Safe to say I'm a regular here. I love the fact that the stuff comes on skewers and the cumin seasoning is spicy and compliments all the game meat they offer. I didn't know I would like lamb fried rice but now my life is empty without it. Definitely get this if you're checking the place out. Also the get the lamb and grilled in enoki mushroom with a small bowl of rice if you didn't get the fried rice earlier on. Glad this neighborhood restaurant survived the pandemic as their East Village location remain closed. Outdoor settings are 6 ft apart and the staff all wore masks. 3 of us arrived Friday after work around 6:15 pm and got a table right the way. We had the chicken wings, fried rice (egg, sausage, assorted veg), beef skewers, pork belly skewers, and 1lb of blue crabs and 1lb of shrimps (hot & spicy plus garlic flavors). Le Sia is amazing, and I'm so excited they've opened a location in Midtown! They're known for their seafood boils, but I thought the highlight was actually their excellent skewers. They have online ordering for take-out and delivery on their website (free delivery on orders $50+). I tried a bunch of skewers and a few other dishes here, and my favorites were: -Dough drop and assorted vegetable soup ($13.95) - thick soup with tomato, eggs, vegetables, and cooked dough (think the dumplings in chicken dumpling soup, but smaller and slightly scrambled). Delicious and comforting, perfect to hunker down at home with amidst the current chaos :/ -Pork trotters ($3.50) - extremely delicious pig feet, chewy and cartilaginous and amazing. I would honestly order extras of these to eat the next day. -King oyster mushroom skewer ($2 each) -Pork intestine skewers ($2 each) - crispy and fatty :) -Baked Chinese bread skewers ($2 each) - crispy seasoned mantou slices -Lamb skewers ($1.50 each) The crawfish ($16.99/lb) was also good but not as great as the skewers, but I think their seafood would also travel well. In order of what I liked: Garlic eggplant: maybe my favorite dish, it's an entire (half?) of an eggplant that had the garlic and chilis complement the eggplant very well Pork trotter: I'm not sure which version, but it's a big dish with small-sized pork meat and bell peppers. I never had trotter like this (usually they are served in much bigger pieces), but this was delicious. Mongolian beef: very thinly sliced and at first I thought bland, but the more I ate it, the more I tasted the flavoring. It comes sizzling on a hot plate, and you can get this as a spicy version, even if it doesn't say on the menu Skewers: We got lamb and pork belly - I think I liked the lamb more, it was a bit more flavorful, while the pork belly was a bit more thickly cut than I expected. Both were fine, but not must-dos Seafood hotpot: we got this medium spicy, which was fine but I'd be intrigued by it getting spicier. Review as of Jan 2020.. Pretty, pretty good food. I'm going to go out on a limb and say their best dishes aren't the crawfish or other boils but their SKEWERS. Of the ones I've tried, the best meat skewer was the one that is pork kidney interspersed with pieces of lamb so good that I am retroactively disappointed at all my other skewer experiences. Their grilled eggplant and grilled enoki are also great in how they cut them into a thin flat layer. This is how I want all my grilled eggplants and enoki to be going forward. They also have scallops / oysters / etc. baked in little foil containers which are delicious. We also had their shrimp boil which was good but it wasn't a category best like their skewers. Full bar service with signature Chinese food. They have "copper pot" lamb hotpot which is very traditional and authentic. In addition, they even serve grilled lamb testicles! So good! Came here with a friend on a Wednesday evening for dinner and was seated right away. We shared the Shrimp Seafood Boil with the Fried Chinese Breadsticks and Potato as add-ons. Delicious! I was so happy to see this place serves some pretty legit Beijing-nese Chinese food. And Skewers!!!!! Looked over the menu before heading here and liked the different variations in food thinking I'd try a more authentic Chinese cuisine for once. Boy I was not disappointed at all. I went with the fried dumplings, both chicken and vegetable, lamb kidney skewers and the sautéed chicken gizzards. All the selections had phenomenal flavor and the portions were just right. My favorite chinese restaurant ever. You have to get the lamb skewers! They put a generous amount of fat between the meat pieces, and the seasoning make it a glorious, melt in your mouth experience. I usually treat myself here on Fridays after a long week of work, so these meals make me feel like I'm on vacation. I also have to shout out the beef back straps, which are nice complement and have a really interesting texture and very chewy. The glass noodles and scallops are also another go to for me, amazing flavor that makes you wish you ordered more. But the real main event is the crawfish and head on shrimp for me, (my gf loves to add the crab as well). I