I don't know what to do about this review.. after a recent work function here I was geared up to give them five stars. I'm starts when you walk in the door and are hit with a dim, blue-purple pulsing vibe that reminds me of a Tokyo club (I mean this in all the right ways). The service is friendly and crisp. Lucky for us we were in for a treat - work was footing the bill on a smorgasbord of sushi, sashimi and apps. Even things I wouldn't normally get were delicious such as general tsos chicken and lemon fried shrimp. The sashimi came out beautifully presented with thick smooth morsels. So what's not to like? Unfortunately myself and a number of our party became violently ill in the hours after our perfect meal. Honestly, I don't think it's the restaurants fault. There's fish poisoning you can get even when the fish is of high quality and handled correctly, just from the fish itself being infected by toxins. But I can't say it didn't color my experience. Will I try kamiya again? You know, I will. But I have to stick with fancy for the next few weeks... hopefully next time I can give kamiya the 5 stars I'm sure it deserves. read more

We normally go to Kamiya with the kids or a large party, so we sit at a table. This time was just my hubby and me so we sat at the sushi bar. We ordered the Omakase - 10 small plates of sushi made especially for you. Sushi chef Alex made us 10 incredible plates - I had a hard time determining which was my favorite! Kamiya's sushi is always fresh and beautifully plated. However, the Omakase is an even better experience. If you have the chance to order it, please do. You will not be disappointed! read more

I always sit at the bar the staff is always attentive, professional and always great conversation. Im very picky about tuna and it's always super fresh. I've tried many of the dinner plates an other rolls recommended by the knowledgeable staff and have not ever been disappointed. I was very uncomfortable with their lack of safety precautions when restaurants were able to re-open after the COVID-19 shut down. Had an early dinner and they had a happy hour on house sushi and kitchen appetizer. The sushi was good, yet the green curry with the fried rice was disappointing. Our server did not get us a refill or asked if we were doing okay. In addition, she mistakenly brought a california to our table when it should have been a rainbow and instead of coming up with a solution... she blamed it on me and I had to come up with the solution for her and ask her to just put the tuna on top. We eat here all the time. But NEVER again. I honestly wish I could give our experience negative stars. After a full hour of waiting, we asked about our food. We were told it was up next. Fifteen minutes later, after everyone around us (who were recently seated) all received their food, we asked again. The waitress never apologized, but instead, put her hand in my little brothers face for asking and stormed away. He is 16.... It was clear the waitress forgot the order because it was after asking twice that we saw her arguing with the sushi chefs. It appeared like that was the first she gave them our order and they were frustrated with her. After an hour and fifteen and us asking about out food twice...she placed the order... We asked to speak to the manager, but they never came. On the way out we faced a sassy and defensive hostess. We asked why the manager didn't come out. Went here recently before hurricane Irma. Food was very good, a lil more money than other places in town but definitely better than those places too. The server (Angela) was extremely professional, attentive and always had a smile. The duck appetizer was awesome. Okay..I've eaten a lot of sushi in my day...and I have to say they do have a great selection and the fact that they add fruit to some of there rolls is even better, I love it when you add fruit it just compliments the flavors so well ya know. There fusion as you've read and suprisingly you can get very good thai food on top of everything else which makes it a win in my book, that is too hard to find these days. We went with friend to Kamiya on a Saturday night. It was fairly busy. The restaurant inside is beautiful, if you can get past that ridiculously gaudy scrolling LED sign at the entrance. I was totally NOT impressed by the food I ate. My wife had the sushi, and she said she liked it. I had the chicken panang curry. It was a large portion... but there was NO flavor. It was the most tasteless bland Thai dish I have ever eaten. We also started with the pot stickers for an appetizer... and they were tepid at best. I will not be back. read more

Great food, really friendly staff, and nice vibe. Can easily eat too much here. My 9 year old loved the shrimp tempura roll. The special rolls I have had are great. The normal rolls are pretty reasonably priced, but the special rolls can get pricy. We love the calm neon lighting and bamboo decor. Very clean. Angela is super-nice and had good recommendations! My boyfriend and I typically frequent Tama's in Atlantic Beach for our sushi dates. But after our visit to Kamiya 86, that will change. This place is great! The staff was friendly. The decor is cool. We like to sit at the sushi bar. I had a mango basil tini. It was delicious and served in an interesting glass. We tried the Kamiya roll and the yummy roll. Both were delicious! We were very impressed. For two rolls, a liquor drink, and beer it was around $40. For the quality of seafood, the price is definitely worth it! We will be back! read more

