Very good food. Our server Joel- was on top of it, even with a full house. The place was overall good vibes with people there to celebrate birthdays and just watching the World Cup. The place has a separate bar area which looked like fun. Lots of parking and they made space for us, so no wait! Excited to go back soon

It's been a while since our last visit, but my family decided to drop in for Sunday dinner. There was a 30-minute wait, which gave me time to admire the new front addition--it looks like they're building a patio to keep up with the high demand! Just to be clear: this isn't your standard "Gringo" Mexican food. It is 100% authentic and tastes just like a home-cooked meal. Everything from the handmade tortillas to the salsas is top-tier. Whether you get the mole, the molcajete, or the enchiladas, you really can't go wrong. My only disappointment was finding out they took the sopes off the menu; they used to be huge and "the bomb." We were a party of five adults and one toddler, and they applied an automatic 18% gratuity (which they do for parties of 6+). Our server, Claudia, was fantastic! My only real gripe is the price hike. Enchiladas used to be under $13, but now almost everything is $20+. It's getting into steakhouse price territory, but the food is still delicious and the staff works incredibly hard. I noticed the happy hour menu. Not what it use to be, $7.77 once upon a time. But still some relief for your wallet. I missed coming here, nice to be back.

Excellent food! Salsa reminiscent of El Torito tangy n spicy! With all due respect. Nice cozy and a bit fancy ambiance. Recommended!

They are still under construction to finish new patio area at the entrance. We had to park the car toward exit and found no more entrance from the Anaheim St. So slow during late lunch. The service was slower than usual. We ordered the same ones, 2 crispy taco combination and my 2 chimichanga combo. Same quality and same ambiance except new construction area. Little noisy.... Hopefully they finish the new patio area soon. I don't like too much noises when I eat. We loved the Spanish rice, beans, warm chips and salsa. Their house margarita was so good for $14. We miss happy hour from 4. Cheaper margarita, cocktails.... Great place if you like the real Mexican foods.

This is great Mexican food! No wonder it is always packed! We don't come very often because of that last statement, but it is certainly worth it for special occasions. We came for my mom's birthday a couple of years ago, and we were a group of 7-8 adults and 5 kids, and we were attended to nicely. The menu is also quite expansive and has almost any type of Mexican food one could crave from tacos and burritos to fish plates, from fajitas to cocteles, from chilaquiles and other breakfast options to caldos. More recently, we came for my brother's-in-law birthday. We were a group of 9 adults and 3 kids. They were very accommodating to the few of us that split plates or with minor substitutions with things on the menu. I almost always get the coctel de camaron because it is my favorite place to get them. The shrimp is always perfectly cooked and abundant, the broth nicely flavored and there is plenty of chopped veggies. The green habanero sauce on the table went very well in my coctel. It comes served with saltines by default, but we requested tostadas. To drink I ordered the Michelada Chabela with a Pacifico. It was a little too sweet and salty for me toward the end. I ordered it because of the addition of Worcestershire sauce, but did not really care for the tamarindo straw or that amount of chamoy and tajin inside the actual drink. In the future, I think I will stick with the regular michelada and request for a couple of dashes of W sauce to be added in. My parents and my sister each ordered the fajitas mixtas, and those looked delicious as well. I like that you can request frijoles de la olla (whole cooked beans) in place of the refried ones. I will have to make it a point to come more than once a year, especially after seeing their happy hour menu. Thank you, Compadres!

OVERALL: 8/10 Los Compadres is a great family friendly restaurant. Whether it's a date night or the entire family getting together for a celebration, this place will take care of you. SERVICE: 4/10 The servers are genuinely nice and personable. However, today we felt ignored. Probably not the servers fault, since they were BUSY... but, we couldn't help but feel ignored. Our food took forever to arrive and when it did, one plate arrived about 20 mins AFTER ever one else's and another dish who we said no cheese due to a dairy allergy - came with cheese! this is not a normal experience- which takes me back to my comment of feeling ignored. Food: 8/10 Food was great! Tasty and huge portions - HOWEVER, I am taking off 2 points for the dairy allergy mix up. I mean, come on - the is food safety 101!!! Notable food mentions: The carne asada was tender and cooked perfectly. The caldo de pollo tasted homemade and had a lot of chicken and veggies. Do I recommend?: Absolutely!!!

