We do not live in the neighborhood but our son and is in a magnet program near by and this has become our early dinner choice before any evening school function. It's got a great old school vibe coupled with friendly service and good food. The pizzas are big enough for my husband and I to share with a side salad, my teen needs his own. And even though we occasionally have shown up just before they close to set up for dinner, the servers have always been great, never rushed us or diminished their service in any way. read more

We had such a fun brunch at Lil Dona on a beautiful Sunday morning. We got lucky with a table outside and our server was both friendly and helpful when we had to choose among so many tasty options. Based on her recommendations we ordered the blueberry ricotta pancakes to share at the table, and they did not disappoint! We also ordered The wood oven roasted eggs, eggs fungi, egg sandwich, and the French toast soufflé. Everything was delicious and unique with a little twist that made it special for Lil Dom's. If you're coming to Little Dom's, you have to try the wood-oven pizza. I'm picky about crust, but their Roman-style thin crust is spot on--crispy, light, and actually has flavor. I usually go for the Margherita with added house-made sausage, but their Breakfast Pizza (with the sunny-side-up egg) is a total game-changer if you're there for brunch. It's always so lovely to be taken to dinner by friends, and also a bit tricky when they suggest a place that is not your favorite from past experience. I wanted so much to have a DIFFERENT and BETTER experience here, so I said yes to the suggestion, but unfortunately no - it was not better, not at all. Now I know that it's absolutely NOT the restaurant for me. First unfortunate moment occurred when I mentioned that I needed my food not to be spicy. That's just not easy to do here. I had gone with my order in mind, and was looking forward to eating chicken Parmesan, but was told by our server that it would not work for me - that it has red pepper flakes and could not be made without them. Well, there she was, taking the order, and I didn't want to take much more time looking everything over again. And I applaud her for telling me that - but what happened next negated that. On the board was a special eggplant parmesan. It's a dish that I usually love. I made a point of asking the server whether THAT would work for me, i.e. whether it would NOT be spicy, and she assured me that it wouldn't be. Well, NOT THE CASE. I didn't get a great feeling from that server anyway. I don't know whether she did it on purpose or not, but it tasted like they'd poured an entire bottle of chili flakes on my dish. I could barely get it down. And there was another special on the menu that I could have easily eaten, had that server suggested it to me, due to my request. But no - she didn't, so while I had the SPICY eggplant parmesan, my friend had that special, and it had no spice to it whatsoever. And when ordering, I'd asked whether I could have perhaps a chicken breast with my eggplant as I wanted some protein, and that was also a hard NO. Thankfully, these sweet and generous friends ordered up a veritable feast for all of us, so I had enough to eat, but seriously - it was like being in Mexico and you ask for something to be mild so they pile on the spice (it's happened to me and many others - Im not making it up - it's the gringo experience) - that was the experience here. I did like the Italian Burrata & Spring Vegetables, admittedly, and the dessert, but again, even the English Peas were doused in spice and later, I was also not thrilled when I wanted some coffee and couldn't even get the word "decaf" out of my mouth before the server said NO emphatically. Got it. Eating here is like going to an "Italian Nazi" (ref: Soup Nazi). NO SOUP FOR ME! And NO MORE OF MY BUSINESS FOR YOU! read more

This place used to have great food I swear but they've now just become a vibey/people-watching spot. We ordered the daily special of the lasagna, it was extremely dry and made us feel sick afterwards. The side fried potatoes were crispy but totally unseasoned, we had to ask for a dipping sauce which also turned out to be unseasoned. The artichokes were burnt and dry, and curiously sharp? The servers were overwhelmed with a lot of tables so it was difficult to get their attention. Go here for a few drinks with friends but avoid wasting your money on the food. Little Dom's is such a cute spot - definitely worth a visit for the vibes of an old Italian neighborhood restaurant! I snagged a reservation for 7:45 PM on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was definitely bustling. The service did leave a little to be desired as our food order was not taken until 8:22 PM. Drinks were delicious. I loved the LD Cosmo with house infused lemon vodka. It was not too sweet and the perfect coupe. I also tasted the Unholy Cleanse which was great. I had the vague "fish picatta" which was a lovely swordfish filet on a bed of steamed green beans. The flavor and texture was spot on, although the portion was on the small side for the price. Our table also got the chicken parmesan which was enormous, but did not come with any sides. We ordered the seeded sourdough which was a great accompaniment. Next time, maybe it's better to get fewer mains and more appetizers? The plating was just a bit odd and it wasn't clear what was right to order. We asked our server if we would need appetizers with what we were getting and she sort of shrugged and said "you could but don't have to." My husband got chicken parm and spaghetti, honestly nothing about it was special and that's what I'm looking for if I'm going to spend $100+ to eat out. My crispy oyster poboy was not it, I'm sorry I tried to like it, presentation was