I had a sandwich from here the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good. A few tips: to use a credit card your purchase must be $15 or higher, parking is in the back of the building and free til 5:00pm. They have daily specials located on a board to the left of the register. The difference between 1/2 a sandwich and a full sandwich is $3 so perfect to split between friends but I swear I could have ate the whole thing! Next time I'll come back for a pizza! read more

La Pizza Rina Combo - large 16", regular crust $22.50 (Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, onions) Vegetarian - large 16", thin crust $21.25 (Mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, onions and tomatoes) Three Toppings - large 16", thin crust $19 (I picked Canadian bacon, pepperoni and Italian sausage) These pizza pies were very generous on their toppings, especially the onions (maybe too much). If you're a cheese lover, this place will satisfy your craving. As a shock, it wasn't as greasy as I imagined. My favorite was the three toppings with the meat because the saltiness of the protein and the dough.You're given a choice between their hand tossed thin, medium (regular) or thick crust. I did not see or taste the difference between the thin and medium. I was hoping for the thin to be less doughy but it still had a nice bite to it without being overpowered by the crust. They cut each pizza into 10 slices. Inside you'll have seating for at least a dozen people. When we got there, half of us were waiting for our take out orders while some people enjoyed eating at their estalishment. We have been eating here for almost a year now. First I just want to say that every time I go it is the same people working and it totally gives the feel of a classic Italian family restaurant. The gal that is usually running food or the waitress is so sweet I always feel like it's my grandma helping me get my food. We love their pizza! It was hilarious. I was shopping with my friend when we made plans to meet our other friends here. We had the phone on speaker as we were calling them to confirm and my friend had mistaken "La Pizza Rina" for "Bella Mia". I'm not sure how lol. But as we were passing by La Pizza Rina, I was like "Isn't that the place we're going to?" She was certain she had heard "Bella Mia" so we decided to pull over and call them and it turned out that it was La Pizza Rina. Anyways, we weren't too hungry but being the food-lovers we are, we jumped at the chance to try a new place. I'm assuming they have only one type of crust (the menu does say you can chose between thin to thick and the waitress didn't ask which we wanted) and it was nice, thin style (like a handtoss) and with a great crunch. The pizza sauce was 'aight and the vegetarian medium we ordered ($16.49) was actually quite larger than anticipated. I'm so used to the vinyl sized 12 incher you get at Pizza Hut. At La Pizza Rina, I'd guesstimate it was around 16". More than enough food for my hungry friend and I. This might sound stupid to you readers but the vegetarian pizza was a little too wet for my taste. Probably because of the many cuts of tomato wheels and green pepper. I should've stuck with something a lot more simple and less moist/packed on, like spinach, shrooms and garlic. Please check their menu or call regarding which exact toppings go onto this pie. Disappointed with what I ordered, I did consider that their crust was good, their sauce is okay but what lacked in taste made up in size. Inside the restaurant, they tout "New York Style Italian Deli". Honestly, it's not quite that but considering that there not much choices in Honolulu, this place will do. The food is ok, but for the money, not much of a value. The best deal is the super subs, a tad under $10, it's filled with generous portions of deli meat and they give a pretty good dipping sauce to boot. The bread is baked fresh and pretty good quality. The combo pizza is filled to the brim with meat, cheese and various veggies. Pretty close to being a Chicago style pizza pie. Pretty good quality pizza, not too greesy, but for $22 for a large size, is it really twice as good as a Costco pizza for $10? In the past, business was great and it's just about impossible for them to answer the phone, now it's more normal. For phone orders, expect about 20 minutes wait. Ok so from my last review you can already see I was not a happy customer. So today we called to ask if they deliver, the woman said no so as I was saying give me a second so I could ask if we wanted to pick it up instead...she literally had the nerve to hang up the phone on me! This is what we ate: Small Pep and mushroom pizza ($12.50) - Tasted like something I could make at home. The pizza had an overwhelming taste of