This place is honestly great in some aspects, but just extremely overpriced. But I guess that's what you get with a chic NYC coffee shop. It's super hard for me to resist being that my office is two steps away around the corner. I will say there are some upsides + downsides: Upsides- coffee is actually amazing. I usually get the iced cold brew or iced latte. Usually super quick to come out. They also provide you punch cards (have to go 10 times though before you get something free, lol). The interior decor is well-thought out and beautiful. Stop in to do some work or go on a cute coffee date. Downsides- as mentioned, super pricey. I have been in here a handful of times and what baffles me is that a breakfast burrito (with eggs, beans, and guacamole) costs $15. Whaaaaaat?! That's insane. Also always super slow to be made. I waited yesterday for about 15 minutes for it to come out and it wasn't even packed. My point here is... if I am coming to Kaffe in the future, it's for a quick iced coffee and that's all. I can't be spending $20 every morning for a breakfast and coffee when I can get it for half the price somewhere else. Hot mess. Rude staff. Lazy baristas. Gross coffee. We were the ONLY people ordering a coffee and two girls behind the counter were gossiping. One comes up to take our order, says she can only put the coffees in to-go cups since all the cups are dirty. We asked if they could put it in any glassware, even a different size? She looked at us like we were crazy and said "We don't do that here." So we ordered espresso instead. The cashier rang us up after a weird interaction, and we were served a dirty cup of espresso like I have never seen... like half of the outside of the cup was drenched in espresso to the point you couldn't even pick it up off the saucer. Maybe you couldn't see in the candlelight? We sent it back and the barista agreed it had channeled pretty badly and gave us another (in the same cup) that also channeled everywhere, but not quite as badly. I could not believe the laziness. I have worked in specialty coffee and you at least wipe the rim if you make a mess pulling your shot. It was ridiculously under-extracted, something was clearly off with the espresso that day. We didn't finish it and left. Awful. Try harder. read more

Thank you Kaffe for moving closer to my office (the one 5 blocks down may have been a bit too far for a quick taste of AMAZING coffee!) The coffee is great and smooth. Individually prepared like San Francisco's Blue Bottle. The decor is minimalistic and rustic but warm. While you can get subpar coffee across the block at 'wichcraft (happy hours after 3) i'd rather pay full price and enjoy my drink. Tried the oatmeal...it was okay. Go for the coffee. read more

Super sweet little hipstah cafe across the street from my friend's work. I'm so glad he has some quality food to eat during his long workdays! Interior is just eye candy too! Stepped out of the blustery October wind for a warm cup of coffee. The entrance is flanked with flocks of fluffy sheep. It was kitschy and dark-lit. Coffee was standard fare, a dark Colombian roast. For a team coffee adventure, I was asked to curate some coffee spot ideas since I run a foodstagram (slightly inactive atm but follow me @phothegram) and this was one of the places I haven't been to but looked cute. It ended up being the winner because my team became fascinated with the sheeps in the yelp pictures and the coffee break became a unexpected sheep experience.. So when we went I was actually surprised by the amount of sheeps just lined up everywhere - mixed color sheeps too. Anyways, onto coffee - I was pretty basic and just got a latte but it was a nice cup of coffee. Was strong but not acidic. Came here to study for a few hours on a Sunday: Much emptier than the other Kaffe 1668 down South. Very dark inside with kind of bad lighting to do paper work?? Lots of seating available, but we didn't see any outlets... no WiFi either. Panini was very good (albeit small) and came with free iced tea. Delivery was so disappointing from here. I've been ordering breakfast and brunch foods from local cafes during the pandemic and most places have upped their game. This place has not. I ordered a breakfast burrito and matcha bar and the breakfast burrito was pretty much 90% white boiled potato wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla and the smallest slivers of scrambled eggs, cheese and avocado. It was the least flavorful breakfast burrito I have ever eaten. And they didn't even include the matcha bar in the order. They were out or forgot. Nice place for a grab and go coffee to wander down Greenwich street. Iced Latte ($4.75): very strong, a good amount of milk, and flavorful. They actually have Stevia packets (instead of just the usual Splenda/Equal culprits), or honey to add in. The place itself is dark as opposed to the usual bright cafe, so a change of pace if you like that sort of thing. Wish they would put the coffee menu in an easier location to read. You can't see it until you're basically at the counter, and thus rushed to order. Also, a tad expensive, so will stick to the basics. read more