beautiful and looked appetizing but flavors were lacking. Food on the menu was short and very very expensive for the portions definitely not worth the hard earned money my wife ordered a tiny little 8oz steak only on the menu doesn't come with anything else over $30 and we ordered it to be cooked well done and we received it bloody and pink. I ordered a tea which we never received until my wife said something towards the end. the salad is gross and taste like the front lawn they put it on every dish. Seems that everything is fried there. Tryed ordering the spaghetti but they mixed their beef meatballs with pork. I'm allergic to pork and can't eat it disappointing seeing how I love spaghetti. It's one of my favorites. Everything from delicious steak to wonderful salad a good solid menu and whether you take out or sit in is always very tasty. The ambience of the restaurant is Like you stepped back in time. Little Dom's is a neighborhood staple that I just can't seem to get into. I've been several times and each time is just okay. We arrive early and got some drinks at the bar which are fantastic. The bartenders can definitely make a great drink! For our appetizers we started with the meatballs and artichoke. The meatballs were good, nothing crazy exciting and the artichoke barely had any "meat" on them and it was overcooked and charred. For our entrees we got the margarita pizza, lasagna, pappardelle & agnolotti. Everything was just ok but nothing stood out, kinda of like a fancy frozen dinner that was microwaved. The prices are decent but getting to Silverlake is a haul for a underwhelming meal. The vibe and service are great and I can see why so many people flock to this place. But if it came down to just the food, I'd spend my money anywhere else for better a better meal. read more

I ordered on doordash, and had to call to make sure my sandwich had no mayo, because I hate mayo. They said no problem, will make it with no mayo, but sent me a sandwich that had mayo. After I called back they said they can make it with no mayo this second time, but I would need to place my order again, so I did. I was told I would be refunded for the first order which never happened. I was charged two times for only one correct order and I am owed 50 dollars by these guys. Is it that hard to just include an option on doordash to remove certain ingredients like mayo, or whatever else, and then have the chef follow those instructions. Please just add an option on doordash to order the sandwich with no mayo, so I don't have to call and waste time just to end up receiving a sandwich with mayo on it anyways. The sandwich was excellent, and I would like to order it again, if that was possible without gambling on wether there will be mayo on it. Please have the manager go into doordash and add the option to remove certain ingredients from the items, such as the mushroom pasta can be made vegan when cheese is removed, but it is impossible to order it vegan on doordash, because there is no option to select no cheese, or vegan option. I've been coming here for years and can always find great food, charming service, and a warm ambiance at Little Dom's! My wife and I recently stopped by for their heavenly Oven Baked Eggs over medium with Sesame Crusted Sourdough Toast. I am a freak for a perfectly cooked egg with toast and coffee, followed by an Olive Cake. It was perfection! I need this delicious breakfast dish every morning. It's on my wishlist!!! We were in the area and looking for something to eat as we are not normally over here and decided to try this place. It was very busy and about an hour from "closing" for lunch. Still a bit confused about whether they actually close close or not bc you could definitely stay and enjoy your food it seemed. The food was good, my partner thought so as well but thought it was a wee overpriced for the sizes. I got the salmon which was good. I left there very full. I forgot the veggie that came with it but yes very full. We also got the rice balls which we both had never had and found delicious and he got the chicken sandwich. Which he liked as well. Also got the olive oil cake which was so good. We had also never had that before and didnt know what to expect, but it was citrusy. Little Dom's has become our go-to for a post-hike brunch. Despite the number of options on their menu, I always find myself gravitating towards my two favorite items -- 1. Eggs Fungi - The oyster and shitake mushrooms are cooked to perfection with just the amount of bite without being too mushy. With two poached eggs and a creamy hollandaise over toasted sour dough, this is definitely a favorite amongst our group. If you're feeling like you need a bit more protein after your hike, go for the Hanger Steak & Eggs which is pretty much the same dish but with the mushrooms replaced by steak! 2. Ricotta Cheese & Fresh Blueberry Pancakes -- Just get it...you'll thank me later. Super fluffy and light pancakes. A mixed drink (spicy Susie $16) came in the smallest champagne glass or margarita glass ever made and tasted like pure alcohol. Had the spaghetti and meatballs, margherita pizza, chicken parmesan and almond cake a la mode. Everything tasted ok. The marinara sauce for the spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan was not very flavorful and a bit acidic for my taste. Pasta was a little past al dente. Make your reservation on the Resy app and prepare to look for neighborhood parking since Los Feliz is so dense. Not sure if it was how she is or if it was an 'off' night for her. She forgot simple things like our waters and my diet coke refill! Nevertheless, the portions here are huge! And it truly might have been some of the worst service I've ever had. Our table ordered the oven roasted shishito peppers and rice balls as appetizers. I love arancini, and these were nice and melty, but lacked in flavor. 