oregano, which really turned me off. Cheese was barely melted and the middle of the pizza was soggy. You'll never hear me say this again, but I think they put too much cheese! Came here twice in one week. They weren't busy when we went so we were able to get seated right away. Service was kinda slow, not all the tables were cleaned. It took a while for the waitress to take our orders(There is only one waitress there). We were served water and if you want soda you need to go to their fridge to get it yourself. We ordered the garlic and mushroom pizza the first time we went and the second time we ordered the Spaghetti with meatballs. The pizza was pretty good better than pizza hut and papa johns but I still think boston's pizza is better. The crust was very thin and loaded with tons of garlic. Too bad I was still hungry after eating it even though it was a large. The spaghetti with meatball on the other hand was not that great. The meatball was homemade but it was as hard as a rock and the meat sauce was watery and tasted like it came from the can/jar. Since i love spaghetti with lots of garlic bread, and most pasta restaurants only give you like 2 slices, I also ordered extra garlic bread! But, little did i know that it already comes with 1/2 a loaf of garlic bread!! So, I definitely had enough, which was AWESOME! The side order of bread was 1 whole loaf! WoW now that was a good "pizza pie" I moved to Hawaii from the Midwest. Ahhh paradise is beautiful however the menu isn't working for me. The place has a nice Italian theme throughout very clean and that pizza parlor aroma happening. I placed my order to go and they offered up some water while I waited for my pie. I ordered a large combination on a medium hand tossed crust. Took about 15 mins and I was on my way. OMG talk about flash backs.. honestly it tasted just like it came from my favorite hometown pizzeria. (Derangos on Washington Ave Racine Wisconsin) mama mia that's anice apizza pie! Started with an order of garlic cheese bread. Nice soft, crispy bread, tons of cheese, and a mild amount of garlic. They give a lot, so it's worth the price! Moved on to the La Pizza Rina super sub. Same great bread with a tasty mix of meats on the inside. All in all a great sandwich. The 6-inch portion is actually pretty formidable, so don't let your stomach get the best of you when you order. I wanted to give 4 stars, but the service just wasn't there. I have a personal policy to take things with a grain of salt when dealing with old Asian ladies, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. Got seated at 1:55. Server starts by reminding me that they close at 2:30 and asks if we were ready to order. I told her I needed more time, so I literally got about 30 additional seconds. I scrambled and (somehow) managed to get in what turned out to be a great order. I stuffed my face til satisfaction, and received the check right on cue (no surprise there). Server grabbed the bill as soon I finished signing and even grabbed my hand while reaching for my cup AS I was putting out back down on the table. I get it... nobody wants to work late. Once again one of our awesome workers bought a pizza from La Pizza Rina and oh boy what a treat!! I get a slice nice and hot and zoom, its gone! Always fresh, tasty ingredients that just perfectly match the sauce...Pizza dough is perfect amount of chewiness, the cheese is just the right amount (and not that cheap tasteless cheese I get from other places).. I've never had a bad slice here and I doubt I ever will! They know what they are doing and I hope they never change.. Visiting La Pizza Rina, they call it a hole in the wall, but it just feels tight because of how many tables they try to squeeze into the place. Circle tables come to mind in these instances, since you can fit more people, and pizza is, well, just a circle anyway, right? I decided to go today and had many interesting characters, like a girl who comes in with a giant baby-stroller because obviously she wants pizza in as small a space as she can, right? A man blocking the entrance, and people asking, "Are you waiting for a table?" "Oh oh, ha-ha, no, it's okay." That's clarity for you. Finally, sitting so close to other people has not made me feel weird until an old man stood up and farted in my face as I ate a pizza, that definitely made my day complete! Well back to the restaurant, I mixed two recommendations for my meal. Small Antipasto- 3-stars- I won't attempt to butcher the names of the meats I ate, either salami or pepperoni. There were delicious slices of pork rolled with a slice of mozzarella cheese. Medium sized chunks of tomato and cucumber rounded this out with a bed of lettuce. There was one piece of cauliflower, two rings of fresh onion, and two tasty green