The service was amazing - everyone was attentive and kind. I like that there's a lot by the restaurant so parking isn't an issue. The food is decently priced and you get a good amount of food. The food is delicious, highly recommend.

Came here for a nice dinner and drinks and were not disappointed. The outside of the restaurant is being remodeled to accommodate outdoor seating. We probably had the best waiter here, he was nice and attentive. We went straight for the meal as it was getting late. We ordered Bacon wrap Shrimp, Cheese Enchilada, Carne Asada plate, Shrimp soup, and Guacamole. We added a Blended Margarita, delicious. Well-blended tasty Margarita. Overall our food was good.

We came on a Saturday for "early dinner" around 4pm so the restaurant was pretty empty. The vibe here was actually really nice, intimate, spacious, and with fun music that made it feel lively without being overwhelming. The service was fast and friendly, which I definitely appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. I ordered 3 tacos (pastor and carnitas) with rice and beans. The pastor was dry and really lacked flavor, and the carnitas were overly fatty and could've used more salt and seasoning overall. The beans were bland too, though the rice was the highlight of the plate; flavorful and well-cooked. I also ordered a margarita, which looked great and came in a generous size, but it was very weak and mostly tasted like juice. Overall, great vibe and good service, but the food itself just didn't deliver.

Still one of my favorites. Room myself out for a relaxing lunch. The soup was more than enough to take home for the next day after I ate all those chips and salsa. The service staff are always so pleasant. Still love this place.

Very large portions. Amazing attentive staff. Very cute, old and wooden interior. It just feels like a classic Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing and I was quite stuffed.

My first time at Los Compadres. They were busy on a Thursday night. The wai was about 30 minutes. They use a web so you can track your wait status which helped fill the wait time. Things that stood out was it's a family run place. Big servings, friendly & attentive waiter. Food was OK meaning I will try another place before coming back. There were a number of celebrations and the staff all joined in chorus (multiple times), a fun/lively place.

A co-worker asked me to lunch and recommended Los Compadres. i have passed this restaurant countless times and never stopped. i will say before i get started that i have been missing out. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is a little dark. we both had to use our flashlights on our cells. Claudia was our waitress, we didn't have to wait long before our waters with lime and chips and salsa came. The chips and salsa was very good. the salsa was just right, not too mild and a little kick. i ordered the 1 Chicken Enchilada & Chicken Taco Dorado combo $20, she order 3 Chicken Sopes $16. our meals came reasonably quick considering it seemed like they were fairly busy. it was noon. The food was delicious. seasoned perfect! even the beans and rice were chef's kiss! the portions were big and embarrassingly, i ate all my food and it was not a lunch portion. My favorite go-to establishment had been a Mexican restaurant food chain in Long Beach, until now. i cannot wait to go back.

First of all one of their workers with the mastche and tattoos is so cute which is always a plus for the ambiance. It didn't take long to get our food. About 5 minutes and they brought it out to where we sat since we dined in. First of all! You need to get an aguas fresca. We got the medium for the orange mango and the Jamaica. They are so natural. I'm a huge fan of artificial flavor so this was a huge shock, but it pairs so well with their food. My only regret isn't getting the large. For the food we got the burrito 2.0 asada and the chivichanga chicken. The burrito was great but very heavy on the beans. Make sure you get extra green salsa. It's their best and a perfect balance of salty with a hint of sweet. The red salsa gets spicy. If you can't handle hot Cheetos don't eat it. Now the chivichanga thing was perfect. It's so tiny but the fact it's about $5 was perfect. I have never had something so well priced and portioned before. The way I can describe it if you ever wanted to taste high class Taco Bell that will make you want four more then you need to try it. And I mean this in the best way possible. It's so cheesy and savory and yummy!!! Truly just from these two dishes we will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Our next dishes is to try the tacos!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. About 10 minutes later, a guac is delivered to the table that was either run through a blender or was taken from a tub with a spoonful of pico mixed in. So much for the advertised table side experience or fresh avocado. The guac we buy at Trader Joe's and from Costco are way better. Third Interaction when ordering an entree. I order enchiladas and they have red or green sauce. I ask, Can I get both red sauce on one and green sauce on the other? Response, "well there's an extra charge for that". Besides being lied to about "Happy Hour" and about the "Table-side" Guac and them being told a basic request is going to cost extra, it's is c extremely clear that this place has no respect for their customers and no expectation that anyone will return. I know the 6 local people in our group will never return.
