Quiet classy is the way I would describe this place. Understated and uber clean. Great service. Cocktails and wine available. I love me some cushioned seats with comfortable backs. No booths but the table spacing is fine. Dessert (only thing I had): Warm sticky rice and fresh mango. Perfect serving size with a huge scoop of coconut ice cream added to the side. Delish. The coconut ice cream was very flavorful with coconut shavings throughout. Tasted more coconutty than vanilla which I loved. Only suggestion would be a little coconut syrup in the sticky rice. Honestly, the portions were super tiny for what I got as a lunch deal. It came with a small vegetable soup, a small papaya salad, and the main item: bbq chicken and rice plate. Not the best Thai food I have tried but it was decent. However, after tips and tax, the total was almost $20. I would much rather pay for an entire plate of pad thai or pad see ew for that price. Lunch special pad Thai is a steal and the flavor was very on point, not too sweet, somewhat nutty, not overly red bean forward. I love shrimp as protein and you get a lot of them! The lunch special also comes with soup. I don't know why reviews are so divided but this was solid for me. Service was quick, we were in and out in under an hour which was great for lunch. In July 2024, I got salmonella from this restaurant, MY IVY. I ordered their "Lunch Special" BBQ Chicken with papaya salad, Thai iced tea, and Angel Wings. I was hospitalized and nearly died. I was unable to work for a month and lost a significant amount of pay. On top of that, the food and service were not great. This was a traumatic experience. I hope the restaurant takes food safety much more seriously so no one else has to go through what I did. read more

Food was amazing!!, but the lady that always takes everyone's order basically the host she is rude as hell, last time I was there, which was March 2 I had gone there to eat for lunch, everything was going well,before paying, I was taking my card out making sure I picked the right card before paying, the. she SNATCHED my card out of my hand. that incident makes me not want to go. My coworker saw what had happened and thought she was rude for doing that. I've never had someone that I am paying a business for to snatch a card out of my hand. It encourages me not to come, I would love to eat there again but she is just rude!! This neighborhood restaurant was closed for over two years due to the building needing serious repairs. We decided to have dinner there and were totally blown away. It has come back much better than before. My wife had the caramelized lychee duck, one of their featured dishes. The duck was moist and the flavors were complex and amazing. I had the green curry with shrimp along with a side of jasmine rice. I've had many version of this dish; this one was one if not the very best I've ever had. The veggies were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispness. There were plenty of fresh shrimp in a delicious coconut milk curry. We very much recommend My Ivy! read more

So I think the standout item here is something I take for granted at other Thai spots. It's the peanut sauce. Seriously. I probably would have if I was at home alone in front of the TV watching something on the Food Network like "The Pioneer Woman" where Ree cheerily makes cookies out of caramel corn and peanut butter. It was delicious if somewhat overpriced given that it was hardly an effort on the part of the chef. No tofu please. Having the sauce on the side at least allowed me to dip the veggies gingerly without overdoing it, no small feat. To complete my dinner, I ordered the $9 Fresh Spring Rolls, which were well put together with lettuce, spinach, basil, mint, vermicelli noodles, tofu, and carrot slivers wrapped in rice paper accompanied by guess what... yes, peanut sauce only it was on the plate in a pool for the rolls to sit on (photo: http://bit.ly/2KpvaNS). Came here for a weekday lunch as this place is close to work. They seem to be mostly a take-out place; when our group of 5 arrived around noon, the restaurant itself was almost empty and there were plenty of seats, but there were a lot of people coming in to pick up take-out orders during the time that we were there. The ambiance is quite nice and the area is clean and well-maintained. Service was on the slow side, and it was especially frustrating that the other 4 people in my group got their dishes super fast (within 5-10 minutes) but it took over 20 minutes for my pad thai to come out, so there was an awkward period where everyone else was eating. The pad thai itself ($10.25 on the lunch menu, with choice of chicken or prawns) was decent, but I thought the portion size was a bit on the small side and it didn't have as much flavor as other pad thai dishes that I've gotten. My Ivy is a gem on Divisadero street. They have a wide ranging menu of Thai dishes and have gotten quite creative with traditional dishes. They have a large selection of creative cocktails as well. While some of the traditional dishes aren't the best I've had, (I wouldn't recommend the pad thai or other noodle dishes) they excel at others. The golden calamari is easily the best calamari I've ever had. While it seems like something so simple, the calamari here can become the star of the show. Crispy, hot, and covered in a sweet chili type glaze, this and a bowl of rice is all I need to have a good meal here. However, the lychee duck and spicy catfish are also great dishes. All three of these dishes bring a different take to a traditional meal. And honestly this review is based off of the strength of these three dishes, as well as the fact that they have never been busy in the 5-6 times I've come here. If I could, I would give a 3.5 but I think My Ivy can easily become a true 4 star restaurant because my favorite dishes display the potential this restaurant has. It is pathetic that Pacific Heights does not have good Thai options. You'll have to head towards the Tenderloin (at Lers Ros) or Inner Richmond (at Marnee Thai) to get the traditional flavors you expect from Thai food. I was in the mood for some light and healthy salad and the mango salad filled the craving. I was digging around for more grilled prawns, but they were generous enough to put two in there. (omg) Hmm. Yes, you can make better salad at home and for $9, there wasn't much flavor to it except lime and fish sauce. The chicken lettuce wraps are a great low carb snack, but the only dominant flavor in the sauce is Hoisin. The tom kha soup is passable. The amiable service is welcomed, especially when I'm exhausted from my core40 workout, conveniently located one block away. And the free thai iced tea is nice with the yelp check in. I ordered the fried chicken that came with rice and a side of sweet chili sauce, along with the Thai iced tea. I got my order pretty quickly, and I was a little disappointed. It was a lot of chicken for around $10, but it didn't have much flavor. At first bite, I thought it was okay - mostly tasted salt. But as I continued to eat, I realized that's all I could taste. I had to rely on the sweet chili sauce for another flavor profile. But I was really hungry, so I ate it all. The Thai iced tea was good. I'm never really on Divis unless I have a doctor's appointment, but if I was in the area, I'd probably consider another place before deciding to eat here again. read more

Wow, this place just recently opened and I must say, I am definitely a fan. It's a great Thai place. Came here during lunch, it wasn't too packed which was great. They offer a complimentary miso soup too! What I ordered for lunch: - Chicken Lettuce Wraps with minced chicken, water crest, carrot, fresh ginger, green onion served with lettuces. Really good and refreshing. It wasn't too heavy and the sauce adds a kick to it! - Spicy Catfish Spicy - crispy catfish wok tossed with eggplant, bell pepper and kaffir lime leaf in red curry coconut sauce topped with crispy basil.
