The loco moco is so good!! So I come here all the time, but I've never really felt the need to write a review. It's just the kind of place I go when I happen to wake up before noon and say, "hey, we can get brunch!" My usual order is a koa omelette and either pancakes or waffles. But that all changed recently. I'm somehow dumb enough to not have realized that a loco moco is an option here! I love loco mocos!! I used their online ordering system for the first time (very convenient btw) and maybe that's why I was able to process the menu better in my brain. It was a breeze picking up my order at the counter 15 minutes later. Even better when I realized you can get a loco moco with hamburger patty AND corn beef hash! This dish is a match made in heaven. The patty is nice and thick, and the gravy is a little different from usual brown gravy, but super flavorful. Be warned that the corn beef is the kind that comes straight from a can, but you're lying to yourself if you don't think that's the best kind. Seriously. They fry it up nice and crispy it's so good. Don't cancel me lol. The rest of the menu is equally delicious. My go-tos are the banana pancakes, mochi waffle, or strawberry cheesecake pancakes if I'm feeling extra fancy. The cherry on top is that the prices are SO affordable for the huge amount of food you get. Definitely one of my favorites. read more

We're visiting family on Oahu and my 96yr old MIL wanted to go for liliko'i pancakes at Moke's in Kaimuki. Turns out they're closed for renovations so went to nearby Koa Pancake House. This is an order at the counter restaurant and they deliver to your table. The 4 orders we made were for eggs Benedict, blueberry crepes, corned beef hash, and mahi mahi breakfast plate and our drinks were all coffee. All dishes were well executed and the ingredients fresh. My mahi breakfast was really fresh and I would rate as 4.5 stars. I had a bite of the blueberry crepes and would give it 4 stars as it used whole blueberries and not a compote. Everyone enjoyed their meals and pricing was reasonable. The pleasant surprise was that the coffee was really good. The staff is super helpful and friendly. PRE CoViD ... boy oh boy, if this is how they are Pre CoViD, I'd hate to see how they are doing now, in the midst of the pandemic and city lockdown.... Needless to say, I was not impressed by 1) the staff and management, 2) the menu (so many choices but they are actually all the same with a change in gravy or jam or...) 3) the quality of the food (well Terry, what do you expect for a take out type eatery?) But on a bright note, I will say their pancakes are great. You should eat it there because once the pancakes turn cold, the delight is gone. It becomes just an "ordinary" pancake. Parking is a so so situation. Nothing more to say about that Price point? Fair I think, now if they can only improve on the front of the house attitude I might dine there more ofteh. I'm glad I finally tried Koa Pancake House out after passing by for years and thinking that it always looked closed for business from the outside. Surprisingly, when you enter the restaurant, it is hardly the dingy place it appears to be from the outside! The place is bright with Hawaiian accents and a high ceiling with cute chandeliers decorated with kitchen utensils. Tables and floors are CLEAN, and all employees are friendly and accommodating. Hubby said that even the locked bathroom was very clean. You order at the counter, and your food is brought to you. We ordered Portuguese Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, with Fried Rice; the Loco Moco with Vinha D'Alhos pork; the Mochi Waffle; and coffee. The portions are generous, and coffee has free refills. All of the food was delicious except for the fried rice which had no taste. I'm used to fluffier rice that is soaked overnight, so "bb shot" rice is unappealing to me. I prefer a lot of fresh green onions on my fried rice (like the old Kam Bowl fried rice), and this serving had several tiny pieces of cooked green onion. The Loco Moco Vinha D'Alhos pork was tender and delicious. The mochi waffle, while less crispy than we had imagined it would be, was very scrumptious and did not require syrup. One can see that Koa is popular amongst the working crowd in Kaimuki as well as happy retiree regulars. I did not appreciate the two men in the middle of the restaurant talking loudly on their cell phones--too bad inconsiderate clods like these require establishments to put up signs. "Take your conversations outside because others came here to eat and don't want to hear your big mouths and business." The music inside is a little frenetic for my taste--I'd change it to softer Hawaiian but that's just me--people do want to talk and be heard. I'd give Koa Pancake House 4 stars if they improve the rice and music. The cleanliness is impressive, and I only wish more businesses were this clean. read more

Fantastic! Mostly locals, excellent macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup. The eggs Benedict was really good, we asked for bacon and hash browns extra crispy and that's just how they arrived. The staff was super friendly and warm despite all our special requests...and the prices were very reasonable. They do serve food on paper plates with plastic forks, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the meal thoroughly. My husband got the mahi mahi plate and he enjoyed that as well read more

Food is good , but the manager was overly rude for no reason. I come in and sit while my brother goes and orders for us. The manager rushed over to me and told me I can't sit here until I order. I inform her my brother is ordering (keep in mind the place is nearly empty with 4+ tables open.) She said read the table (which said wait until you order before you sit) and I said I read it but he's in the middle of ordering right now. And she rudely just repeated "read the table" over and over. Then made me stand in the corner for 3 minutes while my brother ordered. Not to mention she was breathing down her employees necks, micromanaging everything. They seem fed up with her attitude as well. This visited was tarnished by a rude manager. I wanted another 20 mins once I got there, so my order took a total of 45 mins. The food was undercooked (potatoes, eggs Benedict muffin not toasted, waffle soggy), it was really disappointing. I think all the locations are the same. For online orders, they tell you it'll be ready nearly AN HOUR after you place an order. That to me is ridiculous! I went in thinking it's just their system then the lady at the counter tells me "you placed an order for pick up at 9:10a. They didn't start on it yet" (I ordered at 8:02a) I told her I don't see why it takes so long. At least she was nice enough to push it through but still it's so stupid to me for it to take that long. 20-30min I can understand but an HOUR??? Forget this place! read more

I have only been here for the pancakes (take out only) as I like 'American Breakfast' and will do the bacon, eggs, Portuguese sausage, mahi-mahi my way. This place is close to our home and it's easy to order online and take-out for breakfast. It's usually pretty good, not hard to eff up breakfast. This is just a reminder to slow down a little. Our waffle was under cooked and soggy. The Portuguese sausage was only cooked on one side. I'm sure they would refund or redo the order if I went down there but my time is more valuable. The 5 minutes it took to post this is more satisfying than a refund, and it might keep others from setting sick. read more

Delicious and fast! We went in on a Tuesday at 10:30am. My daughter got the chocolate chip pancakes and ate them like she was starving. My mom and I had the Koa omelet which was so good - perfect flavor and not too salty. I also had a side of fried rice which was excellent - great flavor and lots of the crispy bits that you want in good fried rice. My son got the Koa burrito and loved it. Decided to go here for the mochi waffles for breakfast. I have never eaten a mochi waffle it tastes 99% cake batter and 1% mochi.....not worth it to me. Also ordered a koa eggs Benedict. We cut into it and behold, it was overcooked. I went back to other's reviews and noticed they had similar experience so I accepted the fact that that's how the Benedict's are like here..pretty disappointed.
