A fun vibe , yummy food, and staff is always welcoming. However, I do NOT frequent this place like I did 3 years ago. The prices have increased and the amount of food decreased. I decided to give it one more chance and ordered the 1/4 dark meat Pollo a la Brasa.. again disappointment! I received the smallest piece of chicken and even mentioned it to the waiter.. wow.. Limon I will miss you, bye!
Nice interior and pleasant service. I like most of what we ordered- octopus dish was tasty and tender, crispy pork came with a very palatable fried rice, paella had generous protein, beed rib looks dry but it was not, ceviche was refreshing and acted like a palate cleaner. The only thing I regret ordering was their Pollo Ala Brasa- the akin tasted good but the actual meat is very dry. I would go back but will not order the chicken.
Had a great lunch yesterday. We were welcomed right when we arrived and seated near the large window looking out to the street. Our server was very friendly and service was excellent. We started with their Passion Fruit Pisco Sour. Lucious frothy egg white foam topped a yummy passionfruit base. Next we had the Limon Ceviche plate, served with Taro chips, Chicken Empanadas, Camarones Crocantes and Truffle Mac and Cheese. Food was all delicious, well seasoned and flavorful.
Limon has generally been a decent experience for me, though I've often felt the pricing doesn't quite match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was especially disappointing. I ordered the Lomo Saltado for takeout, and even within a few bites before leaving, I noticed I was having to chew a lot more than usual. The texture was both rubbery and dry, and it required far more chewing than expected. After getting home, I set a few pieces aside to take a closer look, and parts of the meat also appeared undercooked. The texture issues were already present before I left the restaurant, even after I gently reheated the dish at home. Overall, the dish fell well below what I would expect. Another issue from this visit was the inconsistency with takeout service. In my recent experiences over the past couple of weeks, utensils are rarely offered unless specifically asked for, and in most cases not mentioned at all during pickup. It feels like an oversight in the pickup process that should be more consistently handled, either by including utensils automatically or at least asking the customer. Considering everything from this experience, it's unlikely I'll be ordering the Lomo Saltado again.
Limon is always good, everytime we go. It was a nice sunny day so we went for lunch and shared the seafood platter, and got a couple cocktails. The conchitas were my favorite. Even when they look busy, the longest I've ever waited was maybe 15 minutes. The service, food, and drinks are always on point. Will definitely keep returning!
I came here for dinner with my family. It's a bit overpriced for what you get, and the meat was on the dry side. Food is a little bit bland. The ceviche was the best part of the meal. Not the best overall, but still decent. Our server was very friendly too and kept checking in on us. It was such a busy night with lots of customers.
The food was like "bouquets" of seafood, the way they plattered it. I've had amazing seafood, but the seafood dishes we had at Limón were extraordinary! The color pops in the food presentation were just as vibrant as the Peruvian culture itself. Some of those dishes were enough for two. The combo appetizer alone could've been a meal. Plus their cocktails - whoa! Can I call them healthy? Ahaaaha, well their mocktails certainly were. We had wonderful service by informative waiters. The feel is what I'd call elegant casual. All the decor on their walls and tiling around their bar area are beautiful! Limón in Burlingame is well-located in a corner with entrances on both facing streets. It's right behind a parking lot and directly across additional parking closer to the water. A good amount of indoor and outdoor seating is accessible. This area is hoppin'! Surrounded by local specialty shops, more restaurants, and bakeries - anyone living in the neighboring residential streets are mighty lucky! My cousins wanted to treat me for a super duper belated. I think I'm lucky too. I am giddy over this dining experience!
Been here a bunch of times and Limon continues to be a solid option on the corner of Burlingame Ave. Most recently came on a Thursday around 6pm and were seated immediately without a reservation, which was a nice surprise. The space itself is lively but not chaotic, and it's one of those places that works just as well for a casual weeknight dinner as it does for a low-key date. This visit, my husband and I shared the Jalea ($24) to start and ordered the whole chicken ($38). We subbed the house salad for their signature chifa vegetables (worth the extra $2). The Jalea is a classic fried seafood platter - nothing mind-blowing, but you really can't go wrong with it and it's great for sharing. The chicken is where Limon usually shines. It was cooked perfectly, super juicy, and shredded apart easily. That said, I'm personally not a huge fan of their aji amarillo sauce. It's bold and tends to overpower the already well-seasoned chicken. The chifa vegetables are a must-order every time. Savory and easily one of the best sides on the menu. I've also had their ceviche and lomo saltado on past visits, both of which were excellent and among the safer bets here. Service has consistently been attentive and efficient, even when the restaurant is busy. My only real knock is that it's a bit pricey for what you get, especially if you're ordering multiple dishes or drinks. That said, the quality and consistency usually make it worth it. Overall, a dependable Burlingame staple that I keep coming back to, especially when I'm craving Peruvian flavors and a comfortable, energetic atmosphere.

