Excellent brunch! Eggs Benedict was simple but each component was excellent...Hollandaise sauce was home made and well made! The eggs were moist and perfectly made not dry and not too runny. Biscuits were easy to knife through. Potatoes were well roasted and salad was well seasoned and light. Desserts were Pandan Coconut Cake was light and Basque Cheesecake was better than any Basque restaurant! Will be back despite long lines! read more

Happened past here on our way to Union Square and almost walked past! It doesn't look much from outside but step in and be amazed! They have a broad, interesting breakfast menu. The service was outstanding and the food was beautifully presented and tasty. The owner came to check on us and was gracious and welcoming. We plan to come back for the Happy Hour and to sample the evening Thai menu! Loved the little details, like the cloth napkins and the flower decorations on the meals! read more

I found this little gem by browsing Yelp. It was the best meal we had while in SF and are talking about driving back in the city from the bay to try the dinner and try the breakfast again. I started with an almond milk latte that was delicious and had a beautiful leaf design in the milk. The size of the avocado toast is hard to show in a picture. It was as delicious as it was big! I'm not a big fan of steak but I had multiple bites of my boyfriends steak and eggs! The flavor of the steak was incredible and it was cooked perfectly! The highlight of this amazing meal was the clam chowder! If clam chowder is on a menu I always order it because I'm always looking for a good clam chowder. I have ordered many bowls in my lifetime at restaurants up and down the west coast. This was by far the best bowl of clam chowder that I have had so far in my lifetime!!!! It was also a great atmosphere. We sat outside and they moved around tables to accommodate us. We had a nice chat with the mother of the owners who was helping out making sure everything ran smoothly. This restaurant is the whole package! Family run, great food, great service, worth the price!!! I can't wait to go back to try their dinner! read more

Went here when I went to visit San Francisco! They have a GREAT variety of menu items for brunch! They have almost every tasty thing you can want for breakfast. From burgers to eggs to waffles to frittatas! This place has it all! My family and I went and we all got different things. They are very accommodating! I got the yogurt with fruit on top and it was decorated so nicely. It was a nice sized place that does well. I really liked the vibes here! Definitely will want to check it out again to order some other things off the menu! read more

Upscale brunch place. You enter and forget you're near the TL. It looks like a fancy restaurant inside a nice hotel. The whole ambiance is lovely. The chairs, color of the walls, tables are all carefully picked and well-maintained. We ordered: *French toast: good. The crushed cashews and use of Reese's puffs was an interesting enhancement to the usual french toast. *Sweet Waffle: good. The nutella, fruits, and ice cream were nice (we chose Thai tea). I thought the use of the strawberry syrup cheapened how it looked and tasted. Didn't think it was necessary. *Smoked Salmon Benedict: wow. This was so yummy. Everything together was perfect. *Lapisara Burger with house salad: This was amazing. By far, the best thing we ordered. I don't know what they put into their house salad but this was delicious. It reminded me a bit of the House of Prime Rib salad. It was so simple yet amazing. The burger was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The flavors were incredible. I've been wanting to go back to get this dish in particular. They have a sink area outside the restrooms to wash hands and it was very nice and clean. I appreciate this as I don't have to go into the restroom to wash my kids or my own hands but can just quick wash and go. The service was not the most attentive but they were friendly. The prices are high for brunch but it is a worthwhile experience once in a while. Coming back to get that Lapisara Burger again soon. That alone is worth the trip back. read more

On a trip for my birthday walking around for a cute place to eat. Playing a game of "which way to then left or right" and legit stumbled here. What a treat! Delicious food with a unique flair and nice drinks comparable pricing. In town for my birthday and the owners mother came by to check on our meal and explained the meaning of the restaurant. It started one year ago with a group of 4 friends. Represented on their logo with 4 elephants. They sang happy birthday to me along with a desert. And a special little gift. Beyond sweet ladies, atmosphere and food you'll want to savor! Will most definitely come back. Thanks for making my trip extra sweet! read more

Only went here for dinner- portions were huge but were nothing spectacular. Service was prompt and didn't rush us or anything like that. I kind of wish we had gone there for brunch, as that seems like the better part of the place. Anyway, I just had the papaya salad with prawns, which was solid but I was still pretty hungry. My wife had the pad thai, which she enjoyed. Her friends had the seafood curry, which looked really good and in retrospect I should have gotten that instead. Overall a solid thai place, though in a city packed with options, it needed that extra oomph to get it to 5 stars. read more

French Toast is GOOD! Also try their Thai sausage, if you're familiar with thai food, not the basic Thai food but something the next step up, you'll like the Thai sausage! Inside has a nice decor they have a nice presentation with there platters. This is a great brunch spot for the Tender Knob you can't go wrong here! I selected Lapisara for brunch because it is a short walk from the Curran Theater and 3 of our party were going to a matinee there afterwards. I was impressed with the friendly, attentive, and efficient service at this small restaurant with a varied brunch/lunch menu. We arrived at 10:15am and could have been seated immediately had all of our party been there. The restaurant is so popular for Sunday brunch that they only seat you once everyone has arrived. Our gracious hostess checked in with us frequently to see how soon the rest of our party would arrive. She reassured us that despite the size of our party (7) a table would be ready when we needed it. Sure enough, it was. By the time we were seated at 10:35am, there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. I had the blueberry pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed them. The waffles and fried chicken were also a hit. If you are noise averse, be aware that once the restaurant is full, it can be quite noisy. On our way out, our hostess suggested we come back for a Thai dinner one evening. I plan to do so. read more

