was that a run on? ) What can I share about this restaurant that hasn't already been mentioned? This is one of a few that has a more extensive menu than your typical Korean restaurant. If you want to venture beyond the popular Korean BBQ, try their #44 Spicy Sea Bass Soup or #B (yes I said number B) Braised Sea Bass (both best shared) or #90 Bulgogi Soup. Or my lunchtime fav #34 Atka Mackerel, which has a milder, slightly sweeter flavor than the regular mackerel. In comparison to other Korean restaurants, their lunch menu offers the best value. And you won't find another place offering their refreshing, cold spicy soup (yeolmu gooksu) as an appetizer. Ever wonder what the green vegetable in it is? It's the leaves and stems of the Korean radish. (You're welcome ) Etiquette tip: One of the perks of dining at a Korean restaurant is being able to ask for refills of the side dishes (banchan). But typically you want to limit your ask to no more than one additional serving of about 3 of the side dishes. Please don't be that person who asks for a refill of ALL of them (unless you're in a large group) nor that person who asks for 5 additional servings of one ‍ (again, unless you're in a large group) Bonus tip: if you aren't BBQ'ing, sit in the front room to avoid becoming Pig-Pen (Peanuts character for you kids) with a halo of KBBQ smoke to repel humans and attract raccoons. Bonus Korean language tip: whenever you see words with the letter "L", pronounce the word like it's a Spanish word: e.g. bulgogi, kalbi, yeolmu, samgyupsal. Now go back up and reread this review out loud with the correct pronunciation!

Jong Ga House is a really fun place with great food. The only downside is that you can't take leftovers to go but I understand because it's all you can eat. I recommend getting a reservation as wait time can be really long during peak dinner hours, even on the weekdays. I also recommend giving yourself at least 15 mins to park and get there as street parking is pretty rough to find in the neighborhood. We always get the all you can eat and find it really reasonably priced. The meat is excellent quality. The restaurant is clean and the vents are working overtime to keep the place clear of smoke. We really like adding the kimchi pancakes and the cheese corn. I highly recommend both. We also usually get the spare ribs, the brisket, and the bulgogi. The meat is fresh and super tasty. Looks really good quality. This is my go to spot for KBBQ.

The food was phenomenal, the ambiance was so much fun! Service was great and they were attentive. The only downside is parking. It's street parking and it so tough to find especially on weekends, since they're nearby Lake Merritt. Be patient with parking! It's worth it :)

Why don't they give you to go boxes on "all you can eat?

You generally are not allowed to bring home "all you can eat" food anywhere. It's because people can exploit and order more than they can eat and bring it home, which the restaurant can lose profit. However, you can to-go food that are a la carte,…

Can they accommodate a party of 12 with everyone sitting together or do we have to sit at two tables apart from each other?

Yes. If you reserve ahead of time, they can accommodate by combining tables in the back section closer to the kitchen door.

    All you can eat?

    Yes, $30.99/person

    Whats the price per person?

    $30.99

Are they open for outside dining?

No, they don't offer outside seating (no room). We had to pick up our food and eat by the lake (there are tables available).

Is it open for dine in yet?

Yes! There is inside dining now

Do they have garlic butter chicken?

    Nope

Do u have special menu or discount for the birthday guy?

If you go on the birthday day & show them your ID you will get the discounted price

    Are there any vegetarian dishes?

Before the main dish comes, you get 12 bowls of kimchee. These are totally vegetarian. Also, you get a red-colored noodle soup that is made with fermented young daikon. This is vegetarian. Now, regarding the main courses, I do not know. But I…

I heard the parking is hard during dinner time?

During prime time it can be. It's mostly street parking with meters. You can try residential parking but after 5:30 or so it gets harder because everyone is coming home from work.

Does anyone know the pricing and what Happy hour menus are?

$17 bucks for lunch. happy hour is 9pm-11pm AYCE for $20

LA kalbi is a nicer cut and generally more flavorful and tender (at least from my experience)

Is the lunch menu also for Saturday/Sunday?

The lunch menu are available on weekends!

After reviewing a few hot pot places on Yelp, I chose Shabu King based on the positive reviews. I called to make a reservation. On the day of our visit, I was glad to find our table was ready at the appointed time. One of the staff explained that each person first pick a broth type, then you can request side dishes or type of meat(different cuts of beef, pork and there is also lamb). For vegetables and seafood, they have a bar area for each and you can pick from the generous selections of fresh seafood and vegetables. I was really impressed with the variety. For seafood, they have whole small octopus, sliced calamari, fish fillets, clams, mussels, whole large prawns, as well as small crab. They also have a condiment bar for you to make you own dipping sauce. Each person get their own pot, and we enjoyed many helpings throughout the evening. Sometimes it may be difficult to flag down a server, but when you do they are friendly and eager to take your order. I think their operation can be improved by having customers scan a bar code and order online as I have experienced in other AYCE places. Everyone in our party enjoyed their own customized hot pot, and we walked away with a very full belly. Will be back again when I have the craving for AYCE hot pot!

They have a huge selection in the raw ingredient bar, and we loved the quail egg, ramen, and spongey tofu. All the veggies were fresh. Our favorite meats on the grill were the short ribs, garlic pork belly, and garlic brisket. Everything was fresh including the garlic. For the Hot Pot you grab items right off the revolving conveyor belt. Besides everything else (noodles, seafood, veg, and things we'd never seen) we managed to snag a bunch of tiger shrimp. The conveyor spins clockwise and we were at 1 o'clock, so before anyone else had a chance, those were in our bowls or on our plates - selfish for sure, but it still counts as a win. Drinks & Extras: All the starters and mains were delicious. (Though honestly, skip the desserts--those were pretty sub-par, but you're not here for dessert anyway!) But beware - the soju pitcher looks like a carafe of water. I poured a big glass and took a big gulp. It was a "bit" of a surprise. Water has a green lid. Lol. Our server was top-notch! He was super attentive, changed our griddle grill frequently, bussed dishes quickly, and brought out meat rounds as fast as we could ask for them. He even helped cook a few items on our behalf. Service like that made it easy to leave a well-deserved cash tip. Overall we had a fantastic lunch experience and will definitely be back, to try the dinner menu.