Tasty food. My favorite definitely the lengua. Other dishes are also great. Like the fish and polenta as well. Service is top. It's good that i had to stop by at their other location at SF and oakland and see the same what looks like server/manager at other locations and he recognized us. read more

A go to lunch spot when I am in the area. The food here is always so well seasoned and fresh. I enjoy the quarter chicken, but I am also a fan of a few other there other dishes like the lomo saltado and the mac and cheese. The staff is so friendly and helpful here. I prefer sitting outside because you can people watch and there are usually a lot of dogs you can look at too. read more
Came here based on a recommendation from a friend, and this place was delicious! Granted I was here for a quick lunch. We ordered the polli-papas, cheese empanadas, and pitcher of sangria to share. The polli-papas and the cheese empanadas also came with this yellow mustard-ish sauce and it was the perfect pairing for each dish. And the sangria... yum! I would've drank more if it wasn't a lunch with business partners lol. Will need to come back and try their entrees. I was told to try: pollo Al a brasa, beef empanadas, ceviche, and truffle Mac and cheese. Guess I know what to order during my next visit! read more
Delicious! 4.5 First time checking this place out, and was not disappointed. We ordered four dishes so that we could try different plates. We got the fries with chicken, tacu tacu, arroz con mariscos and yucca fries. Everything came out super hot and fresh. The rice was very flavorful, and cooked al dente. Service was quick and on top of everything. We will definitely be back next time we are craving Peruvian! read more

The service was amazing, they accommodated our family of 6, the cocktail drinks & food got there super quick. We ordered a lot of things from the menu super amazing, the only was that my mom got food poisoning from the ceviche but the amazing chicken, truffle Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts & more made up for it. Desert was nice but the biggest problem our server couldn't manage couldn't handle it anything else .If I'm not won't his name is James around 25 years old .We were 4 but one of us didn't have set up we asked 3 times there were very busy I can understand but it was strange 2 plate came and the other 2 people waited the others also one of them came wrong it was different 2 drinks came the 2 drinks came after that no plate for desert also he served with food spoon I've ever never had an this kind of experience. Great place! Had an amazing server who gave us the best recommendations. The ambiance is nice, perfect for date night. The food was amazing, definitely recommend the Lomo Saltado. Also recommend trying their Peruvian sodas- they were so good! read more

Came here at a friends suggestion and based on my dining experience at a another Peruvian restaurant, I had low expectations. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. We made reservations and it seemed like it wasn't necessary, but it filled up quickly during dinner, so I would recommend reservations. We ordered yucca fries, 1/2 rotisserie chicken (pollo a la brasa) and an octopus and potato special--I don't recall the exact name of the dish. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crisp. The chicken was roasted nicely, skin was crisp and served with 2 sides of your choice and a yellow Huacatay dipping sauce. The food was delicious and I definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

