Came to this place to check it out. It's a cute spot. The food was good. I like the place very clean and nice. Waiter was friendly. I had a good salad and yummy onion rings it's local and prices were reasonable. My daughter liked her lunch and appetizer as well. Seems like a lot of locals come from the South Bay. I've been here a handful of times and have been amazed. My friends and I went to happy hour at madres and then tortilla cantina and we weren't impressed. Ambiance: nice pub feel, way bigger than I expected. I opted to sit at the bar, which was cozy but not suffocating. Couple of tvs to catch the game on. Service: it was a group effort. I didn't consistently have one person, but they were all very kind. I could only get drink suggestions outta one person, but overall, I had no issue. Food: I had been craving a Buffalo chicken sandwich for a bit, so maybe my expectations were a bit high, but this sandwich just missed the mark. It kept falling apart. My friend and I stopped by Local Kitchen for a late lunch around 2PM on a Friday afternoon. Business was understandably slow so there was no wait to be seated at all. We got seated at a large table and were given their menu which was quite extensive and long--it could rival the Cheesecake Factory's menu! So we had to ask our waitress for suggestions, she listed a ton and asked us what we liked. I ended up with the meatloaf tower while my friend got the XXXXXXWe both thoroughly enjoyed our food and our server came back multiple times to check on us and provide beverage refills. The restaurant is located in Old Torrance which sometimes is a pain to park but not in the mid afternoon. The inside of the restaurant is pleasantly decorated with a bit of an east coast, tavern vibe--it was a bit dark inside though which made reading the menu difficult (so I had to borrow a trick from my parents and use my phone as a light). Overall a pleasant and satisfying lunch. With so many menu items, we'll have to go back to try other dishes. read more

Visiting from out of town. I found this place on Yelp. Walking into the restaurant we were greeted with a warm and welcoming smiling along with a hello. The smell of the seasoning are good. This means whoever is in the kitchen means business and I Like It! It's early November so the Xmas season is fully activated. This Xmas decor was beautiful. I met the waitress (Marlyn) who did the decor and said she does it every year. We order appetizers and our meal. Everything with a hit! All you heard were forks and fingers hitting plates. This silence was on and eating was fully activated. We need extra sauce for our food and she brought our sauce almost immediately. Our food was still hot & fresh when our sauces arrived. And YES, this place was packed when we arrived. The waiter checked on us and our food very genuinely. She refilled our water without us asking. I wish this restaurant out near my house. We all tasted the cheesecake. It was also a HIT! It tastes very authentic. We shared a slice and I was gifted a free slice to take home for my birthday. Oh, I AM A HAPPY CAMPER! I came to HH with an old coworker and for starters, we ordered 2 strawberry margaritas.. as our meals, we ordered calamari, sliders, spinach dip with chips, and wings. We never received any utensils and service on our end was a bit slow although the table next to us was getting some attention. The rating is really a 4.5. I could have eliminated the brussel sprouts. I went to the Local Kitchen for the first time Sunday, July 13 for lunch (around 1:25 p.m.) We got right in. I ordered the brussel sprouts, which were just okay. They were drenched in balsamic vinegar so not dry and crispy. They were flavored with bacon so that added a little sumthin' sumthin'. But the star of my lunch was the Jorge pasta w/shrimp. It also had spinach and artichoke. That has to be the best pasta and shrimp dish I've had in the last few decades. It was delicious and the Parmesan cream sauce was perfect. The portion was ample. It had jumbo shrimp and plenty of them. The shrimp were perfectly cooked-- plumb and succulent. They could have had a we bit of seasoning, but were delicious as they were. The pasta was regular penne but cooked perfectly al dente. Sooooo good. I think what contributed to the great flavor was the rendered fat from the cheese and a goodly amount of olive oil and garlic. (I found out how much fat there was when I reheated the leftovers ). It was well seasoned with a good hit of citrus on the chips/salsa, meat was exceptionally well seasoned as well he appetizer as a whole. Again, it was the best nachos I've ever had and I'm a nacho aficionado. The AI Philly cheese