I was craving ice cream in the area and saw that cookie bar creamery had a good amount of flavors that sounded appetizing to me. I only got two flavors, but my favorite was the banana Oreo. I was skeptical as banana flavored items tend to have an artificial taste, but this one was so fresh! It wasn't overly sweet either, which tends to be the norm for other ice cream places. The interior of this store is very "bougie"! I like the all white, marble aesthetics of this place. The workers seem to be very relaxed and chill as well. Went to grab some cookies and ending up buying their cheese fries as well, which was insanely piping hot and delicious. Their cookies were really chewy yet perfect amount of crunch texture. It was too overly sweet which I enjoyed the most. I really liked the one w cranberries and chocolate. They sell other options like hamburgers and food typa snacks. This spot is small but cute and clean We were welcomed right away, we ended up ordering a western burger, classic deluxe with bacon, garlic fries, regular fries and also tater tots with cheese and bacon. The deluxe burger, classic burger, and chicken sandwich were all decent quality and tasty with a good amount of toppings, very nice meat, and a mediocre squishy bun. We stopped by Lana's for dessert. You can sample up to two flavors. We sampled the black sesame and ube flavors and decided on ube. My boyfriend and I thought that the single size was more than enough ice cream for us to share. We didn't know that you can split two flavors in your cup/cone. Immediately when I walked in, I fell in love with the place. It's clean and has great food. The colors are minimalist modern and I'm a fan. Lana's might be primarily an ice cream shop, but don't let the appearance fool you. They also serve burgers and fries. Let me tell you this is probably one of the best burgers I've had in the Bay Area. That's saying a lot because I'm a big burger connoisseur. These are not your normal burgers or thick patties. These are smashed burgers where they're thinner with a charred crust. If you've never had one you need to try it out. It has tons of flavor from the outside crust but still has the juiciness inside. Everything made to order and fresh in about 15min. The burgers were well seasoned and the sauce is delicious. This is seriously a hidden gem for burgers because there's not a lot of places in the Bay Area that serves 2 smashed patties. It's more of a LA thing. Curly fries were hot and crispy. My own gripe is a little less salt on everything. Other than that this place is amazing. Maybe I'll try the ice cream next time as well. Staff was chill and friendly. This is a neat small ice cream shop that also serves burgers and fries! The store front looks like an ice cream shop but once you enter they have burgers and fries on the meal. It feels like an elegant burger and shakes place. I ordered a banana Oreo ice cream sundae and a single scoop ube. The ube ice cream was my favorite. It tasted so fresh and I love the texture. The banana ores sundae was great with almonds and chocolate sprinkle. I would definitely come back. The server was generous with the scoop and the service for ice cream was quick! Deluxe Burger was smashy excellence and was similarly impressed with the service. Burger review here and I'll start with the food. Coming from LA we are big smash burger fans and can be quite picky. But Lana's deluxe burger hit all the right notes for me. The patties were thin enough to pick up the right amount of crispy on the edges and were spiced very well. The sauce was the right amount of drippy and was sweet and tangy in a way that complimented the pickles and tomatoes and really stood this burger out for me amongst the crowded smash burger market. I've been thinking about that sauce taste since last night and will definitely be back for another. Now, we did have some items that were forgotten when I picked up my wife's order. They discovered it from their end first and called us right away, but by that point I had already returned home. So instead, the manager Jen offered to deliver these to our house. An old favorite ice cream spot, now with smash burgers a new name. How is this place so underhyped? If you think a good burger has to be thick, cooked medium and piled high with interesting toppings-- you're wrong. Come here and order a Classic double smash: two crisped patties, two slices of cheese, mustard, ketchup, pickle on griddle toasted potato roll with no B.S. and nothing to hide behind. With its distinct lack of dressing, the Classic is all about being a good burger: good beef, good cheese, good bun, cooked right, and balanced with just enough condiments. No, there's no picture of the Classic with this review, but go and get it (and a side of regular fries). It's the best thing on the menu. Follow up with ice cream: there are no bad options for ice cream here. This was our first trip back after Cookiebar rebranded to Lana's so we tried to get a wide sample of the menu. In addition to the Classic, we ordered a Deluxe, a Fried Chicken Sandwich, a side of fries, and closed out with a range of ice creams. The ice creams remain unchanged and amazing, so the rest of this review is about the new savory hot food. Of the two smash burgers the classic was the winner. The deluxe is a dressed up classic where you get veggies and have the mustard and ketchup replaced with spread (chipotle aioli I think). While this might sound like a good idea, these changes ended up as distractions. The fried chicken sandwich was solid, but not a standout among many good fried chicken sandwiches in the area. Do note that the burgers are on the small side, so know this is going to be a quality over quantity situation. That said, despite their size, the burgers pack a punch. The buns are toasted the griddle with a bit of the beef fat and maybe butter. The sandwich on the whole becomes rich and flavorful (the high-end beef here is the only way this works without things turning greasy and heavy). Finally, a big surprise was the quality of the fries. These were the best fries we've had in a long time. Trueburger's fries were the best for years, but they've hit a inconsistent patch. Lana's now has the best fries. Get fries with that. read more