This is the most popular Peruvian food place in the Bay Area. Ceviche Mixto is definitely a statement piece. Have to try it. The chips that came with it was soooo good. I couldn't stop. Really liked this cauliflower side dish too. It's a warm veggie one. Everything comes with very pretty presentations. Love everything we had. Already planned to come back for new stuff. read more
I'm not a fan of the pennisula, usually service is Bougie and stuck up. A little bit better here, made a reservation for 2 and last minute during the day pushed it out an hour and seemed like there were plenty of 2 tops but getting there it was packed, and people were waiting like whoa did I make a reservation at the right location? I did and we sat down ahead of others within 5 minutes. Churrasco was super tender and seasoned well, medium rare came out perfect. Mariscos ceviche magical fresh and citrusy acidic yum. Love that the seafood was half cooked and super fresh and sweet. Pisco sours all night, money Chicarron de pollo y tacu tacu, legit money. Very smoky atmosphere but big windows are opened. Our server I think it was luis or I don't remember the name he works at night, he did an amazing job, he was very attentive and helpful with the recommendations. The ambience inside is pretty loud when its busy, you literally have to scream for people to hear you from the other side of the table that was something that was bothering because if you trying to have a nice chill dinner inside is probably not the spot to be at. The cucumber margarita was really good and refreshing. The saltado de pollo was pretty filling, it was good. We also got the empanadas they were good too. Not great but it did its job. read more
It had been awhile since we went back to Limon. We really like the changes they've made to the menu and the presentation of their food dishes. There seems to be more options for sharing such as the Brasa Platter (16 oz ribeye, half rotisserie chicken, crispy pork belly, ají panca cabernet demi-glace served with mushrooms & yuca fries) and the Fiesta Platter (Chicharrón de pollo, beef empanadas, plátano frito, & yuca fries). We want to return to order a platter so that my parents can try different items. We started the evening with El Diablito (Pisco Caravedo Quebranta, pomegranate juice, mint, angostura bitters, ginger syrup, lime juice) and Cadillac Margarita (Butterfly pea infused 100% blue agave tequila, Combier D' orange, Grand Marnier, & fresh citrus). Both were refreshing and not too sweet. For a starter, we shared the Trio Ganador con Mixto Mariscos which was three ceviches plus seafood (Pacific red snapper ceviche in our trio of leche de tigre: Ají amarillo, Rocoto, and Clásico) with a side of taro chips. All three had their own unique flavors and were delicious. They presented the trio in glass bowls over ice. The trio bowls used to be served on a simple white plate. The Conchitas (scallops) were yummy and also served over ice. The presentation of the two starters looked great. Then we had the Lomo Saltado and with Sweet Potato Fries, a side of Green Beans, and Arroz con Mariscos. All the seafood was fresh and the dishes tasted outstanding this evening. The place got pretty packed by the time we were done with our meal at about 7:45pm so that was nice to see especially on a Wednesday night. read more

The seafood is really good, very family sharing type of orders, the restaurant is super packed but was still able to accommodate for our large party. The interior was amazing showing the region the cuisine comes from. The birthday showing was extremely fun to watch. read more

Limon is one of my favorite at any location. Burlingame is better for lunch vibes in my opinion. Lomo Saltodo is my go-to in any Peruvian restaurant. Quality is on par with all other places. Flavor is less salty than other places, which is good depend on moods. Steak is always a pleasant bite! Service is always superb. Outside seatings may have uneven tables due to curb conditions. Do recommend sitting inside. Outside only if it's good day and the leaning table is not too much of an issue. read more
Rainy day, no real plans and after a non planned visit around the area the next spontaneous thing to do was eat on downtown Burlingame. Limón was the first option while browsing restaurants and I suddenly craved Peruvian food. First time in this location and was surprised how full the place was at 3pm. Luckily we were able to get a table. Taking the order was very smooth but there was some sort of confusion to get the advertised freebie when you check with a Yelp (sangria!!!). The waiter thought it might be only for SF location and ther were 2-3 people involved until we got confirmation. As a sweet reminder, when offering something extra for the check-ins please instruct the people working there so it does not come as a surprise for them and as embarrassing situation for the customers showing the online freebie right there on the phone. Anecdotes apart, that sangria was amazing, really good (I am from Spain and I know what a good sangria is). We got a little tipsy, especially because I only drink in rare occasions nowadays. Well,for me being tipsy means laughing non stop and I tool a selfie to proof. Unfiltered selfies don't lie:) Food wise was excellent. We shared the octopus dish (the chumichurri or similar sauce was on point, perfect match to the well cooked potatoes. I would rather have had more octopus than potatoes and corn but it was awesome flavor and satisfying. The Fiesta platter was equally delicious. After that amount of sangria we needed more food to refuel. We got not overly sweet, just perfect desserts that I am not sure there were in the menu and whose names I don't remember. Just how pretty and tasty they were. Will go back to try the ceviche hopefully soon! read more