To be honest, I happened to try this place because I was looking for a nice brunch spot and Heist next door was packed. What a happy accident! Came here on a Sunday afternoon at noon and the wait was pretty long already. Ended up having up to wait around 35 minutes even though the restaurant had told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait so just be prepared for an underestimated wait time. Food is alright- nothing is super memorable or blows you away. Price isn't that bad either for some of their dishes while others can be a bit more pricey (but not much compared to other brunch places around SF). The food is "Thai inspired" but it doesn't really come across in most of their dishes. I had gotten avocado toast and it was just a basic piece of buttered toast with a huge helping of avocado and poached egg on top. Freshly squeezed orange juice is good but be prepared to pay $5 for a small cup of it. The decor inside is really cute and it's nice and brightly lit inside! Reminds me of Tiffany & Co with the baby blue walls. Wait times for the food also are a bit long so would mostly recommend this place if you've got plenty of time and are just looking for a place with a good atmosphere for catching up with friends. read more

Went here this morning for brunch - service at the door was friendly and fairly quick - we only had to wait about twenty minutes for a table. I ordered the fried chicken eggs benedict, which came with fried breakfast potatoes, while my girlfriend ordered the Florentine benedict, topped with tomato and avocado. The fried chicken was very delicately fried, and had a delicious and deep savory flavor. My only complaint was that after eating one of the two servings, I was nearly full due to the richness of the chicken and hollandaise. If you order this dish, I'd advise you eat it quickly, as the chicken in the second serving got pretty soggy by the time I finished the first. read more

My husband and I stumbled into this place during our time in SF. The breakfast was delicious. I was super excited that they had a tray of teas to choose from. My husband enjoyed his coffee and loved the fact that they had multiple milk options. I got the meat lovers omelet which was full of bacon, ham, and sausage. The potatoes consisted of sweet, purple, and yellow potatoes, so good. My husband got the steak and eggs. He highly enjoyed it and they got the temperature perfectly to his liking. I would defiantly recommend this place for breakfast. The lunch menu also looked very good but sadly we needed to head to the airport so we couldn't come back. read more

Beautiful family owned Thai fusion place in lower nob hill. Love the interior design- very modern and elegant with plenty of natural lighting. Major props to the interior designer. Perfect place for brunch with friends and dates. Food here is really good as well. Been here for brunch a couple of times. Their fried chicken is some of the best I've ever had- wish I can order it separately without the waffle. They have some interesting thai fusion dishes as well. Union Square general area's best casual dining site. Locals already know that, and it is so worth a short wait for anyone visiting San Francisco. Parking is sketchy but the food is outstanding and worth the extra effort in finding a place to put your car. Brunch and dinner (with lots of options that qualify as lunch) menus' have something for everyone. Service is prompt and friendly. And the coffee menu is a Big Wow. read more

We are new guest-forward brunch and dinner restaurant located just outside of Union Square at Post and Jones. We operate as a dual-concept restaurant, providing fusion brunch and new-age Thai flavors for dinner -- Monday through Sunday seven days a week.

When we put our names on the waitlist it said it would only be a 10 minute wait but we ended up waiting closer to 30-45. We were lucky we came early, by the time we left wait time was 2+ hours. The menu looks amazing and has plenty of clearly labelled vegan options. When looking at the menu posted on the outside window we planned to order the vegan coconut crepe dessert, but after being seated we discovered the window menu was slightly out of date and they didn't offer that dessert anymore. One odd thing when we sat down- the table was set up with prefilled water glasses, in addition to a full water pitcher. We were both really thrown off for some reason by the glasses already being full, but we did confirm with a waitress that it was intentionally part of the table prep. I ended up ordering the drunken mama with fried oyster mushrooms, which was amazing. Flavors and textures of everything were great and I especially loved the super crispy oyster mushrooms. While I would love to come back to try other menu items I am not sure the food is worth the 3 hours that some people are waiting, it's definitely really good but not THAT good.