don't know what is in the sauce, but it's combination of sweet/salt/spicy is next level. I'm incredibly sad they closed down their East Village location. Luckily, the food at this location is just as delicious, just a bit farther for me to get to. The interior is also more spacious with tables and chairs. The East Village location had a long communal table + bench and only a few booths. Their specialty is seafood boils, but I mainly come here for their skewers. I usually get the pork intestines, chicken gizzard, and beef tendon. My favorite is the pork intestines skewer. Even my friend who doesn't like intestines liked the ones here. They have two types of tendon skewers, listed as beef back straps and beef tendon. The regular beef tendons are softer, but usually even though are a hit or miss. Sometimes the tendon comes out really soft, but most of the time it's very chewy. I've tried their seafood boils once. It was delicious, but boils are too messy and I'm too lazy to peel all the shrimp to get it again. We added youtiao to the boil which made it easily the best part of the boil, especially when the youtiao is dipped in the seafood juices. They also recently started offering hotpot when outdoor dining opened for the first time. They had this weird rule when I went that you have to order hotpot to sit outside. I think it was to maximize the efficiency of their power outlets. If you want to sit outside, you have to order the DIY ingredients hotpot. If you order the pre-made hotpot you have to sit indoors. It was kind of annoying that we had to order hotpot when we only wanted skewers, but it did turn out to be delicious. read more

I've walked by Le Sia countless times since moving to Hell's Kitchen, but I finally tried it last week. The name translates to 'Happy Shrimp,' which is fitting since the restaurant specializes in Chinese-Cajun cuisine, particularly seafood boils. My friend and I ordered two pounds of shrimp and blue crab, along with supplements of Chinese breadstick, seaweed knots, and an accompanying free side of potato with over 2 lbs of seafood. Each platter could be customized for sauce and spice-level. I absolutely loved the umami-rich sauce in the boil, and in hindsight should've bought a bowl of rice just to soak up the flavors. The complimentary bibs were a necessary protection as we ate the crustaceans, though we opted not to use plastic gloves for more efficient crackdowns. The menu also boasts of skewers, grilled foil packs filled with seafood or meat, and traditional Chinese stir-fries. Ordering seafood in NYC is one of the easier ways to spend exorbitant amounts of cash at a restaurant, but we were pleasantly surprised at our bill. IDK why reviews are so great. This place was mediocre at best. I went exclusively to have the pork intestine soup. However, the server didn't understand and the QR code wasn't working for me. No offer to give me their password to connect to the internet. Fine, I tried the skewer instead. Can you say precooked and reheated? Each skewer was hot but not freshly cooked. The cumin seasons were good on the first couple of skewers but overwhelm after a while. The pork trotter had exactly the same seasoning making for a boring meal. No dipping sauces. My favorite seafood boil place is Le Sia. I first discovered it years ago near cooper street and st Marks, and the food was soo good. Le Sia is like an asiant twist on to seafood boils. Spicy is spicier and more aromatic. And if you are dining in it comes in a giant hot plate. They are very quick with taking your order and bringing you food so its great if you're hungry and need something fast. Le Sia basically combines a bunch of Asian food into one restaurant - hotpot, skewers, seafood boil, etc. I've only tried vegetarian items such as the skewers and fried rice, but I'd probably come back to try the hotpot since it looks very unique and there aren't a lot of hotpot places in midtown. As for the food that I ordered, the skewers all have a strong cumin flavor (corn, bun, enoki) and everything has the same seasoning. The fried rice was enormous and I ended up having leftovers for days. I ate across the street on a Friday night and it looked like people were really lining up for the restaurant. On the weekend for lunch, there were less people but still a ~30 minute wait. They offer to text you when the table is ready so you can walk around, and the people who were before us in line ended up not showing up. It was packed, but luckily a table was opening up so we decided to eat there. It was one of the tastiest Chinese meals I've had in years! This was so delicious that halfway through our meal we ordered more. 1 Lb Shrimp: we got this with garlic sauce. Fantastic! Messy to eat, but they give you bibs and gloves, so it works out. My one complaint is that the pork belly was a bit overcooked and chewy, but all the rest were outstanding. The vegetables were also great - spicy cucumbers, shishito style peppers, string beans in a fantastic sauce. The tripe is good (if you like tripe, which I do!).