steak was very good (subbed the fries for onion rings also very good!). I'm embarrassed to say (so I won't) how many years I've lived in the south bay before I finally decided to give Old Torrance a look-see for eats. Boy, am I glad I did. Local Kitchen is terrific food (try the Zamperini's Skillet Lasagna) at reasonable prices. Not being a drinker, I cannot say much about their alcohol, but from the menu it looks as if they are serious players in that area. Drawbacks: It's not uncommon to see Trash bags and/or carts-with-trash being carried/wheeled through the dining area. This could be residue from the fact that this retail space was probably not designed to be a restaurant, so the kitchen, the bar, and the backdoor to the rear alley are all separated instead of being integrated into one place so that patrons were shielded from activities they were NOT meant to see (trash). Men's Room . . . . The soap dispense in the sink is broken. It has a push-button knob to dispense soap, but it's missing the lever to take the soap from the knob and put it into the hands of the customer. Without that lever, the soap just dribbles down the side of the knob (NOT into your hands). Men's Room . . . . no coat hook on the back of both toilet stall doors. read more

Surprise night out with coworkers. Our team of 4 went through alot in Q2 and it is a nice to hangout a bit more to bring the team together. On wedneday night, our assistant controller suggested that we grab drinks together after work. and to my surprised, the boss came too, so this one will be on the company's tab :) Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated, drinks were served and the waitress took our orders quickly. Waiter came after sometime - told him my order (he didn't write my order down but memorized it, cool) I was not told I had the option of an adult portion vs. the kids portion. I was left thinking since I'm an adult I must be getting an adult portion. MY ORDER: + The Lil Pasta (comes with a drink) cost: $9 --If you're an adult it cost: $13 Added chicken/spinach (they changed me $6.95 for some chunks of chicken in the pasta basically $7 and didn't tell me it would cost that before hand) + Sparkling Wine (Prosecco) cost: $8/a glass (cool) + Chocolate Chunk Skillet Cookie (not in a skillet. brought on a plate with all this powder/syrup on it -- cool... until I noticed the cookie had been cooked way too long. The outside was a bit on the charred side/ hard. The inside was kind of dry. Led me to wonder... did you try to get fancy with this to camouflage that you over-cooked it??? I DID NOT APPRECIATE having to learn things when I got my check verses when the order was being placed. It comes across as misleading and dishonest. We got the haunted nachos and the carrot cake to share, and I got the chicken and waffles. The haunted nachos are a beast. We didn't think they were going to be so many and we were wrong. It's a full meal and not a shareable plus your own meal like we thought. It was delicious though! and they give you a ton of toppings and meat. The chicken and waffles were mouth watering. The chicken had such a nice crunch to it and it was seasoned well. It was a good combo with the sweetness of the syrup and waffle. The carrot cake was not good. I couldn't really taste the carrots and spices and there was wwaayy too much filling. I probably couldn't taste the other ingredients because the ratio was so off. Our server was super nice. I loved it here! It was our first time coming to this establishment and it was very obviously well known within the community. we went on a weekday and it was already packed. Parking is a little bit hard to find because they are on the street but if you drive around for a few minutes, you'll be sure to find something. Food 10/10 Everything was so good and the portion sizes were humongous. The food is what you'd expect from the reviews on point! Our server was amazing as well. Now my issues with this place..the hostess was nowhere to be found when we showed up waiting to be sat. We came during non peak hours so the restaurant was not busy at all. After some time she finally decided to show up and seat us. In doing so she was not welcoming at all and she had an attitude. My second issue is that the cocktails were subpar at best. The cocktail menu needs a refresh because there was nothing spectacular about the drink menu. We came here tonight for dinner for my birthday. My niece, her husband and the kids brought me. We had high hopes for this place. The scenery is really nice beautiful bar tvs everywhere for sports. We felt a bit rush based off the waiters energy. My niece order aperol spritz and it tasted