6/10 for taste The shishito peppers were probably the best thing we had. Some were spicy, most were not. 7/10 for taste. I had the pappardelle, and it was very small and has almost no flavor. Just cream. 5/10. I honestly make way better pasta than that. My friends ordered the Margherita pizza which was huge! Very thin crust. She seemed to like it, but only ate half because it was so huge. My other friend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and she barely touched her plate. The stratiactelli gelato was good, but didn't stand out at all. I've had better store bought gelato. 6/10 Our server was veryyyyy all over the place. She spilled wine all over our napkins and menus when she poured. She forgot she had taken my credit card when I paid. She forgot the flavors of the gelato. She was just very very off all night. Haven't been in so long but my husband and I stopped by this past Monday for a delicious gem caesar salad, steak, and a piece of marble cake with creme fraiche. Our server finally showed up about 14 mins to our table as introductions. I work in the service industry so I know it can be tricky when you're having a rush, but there was only a few tables in this section and he wasn't attending to any other tables. Finally we get our order in and that's the last time we see him. We never get refills on our water, no checking in on the food and no check. The support staff picking up our dirty dishes became our servers. At the end when our server Mick came with the check after the support staff had to get his attention, he just tossed the card and receipt on the table making the whole situation feel personal. The menu is simple but has all the classics. Don't miss the Bub & Grandmas Seeded Sourdough & Salted Butter to start with. The Rice Balls are another must. For my main I went with the Spaghetti and Meatballs and it was tasty and comforting with lots of flavor in the ball. First off, I have had many wonderful meals and experiences at Lil Dom's. But last night my wife & I arrived for our reservation. Hosts were not friendly when checking us in. They then talked amongst themselves for 10 minutes after barely registering our presence and checking us in. We tried to order a drink at the bar while we waited for our reservation. Bartender slapped a menu down at us and never took a drink order. She was definitely too busy to take an order. Then hosts sat us outside by the door to patio. We asked to be moved as the door was constantly in use. They said they would look into it. When the unfriendly server came by , we again said, we don't want to sit by the door. She said am a server, and that not my job. At this point, we walked out. Horrible vibes from the staff all around. We walked across the street and had great service and delicious food at Encanto. Finally made the trek to Brooklyn, I mean the East Side to eat at Little Doms as I was a Dominick's regular and miss it to this day. The restaurant is quaint and charming. Lovely service and cocktails. The food was good and reasonably priced but not worth the 20 minute search for parking. The neighborhood, like most of LA (especially the East Side) is in decline so I much prefer restaurants with valet or secure self parking. I am glad I went for lunch because I would not feel safe walking 5 blocks to my car at night in that part of town. It's meters only here - if you're lucky - or escape circling in traffic (and homeless beggars) and park in the residential streets above LFB. But if you have a reservation/meeting friends, plan additional time to do so. I see why hipsters love this place and if you live on that side of town, Little Dom's is definitely worth patronizing but if you're not a neighborhood local, I'm not sure its worth the schlep and anxiety navigating traffic, searching for parking in addition to dodging and being acosted by panhandlers/homeless. read more

Sitting outside for dinner, felt like I was transported back to Brooklyn! Came with a friend for Monday supper ($25 for a set menu) and both felt food was lackluster albeit a decent deal. We both had the $5 house beers, and our set menu consisted of a salad (waaay overdressed), clam fusilli (decent), and a mascarpone with market berries. Perhaps the main menu is better? I'd probably come back if someone else wanted to try this institution or for light bites and a drink / people watch, but wasn't super enthused about the food I had this time around. Went last night with a large group to celebrate a birthday. Service by Mick was excellent considering that we had nine people at the table and that the place was pretty crowded. Am only rating the food and beverages that I tried, as I sampled a few of the dishes others had ordered. Before dinner, I had a Vieux Carre and my wife had an old fashioned, both of which were excellent. The wines we had during dinner were good if not remarkable. The food was a mixed bag. We started out with the seeded sourdough bread and the wood grilled artichoke. Both were very tasty. My son's burger was the star of the show, very tasty and juicy (i.e., messy, as good burgers can be). My grandson's margherita pizza was very good, with a nice thin crust. The pastas fell short. The ricotta cavatelli was not terribly flavorful and was mediocre at best. My pappardelle was good for the first couple of bites, but it quickly got gummy and lost its appeal. The gem lettuce and avocado salad my wife ordered was an improvement, well-coated with a lemon/creme fraiche dressing. Didn't really try the desserts, but the consensus of the group was that they were pretty good. Overall, pricing was a little bit on the high side, both for food and for drinks. I would return, but would skip the pastas in favor of the burger or pizza. read more
