The flavored sponge cakes are ok, the taste is never strong enough for me. I like the original sponge cake the best. It is soft, sweet & delicate. I had the Thai iced tea & it was very good. Casual place with plentiful seating. There are humorous signs & decor.

Not much more needs to be said, this is the OG sponge cake in ChInatown, and still the best imho. Prices are higher as expected, but still very affordable. My favorite flavor is still the original due to the best texture and eggy taste. However, the Butterscotch and Pandan are really great too.

I always wonder about the places that are named the best. After all, it's subjective. For me, this is the best spot for spongecakes. The translation is literally paper wrapped cake and they really nailed the recipe here. It's not the usual cup shaped cakes but it's a flatter, wider version. Highly addicting. I recommend ordered a box because you will go through it in just a few days. Taste and texture are light and just enough. Nice crust on the outside and majestically fluffy cake on the inside. The sweetness is just enough and you can't stop at just one! Pricing is a steal. I believe it's $1.25 for original and a little more for other flavors. You can easily miss the place under the scaffolding but keep an eye out for the signs. It's a much older spot inside but keeps true to it's authenticity and history.

I came here after seeing fellow yelper Ruby C's reviews on Google maps and her recommendations never disappoint! I honestly thought what could be so special about sponge cakes (after all they are just sponge cakes, right?!) but they were unexpectedly good. So soft, light and airy - almost like a cloud in your mouth. And despite the airiness, they were so flavorful! Don't let the modest exterior fool you, when you slice them open, the cakes are so colorful on the inside. We got the Ube and Green Tea; the Ube was delicious and such a pretty purple but as a Matcha lover, I fell in love with the Green Tea! Very friendly owners - they recognized us from before and immediately asked "Ube?" lol.

open till 7:30pm daily and family runs. Absolutely non judgmental vibes and free styles. Nowadays, lots of cafes are closing in this area especially if you walking around this neighborhood... :( I've ordered lemon nana tea and hibiscus. Both amazing. if you love the fancy hotel styles, this is not for you........ TIP: If you come late (around 6pm), sponge cases are sold out.

I never imagined this place is so specious inside! They have tables you can sit and enjoy the sponge cake! The staff were so friendly, the sponge cake was amazing! I just need to go there early tho. When I went on Saturday around 5pm, they only had regular and chocolate chip flavor left... Need to make another trip early!

The sponge cakes here are unbeatable. THE BEST in NYC!!! (So much better than spongies across the street) The service is quick and the ambiance gives super traditional Chinese cafe. If you're sitting in and you get the original sponge cake, they'll typically give you a fresh one out of the oven (which is SO GOOD).

My aunt brought us here after a day in Chinatown. My relatives said the place reminds them of the old bakeries in the Philippines. The service is quick and easy. Seating is first come, first serve. Decor has a sense of humor and was well thought out. The pastries were fluffy and light and went well with the coffee. This place is definitely a must-go for the pastry, the coffee, or just as a reprieve from the outside.

Hidden gem literally that was a serendipitous find! Best flavoured sponge cakes I've had in a really long time. We got the Ube and pandan cakes, flavors are not too strong but we loved it! Lady at the cashiers desk was so sweet, when she found out we're aren't locals, she invited us to visit again the next day and mentioned the flavors they would have available. They rotate flavors and ofcourse I would have loved to visit for a lychee rose sponge cake! Definitely a must try place for teas and cakes!

Kam's cakes stand out with their superb golden brown top, a delicate, slightly caramelized crust that gives each bite the spirit of baking itself. The exterior sets them apart from any other paper wrapped cake, while the inside is light, moist, and fluffy with the perfect chiffon texture. If you love chiffon cakes or freshly baked light cakes, this place is a must try! They have a very cozy casual sitting areas with tv, and Bob! It's one of those timeless classics that instantly fills your heart with childhood memories. Bring your best buddies there, snack, chat and enjoy!

My go to spot whenever I'm craving soft, fluffy, light, and moist sponge cake. They offer a variety of flavors, but my favorites are the original, butterscotch, and ube. Whenever I'm in the area, I almost always pick up a box or two for my family and friends. The staff is also very friendly.

Might be the best sponge cakes in the city. So many flavor varieties, friendly service and a variety of drinks. And very affordable! The sponge cake itself is SOOO soft and has great flavor (as described). If you go early you might be able to grab a fresh one - this is totally worth it. They are hot and there is a slight crust/crunch to the top exterior which doesn't retain once it's cool down and put in a bag. My favorite is the original, then ube and then matcha (the matcha is a heavier flavor so it makes the dough a little more dense). Their drinks are average but compliment the sponge cakes well. You're here for the sponge cakes anyway.

Kam Hing Bakery/Raspberry Hibiscus Tea: While waiting in line, I had trouble reading the menu on account of multiple racy posters blocking my view. I ordered this drink as a consolation because my original choice was sold out. The tea was very refreshing and sweet; it surprisingly surpassed my expectations by a long shot!

It felt like items weren't made with care and mass produced at a factory or something. I went 10 minutes before they closed and there was still 10+ of each dessert. I'm not convinced that they will dispose of them. Even if they do, it means they didn't do a good job in forecasting demand especially after being in business for multiple years. I ordered mango and yuzu. Both were too sweet and had one dimensional flavor and textures, not refreshing per their stated flavors. Even if their appearances take effort, they don't look pretty enough for me to forgive what goes in my mouth. I'm used to having patisseries with many layers and elements. Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I will say that's it's definitely not a good on-the-go sandwich, as it falls apart easily. However, I don't think this is a great spot for coffee. I was a bit underwhelmed by my latte, which tasted more like thin drip coffee than a rich, strong espresso. I also think they could offer more sweetener options.