The pieces of duck were not exceptionally fatty, which was nice. There were only 2 pieces of fried okra, while tasty, I wish there were more. 3.5/5 rating. Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk - Probably the best thing we ordered. Since the fried rice is cooked in beef tallow, it's extremely flavorful and almost caramelized crunchy, giving pieces of texture throughout. It's like that mouthfeel of when you cook rice in a cast iron and have that nice crisp on the bottom, except rather than one large sheet, it's a bunch of little ones speckled throughout the rice. The beef was tender and melted in your mouth. Perfect with the creamy egg yolk and bits of fried garlic. The slivered green onions also brightened the dish. Would highly recommend this dish and if I came back, this would be the thing I order every time. 5/5 rating. Burnt Butter Kaya Toast with Coconut Ice Cream - Thick piece of toast with caramelized sugar on both sides, topped with a pandan?? sauce and coconut ice cream. Surprisingly light and refreshing. The flavors are subtle and nothing really smacks you in the face. Once in the city we simply walk throughout Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and into North Beach. The Buena Vista is an iconic spot dating back to the mid 1800's. It's great to pop in, have an Irish coffee, and enjoy the vibe. We got seated immediately at the bar. Service was great and everyone was enjoying futbol. San Francisco looks amazing! I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars but I can't because of my racist experience. But if it was solely based on the friendly grandmother hostess and the food I would because it was delicious as the reviews and pictures definitely do the eatery justice. HOWEVER, they clearly aren't welcoming of Black customers. First, they didn't voluntarily check on our table at no point during our dining experience...not once. For example, even though me and another person ordered bottomless mimosas, they only gave us a single pitcher throughout our entire meal and never even asked if we wanted a refill. Second, since no one was interested in voluntarily checking on our table, I had to summon the staff, which was met with whispers, smiles, pointing, and laughter amongst the staff each time. Please mind you that a party of three of us spent $130 on breakfast plus a 25% tip...which I'm sure surprised them since "Black people don't tip." Well, in addition to my tip, I made sure to leave a note letting them know that I didn't appreciate the treatment and that I hope that it wasn't because of my Blackness...or even worse, because of my clearly visible sexual orientation as my gayness was on full display as its San Fran Pride weekend. Well regardless of what their bias was rooted in, its ridiculous as this restaurant is Asian-owned, and they themselves should know first hand what it feels like to be treated like crap as a community color just because of the color of your skin. As a Black woman, this type of treatment is common among Asians at the beauty supply store, takeout restaurant, and I've even had Asian friends say that they aren't allowed to date Black people....all the while pandering to white people. Well I don't know what type of racist ideologies they're teaching in Asia before migration to the United States, but the Trump administration should show you that those same white people view you just the same as black, brown, and yellow folks. So next time a Black person helps to keep your small minority-owned business in business, try to keep that in mind do better and be better. And just so that its clearly that I'm not making this racist encounter up on my mind, one of the establishment's only kind waitresses apologized before we left. read more

We came into The City for our annual weekend just before the start of the holidays. As part of our time, we scouted out affordable, quality dining options, and Lapisara came up in our search, so we made dinner reservations. The menu was creative and as mentioned, affordable (two people can leave with under $100 for dinner). But I'm afraid that's where the "pros" ended. 1. In winter, despite making reservations, insist on being seated as far from the front door as possible! It's freezing!! And it doesn't help that the restaurant also does not seem to want to turn on any heat inside (it was chilly throughout our stay!) 2. At two points, it seemed that perhaps our dishes were forgotten. We were patient, and eventually (20 minutes later, for dessert, for example), they arrived. 3. The food quality and taste were not bad at all! But equally so, I don't understand the hype behind this restaurant. Maybe we didn't order either of their better dishes? I'm not sure. Again, it was not bad! But I would call it mediocre. I'm not sure that we will return. We live in the North Bay, so we're in The City a lot. But I doubt we will venture over to Lapisara again. Should you flat-out avoid this place? No! Should you heed the advice given? I'd recommend it, but the choice is yours. read more

During our trip to SF, my family and I decided to visit this restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I highly recommend arriving early to avoid any potential wait times. Fortunately, we did so and were seated right away. The service throughout our meal was exceptional, with the staff being friendly, welcoming, and always accommodating. For my order, I opted for a coffee with almond milk, and I also tried their garden omelette with a substitution of egg whites and an addition of sausage inside the omlette. The highlight of the dish was the perfectly seasoned and incredibly crispy yet tender potatoes. Each bite was a burst of flavors as the potatoes simply melted in your mouth. Although it may sound like a simple breakfast, it exceeded my expectations, thanks to those amazing potatoes! I must insist that you try their French toast; it was the star of our meal. My wife had the Holy Chili Bomb Basil Omelette, and it was a standout. If you're looking for a bottomless brunch spot come to Lapisara!! They have great food, drink, and coffee/latte options with a cute outdoor seating area. We came for brunch on a Sunday morning and while we couldn't make a reservation, we were able to get a table for two outside without a wait. The waiters were really friendly and gave our dog a water bowl too. The food is Thai fusion, so they had dishes like scrambles, hashes, sandwiches along with fried rice and noodles. I loved the Fried Rice with Fried chicken dish I got, it was so flavorful and I had lots of leftovers. One of their popular dishes was the Chicken and Waffles which was also delicious- the waffle was sweet and crispy and went so well with the flavorful chicken. I would love to come back here, their dinner menu looked delicious and they had a lot of latte drinks I saw other tables get. Highly recommend Lapisara!! read more
