The workers were also extremely friendly and helpful. I will come back here every year just for one of these cookies. While consulting Google Maps, I was ecstatic to find this location not too far from where we had lunch plans. This location in NOHO is spacious, warm and inviting....and not just because of the cookies. Collectively, we ordered the two chip chocolate chip, chocolate chip with walnut, and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip. I absolutely loved the two chip chocolate chip. The weight of the cookie, not surprisingly, was due to the excessive amount of chocolate chips shoved into the center. The cookie was soft and moist, and quite delicious. My friend, who is somewhat of a "cookies with nuts" connoisseur, and had only tasty comments about the other cookies. And before you could say Quidditch, the chocolate chip walnut cookie disappeared. Of course, the cookies were literally and figuratively a sweet treat. Thank goodness we ordered an Americano to go along with our order. A true complement to the sweetness. Delicious cookies! We ordered the chocolate chips walnut original with along other cookies for others to try. We were surprised when we bit into it! It tasted fresh, chocolatey, gooey, not too sweet, crunchy, and crispy, on the outside. The walnuts added a nice texture. I can't believe I waited so long to try these cookies! On a random Saturday evening, I decided to finally try this Uber popular bakery & they did not disappoint! The line was long (took about 45 minutes until we reached the counter) but totally worth it as I cannot stop raving about these cookies. What can I say that hasn't been said already? One of the larger Levain locations, the NoHo branch provides the same pleasant cookie experience as the others, just in a more brightly lit and spacious location than the original, though the broom closet of a shopfront in the Upper West Side will always have a special place in my heart. The Levain staff are always more than happy to make your day positive, but I'd be too if I made buttery pastries all day long and had fresh cookie smell wafting through the air -- I consider it a bit of a patisserie relaxant. On this occasion, I went with the classic chocolate chip walnut, which never disappoints, and the new seasonal lemon cookie. Think lemon bar, but in cookie form instead. Not too overpowering, but just the right balance of sweet and tart. You really can't go wrong with Levain, so why even try. I did taste more flour than I expected on the outer parts of the OG chocolate chip cookie which wasn't the best so that's why it got 3/5. Also without it being a bit warm it wasn't the most spectacular. Not sure if they warm it on site upon request but couldn't warm it back at my hotel so didn't get that experience. Can you believe this was my first time visiting this bakery? I've tried their cookies before when people brought them to parties but I never went to the bakery myself. The place was so inviting and toasty on a cool and chilly day like today. There were so many cookie choices but I went with Chocolate chip Walnut cookie because I like nuts in my cookies. Really friendly service, and they have a variety other than just cookies. They also had stuffed brioche, muffins, fred's, and loaf cakes. Try their seasonal offerings, which right now ( May 2025) is a lemon chip cookie. Very long lines that go outside the building. The cookies are huge with so much chocolate chips. The cookie itself is a bit hard on the outside and slightly soft and chewy in the very center. It tasted lightly sweet and I enjoyed the rich chocolate chips. However my friend wished it was more sweeter as it is on the lighter side. I have been making a Levain cookie copycat recipe for years, and with rave reviews everytime I make them, but have never tried the real Levain cookies. This definitely had to be a stop during my business trip to NYC. I went here twice durng my visit. The first time as getting just one chocolate chip cookie for dessert after eating at Los Tacos No.1 next door. I bought the cookie back to the hotel, and had it with a glass of milk. The second visit was to get a few cookies to bring back home with me the morning of my return flight, so I didn't eat those cookies until the next day. Both times, there were no lines, so I was able to get what I want right away. The place was pretty quiet with maybe a few people eating their treats there. Overall, the cookies were good, but I didn't feel like they were way better than the ones I make using the copycat recipe. Personally, I like the ones I make more. Perhaps my expectations were too high because I have been hearing about Levain cookies for years, and finally got to try it. Buying the Levain cookies again almost 10 years from when I first tried it at the original location, I remember that they were big and delicious and this has not changed since then. I only tried the chocolate chip cookie in the past, but this time in additional to chocolate chip I also bought a few different ones to try - dark chocolate peanut butter chip, rocky road, and dark chocolate chip. The dark chocolate cookies were not as sweet at the regular chocolate chip cookie, and overall all were delicious. As it is a popular bakery, there is still a line for the cookies, but it moves fast and the staff are all friendly. It was raining earlier and I managed to get here by subway and glad that this is only at one stop exit and walking distance to the bakery. Their classic is the chocolate chip walnut cookie but I went during the fall months so they had their fall special available -- the fall chocolate chunk -- so I opted for that. It was soft in the middle but a bit too crisp on the outside for my taste. It might have been a bit better for me if it was warmed up or fresh out of the oven but that was not the case here. The place was clean so I wouldn't have a problem coming back and trying something else like a muffin or slice of cake.
