All the ingredients are always fresh, and what makes a sandwich great, as well? It is the bread, fresh and soft! Perfect ratio of all ingredients and that is most definitely chicken pieces in the sandwich as well. The Garlic sauce is just perfect - not overly greasy or too garlic-y. Overhyped. I got the Chicken Broccoli Mushroom sandwich with the garlic sauce. The sandwich and the chicken were on the dry end, even with the garlic sauce. Broccoli pieces were hard. I wish the sandwich was more filled out considering the price; the entire thing is small, skinny, and skimpy. If you're craving a French/Vietnamese inspired sandwich, go to Banh Mi Che Cali instead (or even Lee's Sandwiches). The only pro is that it's walking distance from UCI. read more

We ordered the NY Liason and the Chicken Garlic. We used to love Le Diplomate Cafe but we aren't sure if it's under new management now. Either way, avoid ordering from here. Subway seems like a 5 star restaurant in comparison to this place. The chicken in the garlic chicken sandwich must have been days old bc it was so dry to the point of being inedible. For the pastrami sandwich, the 2 slices of pastrami (seriously, only 2 small pieces of pastrami were thrown in the sandwich - as shown in the pictures) had that rainbow borderline rotten color to it - that I didn't want to touch it. Also, the lettuce was wilted and just nothing, unfortunately was fresh. The mayonnaise was just randomly thrown in there as well and we don't want to find out if these sandwiches taste as bad as they look...but we are hungry so we do taste it and realize that no, it tastes even worse.... I'm so sad I have to write this review because I really love this place and I have been going here for years, but today I got my usual chicken garlic and I saw that there is mold in it! I honestly didn't notice a difference in taste, but I saw on some of the cheese that got stuck to the paper when I was eating it that it had bluish green flakes and when I opened up the sandwich, I saw more on the inside.. My friend had been raving about this place so much that I decided to grab their Happy Hour Garlic Chicken Sandwich ($5.99) even though I was getting dinner elsewhere too. The deal is pretty good with a drink and chips for a full meal, which I can see how it definitely appeals to the college kids at UCI. Even without the HH deal, the sandwiches are reasonably priced here. Unfortunately, the sandwich really fell short for me. It was dry and tasteless with just bread, chicken, and some melted mozzarella. It sounds like the garlic sauce is what makes the sandwiches here so great, but my sandwich barely had sauce. In addition, they charged for extra garlic sauce if you purchase the HH deal, so I opted out. Maybe if I had the garlic sauce, it would've saved this sandwich. Probably one of my favorite sandwich spots of all time! Le Dip is located in the University Town Center across the street from UC Irvine, so there's lot of parking available in the plaza. The spots are marked with time limits, however, so I'd be aware of them when picking your spot. Their garlic sauce is absolutely everything! Their chicken, mushroom, broccoli sandwich is my favorite and one of their most popular sandwiches. They're generous with their sauce and also their sandwich toppings, and the bread is soft and tasty. The store itself is small with one or two small tables inside, but there's lots of seating outdoors in the open area, so it's pretty easy to find a place to sit. My cousin took us here because it was his go-to place back in college. The star of the show is the creamy garlic sauce! We even got an extra side of it so we could dip our sandwiches. Hot chicken broccoli sandwich: This was my favorite of the two that we got because the broccoli balances out the richness of the sauce and meat. Cordon Bleu: I loved the pop of freshness of the tomato in this one. It was tasty but I'm glad we shared halves of each sandwich because the flavor got monotonous after a while. I needed hot sauce on this. I ate half a sandwich in total because based if we finished it all, we were going to experience a food coma. Tapatio and Sriracha are available on the side near the cashier. There's also a container of water but it tasted kind of funny. The sriracha was appreciated so it could cut through the fat/richness of the sandwiches. Overall, the sandwiches tasted great. Note: Do not get their coffee drinks. I got the garlic sauce which was bomb but in hindsight I feel ranch probably wouldn't been better. Other than that the sandwich was simple but oh so good. Perfectly crispy bread. The other one we got was one of the Vietnamese ones and this one was so phenomenal. All the ingredients taste so fresh like they just got some carrots from the garden or something lol.
