I came here for brunch a few months ago and enjoyed it very much. If you ask how long the wait is, I feel like they consistently tell you 15 minutes regardless of how many people are in line. There's not a lot of room to wait inside so on the rainy day we were there we had to squish in. We didn't mind the wait because we had a hard time deciding what to order because everything looked so good. We balanced something hardy with the parfait which was lite. The parfait actually caught us by surprise. The fruit is so fresh and and whole thing had tasty surprises. It was good to feel full but not overly stuffed after brunch. These reviews are far from accurate. We ordered the house appetizer and it came out cold. Not even room temperature cold, everything was cold. Instead of making us a new one, they threw it in the microwave and sent it back to us. They couldn't even replace the chicken we took a bite of. Then we were forced to pay for this crap. Then you couldn't even chew the microwaved calamari. Instead of making it right, we got completely ignored the rest of the night. 2nd the green curry was served so spicy it burned your entire mouth, esophagus and stomach, it wasn't even edible. I believe they did that to punish us for sending cold food back. I would have sent that back too, but i was never asked how it was. We couldn't get water let alone anything else. 3rd, the crème Brûlée had a soggy top with no crunch. You couldn't pay me to come back here. Service is horrible, food is horrible. I don't often feel like a place is worth waiting on line for - in the rain, no less - but I had a feeling about Lapisara. I love it when I'm right! The woman managing the wait list and seating everyone (I think she is the owner) was on top of things, and they kept the tables moving in between customers, although while we were there, we never felt rushed. We weren't waiting overly long, especially given we had no reservations for a Saturday brunch. The interior was very pretty, with big windows letting in lots of light, even on a cloudy day. The chairs are upholstered and comfy. Everything has nice clean lines, but still feels warm, a feeling that the owner also conveys. When we were seated she urged us not to miss her strawberry jam, that she makes herself. I wasn't wowed by the jam, and yes I feel kind of guilty and ungrateful about it. But I have the highest praise for the french toast I ordered, which are the kind of decadent indulgence that brunch was made for. Coated in crushed cashews and Reese's cereal puffs, it was crunchy and nutty and just ALL THAT. I rarely feel too bad about my partner's peanut allergy, because it isn't usually a problem, but at this one meal, it was a tragedy of monumental proportions. We don't generally go to San Francisco very often, but this place is a great reason to visit more often. Not that you needed one - but now you have one. read more

I can't get enough of this place! The line out the door is well worth the wait. This has quickly become my go-to brunch spot. My personal favorite thing is their fried chicken eggs Benedict. I tried the same thing at Brenda's soul food (1000+ reviews on yelp) and didn't even hold a candle to Lapisara. The fried chicken is so crispy, and juicy and the hollandaise sauce doesn't make it soggy. Their breakfast potatoes are so good, usually I don't even bother eating the side potatoes, but these are amazing. Their service is excellent and waitstaff is extremely friendly. Their Thai iced tea is so yummy, you can't pass it up. You can get more traditional breakfast dishes, or you can try some of their Thai-inspired dishes that make for a zesty spin on American breakfast and brunch dishes. I have not been here for anything on their lunch or dinner menu, but I can definitely recommend them for their brunch menu. read more

Found this place within walking distance from our hotel. We went in around 9am on a Thursday morning with no wait. The restaurant is decorated simply and the service is prompt. We decided to try the Thai tea latte, WOW. So wonderfully delicious. I decided to have the fried chicken benedict. It was flavorful and chicken was juicy. We were here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was gasp, not crowded at all. No complaints though, given that this was a highly rated restaurant on Yelp and Google. Decor is airy, bright, modern and lovely. We had the fried chicken benedict with potatoes $16 and fried chicken sandwich with fries $17. Portions were massive for the price. The fried chicken is my favourite sort - covered with seasoned crispy fried flour on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. I was really disappointed by Lapisara, the menu looked so good! We arrived fairly early on a Sunday morning and seated right away. We were pretty excited to be seated as it was Easter and we weren't sure what type of wait we were up against. Unfortunately this is where our waiting actually began. After being seated it took approximately 15 minutes before anyone even came back to greet us or even give us water. After waiting , we placed our order for coffee and two salads. Again we had to wait about 15 minutes before we even got our coffee. I literately had to stare down the wait staff and ask for water (the first time someone came to talk to us) and then to get our coffee 15 mins later. About 30 minutes after we got our coffee, we noticed people who sat down after us were getting their food before us. Once again we had to ask what was going on. Finally our food came and the salad was tasty (only redeeming quality of our visit). However , the food didn't even come as described on the menu. The salad was supposed to be served with sourdough toast and we didn't even get that. We didn't bother asking, once we finished our salads, we promptly asked for the checks and got our ASAP. I'm not sure why the service was so poor, the staff was friendly enough otherwise. I won't come back nor recommend to others. read more

Looking for a brunch place on the weekend near Union Square. There are a lot of them. We walked around, avoiding the longer lines - Lapisara is a thai place at night, but is slightly bigger than the other good brunch places in the area. My partner and I only waited about fifteen minutes, which isn't too bad. There is a bar inside where you can order coffee while you wait. So, how did brunch fare? I ordered a dungeness crab and asparagus omelette. It was tasty, but needed a little kick. All the ingredients were a little bland. The breakfast potatoes were mixed with red and green bell peppers and the potatoes were nicely crisped. Love this. The meal came with sourdough toast. It was nicely toasted on the outside and thick enough to be chewy, but - come on - this is San Francisco! I'd expect a sourdough with some character. This didn't have it. The staff were very proud of their home made strawberry preserves, pointing them out to every table as they sat down. The preserves were good, but not great. They were not sweet enough to hit the right note. read more

This place was an instant favorite in our trip to San Francisco. The restaurant was right around the corner from where we were staying and if it wasn't for us trying to find new yummy places every day, I would've been perfectly fine going back twice or three times during our 5 day vacation. Thinking back, this was probably one of my favorite meals in San Fran and I wish I could back if it wasn't for the six hour flight. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries - hey, I was on vacation. It was a huge sandwich and the chicken was perfectly fried with great taste. The jalapeno slaw was tasty though it could've used a little more kick but perfect for someone who doesn't love spicy jalapenos. The sambal mayo was a tangy sweet sauce that had a little more flavor than regular mayo and brought the whole sandwich together. The fries were crispy and fresh and were a perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. I don't even remember (or care) what the other girls order because my sandwich was the best. Order the sandwich. The service was excellent, with the manager coming out midway through our meal to ensure we enjoyed everything and had gotten all that we ordered. She did point out the homemade jam on the table that we had overseen but I unfortunately did not get to try any on my sandwich. The restaurant is clean with lots of seating available but we went on a Wednesday morning so I'm sure this place gets busy for brunch on the weekends.