I tried this back in Feb 2019 and tried it again Aug 2021. 3.5 stars rounded up. .:: Food ::. -2021- Lomo Saltado $25.00: Wok stir-fried beef tenderloin with onions, tomatoes in ginger-infused soy sauce, french fries & served with jasmine rice. Pretty good, tender meat, great flavors. Prob my fav dish out of everything. Pretty much their famous dish and the only dish I would come for. (Again, I forgot how to yelp during Covid haha, forgot to take pics ) -2019- 1/2 Chicken $19: rotisserie chicken. a bit dry. I wasnt a huge fan of this in 2019 tbh. Lengua a la Parrilla $14.95: Grilled marinated beef tongue, baby yukon mashed potato, chimichurri, Aji panca demi glace. For some reason the tongue texture ALWAYs gets me, but my friends said it was quite tender. Seco De Limeña $26: Braised boneless beef short ribs in a huacatay-cilantro broth, potatoes, carrots & English peas. Served with jasmine rice. Had this in 2019 and in 2021 and still wasnt a big fan of it, for some reason the flavoring was not something I like personally. Not as tender. La Bomba del Amor $13: Vodka, combier, fresh lemon juice, prickly pear & passion fruit puree. pretty good flavors, sweet enough. And the aesthetics of the drink in a bulb like jar. .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. The service was great in 2021, I dont quite remember 2019 service but the waiters/ manager stopped by to check on us. We got seated immediately on a Sunday at noon-ish. The food came in a timely manner. The place was pretty modern and clean cut. We got take out from Lemon in Burlingame. It was packed very nicely. he place had a very Latin vibe which was cool. It was confusing where to enter the restaurant and where to pick up your food. One of the hostesses was a bit abrupt with me telling me to make sure that I enter the right way the next time I come. Well, there probably will not be a next time but thanks for the reprimand! The food was good though. We got a lot of things: Kale salad: Huge and yummy Romaine wedge salad: Great Brussel sprouts: burnt to perfection. I love them like that! Cauliflower: Ok but nothing special Potatoes: ok but nothing special Green beans: we were expecting zucchini from the online menu but it didn't matter because we love green beans and these were so good! Rice and French fries: I am not sure why these were put together but they were so good so it didn't matter. The rice was soft and really yummy. Surf and Turf of steak and shrimp: really good said the meat eaters. Some chicken deep fried thing that the dog went nuts for! Great food. read more
This place was great, one of my preferred Limon's in comparison to other locations. We had the arroz con mariscos and the quarter dark with yucca fries and chief vegetables. Also a must is the truffle Mac and cheese. For drinks all their drinks are great, they have good sangria, Pisco's and good mezcal drinks or non alcoholic as well. The staff was nice and attentive and this location is nice in general. Would recommend! read more
Pretty amazing, authentic Peruvian food. The place was packed when my boyfriend and I visited but we were able to snatch a table for 2 even at 7pm. The location is at downtown Burlingame so it was definitely a hotspot with lots of shops nearby to checkout if the wait is long. We were able to find street parking a block down. I thought the food was on the pricier side which is why I'm giving it 4 stars, but if you're rich then I 100% recommend lol. Portion wise it's also great! read more