If you're a coffee drinker, they have a great selection of freshly ground coffee. I've tried Colombian and Guatemalan and they are both heavenly. Their coffee of the day is not so bad either. Unfortunately, I stopped drinking coffee, but I definitely recommend you to try a cup next time you're in the area! I've tried their alkalizing salad and grilled chicken mango guacamole on gluten free bread for lunch. It tastes very fresh and an interesting combination of flavors. Attractive minimalist coffee shop and eatery with an appealing sheep theme. Long, skinny, lots of wood but not much natural lighting. Didn't have time for a bite to eat, but my latte was delicious. I can't say much about the coffee here (the iced mocha is indeed basic but so good!), but the atmosphere is on point, dimmed light, candles in little mason jars, fresh-cut flowers: very soothing and focus-inducing, felt like I could write a book here! Also found it super funny how I think most about sheep when I'm having trouble falling asleep but this coffee place has walls decorated with sheep for you to count! The music sometimes is too loud for studying. Pretty spacious with 9 or 10 wooden tables, each can sit 4 people comfortably. It'd be better if they can play softer music. Very nice relatively quiet spot. I met a friend here for coffee and a light lunch to catch up. It was a Sunday afternoon and at first it was actually so quiet (we're talking library) we were a little weirded out, but we got over it. Very good coffee- between the two of us we had a latte, cappuccino, regular black coffee, and an iced and all were very good. The avocado toast was also delicious. Kaffe 1668 has great coffee, tea and food sourced from local and organic resources. I give it only 3 stars because I find it to be way too expensive for what you're getting. You could easily spend $15 on a coffee and a snack. I also get a little weirded out by their sheep decor. I get that's the theme, but there are literally hundreds of the same little sheep adorning all the walls and shelves. Excellent ambiance and great coffee, perfect for getting some reading done after a nice salad at sweetgreen next door. They don't have wi-fi, so be prepared to not be able to connect to the Internet. However, if you're looking to just meet a friend or read a book it's a great spot. Walking into Kaffe 1668, I was surprised at how large the space was and that there weren't a lot of patrons for a Saturday afternoon. I really love the minimalistic aesthetics of this place and the sheep add a cute vibe. Staff is friendly and patient, and are really good at explaining items that you may never heard of. Orders also come out fairly quick. I ordered the matcha latte and I thought it wasn't bad. Definitely on the pricier end, but as with all hipster coffee places, it's also not surprising. Even after just a single visit, @kaffe1668 has become one of my favorite coffee joints in Manhattan. True to my hipster leaning roots, I'm a sucker for a dark room and an overpriced cup of coffee, and Kaffe 1668 is all that and a bag of Swedish Fish. Featuring pour-over caffeinated varietals, rows of seating for MacBook Pros to do their thing, and a nice jewel case full of fun Swedish sacchariferous delights, you'll think you're sipping java on the western banks of the Baltic Sea. Though it seems to barely toe the waters of culinary Scandinavian couture, it's probably enough to leave you wanting more. Important to note - they don't give you the stink eye if you choose to pay for your $3 cup of coffee with plastic. They gladly swipe and smile, leaving you none the wiser if deep down, they truly hate your guts for making a monetary exchange via credit card. A huge pet peeve of mine. read more

I work across the street so I've gone here for lunch often. The food and coffee is good but the place gets so crowded that the baristas get overwhelmed for sure. When I order a sandwich 50% of the time the order is given to the kitchen and the other 50% someone forgets to hand walk the order over. Then I wind up waiting 20+ minutes while other people are served. The cafe has two levels, one social, one quiet. Lots of seating. The upstairs has a quirky and heart-warming decor of lambs and willow branches; downstairs is rustic wood. The shop works for a business meeting or a coffee date. The cafe is a mix of rustic and whimsical that I've never seen before and that charms my heart. The cashier and bar lines were 3-6 people deep but moved quickly. Staff were pleasant and efficient. I had a cappuccino with whole milk; excellent foam and lovely art. 30 dollars for a microwaved tofu lasagne that tasted like it came from an Amy's box, some veggies with a very bland cashew dipping sauce (would plain tahini have been all that hard?) a chia-Açaí pudding and an iced tea. And the service? A confusing 4-5 trips to the counter with a mistaken first order and multiple name/order number interactions around a crowded, poorly-laid out space. I can't comment on the coffee as I was too annoyed to stay. We went to Everyman for espresso, which totally rules. As for the pros, the sheep toys decorating the walls are cool. I also noticed that an oddly large percentage of the female customers were dressed like Chewbacca--fur coats, fur hats, fur boots.