like syrup she didn't finish it she said it was gross. The spinach dip completely watery it was not a good Spanish dip. Mozzarella sticks still frozen. My nieces husband order steak it was raw you can smell the blood in the steak. My pasta mac and cheese had no flavor it was bad. My niece order the blackened chicken pasta they brought out Cajun shrimp and chicken. She didn't order that and the waiter did get her the correct one but the blackened chicken pasta tasted like salt nothing else the chicken wasn't cooked properly. My granddaughter order a kids burger tasted old. The garlic bread was old as well. It was a $200 dinner and it was definitely not worth it. We didn't finish anything didn't box up anything. The waiter wasn't friendly but my niece still left him a tip that wasn't deserved. The only thing this place has going for itself is the atmosphere that's pretty much it. We were a table of 6 squished at a little table at the center of the restaurant when there was plenty of other tables open. Everything was off from the moment we sat down. My friend and I were looking for a new place to try for dinner and we stumbled on the Local Kitchen. Our waiter Danielle was so polite and accommodating for my vegetarian friend. She helped alter a fish pasta to a vegetarian friendly pasta. Danielle also was super attentive and always checked in with us. Thank you Danielle for providing us with such great service! For our appetizer we ordered the Tavern Irish "tot" Nachos. Which was super fulfilling and delicious. It had everything a normal nacho would have just instead of chips it had tots! So, if you love tots and nachos like me, this would me a great thing to order. FYI it's really big so you may need a friend to share it with. I also ordered the Grilled Cheese American, which was one of the BEST grilled cheeses that I've had in a very long time. My one complaint is that they also served it with fries but some were burnt. The highlight of the meal has to be the dessert. We shared the Strawberry Pound Cake. The cake was more like a butter cake just had some berries and ice cream on top. This dessert is PACKED with sugar. From the powdered sugar to the Carmel drizzle on top! I loved it and I hope you will too! I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is in the mood to try a variety of different things. Date was Fri Feb 20 2026 dinner hour. Local Kitchen in Torrance CA. First let me say my negative experience is all about the food AND drinks, NOT about the service. The service was excellent, from the server, greeter and helpers passing by all were excellent and nice and happy during the very busy dinner hour that I was there. Noise level was eardrum splitting though. Food & drinks were both terrible. For drink I ordered a Havana Mojoto $15 which was the worst Mojoto I've ever had. Liquor was next to none, fresh mint quantity was just a small sprig, and not smashed like it should be and for sure no sweetener, lime or carbonation. Most recipes call for simple syrup or a liqueur and soda water. A Mojito is one of the easiest drinks to make by the way. For food I ordered a Breakfast Quesadilla $15. The flour tortilla was old and hard and the cheese was missing in action. I honestly never found any cheese although "some" could have been in there, but its called a "queso" dilla for goodness sakes - Cheese should the main ingredient! I did find burnt bacon in there and scrambled eggs, and the salsa / guacamole provided was excellent. Lastly was the strange plate it was served on. When I went to cut a piece of quesadilla to eat the plate tilted completely to the side where the salsa and guac flopped out onto the table, spilling most of that great salsa (sad). I checked to see how that happened and it turns out that the place was sorta of a hybrid plate/ wide open bowl, having only a small round footprint touching the table so when I pressed the knife down to cut, the plate turned over. I needed an emergency stack of napkins which the staff were quick to bring, thanks guys, I was too embarrassed to ask for more salsa. Overall I will not be returning to Torrance's "Local Kitchen". Sorry to the many nice people there serving customers. Edit 2-21-2026: After posting this review, John K the owner of Local Kitchen immediately replied and apologized that I was not happy with my experience there. He mentioned that he and his family have a 40 year goal of making sure their guests have a truly enjoyable experience (or else!). He offered me a full refund to make good on that goal to which I accepted. I could have not asked for any more from Torrance's Local Kitchen. Thank you John K and Local Kitchen staff! read more