If you're craving Peruvian food, I highly recommend Limon in Burlingame. Parking might be a hassle for the first-timer but if drive a few blocks, there's public metered parking (behind Copenhagen Bakery) The place is clean and spacious. There's also a bar against the wall. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the place is not that full. We're a party of eight and we're given a long table to accommodate all of us I had their Carretillero Travieso with a side of Taro chips. If you like ceviche, this item will make you salivate. It has crispy calamari with a seafood mixture of Pacific red snapper, calamari, shrimp, rocoto leche de Tiger canche choclo, and sweet potato with a side order of taro chips. The bowl is very rich in all these mixtures of seafood. I enjoyed this ceviche very much. We also had a couple of cocktails of Tropical Mojito and Michelada. After lunch, we had their desserts of Tres Leche, chocolate bandito and panna cotto. There's still a lot of Peruvian food we wanted to try but we will come again and enjoy them. It is more like a 3.5 star. This restaurant use to be one of my favorite restaurants but each time there are some disappointment. Service and staff are nice and friendly. They are very fast and very helpful, for a busy restaurant I think they did a great job. What disappointed me is the food. I use to order octopus with mush potatoes all the time, but each time, it became more salty. It feels like they added an extra spoon of salt inside. Ceviche is always good, this is something I would order every time without disappointment. We also ordered their chicken, my friend said it is a bit dry, but the their San Francisco location had better chicken. read more

I haven't had Limon since before the pandemic and I really missed their food, especially their empanadas. It wasn't our original plan to stop by but the craving was strong that day lol and we're not often around the downtown burlingame area anymore. They weren't too busy so we seized the opportunity and ordered the veggie and chicken empanadas. They're sooooo good. Super crispy on the outside and the filling is very filling lol. And flavorful for both. My favorite though is the chicken empanada. They're popular for their chicken and definitely have to try that on it's own from here. But it was very juicy and flavorful with the sauce that's mixed in there. I only got a cross section of the veggie one because I was too excited to eat the chicken one! My b! Each order of empanadas comes with 3 pieces for $12. They're on the smaller side but they pack a flavorful punch. Especially with the yummy ahi amarillo yellow dipping sauce it comes with. One of our favorite restaurants!! Luis C. Is the BEST waiter! But all of the waiters are very nice & constantly checking up on you to make sure your are enjoying the food or if you need anything. I always get the chicken with chifa vegetables(green beans) & yucca fries or sweet potato fries. Husband gets the Saltado De Pollo with shrimp. Empanadas are good too as well as our favorite Polli Papas. Tacu Tacu is always perfectly made. Ají Amarillo sauce is so delicious!! We always have a lot of leftovers. Cocktails are pretty good, we tried a lot of them. Our favorites are all the pisco sours, bomba del amor and the sangría. It gets busy but worth it!! read more

Someone had mentioned the restaurant Limon a few years ago. We were looking for a place to have dinner and Limon popped up. I was curious since I don't think we've ever really had Peruvian food before so wanted to try something else besides my usual places. The reservation system on Yelp wasn't working and when the bf called they mentioned the wait time was about 10 minutes and they'd get the reservation system working on Yelp. We decided to add our party of 4 to the waitlist. When we had checked in they said the wait for our table would be around 15 minutes. We waited a good 40-45 min before our table was ready. It was pretty hectic and the Yelp waitlist timeframe was super off. I was just happy we got a good seating with the outdoor patio where the tables were separated. For drinks we started with the lychee sour and the bf got the rocoto hot sauce. The lychee sour was good . It was super strong and had a good flavor. The rocoto hot sauce had a nice kick to it and great for people who like their drinks spicy. 5/5 We started off with the ceviche mixto $20 . Glad we ordered 2 orders of it . Added taro chips $3 . I've had my fair share of ceviches and it was nothing spectacular. The portions are very small. 1 order is good for 2 people to share. The octopus didn't really taste fresh and the herbs they used were super overpowering. They was also barely any octopus and had a lot of potatoes. This dish was my least favorite l. 1/5 Truffle Mac and cheese: This dish was literally my favorite. The Mac and cheese was cooked perfectly and the truffle flavor really stood out. There is a commuter train station by it so you might be able to park there otherwise I'm not quite sure