Our first time here with a friend who swears by this place. Overall a good but not great experience and I've certainly had better. We shared Mongolian Beef and it was utterly bland and tasteless. Not bad mind you and the beef was tender but not great. We sent it back and got General Tso's Chicken which was better but nothing spectacular. The service was great and they were cool with us sending the food back (we usually don't). The owner came over to apologize and everything was fine. The decor is sorta neat with the fiber optic lights and things but this place is loud as heck and they do a ton of business so there is constant movement. read more

Celebrated a buddy's birthday here and it was amazing! (Thrusday 6/15/17 night at 7:30) We were able to set a reservation and got to sit in a room for just the 7 of us. It was a very cool very different experience. We had to take are shoes off and sat on pillows the hostess offered us. Are waitress was very nice and patients with us. Again seven young adults celebrating can be a handful and she was very helpful. Sadly I don't remember her name so I can't give her the credit she deserves. I went here after a 13 hour shift. I'm an RN. The service was terrible. A couple tables down from me was a male, probably his wife, and another woman. The mail server that I had kept going to their table refilling their drinks asking them if everything was OK and things like that. The server brought me my food and never came back to check on me. I needed shrimp sauce from the second he set the food down but he was in such a hurry that he didn't wait for me, and I was speaking as he was walking away and he did like you didn't hear me. So I ate the rice and the meat part of the meal but saved the sushi because I wanted the shrimp sauce. This guy kept coming over to the table where the three people were sitting and he wouldn't even turn around and look my way. He would refill their water bring them things etc. Meanwhile I'm sitting there not eating for a good 10 or 15 minutes because I needed my shrimp sauce. 25 minutes later I finally caught his eye and he came over and asked me if everything was all right. I really wanted to tell him that he has ignored me this whole time and never had the courtesy to at least check that my food was OK after he dumped it off. However, I didn't say anything other than I asked for shrimp sauce and more water. He brought that and I asked for the check. At this point I just wanted to leave because he ruined my dining experience. Nothing like going into a restaurant by yourself and made to feel like you don't matter. I still tipped him 20% even though this would've been a case like they did in the old days of leaving a dime. I really felt discriminated against. No other servers paid attention to me either. I looked classy so I don't know why he was discriminating against me. The people at the other table kept picking their teeth with their fingers. I like to give somebody the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe they're having a bad day, but he waited on two different tables excessively. And for me I couldn't even get a drink refill of water and him to even look my way. I was almost to the point of walking up front where they make the sushi at the bar and ask for shrimp sauce and water. I won't be coming back here. read more

Although the restaurant is nice inside and the waitress was great, the sashimi was horrible. My Asian wife who grew up on sushi and sashimi found it a bit stale and was able to eat about half her plate. My (adult) son on the other hand took one bite and said that there was no way he could eat it and ordered another dish. When the waitress asked if we wanted his sashimi boxed to go we told her that we though it was bad and that is why we ordered an replacement dish. Then Manager them came out and said that the fish was fresh and that it "came off the boat this morning". She than asked if we wanted us to box it to go. I politely said "if it tastes like it bad to us, why would we want to have it boxed up to go? Please just throw it in the trash". We were billed for and paid for everything even though most of it ended up in the trash. When i informed the waitress that I was going to leave her a 22% tip even though the meal was terrible, she said "I'm so sorry, I begged her (the manager) to do something about the bad sashimi but she refused" There are many places to get good sashimi in the ares, sadly, this is not one of them. read more

Mango tango roll needed more mango, could hardly taste. Super White tuna roll good but would've been better with the asparagus i asked for and they forgot. Edamama good and very salty (which i liked). Crazy dynamite roll was a dud for us, was just mush with crisp outside. They wouldn't put avocado on just half of roll (like fancy sushi will) but that's ok. Maybe was just or roll selection, I'd consider trying again but enjoyed fancy sushi more thus far. If there was a way to give zero stars, I would. I ordered a simple Pad Thai, medium 3 heat. I took it to to-go and when I got home, it was dry and tasted like mild cardboard. I called hoping they'd rectify the situation. Instead, they asked me to explain what happens, put me on hold for 10 minutes and then had someone else ask me to explain what happened again. At that point, I just wanted a refund for the terrible service and disgusting food and they said flat out no. The owner admitted they messed up my order but she refused to make it right.