olives. On the side, I had a slice of crunchy bread (oh what is the name of it again...). Oddly, it seems the sauce either quickly trickled to the bottom or never touched the rest of the salad. The dressing was like a sort of Italian dressing, not with a lot of spices and other little ingredients, but just pure and simple. None of the ingredients actually struck me, the simplicity reminded me of eating at my mom's old Italian Fast-Food restaurant where they served a similar salad. I definitely missed out on the amazing salad here. 8" Mini Combination Pizza- 3-stars- On a pizza this size, the pepperoni slice was a little big, so each time you bit into it--if you didn't cut it--you basically take away a quarter of the toppings. You also have bell-peppers, olives, mushroom, and sausage. The crust was soft and chewy. Thoughts of DiGiorno came to mind as I ate. Sometimes I look at grocery stores at prices of pizza there compared to the prices of pizzas at parlors. It's definitely gotta be an amazing piece of pie to beat a frozen pizza at over half the price. Atmosphere- As I said, some people call it a hole in the wall. It is definitely tight, but not uncomfortable, unless old people are farting and giant strollers come in. There isn't much in terms of decorations or heart in the place. Service- I arrived with just one single table open, as I was alone, I took it, even though it was still dirty. Eventually, the table was cleaned, just on the side I wasn't sitting on, not the side I was on. Food arrived in good time after ordering, since I knew the salad would be easier to make than the pizza. Yes, I think ahead when I order. After finishing my meal is when I found out about the $15 minimum order, which honestly, I would have hit if I knew about it ahead of time, but at the end of my meal, it was a bit bitter. Thankfully, that was all the cash I had, well enough for a tip, too. Conclusion- This is definitely nostalgia for me, when I used to sit at my mom's restaurant serving fast-food style pizzas, pastas, and salads. I've actually helped make these salads and pizzas before. I've since moved on to enjoying varieties of ingredients, flavor explosions and surprises. I was hoping to find it here. I came here on a whim with my son and my friend last week because we were starving after shopping all day. I've had their sandwiches before and it was really good so I figured I should try out their other menu options. We came in and found a table and started looking over the menu. I saw they had baked spaghetti and you can add meatballs for an additional cost. Winner! I ordered that. My son ordered the small pizza with pepperoni and bacon. My friend ordered the small pizza with tomato, spinach, and garlic. We also ordered cheesy bread as an appetizer. Cheesy bread was yummy! So much cheese! Baked spaghetti came out boiling which was very exciting but unfortunately it was so greasy! It was also a bit on the bland side. My son didn't realize that when he ordered the bacon on the pizza that it was Canadian bacon. He doesn't like Canadian bacon and was sad about it. Definitely a lesson learned but I don't fully blame him because he said he wanted bacon on his pizza... Our server should have made sure that he understood it was Canadian and not regular bacon. My friends pizza was good too but also kinda bland. During our stay in Waikiki, we wanted pizza, but where??? We read the reviews of the places here on Yelp and decided to try La Pizza Rina! We wanted to support the Vietnamese pizza makers of the world. We called an ordered a medium pepperoni and mushroom. They said it would take 15 minutes. Wow...that's pretty fast. We got in our rental car and found the place and brought the pizza back to our hotel. It was very good. However, I agree with Ruth D. that their pepperoni is quite spicy. I don't eat too much spicy food because I break out in a cold sweat. Even though it didn't seem to hot, I started sweating a lot, so the pepperoni is definitely spicy, but good. The pizza had a medium thickness in crust and the sauce was very tasty. The pizza wasn't too cheesy which I like and had a crispy (not soggy) bottom which I also like. After 3 years off island I came back to try the lasagna with meatballs. When I got home and opened my lasagna container I was shocked to see a small piece of lasagna and 2 small meatballs ! I personally get the super sub with extra dressing on the side cuz it all just melts in your mouth. When I'm feeling fancy I will get a pizza with garlic and Italian sausage and a salad for my family (it's couple notches up from your regular pizza place). I honestly think their bread is the secret ingredient. It's just really good stuff like they sprinkle magic into the dough lol. The customer service is hit or miss.
