Came here with a friend one weekend afternoon and decided to try the dinner buffet. Honestly, everything was delicious and well worth the price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is casual but very peaceful, especially if you sit outside in the garden.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a great experience and will definitely be back!

One of my all time favorites in the Dallas area. I always receive friendly service here, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant atmosphere can't be beat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been going here for over a decade and can also vouch the food is always good and confident. It's simple food, but it's done completely right. This place is always worth a stop.

Oh Kalachandji's, how I love thee! What a gem of Dallas food cuisine! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My review is specifically for the restaurant, which is inside an Indian temple and includes a wonderful outdoor courtyard area for eating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The food is vegetarian and all amazingly fresh. You walk through a buffet line and can fill your tray with is a mix of fresh veggies, steamed veggies, various kinds of rices, usually a lentil soup, potatoes prepped multiple ways in delicious sauces, beans, Indian crackers, salad, desserts, and perhaps my most favorite- the fresh cinnamon raisin bread . [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can even enjoy tea here while you soak up sunshine in the courtyard with your meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is so nutrient dense, and I always feel envigorated after meals here. I love to come here after my long runs at the lake to refuel my body with amazing and healthy food. I also delight in sharing this place with my treasured friends. All my memories here are precious to me as I tend to bring my best friends and loved ones here on special occasions too! The servers are friendly and helpful as needed, though you mostly self serve through the buffet line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You don't have to be a vegetarian to appreciate this unique, authentic, and exquisite place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Truly one of my favorites in all of DFW!

    Vegan delight.

If you're looking for something a little different, this is the place. Inside an Indian temple. The buffet was all vegan. Everyone was happy and pleasant. The food was full of spices, well-blended so nothing overpowered the flavors. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was great with a small courtyard just off the buffet line.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here on my way to white rock. It was a particularly nice day, and what I never noticed before was that they have an outdoor seatings in the courtyard. Side note: I used to come in evenings always sat inside. It's a buffet style, so you take what you want. There are dishes/desserts that cost extra, but most are included in the price. I don't remember what all I had, but I took a bit of everything, and they all tasted good. Even dessert was very nice and wasn't too sweet. This restaurant is located within the temple. Follow the signs or ask around and you won't have problems finding it.

Such a gem located inside of a Hindu temple. I came for a friend's recommendation on Diwali! And it can I say that the moment I walked in, I knew this was it be authentic place to be. Yeah, outside looks well-maintained, people are extremely nice, and the food was some of the best Indian food I've had. The depth of the flavors, complements of the spices, all were quite amazing. I would say that the selection was not crazy, but you can tell that each dish was made with quality. All vegetarian/vegan choices - There were three different curries, a lentil, soup, two different types of rice, broccoli, and some stirfry cabbage! Additionally, the desserts were vegan brownie and the rice kheer which were both DELIGHTFUL! Let me just say that I have not had a buffet in a long time and I thoroughly stuffed myself silly! ($17 dinner and $12 lunch) We will certainly be back again soon!

I'm so happy to have found this gem thanks to a recommendation! We have been here three times and every time is better than the last! I love the food there's great variety and always new things to try , the price is great for all you can eat. The service is always great you can tell the staff enjoys working here and the ambience is great they have an outside portion that looks like a garden it's so peaceful and just a nice way to enjoy your meal. Definitely recommend if you like Indian food , I'm not vegan but really enjoy this restaurant!

Mindful Eating! A warm and welcoming environment where you instantly feel a shift of energy. We went on Saturday afternoon for lunch and surprisingly it was not too long of a wait. As you enter the restaurant the buffet is lined up and filled with amazing fresh foods. Take a tray, line up your plate and utensils and enjoy the variety of all vegetarian (and vegan) food options. Everything was fresh, delicious, and satisfying! The courtyard is also pleasant to be surrounded by! I definitely recommend trying this mindful food experience!!

    Ask the Community - Kalachandji's

Are pets allowed in the outdoor area?

I don't think so, you have to go through the restaurant to get to the area.

Can any vegan entrees be made WITHOUT oil?

It is a Buffet, no custom cooking so, Salad and steamed veggies have no oil, cooked food and salad dressing probably have Salt, Oil and Sugar

    Is the dinner buffet open?

    Yes and amazing food

    Is there a dress code?

While I did not see any notification suggesting one, but since this is part of a place of worship, modest attire is recommended.

Has anyone taken the cooking classes on Thursday's?

Yes! They are fantastic! And you’re allowed to take photos and video.

We went for brunch, which I will admit is overpriced. $75pp before drinks? Wow. Definitely go hungry. Were we mad at it though? Definitely not. There was so much to try, I loved the sushi bar, the kids loved the dessert bar, especially the chocolate fountain. The location is nice and upscale and it's a nice place to go celebrate something. I hope it's not actually closed!

