Levant Bistro (the bakery part has merged with the actual restaurant) is so special. My friend and I planned to meet here for Lebanese brunch on a gorgeous Saturday. It was such an unforgettable and refreshing experience. Chef Anita has such a vision. Every detail was well thought of, from the outdoor patio dining surrounded by olive bushes to the indoor wooden and oak touches with Fairouz playing overhead. What's even better is EVERY single dish is labelled clearly for allergy diners! AHHHH as a nut allergy girly this had me geekin. All the celiac diners can enjoy their dining experience without any triggering fears as well. I went with their famous Lebanese egg pie and my friend got the grilled salmon plate. We shared the ful mudammas, my fave dish. The gluten-free pita bread def changed my brain wiring. I don't enjoy gluten-free food, and I was drooling. The pita was pillow soft, like how do you do that? Magic, I tell you. The egg pie was SO special. Pillow soft as well and super filling. The flavors of every dish were legendary. Levant Bistro is charming, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely outstanding. From start to finish my experience was everything I could ask for. We arrived midday on a Sunday and we're promptly sat, having been given the option for patio or indoor. We chose the patio, and between the clematis, lantana, and olive trees it is a very lovely setting in which to enjoy a meal. We were promptly brought a bottle of cold water and glasses, and our beverage orders were taken. I had a honey lavender latte with oat milk, and my husband had Lebanese coffee (no milk no sugar.) my latte was fragrant, the perfect temperature, and just the right amount of sweet. The Lebanese coffee was smooth, floral without being perfume, and excellent. We started with the falafel and the batata harra. Both absolutely excellent. For our entrees we selected the shakshuka and the Lebanese egg pie. Both were also excellent. Everything was well cooked, well presented, flavorful without being overwhelmed by any component. We took home a baklava tart, because we simply did not have the ability to eat more at the table. It was tender, moist, not too sweet, the pistachio flavor coming through as nutty and grassy, seriously so good! And it's worth noting, this whole restaurant is gluten free. I would not have realised if I had not known ahead of time. The texture of the pita with the shakshuka was exactly what one would expect, as was the bread of the egg pie. The pastry of the tart was flakey and delicious. And having said all of that, the service is what puts it above and beyond. We had a Lebanese coffee and a honey lavender latte, and both were excellent. The coffee had that deep, traditional richness, while the latte was floral without crossing into overly sweet territory. One thing that's genuinely impressive is that the entire restaurant and bakery is dedicated gluten-free. We don't eat gluten-free ourselves, and if nobody had mentioned it, I never would have guessed. Nothing felt like a compromise, everything was just delicious. It's also pretty cool that people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities have a place where they can order anything on the menu without having to think twice, while everyone else still gets an exceptional meal. First time visiting this all gluten free restaurant & bakery for a birthday dinner. It's clean and spacious, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating with a small private parking lot. Service was a little slow, we had to remind them to get our drinks and desserts a few times. But overall we had a good experience, it's a great place to hang out and chill. The food was fantastic, we enjoyed everything we ordered. For appetizers we got the mezza sampler (Hummus, Baba Ghannoush, Falafel, Cheese Sambousek, Heirloom Tomatoes, Marinated Olives, pita). The pita bread was so good! We also really like the chicken sambousek, I wish they had beef too. The Fattoush salad was refreshing & super tasty, I really liked the pomegranate lemon dressing. For main entrees we enjoyed the Mediterranean Chicken Manoush (pizza). It was a good size, next time we will try the Merguez Sausage pizza. We also really like the Braised Short Ribs and the Mediterranean Halibut. Both dishes were tender & flavorful, just wish they were bigger. We really liked their fresh squeezed hibiscus lemonade and the fresh mint lemonade. Unfortunately the desserts were only ok, they were a little dry. Found this place on Yelp with rave reviews and decided to give it a go for our Saturday brunch during our weekend in LA. The place was fairly busy but we were able to get a table quickly. The menu had an interesting take on Turkish/Greek dishes one may usually find with vegetarian/vegan options too. We got the Lebanese egg pie, the mushroom manush and the Halibut. All three were excellent, they elevated these dishes with a very interesting flavor profile. The Manish especially had an interesting citrus note to it. The Lebanese egg pie was so flaky and delicious - the pie was excellent! The halibut was nice too with pistachio sauce but was my least favorite of all. Wow, incredible experience here! We came without a reservation on a weeknight for dinner. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, calm and felt elevated without being overover the top. I am vegetarian and have celiac disease (strictly gluten-free), and had an absolutely wonderful time with all the food. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, and everything was gluten-free. This was impressive given the multiple Mediterranean items on the menu that would traditionally have bread. We had the cheese sambeuk appetizer, and it was amazing, warm, soft, large cheese filled pastry dough. I could have eaten just a plate of these for dinner. We shared the arugula and artichoke manoush (flatbread) and the eggplant and falafel for entrees. The flatbread itself was delicious, and the toppings mixed together really well with the coolness from the labneh, acidity from the sundried tomatoes, and freshness of the arugula covered in pomegranate glaze - great! The eggplant/falafel plate was excellent too, the falafel tasted very fresh, and we were able to try multiple delicious dips like the hummus, baba ghannoush in it as well. We had the baklava tart as the dessert - it was definitely a good attempt at recreating some of the baklava flavors, though I think it is very difficult to recreate the adequate flakiness/crunchiness iconic baklava in the gluten-free tart form. I took my husband here since it's fully gluten free and we had a fantastic time! Its such a cool place inside and they have a nice outdoor area as well - we ate outside. Everyone was so so kind and attentive to us. Truly fantastic customer service! I got the chicken kabob with pita and garlic whip too. We shared the