This is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. There is one place in NYC that is close, but can't beat the food, flavor, portions and prices. We travel to San Diego, as well as NY, but have never found any place to compare. Krung Thai is more than a restaurant, it's my home away from home...with the food and taste that I wish that I cook and serve from my kitchen. I have introduced dozens of people to this place, and they agree with my opinions! A friend is arriving from out of state in a few minutes, and we are going to head over for dinner. Disappointing at best. Albuquerque has a great asian food scene and this place is not part of it. The dinning room is run down and debatably clean. The food was okay but nothing to write home about in comparison to other Thai places within a few miles. Our meals came out five minutes apart and there was a total of four people in the restaurant at the time. The spring rolls were pretty bad; the pork tasted old and the shrimp tasted dirty. read more

One of the better Thai places in Albuquerque! The staff is super friendly and that had a variety of dishes to pick from. I ordered the Pho and Pad Thai which were delicious! I've been coming here for over ten years and it's as good as it gets, I recently took my brother for the first time and we order two dishes each because it's too hard to choose and I wanted him to try a variety of what they offer. My all time favorite is the marinated steak in the specialty dishes, but make sure to leave room for dessert, their sticky rice with mango or coconut ice cream is what dreams are made of. read more

This is probably the best Thai food that I have eaten in Albuquerque. We tried the Pad Thai and the Panang Curry and both were delicious and huge! You definitely get your money's worth with both the size and the quality of the food. The service was also excellent. Pretty good place for Thai food. There sticky rice is probably one I have to rave about because they must cook it the traditional way. The smell and texture is different. Nowadays people have learned that rice cookers can also cook sticky rice and it's not the best experience. read more

This is the best Thai in town! The really isn't anything on the menu we haven't tried. The coconut and lemongrass soup is a favorite in our household and is a must to start any meal! We love it with the tofu or the chicken. The red curry is to die for with or without pineapple - depending on whether you ask me or my husband. We both wake up in the middle of the night absolutely craving their pad thai - him with chicken and me with tofu! It is always spiced perfectly with peanuts and the right amount of lime. My mouth is watering as I type! They also have a few Chinese dishes on the menu if that is your thing and I love the sweet and sour chicken and the beef and broccoli. My fish loving friend loves this place too! We all love the Thai tea as well! This is our favorite place in town! But watch out - if you ask them to make it crazy hot, they WILL! - OH! The food here is ALWAYS great, they have never let me down but instead have always made my food great each and every single time it has gotten better. The plates are big so you get more than what you're paying for. I tried this place today. I had been wanting coconut soup. I usually go to Thai Tip, but while it is yummy it is inconsistently spiced and very expensive. Krung Thai's soup was good. It was nice that it came with rice, but it was extremely mild. In the future I will order it much hotter. I wasn't asked to specify a spice level. I asked on the phone and the lady taking my order said it comes mild I could adjust it if I'd like to. Since I had no experience with this restaurant I was hesitant to jump in and ask for gear, but I regret not kicking it up. I think 4 would be fine. This soup had much fewer vegetables than many places, but it still tasted good. I will order here again I ordered for a second time today. I got coconut soup spice level 3 and pad Thai spice level 3. Both are fantastic! The soup is still milder than most so I guess I'd like a 4 or 5 on it. At level 3 the pad Thai has bite and is good. I Don't know what the other review was speaking about saying they disliked the pad Thai. Mine is quite excellent and the serving size is very large. I will order both of these dishes again. In the middle of a pandemic, when trying to support Albuquerque restaurants, pass this place by. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Chicken Chow Mien. The Pad Thai was good. It was a decent meal. The Chow Mien was awful. We got it for the vegetables, but two little wavy cut carrot sticks does not really seem to fit the bill. The chicken was sparse and dried out even though the dish was swimming in the sauce. The noodles were soggy.....It was a mess. Don't waste your money. There are too many other restaurants. read more

The chicken in the tom yum soup was not fresh. The tom yum soup was sweet which seemed a little odd to me. The pad thai had a very bitter taste to it that was overwhelming. My wife had the beef broccoli stir-fry lunch which she said was fairly good. The service was not very good. The waitress, who turned out to be the manager, was not very attentive. When she finally brought the check and I told her about the food issues she got quite defensive and did not offer to do anything to take care of the situation. The dining room wasn't very clean. I travel to Albuquerque several times a month, and more often than not my dinner is had at Krung Thai. I've eaten Thai food all around the US so I can compare Krung to thai places in Seattle, Portland, Washington DC, Atlanta, etc., but I can't comment whether its 'authentic' Thai. My standard dinner is spring rolls, a curry, and/or sometimes the mango with sticky rice. The spring rolls are top notch and they are a bargain: $3 for 2 large rolls with shrimp, pork, rice noodles, bean sprouts and carrot. By comparison, the same appetizer at Thai Tip is $7 and they are small and full of lettuce (eww). The coconut soup (chicken or shrimp) is fantastic and arrives in a pot the size of a bucket with a bowl of rice, enough for 2 or 3 people. Curries are also generous and good; my only criticism is that I prefer a wider variety in vegetables than what is offered. I haven't explored further since I've found what I like. Krung Thai lost one star for me with a disappointing pad thai - overall a bit too sweet and lacking in 'pop'. This shortfall is easily forgiven because of their great performance on other dishes. read more

Tried the Yellow Curry +4 on heat. Whew! Potatoes were absolutely perfect - this is a sign to me that they know exactly what they put on the plate the time they put it on a plate! My curry tasted fantastic and was spiced wonderfully. Lunch-time Parking for me was not a problem. Hidden lunchtime jewel, until the rest of youse start queueing around the block! This is definitely not my favorite Thai spot. We are used to having our Thai food spicy hot & neither of them were (even though we requested it). Instead they just put sides of chile flakes, which doesn't quite do it for us. If you are a Thai food lover, I don't believe this is the spot for you. Ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai with egg rolls today to go. Egg rolls were alright. Wouldn't recommend the pad thai. Not a whole lot of punch to it flavorwise or spicewise. The whole thing was 14.99 (ouch), which is a bit much for a hardly satisfying meal (drink not included). I have been going here for few years since I moved to ABQ. This place is better than some restaurants in Thai town, Hollywood where I used to go for Thai food when I lived in Orange County. I saw comments about the look of the restaurant, and I have to say that if you are looking for romantic/fancy enviroment rather than authentic restaurant, you should not come here. Best Thai dish ( and this is compared to other Thai restaurant): Pad-see-ew. I also love their pad thai and panang curry. I usually order my dish with tofu. Thai tea-was pretty strong and a good portion and sweetened well. Quail-it wasn't very good, had high hopes for it. The texture if the meat was weird. Laab chicken-1 chili spice, waaaay salty and waaaay galangal heavy. Not a fan of either. Wouldn't get again. Sticky rice-done decently with big portion, so I see why pricier than usual. Tofu soup w vermicelli - very Chinese like soup, pretty mild flavor almost like a wonton or egg drop soup base. Thai style papaya salad-1 chili spice, this was an odd one. I think it's prepared in advance and kept aside. It was ok, the dried shrimp wasn't the best quality. Glad they didn't cut corners with tons of lettuce or shredded carrot. Green curry shrimp- delicious! Excellent creamy base and plenty of solid ingredients. Thai beef jerky-pretty good, thicker than I like, good size portion, no dipping sauce provided. Sticky rice mango- perfect mango, sticky rice coconut porridge rather than sticky rice slab with coconut sauce. I prefer the stereotypical style.