It was my very first time going to Komodo and the first time experience was not the greatest. Before I go into my review, I did enjoy the ambiance, decor and food. The food was actually really good and the portions were decent. I ordered the wagyu beef dumplings and garlic noodles for starters. I initially chose the Peking duck and was super excited to try it. This is where it started to downhill... As we were ordering starters and drinks, the drinks came out fairly quick and the starters did take about 15-20 minutes which I understand it was a Saturday night. After most of the appetizers came out, we decided to order our entrees because we noticed how long the appetizers took. About hour and some time goes by, the waiter comes back to tell me they just ran out of Peking duck. Which was disappointing so I quickly ordered the Korean fried chicken. The timing with how they ran out the entrees was a whole mess. There were two food runners that were confused with the food orders. 1 of 8 of my friends got their food way before all of us, we had waited an additional 15 minutes before 2 more entrees came out. Oh! My second appetizer (garlic noodles) still haven't come out yet and some of my friends had their entrees....My Korean fried chicken came out but it was fairly quickly so I'm not sure they just threw it in real quick for an apology of taking so long. Two of the breasts we're hard and tough to cut. So then we waited and waited for my very last friend to get her Lo mein...it was an extra 45 minutes until she was able to get her food!!!!! Unacceptable. I was so irritated about that and just ruined the mood. We were all done eating our food by then. We were already frustrated and ready to go at that point, but as soon as she got her food, the veggies were undercooked and it was an overall upsetting situation. I wish I had a better outcome and better celebration for my birthday. I would only recommend this place if you have nothing to do..because you will be waiting for your food for a long time. I suggest to eat before you go and by the time you digest, your food will be ready

Upon check-in, we were offered a complimentary drink before heading upstairs, where we checked in again and were escorted to our table. The waiting area was beautiful and offered stunning views of downtown. My daughter ordered the 8-ounce filet mignon with a side of macaroni and cheese, while I chose the salmon steak with mashed potatoes. My daughter's steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and she absolutely loved it. My salmon was also excellent and came with a delicious caviar butter sauce that complemented the dish perfectly. For dessert, my daughter ordered the Crown Block Sundae, which came with a variety of toppings. Since it was her birthday, the staff brought it out with sparklers and "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, which was a thoughtful and memorable touch. Our waiter was friendly and courteous, but he wasn't as attentive to our table as he seemed to be with some of the others nearby. One thing to note is that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. After presenting the check, our waiter mentioned that any additional tip would go directly to him. I found that comment a bit unusual, as it could imply that the automatic gratuity is not fully distributed to the service staff. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and it was well worth it for such a special occasion. While the food, atmosphere, and views were excellent, this is definitely a splurge, so be prepared to spend a significant amount if you dine here.

We made reservations for Sunday brunch to celebrate my brother-in-laws birthday (he was in from out of town). When we walked in there were a bunch of people seated in the sitting area, some people were standing about the mimosa bar area as well. You have to wait for the elevator to go up so we took a seat while we waited. No one told us that once you check in, you have to stand in line for the elevator. Maybe they said something but it was fairly loud and we may have missed it. When the hostess came around she recognized that we checked in but were not in line - our mistake but we didn't know. All she had to do was direct us to get in line. We didn't need her attitude like she was exasperated with us as if we're children. We get upstairs, get our order in and start our family meal. Everything is going great, we're starting to wind down with some desserts and coffee. My father-in-law isn't a sweets person and was done with his meal. Our server came around with water but he declined since he was done. We recommended that he try a dessert we liked, which he did try. After that he needed water and asked the server for some when she came by with coffee for us. Her comment was, verbatim "I already asked you if you wanted water and you said no." My father-in-law apologized, even though he was not in the wrong here. She realized her mistake because her tone completely changed and she said it's no problem and she got the water. Her comment and reaction caught us so off guard. It ended our meal and celebration on such a sour note. This type of behavior is so off putting anywhere, but especially at an establishment like this. That being said, the food was ok. We all enjoyed the seafood station. The oysters, ceviche, and crab claws were a hit with all of us. Their bread/bagel station with all the toppings was also really good. Loved their juices! The individual dishes were ordered were ok, some better than others. The carving station was ok as well. The desserts surprisingly disappointed. Ambience is nice, view is good. As far as the staff/service goes, the only good thing about was those that were bussing the tables. They were all nice, polite, and friendly. I know this is long winded but the overall service needs to be better. It likely that ours is an isolated experience but it's the only one we have, and probably will have because of how bad it was and how we felt when we left. Everyone deserves respect, if we give it, we expect it back at the very least.