garlic cheese bread and spinach and cheese sambousek. I really liked the cheese one. My husband got the sausage manoush. I could not taste the difference in bread (im not gluten free) at all because it was so soft and fluffy and not dry at all. The only thing i could tell the difference in was the pita, but i still snarfed all my pieces. Excellent hummus and garlic whip! My chicken was not dry at all and a good portion size too. We ended up taking some home! Unfortunately neither of us were wild about the baklava "tart" which i felt bad for my husband because i dont think hes ever had baklava and i love it. Here's what I tried: -Grilled Chicken Tawook: the green sauce on here is so good! 10/10 for the sauce but the chicken was a bit too dry. -Garlic Herb Bread: cheesy, crispy edges, buttery goodness. I'm not gluten free but would happily order this over and over. Arrived piping hot and fresh and I'm thinking about reordering as I'm writing this -Chocolate cake: again, I'm not on any dietary restrictions and this cake was still so decadent and rich for a vegan dessert. We thought there would be easier parking because there was a parking lot but there are other high traffic businesses in the same lot so it was busy. I found parking on San Fernando and there is an opening that opens to the back area as well with outdoor seating. The staff was really friendly and answered questions. We tried the egg pie, flat bread, fattoush salad, meze plate. The cheese filled bread on the meze plate was my favorite and so good. Also amazing that everything is gluten free?! Service this day was a little slow, one waiter working all the tables for inside and outside eating. But it was fine, we were in no rush. We ordered the mezza sampler ($23), the lamb kibbeh ($18), extra pita ($4), off the grill lamb kafta ($23). Gf beer - ipa. Loved our food. This place is comically bad, like a parody of bad. Literally every aspect of our experience was bad, and we seem to like most restaurants. Both times the waitstaff were strangely rude, like remarkably unfriendly, and hard to get a hold of. The entrees we ordered were oddly small portions, like bizarro small. And for being kinda pricy and so small, the food was just okay. And the atmosphere was not good either! It was cold, with all the doors open, and the music was so loud we could barely hear each other. My wife and I shared a few dishes and all of them were pretty good. This place is one of Echo Park's precious gems! Boss lady (mom) and I love it. We always have to order their hummus with shawerma which is to die for! Very well seasoned with pickled red onion and lemony flavored. Trust me I'm salivating just thinking about it! Some of other favorite stuff from here are their sambousek which is Lebanese style empanadas. The lentil and veggie turmeric soups are comforting and hearty. The ambiance is so nice and armonious that you can totally feel how everyone around you is enjoying their food. My all time favorite stuff from here is no doubt their knafeh. It tastes both doughy and with the crunchiness of the kataifi, the not overly sweetness of the syrup with hint of rose extract and crushed pistachios perfectly balance with the cheese inside! I went to Levant for a Sunday brunch. It's a cute spot, but the food isn't your typical Lebanese cuisine. As an appetizer, the lebni dip was good! I ordered the batata harra with fried eggs, with added merguez sausage. The presentation was pretty, but it wasn't at all spicy, the way that batata harra usually is. My friend and I both went for the Lamb Kafta wrap and enjoyed it. It was super fresh and bursting with flavorful herbs and spices. The texture of the pita was unbelievably soft and I forgot many times that it was gluten free. We also tried their cinnamon roll, chocolate hazelnut brookie (which reminded me of a Ferraro Rocher candy) and a baklava tart. Wonderful place and staff. They are soy and gluten free automatically. Beyond that, they have markings for vegan, vegetarian, dairy, and nut free options on the menu. And one step further, they were even able to tell me what had potato (including starch and flour) or parsnip in it as I'm allergic to those as well. I ate here twice. First time with only one other person and next day with 4 other people. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and enthusiastically consume it and mine was wonderful and didn't negativity impact my gut or my vacation! On top of that, the waitress we had was super kind, patient, and looked everything up for me to see if I could have it. I've bookmarked the place for future trips. My only wish would be having a few options that used something other than potato flour for the dessert that remained stocked past breakfast. Far from the best and it was tad too citrusy but the char on the octopus made up for it. The tentacles were the best part. We then got the grilled mixed plate. Lamb was great and gamey and cooked well. The rice loose and a tad unseasoned. The real star of the dish was the baba ganoush. We also got the fig and cheese manoush which was decent but nothing special. It added a nice finish to our meal. For our dessert we got the baklava tart which was quite the best. Wow! This place was great. My husband and I came in for a late lunch/early dinner and sat at the bar. Service was excellent from our server to everyone else that made sure our meal was great. Both the shawarma and lamb kafla were amazing. The hummus,baba ganoush, pickles, and rice all complimented the delicious meat perfectly. I've been here a few times and I think that the vibe is quiet and tucks you away from the echo park grime but not extra ordinarily transformative. The food is okay but not out of this world either. And as far as the service goes, is at its best, okay. There always seems to just be one person working the whole floor along a manager who just deals with the wine. My last visit on Tuesday might just be my last in a while. The potatoes that come with are delicious and pair well with the garlic sauce. The chicken kabob was very flavorful and the Lebanese rice had a warm cinnamon flavor. A gluten free destination--everything on the menu is gluten free, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well, and other allergens denoted on their menu. Everything I've had from Levant has been fantastic. I love the flavor of their meats (maybe baharat seasoning?), and their flatbreads are delicious too. The service can be slow at times, so maybe plan to not be in a hurry if you're dining in haha, but I'm not knocking any stars off for that, because the food is great, and I still really enjoy any time I can stop by. read more

We love this place! We live in San Diego, but we drive up to L.A. to eat here. The garlic cheese bread is to die for, and we love the cheese sambousek, which we eat with either shwarma or kofta, both of which are delicious!
