I hear people from other parts of the country criticize our local establishment. No we are not LA, Chicago, or New York. But we truly enjoy what our local establishment have to offer. This is for his new "38 Degrees". My wife and I went there for dinner to try their new style restaurant. The new system is a $21 single price per adult. Having heard about Kenny Wards a few times we were expecting the same quality. What a major disappointment. When we went in and as we were seated, the first thing I saw was a raw concrete floor that looked dirty. I would have at least expected paint. The server was very nice and attentive. My wife order the chicken and it was a half of a chicken and she enjoyed it except for the batter. I ordered grilled shrimp. They were tough and chewy. The vegetables were served in small bowls that you served yourself. The mashed potatoes seemed to be instant! The beans and corn were like straight from the can and heated up. All in all a very disappointing dinner. I felt like we were on a road trip and stopped at the next small town for dinner in the local diner. The only difference would have been $10 at the diner for the same thing. The one star is for the excellent service we had from the server. read more

This was my first visit to Kenny Wards. My wife and I chose to eat here for our wedding anniversary. Given all the positive reviews I had high expectations! So why just 3 stars? With only 3 tables being seated. I ordered off the Surf and Turf section getting a 10oz. Filet and fried soft shell crab. My wife ordered the fried grouper with shrimp/artichoke cream sauce entree. It took almost 55 minutes for our food to arrive after we ordered. We were not given an explanation on the wait, we were told several times that the food should be right out. After 30 minutes, the waitress asked "how did I like my steak cooked?" Did they overcook the one I ordered, dropped it on the floor?? Once the food was delivered, my wife's food wasn't hot. Almost like it was cooked and sat under a heat lamp to keep warm. The next time we saw our waitress was when we needed our leftovers boxed up. We did not get drink refills or asked how our food was cooked. It was almost like they knew they messed up but didn't want to ask us..... The menu items and daily specials looked awesome, a fresh rose and candle at each table made it special. They cook bananas foster dessert at your table side which smells up the entire dining room! All the makings for a perfect night, but the kitchen and wait staff came up short this evening...ugh. We just wanted it to end. I would totally give them another chance? Yes, but at this price point they should have their stuff together or at least communicate to the customers if something isn't right. I would've totally understood. If I could give ZERO stars I would. My husband and I enjoy trying different steak houses and Kenny Wards is trash! I ordered the Prime Rib, burned on the outside, rare on the inside, my husband got the Filet, they brought him a prime rib, he sent it back for the correct steak, came to him raw inside. Sent it back came to him charbroiled the same piece of steak came back burned to a crisp and still raw inside. Also the twice baked potato is only half a potato. The only thing that saved this place for us was the martinis. I'd rather drive a few driveways down and go to Cheryl's! Half the price and twice the service and taste! Also I almost died! Absolutely amazing! I've heard of about Kenny Wards for some time and finally made my way here. I'd consider this a fine dining establishment that welcomes casual dress. I will say our server didn't quite meet my expectations. When asked about the menu she was very short and in a sense seemed to want us to rush our decision making process. Considering we were the first patrons when the restaurant opened, it was a bit off putting. I started with an appetizer - crab cake which came portioned as bite size balls. Flavorful, full of crabmeat, perhaps the best I've ever had. Next, the main courses. Each plate arrived hot, 400F to be exact. The portions were more than enough. Truly, there wasn't anything on the menu that wasn't worth trying. For dessert, a slice of homemade cake. Let's just say do yourself a favor and leave room for the cake - for sure enough to take home. Our table also enjoyed bananas foster. I've seen better table side presentations, but then dessert was good and the ice cream didn't melt too much which is a plus for me. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

He was rude, passive aggressive, acted as if though our table (just the 2 of us) was not worth his 1.5 we spent at that table eating on food that was worth 1 star with 5 star prices. Especially after noticing the tables around us (our white counterparts) were well taken care of and really gave the vibe that they enjoyed themselves. My first and ONLY experience with Kenny Wards was terrible and again to the waiter Adrian you really need to reevaluate how you want your customer experience valued. First time at restaurant and I am shocked at what just happened. I wish I could give zero stars. Soft shell crab appetizer had no seasoning or flavor. Salad had 1 tiny little red tomato and wilted lettuce. Entree of duck breast was served on hard, cold rice When bill came left a 15% tip and left. Was flagged down in parking lot by waitress wanting to know why we did not leave a bigger tip. And her explanation was because management will get on her as to why she didn't get a bigger tip. Our server knew nothing about the menu and apologized saying it was his second day back after an eight month hiatus because his full time job was driving a truck. Our cocktail order was incorrect and there was never any effort to clear dishes throughout the meal. Food was delivered sporadically with no effort to pace. $50 for prime rib should warrant a degree of service that wasn't happening here tonight. We were also subjected to servers parking at the side bar in our space picking their teeth among other things with no regard for us.....the paying...actually overpaying guests. Go elsewhere! Having skipped lunch, we arrived at 4:00 as their first patrons for the day. We were treated as royalty! We started with the sautéed crab claws (a GREAT choice!). My husband opted for the trifecta with grilled amberjack and the Cajun cream sauce (grilled is the way to go with amberjack). I was skeptical of the (only 2) scallops.... But since I LOVE scallops I ordered them anyway, and boy, was it the right move! They were huge, perfectly cooked, and delicious! Our server Ryan greeted us as we walked in. We weren't sure if we were going to eat there and asked to browse the menu. Ryan was very accommodating and offered us a seat at the bar and ice waters while we looked. It didn't take us long to see that this was a restaurant that took customers seriously and more than likely took the same approach to their food. We asked for a table for two and were seated at a charming table complete with a single flower and candle. Nice touch. We order a bottle of wine and browsed the menu. I ordered the house cut ribeye and my wife had the snapper. We also had baked oysters and lobster deviled eggs as an appetizer. All the food was cooked to perfection. My steak was perfect with just the right amount of seasoning but as good as that was the snapper won this meal. So much flavor with the combination of lump crab meat and artichoke cream sauce on top. It stole the show! After dinner we passed on the homemade cakes that were on display in the dining room. Not because they didn't look and sound amazing, we were just too full. Ryan made sure we had everything we needed and walked us out at the end of our meal. Excellent service from start to finish! They are what they advertise, fine steaks and fresh seafood. Marinated crab claws were on point for appetizers. My wife ordered a ribeye and I had the "carpetbagger" and we were both pleased.
